TravelRe: Living In Canada/Life As A Canadian Immigrant by czaratwork: 6:35am On Sep 21, 2017
Good morning all. please i want to ask some questions and need urgent response.

Those that got their credentials notarised, did you have any need to use the notarised copies? i want to go and do mine today at ikeja court.

Then for our electronic gadgets (phones, laptops) any idea of how and where to get the adapters (step down) that will work in canny or is there no need to worry about that?

Am i to make the list of accompanying goods and goods to follow on a plain sheet or is there a form to download online for that? If i am to make the list how does it look like. i remember seeing someone write here that you will put a price/cost to all items listed.

I have no one to stay with when i land, i am yet to book for where i will stay. any suggestions on how to go about booking reservations (not hotels o) and companies that render such short stay accomodation because i intend to look for accomodation from where i will stay temporarily. Do i have to pay for the accomodation before leaving naija or can i pay when i get there?

Then my luggages, i have seen that such companies will pick you up from the airport. i really need such services as i cant pay taxi fare for my landing luggages over there (okoro woman).

I am leaving on Monday 25th 1.30pm naija time to Land on Tuesday 7.30am canny time.

Hi All.....I just got our Passports back and COPR today. We plan to travel in February but we intend to book our tickets this month because of price.Destination is Regina but I haven't been able to get any direct flight there hence I intend to use travelstart.I even called egyptair but was told they don't fly to Regina directly. When I checked through travelstart,You'll fly egyptair to Toronto, then connect aircanada to Regina. However,I'm worried about this travelstart issue that I just read.We have a toddler who can be very handful and I can't imagine him in this kind of situation. Please any idea on the best way to book these tickets without going through this kind of experience, guys?I will really appreciate you response.Thanks.

speedy response would be appreciated.

Thank you

please i have another query. my middlename was written as my surname in my drivers licence and all effort to change it when i discovered did not work so i was using it like that.

Recently(last week) CPA said i should submit my doc of id for my conversion and i sent my drivers licence (notarised copy) They rejected it on the grounds that my middlename was written as my surname. i have sent them my birth certificate to replace the drivers licence earlier submitted but i am wondering if i am going to have issues using the drivers licence at Ontario. Will the Ministry of transport reject it too?

Is there anything i can do now i am still here to avoid embarrassment when i land in 2 weeks time.

urgent response will be appreciated.

Thanks man
Blackbuddy:
For your trip, you can wear light sweaters or cardigans from Nigeria but pack your winter jacket on top of your luggage. This is because you need your hands free to carry your hand luggage and it might be too warm to dress up in them but once you land, you can retrieve your winter jackets/head warmer/neck scarves at baggage claim and wear if it's a really cold day. If it's not that cold, you can put them back on top of your luggage. Canvas or tennis shoes are okay, you won't be doing any trekking and ice might not have formed at that time of the year on the streets. A taxi or your host will get you to your destination from the airport. Have a safe trip.

TravelRe: Living In Canada/Life As A Canadian Immigrant by czaratwork: 5:12am On Sep 05, 2017
please for landed/settled members here please arrange in order of priority

1. open an account
2. get an accomodation
3. get a phone plan

it seems these three are interwoven because you will need the address for all others and you will need an account for the other payments and you will also need phone number for the other 2.

thank you

Hello All,
Greetings to all the Elders in the house. I am Nicole and currently work as an IT Business Analyst in an Investment House. I am Female and 31. I have a master degree from one of the top 10 schools in the UK, and first degree in Computer Science and Law. I've worked as a BA for 5 years with ITIL , CBAP and other certifications under my belt. While my fiancée works in a Bank in Treasury. His first degree is in an Political Science but he's worked in the Treasury arm of the bank for about 3 years. Now my dilemma is , how feasible would it be for him to get a job? Since we are both considering relocating. He's an amazing man but sometimes when I remember that his line of work does not sell as fast as IT , I get discouraged about settling down permanently with him. I feel because I have worked with IT professionals for most of my working life, I believe such skills are more in demand. Asides the job thingy, my fiancée is one of the most amazing and selfless individuals ive ever met.

We are considering getting married in October 2018

Uaw.

please in your request to ACCA, tell them to send the letter of good standing via courier. there is no charges. ACCA first sent mine via email. they rejected it so i had to request they send via courier. The most tasking one is gaining access to the online course because if you reside outside Canada, you can only pay via certified cheque and you need to raise a CAD certified cheque of 495.00 and send it to the same address. my sister in the US sha helped me raise the cheque and sent it to them. it took them almost 3 weeks to give me access to the online course.

goodluck.

Thanks alot czaratwork

my research shows TORONTO in ONTARIO is the city for IT, ACCOUNTING/FINANCE professionals. i also hear living there is expensive so you can live in the surburbs and commute daily to work.

For those who got letter from FRSC, please how did you request for the letter (by hand or via email) and who did you tell them to send the letter to (did you collect the letter yourself or did you ask them to send to an address) if yes to address, which address are they to send it to?. i would also appreciate a sample of the letter.
