TonyeBarcanista:You really believe those tweets are from Buhari? Bros wise up. Those things are Femi Adesina's thoughts, not Buhari. They did not even bother to route those comments through Buhari's official twitter handle. Very sloppy job |

Wao! So much hatred against APC. Just 12 months ago they were like the best thing since sliced bread was invented. Where did the rain start beating the fowl? Buhari has completely frittered away the massive goodwill that that transported him to power. SMH |
Lai Mohammed's son Jubril is a muslim. Last week, his father and mother were turbanned as the grand patron and matron of the Sa'adatul Abadiyya Organization of Nigeria. Yet his son voraciously devours Hennessy VSOP, Remy Martins and other cocktails with all pleasure. Even in religion, the children of the elite have a different set of rules for themselves, and another for the masses. I won't go to the 10,000 masquerade job theory of solving unemployment for the teaming youth, whilst their children pick cozy political jobs facilitated by their parents

Deen77:The oil prices you quoted are wrong. Oil price never exceeded $110 in last 5 years. See official below OPEC basket price for guidance. Also, your multiplications are misleading because it assumes that FGN owns 100% equity in the JV oil companies in Nigeria, and hence 100% of the oil produced. On average govt owns about 60% equity in the JV the rest goes to the oil companies. Hence FGN only lifts 60% of the oil produced. The oil companies lift the balance for themselves. For most of the deep offshore blocks which produce huge volumes, the operating contract is PSC which is even worse, because the operators are on steep cost recovery trajectory, and govt gets peanuts.

