Those against CAMA Amendment are either ill-informed or mischievous.

In sane societies like USA, South Africa, UK, Europe, Australia etc, there are agencies that regulate religious organisations, CSOs and NGOs. Why should Nigeria's be different?

Some people said it is a fight against the church, and I ask, which Church?

If the Bible is right, the Church is the congregation of believers. It is not a building or religious organisation. And believers don't need any formal nomenclature or organisation to worship. The Bible says where two or three are gathered, CHRIST is present. The Bible never said people should establish organisations, neither did the early Christians establish organisations.

Now let's look this....

A man wakes up on a faithful morning, he approaches CAC (Government) to register his organisation, which he names XYZ Church

He lists himself, his wife, Kids or associates as Trustees

He gets certificate from the government to operate...

Yet, he argues with the government that they have no right to regulate the activities of the same organisation that he went to government to register.

He shouts persecution, war against the church and God.

Meanwhile, he is the final authority and CEO in the religious organisation, and won't hesitate to show the exit door to anyone that questions his authority.

The irony is that he abides to similar laws abroad...

FACT:

FG or any other government cannot regulate the "Church" (congregation of believers). Even the Roman government couldn't regulate the Church.

However, government can only regulate religious organisations (formal organizations) that are registered with the government in line with the constitutional mandate.

The rule is simple, don't register your organisation with government if you don't want to be regulated... Same way you don't register your business and NGO with government if you don't want their regulation...

You said sane societies, is Nigeria a sane society?

The Nigerian Defence headqurters has commenced investigation into a viral video by a Naval rating alleging ill-treatment by a senior Naval officer.

The military authorities disclosed this in a statement by Maj. Gen. John Enenche, Coordinator, Defence Media Operations, Defence Headquarters on Tuesday.

He said the attention of the army had been drawn to the video trending in some quarters alleging maltreatment of one Seaman Haruna Goshit (a naval rating) by a senior naval officer.

The junior officer in the video, had lamented an alleged ill-treatment as an orderly in the hands of a senior Navy officer, Rear Admiral I.O Mohammed.

In the video which lasted nearly twenty minutes, the official, while substantiating his claims with documentary evidences, voiced his frustrations, stating that the senior officer who he claimed was tribalistic, treated him like a slave, denied him leave and extorted his personal funds.

1. The attention of the Nigerian Military has been drawn to a video trending in some quarters alleging maltreatment of one Seaman Haruna Goshit (a naval rating) by a senior naval officer. In the viral video, the said naval rating stated how he was unjustly maltreated by a superior senior naval officer. However, in line with global best practices, the Military High Command has commenced investigation on the viral video with a view to unraveling the true state of affairs.

2. The general public is hereby notified that the outcome of the investigation will be made known when concluded.

If this information is true, then problems like insurgency and banditery are created and fueled indirectly through acts of maltreatment done to trained personnel in active service. If they should frustrate this young man out of the N.N., what group will he join?

Following the public outcry over the inhumane treatment of Seaman Haruna Goshit, serving personnel of the Nigerian Navy in a viral video by Rear Admiral Ifeola Mohammed, A motion of urgent public importance was raised by member representing Mallamalori/Kawgama Federal Constituency and Deputy Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Defence, Rt Hon Abubakar Yalleman, regarding the inhuman treatment of Navy Seaman Haruna Goshit by Rear Admiral IO Mohammed, and other reported maltreatment of Naval ratings by their superior officers, as well as irregularities in promotion and recruitment of naval officers from 2015 to date.

The House resolved at a plenary on Tuesday 14th July 2020, that the House Committee on Navy, headed by Rt Hon Yusuf Gagdi, who happens to be from Plateau state, the same state as Seaman Haruna, in compliance with statutory provisions, hold a public hearing to look into the above-mentioned malady.

In furtherance of the above, the House Committee on Navy has scheduled a public hearing on Monday 20th July, 2020 by 11am where all the affected personnel are mandated to cause appearances and defend themselves accordingly.

in a press release exclusively obtained by Swagalicious Flikz, signed by a Senior Legislative Aide to Honorable Yusuf, Pharm Mizim Haruna Dagung , the committee has given the Naval authority up to Thursday 16th July, 2020 to submit all relevant documents regarding the above mentioned subject to the committee.

Naval Officer Cries Out In Viral Video Over Maltreatment

There has been an outcry in Jos, the plateau state capital, over the maltreatment of one of her indigene, Seaman Haruna Goshit, who is serving in the Nigerian Navy.

Haruna who was assigned as an orderly to one rear Admiral I.O Mohammed narrated his terrible ordeal in the hands of his superior, some of the things he mentioned were Sweeping his house, Accompanying his kids to night clubs, and even paying for goods from his own account many times.
