@Egunmogagi: A single Picture speaks more, than a thousand words! undecided undecided

Foreign Contractors continually re-invest their income/profits in TOOLS OF BUSINESS that make their job easier and faster (That is how the likes of Julius Berger, Taylor Woodrow, Peirse Construction, Guffanti, e.t.c started, until they grew to become global business) thereby creating more wealth for themselves in the future while making the service they render, more affordable to the Client...

But their Nigerian version use theirs to marry more wives or buy more cars and live falshy lives when their business is still at the teething stage, only to keep heaping the pressure on the Client and claiming that the job is so difficult.

Why will it not be difficult , when you want to keep doing it the manual way while failing to plough back profits?

This scenario plays out when you're watching a football match and everyone becomes a coach. put them on the pitch and they're tired and can't kick a single ball after 5 minutes cheesy

In the discussion, no one has mentioned foundation depth yet. 5 labourers may finish digging the foundation if they're just scraping the surface but for a standard foundation with pad footings etc, 1 labourer will finish only about 6-8m in a day and it is NOT possible for 5 people to finish 2 units in 3 days not to talk of 1 day.

Let's be realistic

How old is your marriage? I'm sure her enthusiasm will fade with time. Until then, try to keep up if you don't want an assistant. Sex is healthy for both of you; you can resort to positions that stress you less, and let her do the heavy lifting if you're not up to it.
You are the only on that made sense, out of all the immature boys and girls on this thread!
The man is talking about TOO MUCH sex, they are telling him to man-up!
Should he have a heart attack and die, just because he wants to satisfy his wife?

He should let her do the heavy lifting or buy her a Love Machine.
Could also be that his work is stressful and he comes home already tired.
Maybe some vitamins may also help to increase his Libido, to match that of his wife.

BTW: Did he not notice her sexual urge during their courtship years?

I want to send some goods to your address for shipping,
but I don't understand what is happening here as regards
these latest comments ,
are there some hidden charges to be paid apart from shipping fees ?
The question you should be asking are:
1.) Would Midas be consolidating your shipment with that of others, as a single package during sending or just sending yours alone in a box?
2.) if he is consolidating your goods with that of others ....and Customs holds the whole package, demanding for bribe, will he be paying it or Billing you for it?

These sort of charge may not be hidden but it is unexpected by the customer.

Learn from what is happening to others and use it as a guide. undecided

In general, there are several add-on devices that can boost the level of security. One cannot overlook personal safety for fear of hurting someone who clearly is beyond his limits. Accidents do happen, it is not intended.

MODIFIED
Let me add by saying that an electrified fence in comparison to other devices that deliver shock is a non lethal system.

Most security energizers deliver 10,000volts or less while a car spark plug will deliver up to 50,000volts and a taser or stun gun delivers 50,000 to 300,000volts. A defibrillator uses 300-1000volts directed to the heart.

This means that a taser is a worst case scenerio of the electric fence, meaning if a human can take 300,000 and survive, certaily electric fence is far from lethal. However, the resultant lethal effect of the electric fence is that its at a height usually above 1.5m from the ground. A human is more likely to fall uncontrollably than get killed by the shock itself. From this height, anything can happen leading to death or other serious injury.

A 330kv (330,000volts) transmission line which is the highest in Nigeria is more likely to fry you dead because of the high current and the lack of pulse. Voltage doesnt kill but current kills.
Thank you for taking the time to answer all these questions and even more that were not asked, which you felt added flesh to the explanation.

In my neighbourhood, armed or serious robbers are not really our problem but juvenile teenagers (our children or that of our neighbours!) who think they are above any form of control.

I would invest in more ferocious Dogs that are not human friendly.
The one we have is a family Dog which seems to know everyone in the neighbourhood and offers them a friendly welcome. angry

I followed the news here ghana. She knew who the man was., she lit the fire too. Why would someone with visible pistol ask for direction if they were a thief? Its an assasination. The case is more than what you are reading on blogs. It goes way above. Even a house of assembly member is involved.
You are so on-point.
I also wonder that after they had taken his gun (which l imagine he would have used as a last resort, if death was imminent),
* why not just tie him up and hand him over to the Police?

If that was not enough,
*Why not just beat him silly and then let him be or hand him over to the Police?

If that was not enough,
*After killing him, why not just let his body be, in whole?
Why set him on FIRE

It is this last part (and we cam see the woman taking close pictures, of the burnt man) that makes me think this was more then just a case of armed robber being dealt with.
This woman actively participated in the atrocities and she (and others involved) should be taught a lesson in how not to be a Vampire.

Crime › Re: Irishman Admitted In Psychiatric Unit After Losing Money To Nigerian Scammers by Daboomb: 7:46pm On Jun 03, 2017
Look, let no Irish man or system use Nigerian Scammers as an excuse to evade Justice!
The Irish are know to be greedy gamblers and most of them lose their money on gambling, only to use "medical reason" as an excuse to pay their debt.

One must wonder if that Irish man is not also a scammer because is he telling us that of all the beautiful women in Ireland, even 'blacks' from other African countries, he cannot find a single one to date over there in Ireland?
Is he telling us that even in the UK next door, he cant find a woman to date, and he has to come all the way to Nigeria?
What is his focus with Nigerian women?

Is it because some of these Irish men find Nigerian women cheap, easy to use and dump, easy to use as sexual slaves and taken advantage-of, that he is particularly interested in only Nigerian women?

His case is like that of greedy people who know they did not invest any money in any Central bank in Nigeria (scammers story), yet want to reap Millions of Dollars that "Mr. Donatus" left in the vault of the CBN.... only to get scammed as a result of their GREED.