NaijaEfcc:Have you noticed as well? Thought I was the only one. |
adehab:In another media event same yesterday, 5th May 2016 hosted by Lai Mohammed and Newspaper Proprietors Association of Nigeria (NPAN), the Minister Kemi Adeosun gave a different set of numbers. She said: "Last year, we spent N64 billion on travelling and only N90 billion on roads". See link: https://www.nairaland.com/3088534/civil-servants-salaries-not-sustainable I am just wondering why a Finance Minster who got ICAN 3 years ago should have such great difficulties with numbers. Either she is mixing them up, does not know the numbers, has forgotten them or simply cannot add the figures correctly. This is rather shocking! |
citizenisb:Every official of this government is afflicted with the disease of "will", "would", "shall", and "to". When are we going to see actual actual and evidence of results? We are fed up with all these will, will , shall, shall, would, would, and to, to, to |
kYjelly2:Excellent point!!! Nigeria's problem are well known: + Infrastructure deficit (or crumbling infrastructure) - power, roads, etc + Endemic Corruption + Mono-economy or dependence on oil alone + Poor agricultural base (inability to feed ourselves or over-dependence on food imports) + Crumbling education and health care Even bus conductors, the barely literate gate man, and indeed every Nigerian can articulate these things. What is missing is solid plan of action and follow through in execution. So we expect a highly educated and experienced govt minister who comes to a public media to clearly articulate clear and cogent solutions and plan of action. One can therefore understand the angst of Nigerians when a highly placed Minister would come to TV and start listing the problems all over again. Worse still, she seems rather tentative and unsure of her facts and figures. |
loveuGOD:Better wake up to reality and get your facts right. 100% of the oil from Aje field opened up this week (about 40,000 barrels/day when they attain peak production) by Yinka Folawiyo Petroleum belongs to Yinka Folawiyo because the field was given to him as marginal field. Same way it was given to: + Tunde Afolabi of Amni Petroleum, + Alhaji Indimi of Oriental Oil, + MKO Abiola of Summit Oil, + Mike Adenuga of Conoil, + Wale Tinubu of Oando Energy Resources, amongst others. The Aje field is not a Joint Venture field like those held by Shell, Exxon Mobil, Chevron, Total or AGIP. Not s single drop of the oil belongs to Lagos State or Fed Govt. Yinka Folawiyo will pay taxes, which in most cases they manipulate and underpay anyway. You need to look for something else to give you comfort, bro |
obailala:I just tried to summarise and capture as much as I can as she was speaking. |
In a follow up interview with Dr Idika Kalu, he is advancing very cogent arguments on the overall economic strategy of this govt. He says : * We had in place beautiful plans to build railways linking Calabar to Lagos. Lagos to Abuja and Kaduna, and linking up to Gombe which would have opened up the core agricultural areas where boko haram is festering now, but these were never implemented by succeeding govts. * We started the steel manufacture journey with Korea in the 70's. Today Korea has huge steel plants feeding massive Hyunadi and Samsung shipbuilding yards, and we are still talking Ajaokuta. Ajaokuta has failed and is moribund. It should be shut for good rather allowing it to continue to guzzle money, and a huge sign hung there stating how not to implement steel projects. * It is not about reflating the economy, but re-structuring the economy. * You do not need to micro plan and micro manage the way they are doing * You cannot be diversifying if your exchange rate is out of the window * You cannot maintain such wide disparity between official and black market exchange rate * It is not about devaluation. You have already gone way below or beyond devaluation. * What does "gone way below the true rate" Ans: Our fixation on the exchange rate control is causing panic demand which is driving the current artificial parallel market rate. There are techniques and ways to estimate the fair value, adopt it and and significantly fund it and gap will narrow and even disappear when the economy revs up. Newspapers will go to town that you have devalued, so what? |
* How do you respond to Oby Ezekewzili's claim that your govt is running a command economy, and that Buhari's ideas are outdated. Ans: What we have is a planned economy. * How soon are we going to see this economic programme coming to live. Ans: As soon as the budget is signed we shall pump money into the economy. * Is it safe to say we have saved up to N3 trillion plus recovered funds to have more than enough to run the economy? Ans: I don't want to come here and give you false hope, or say that we a magic solution. What I can tell you is we have some money saved, and we will pump it into the economy. * Do we expect the budget to be signed this week? Ans: I am very hopeful. We are just eager to get this budget signed and get it moving * People are complaining (Port Shipping people) are owed salaries and not been paid. Ans: I will find out when I get to the office. A lot of people are being owed salaries |
Min of Finance, Kemi Adesoun Channels TV, blowing queens English * Many prominent actors in in previous govt as state governors who vehemently opposed efforts by FG to save excess crude, and insisted the money should be shared are now ministers in current govt and are pointing fingers accusing previous govt of not saving. Ans: I don't want to hold brief for anybody. But even if the states did not save, the FG should have saved its own portion * Are we now saving excess funds? Ans: No we are not savings because you cannot save when you are borrowing. We are borrowing and struggling to pay salaries * How much money has been recovered so far? Ans: I don't have that figure * What is the current amount in excess crude account? Ans: I don't have that figure. You (Maupe) quoted it sometime ago. I think it is $2.1b or $2.2b, I am not sure of the amount. * We have some people complaining of TSA, eg ASUU: We are working with universities and CBN to see if we can grant exemption to them * They put a blame on govt on leakages. Is it something your ministry can fight? Ans: Absolutely. Last year, we spend N19b on roads and N64b on travels. We are trying to limit travels and the flight class of various govt officials. * How are limiting leakages in govt? Ans: We are trying to introduce debit cards for routine govt expenditures. * Has this debit card kicked off? Ans: No we are trying to get proposals from 3 banks, then we shall go through learning process * How are you aligned with CBN on fiscal and monetary policies. CBN should be doing monetary, and your ministry should be looking at fiscal. Ans: We are trying to align. Are you in IMF programme? Ans: No we are not IMF programme. * Do we have an economic Team? Ans: We have an economic team * It will shock you that Nigerians do not know those who are members of the economic team. Ans: (Becomes upset) Don't you know the ministers? Don't you know me. VP Osibanjo, Min of State & budget, Min of Info, Head of DMO, etc are members * What is the Economic blueprint? Ans: We are going to invest in infrastructure. We are going to diversify the economy. If we can feed ourselves, it will energise the economy.

rolchi:Mr Lie Mohammed lied 3 times in two sentences. This man must hold the world record for highest concentration of lies, or what I call Lie Density. * Lie #1: Cross Rivers reserve park is the oldest forest in the whole world * Lie #2: Cross River people have decided to turn them to bush meat * Lie #3: They have now escaped Oga Lie Mohammed where did the Gorillas escape to? Cameroon or Sambisa forest? Someone needs to make a Youtube song out these escaping gorilla story |
tivta:Heads have already rolled before the announcement. Abi you did not hear that the Crown Prince already commenced the rites to ascend the Benin throne including the trek from Uselu to the Palace which Oshio Baba offered to join in? In Benin culture, it is sacrilege to commence the process of installing a new Oba if the previous one has not joined his ancestors (euphemism for death). |
But the leadership of both chambers, it was learned, for whatever reasons, upped the funds to N100 billion, allocating N20 billion each to themselves without the knowledge of the members."Juicy projects" "Allocated N20b each to themselves" The Change you voted for is truly here. So who is really corrupt now? This is officially sanctioned corruption? Lie-Lie Mohammed where are you ooooooo. Come and justify this one |
DONMAYOR19:My brother as them for me oooo!! |
Am I the only one is disgusted by these pictures of Ugwuanyi with Buhari? Tens of your people have just been slaughtered in cold blood, and you go to visit a man who controls the police and army who can do something about it and you are laughing like a fool who just won lottery. Is he star-struck the opportunity of shaking hands or taking pictures with Buhari or what? Is this a normal way to display outrage? Why all this fawning as if a houseboy went to meet his master? |
Secretary of Cattle Herdsmen is on Channels TV explaining the mayhem they are unleashing on innocent communities. In case you don't have light in your area or no fuel in your generator, find below summary of what the man is saying: - Says herdsmen are peace loving - Says anywhere they go they always touch base with the head of hausa community before they now meet the traditional institution in the area - Says it the communities who usually provoke the fulani herdsmen by demanding money before they graze, and if they refuse to pay, they shoot 1 or 2 cattle. - Says herdsmen that carry AK-47 are cattle rustlers - Says Buhari has greatly helped them to limit cattle rustling, and that Buhari has helped them to recover a lot of cattle rustled since he assumed office - Says the proposed Grazing Bill by the National Assembly to establish grazing land and routes in every state is good for them

