Classic case of projection. Bishop Kukah, the most prominent voice of Catholicism in Nigeria, is a Christian from the North. For God's sake Benue is not in the North. Even the Northerners do not consider the Middle Belt states to be a part of them when it comes to sharing of privileges. They only use them for political purposes. One of the most irritating phrases in Nigerian geo-political discourse is "The nineteen Northern states." It's a scam!
When Obasanjo appointed top army officials from the Middle Belt, whom they like to call North, the core Northerners complained of dicsrimantion against the North and then Obj reminded them of their dishonest claim that the North has nineteen states. How can you complain of discrimination against the North, when the "Northerners" from Kogi and Benue are appointed into high offices. That tells you that they don't really see the Middle Belt states are true northerners.
We need to call out this scam and accentuate the fact of a region, called Middle Belt, which is culturally distinct from the North. They call Kogi or Benue North, yet neither shares boundaries with any Hausa/Fulani or core Northern states.

You must give these northerners credit for their ability to put their differences aside and put up a united front when it comes to fighting for common interest (in this case, power). From outside and studying the Nigerian political dynamics, you'd think that they are all united internally, but it's not the case. The Hausas, Kanuris, and Fulanis are very different people. In fact, the Kanuris and the fulanis are rivals. Then there are minority tribes and groups in the North. But in spite of these diversity and conflicts, they stick together when it comes to advancing the Northern agenda ( especially against the South). They do not betray or backstab "their own" and do not let their individual ambitions stand in the way of the larger regional agenda. That is why the North will always dominate the political landscape in Nigeria. With power, they will be able to control every aspect of our lives in Nigeria. They understand that power means everything.
The South on the other hand is a bunch of greedy and selfish tribes, who are concerned about their individual gains. Even within the tribes, they betray each other and support "foreigners", whose intention is to subjugate them and their people. The Yorubas and Igbos fight each other and go bow down to their slave masters in the North just to get crumbs; Christians are divided while priests are being killed and Nigeria is being islamized.
The Sultan of Sokoto is the vestige of that Jihad that destroyed the Hausa kingdoms and has set the agenda with which the Fulani elites, who dominate Northern politics, afflict the rest of the nation. It's a long shot, but the day the Hausa people realize how much their people have been subjugated by the fulanis and how much harm they have caused them, they will chase them out and the whole of Nigeria will be free. For now, the Hausas are used as puppets by their Fulani masters to hold down Nigeria from progressing.
However, until the Hausas realize this, the rest of Nigeria ( the South especially) needs to realize that if they don't put aside their greeds, selfishness, and rivalries, they will perpetually be enslaved by a Fulani- led Northern Nigeria.

The level of illiteracy in Nigeria is mind-boggling. There are no 19 Northern states in Nigeria.
Here are the Northern states: Adamawa, Bauchi, Borno, Gombe, Jigawa, Kaduna, Kano, Katsina, Kebbi, Sokoto Taraba, Yobe, Zamfara. ( Adamawa, Taraba, and Niger cut into the middle belt). At most there are 12 or 13 Northern states).

Benue, Kogi, Kwara, FCT are in no way, shape or form Northern States. There are right in the middle of Nigeria.

Plateau, Adamawa, Taraba are all in the Middle Belt.

The real battle ground in this election are the Middle Beltern states : Abuja, Kogi, Benue, Kwara, Plateu, Taraba, Nassarawa, and Niger. Rivers is a toss up for now, because of Wike's uncertainty.

I did not bother to look at the state by state breakdown of voter registration, because the result is predictable. It will show that the backward and destabilized Northern region has more “registered” voters than the South. This is predictable, because it is always rigged to favor the North. Population census and other sensitive data are always rigged in favor of the North. This started in colonial era and Tafawa Balewa brought it into the post colonial Nigeria with his fake population census .
The worst decision in the history of Nigeria is the decision to stop teaching Nigerian history to students. Since there is no incentive to teach history at the federal level, a serious state government should, through the state ministry of education, make history compulsory for all students in secondary schools in their territory. Our children need to know the good and evil foundations of this “country” so that they can make informed decisions.
