It's obvious people like Odumooron, Beaf, Coongar etc never got any education or are just too blinded by hatred to see straight! How can someone claim that a university brand is of no consequence except of course, you have never stepped into any renowned graduate school in the world (1-100) or ever had your resume looked at by any top company in the world: Google, Microsoft, Apple, etc! If you ever came close in your life, you would know that a recognized brand immediately gives some level of confidence for them to appraise your candidature rather than completely removing it from consideration for the likes of Ife, UI, etc whose name is well known all over! Or, do you think while an unknown entity is competing with candidates with brands like Harvard, Stanford, Cornell, MIT, McGill, UBC, Alberta, Toronto, UNILAG, OAU, UI, etc, it will stand even a dot of a chance?? Get out more and get educated and of course, stop "cassetting" all around the place!! |

The SW people are the most sophisticated and progressive people ever and see no point in having a built up brand after 50 years destroyed by someone who is too stupid at 54 to know that the university was established by an act of parliament and cannot be changed fiat. Why not announce a new Federal university after MKO and see it grow to towering heights in a few years? 3. Due process. In a democracy, the people come first and he should have consulted with the students, alumni and the people who are stakeholders before trying to steal glory he knew nothing about or reap where he did not sow. 4. Brand recognition is a big deal when you try to do your graduate studies in a foreign university or work in the Microsofts, Googles, etc of this world because they immediately know and can recognize the brand of the certificate and transcripts you have. It is a big setback to Nigeria and Nigerians if they have to surmount a totally unnecessary obstacle like this in the process! 5. This whole thing is a distraction from the fact that the daft president has done nothing to advance the country! Rather, he has wiped out a ~ $ 60 B surplus and replaced it with a ~$ 60 deficit, wiped out the ~ $ 30 B Excess Crude Account, increased cost of gas, grown BH to dangerous levels terrorizing the state, has nothing to show for the monies spent so far, under him Nigeria's influence has totally evaporated, corruption has become state religion, the position of the president had been desecrated and brought down to a tribal position, Nigeria's fortunes in the sporting world and indeed football has hit rock bottom!! This man is a dangerous man and needs to be killed as soon as possible because his life is not more precious than the thousands that has been killed by BH due to his inactions, actions and sheer incompetence!! 12 Likes |

If you wanted to apply to the biggest and most influential companies like Cisco, Microsoft, Google, etc and they let you select the name of the university in a listbox, you can be quite certain your school name will be there just like Harvard, Stanford, McGill, Oxford, etc why? Because over the years, they have known these institutions so why destroy all that with useless political pandering and interest? I hope this useless move which is only purely political is turned down and litigated in court. I think MKO deserves a real big time immortalization for his sacrifice but not UNILAG. Lagos is such a brand name that people who have never even been to Africa or Lagos have heard good thing about it. They will always ask if you are from Lagos soon as they know you are Nigerian. UNILAG is one of the icons and brands recognized in foreign countries and what is the need to destroy the 50 year reputation by wiping out the brand??