EyenAkwaIbom:So since we have been misruled it must take us 2 years to produce common pencil? At that rate it will take us 5 years to produce biro pen, and maybe 10 years to produce exercise book to write on. |

My opinion is Buhari's Ministers like Fashola should organise a townhall for a full day every 2 months and give Nigerians detailed update on what their ministries are doing. Not that propaganda session Lai Mohammed organised yesterday Amaechi, Kachikwu, Enelamah, and Onyema, where all they were doing is begging Nigerians to take it easy with Buhari. There are too many sleeping and silent ministers in Buhari's cabinet, especially that timid girl called Kemi Adeosun (Minister for Finance). She has not articulated any coherent economic and fiscal direction for this government |
Talks about Lagos-Ibadan road that Obasanjo gave to Wale Balalakin's (SAN) company Bi-Courtney on 50 year PPP concession. Babalakin wanted to turn the road into a lifetime cash cow. He first erected toll-gates to raise money. GEJ govt said no, you must source commercial funds from banks, etc. Bi-Courtney stalled for years and refused to do the road. Under intense public pressure, GEJ govt repudiated the PPP concession, and ordered Julius Berger to move in and effect emergency repairs on the road in 2014/2015. Babalakin went to court and secured an injunction stopping further work by govt on that road. This is the genesis of the problem of poor condition of Lagos-Ibadan road. Caused by one of the emergency billionaires created during OBJ regime, others are Jimoh Ibrahim and Femi Otedola Fashola said he heard injunction has been lifted yesterday. He is yet to confirm this news. |
On commercial break. Will soon resume ..... Keep watching |
Min for Power/Works on Channels TV live explaining the power situation in Nigeria. Eloquent as usual. Talks about solar power filling the power gap. I can understand his hope, but it is a forlorn hope. Solar is inherently expensive and capital intensive (very high Capex/MW ratio). The amount of power (Megawatt) you can generate is small compared to gas or coal fired power stations. VP Osibanjo said this week that Nigeria does not have enough gas to generate 7,000MW. Yet Nigeria is sitting on larger gas reserves than oil. Nigeria's power grid also cannot carry more than 5,000MW, else we have system collapse. Question is: Why is government not facing these key bottlenecks frontally as a national emergency??

LRNZH:This list is pathetic. Can you name one single project in SE and SS that was included in the recent multi billion agreements signed with the Chinese? I'm not from that area but such brazen exclusion and cheating of certain parts of the country will only breed discontent and further divide the country. Shortly after Buhari came to power he visited Cross River state and did groundbreaking with so much fun fare and publicity the planned Maiduguri-Calabar super highway designed to economically open up that part of the country, especially the Boko Haram ravaged North East. FG was to guarantee the loans to execute this project and by all accounts it would have greatly benefited the North East. However, since it would also force the FG to dredge the Calabar port and make it functional the forces that have conspired to kill Calabar port hurriedly prevailed on Buhari to pull out of a laudable project he has already publicly committed to. We also heard if the president supports that project it will give the impression that he is supporting a state that did not vote for him. Is President Buhari now the President of APC States and not of Nigeria? |
ideylaff:Very plausible. Seems credible |
bikefab:I have been wondering about this as well. Why should only one person in a room full of people burst into uncontrollable laughter? Is that not an indication of mental illness? Just look at how some of them are looking at Amaechi in amazement. He even dances that his queer feminine dance when others are rather sober. |