I have no single pity for anyone who gets scammed because at the root of most if not all SCAMS, is the GREED of the scammed person.
Greed makes you lose your sense of reasoning and caution.... and that is when you get scammed.

This Irish man has probably and most likely gambled his money away and in the process of escaping his liabilities (like debt owed to bank for his mortgage), he decided to threaten the bank and then use 'Nigerian scammer' as his excuse, just to evade Justice.

The average Irish Policeman or Judge would rather believe the "Nigerian Scammer" excuse than diligently investigate alternative causes of his criminal behaviour.

Otherwise, why attack the bank and bank staff or was it the bank staff he paid money to, to get a Nigerian girl friend?
There is nothing the Irish person likes more than to put-down a Nigerian.

This story is Bullshyte!

The standard energizer comes inbuilt with a 7.5ah 12v battery and charger that can last 48hrs or more giving very serious shock of between 4000-10,000v. It has settings of low voltage and high voltage. When your are away from the house you can set it to low voltage and it can last far more thag 48hrs without charging. Besides, there is a solar panel add in. You can have peace of mind that only your gate can be broken.

It also comes with a siren and strobe light alarm, that will sound and display when it shocks someone, fence wire is cut or two wires bridge themselves.

You set up and forget about it unless you dont have power for 2 days or more.

The fact that its on or off at times doesnot matter and system remains a very serious deterrent to intuders cause they never know when your battery is dead.

The shock itself is not fatal but paralysing because it comes in a pulse lasting for less than a second. If it were continues, it will kill. The powerful jolt will cause muscle cramp so an intruder cannot hold on for the next pulse, he would have let go off the wire and fallen from being paralysed for some time. The jolt is enough to send a human flying from top of the fence to the ground.

Also, it is better to install a top or bottom bent fence bracket. The bend should be outwards. This ensures that even if you wear protection, it is difficult for a robber to navigate himself or stand on top of the fence without tampering with the fence bracket.

Say you install a 10 line bottom bent bracket, the intruder must be protected to his head and still may not be able to cross.
Thanks for this your educative response.
I honestly did not know a lot of things you mentioned above, hence my initial lukewarm attitude towards it.
Like Egunmogaji pointed out, l do worry about exposing a Perimeter fence l share with others(or one that the next house has direct access to), to lethal force (even though armed robbers do not fall into my bucket of sympathy) but your explanation have cleared the air a lot.

And let me also ask: how is it possible that one may use this deterrent for one's personal home, as in let us assume l have a Maiguard, spiked gates and Dogs, e.t.c. But l dont have an electrified fence because l fear someone who is not a thief might try come-in unexpectedly ( I have encountered a useless Boy who climbed my fence from their won side of the wall, just to retrieve his junior brothers ball that came over the fence, instead of going round his own gate, press the bell on my gate and then allowed inside officially! If my fence was elelctrified at that point, l fear for his health though l was not amused with such silly behaviour.) and get shocked.
Let us also assume that the assailant has breached all those layers of deterrent and what remains now is for him to breach the personal entrance to my living space (Living room, kitchens, bedrooms, ....the innermost layer of my house that needs protection!)

Is it possible, and How can the doors/windows to such "personal space be energetically electrified" (if it can be done) so that the assailant has no excuse at that point, to say l did not come to burgle or cause harm because l would expect you to use my Door Bell, if you came visiting without notice, at the door to my living room?

I am looking at a situation where l can reserve such level of protection, as a last resort or last line of defence?
Can you shed light on possible ways of achieving this.
Once again, than you for your 'eye opener' explanations.

@Egunmogaji: I suppose my question also falls in-line with your line of thought?

Nigerians are intelligent I must say. When they leave the shores of this nation, they do well.
I struggled to make a decent grade here in Nigeria but when I went to states for a training which they considered tough, I came out the best overall. I have friends and some other people who have same experience.
The govt needs to be serious and invest heavily in our universities. Schools should be equipped. Our teachers/lecturers need to be trained and retrained. We should have functional research institutes.
We cant keep wasting brains.. Now a lot of our youths have found solace in fraudulent activities... Most are yahoo boys now.
I really do fear for this country..
Where is the money for that INVESTMENT IN EDUCATION going to come from, when our Legis-looters have arrogated a large chunk of the Budget to themselves (or don t you see Saraki and Dnio Melaye buying Sports car and bullet proof vehicles all over the place?), when about-to-retire Governors force their State Assemblies to make laws that will give them Biilions of Naira in retirement benefits every year, meanwhile, they are currently Ministers and Senators, still collecting salaries and jumbo allowances?

Look, let us be honest with ourselves. Until we (especially the Youths), develop the "balls" to march on these Politicians, get rid of them like J. J. @ Purple bolded, most large mansions I have built have smaller footprints than a 4 flat house. 4 flats house will even be more expensive to excavate than a large mansion, since most large mansions cannot have up to 4 bedrooms on the ground floor, two kitchens, 4-6 toilets, 2 dining rooms, 4 balconies etc which a 4 flat house will have on the ground floor.

But hey, why should we even argue about it since I noticed from your latest post that it will be an unfair comparison since the assumptions of 2 feet foundation is way below our normal 1 meter of depth and 1 meter width foundations. Its like comparing two very different things, and that's where I became concerned. Anyone who reads your previous post of N10,000 excavation and N10,000 supervision cost may get the wrong message, and may go back and tackle his builder/engineer/supervisor or contractor for ripping them off. And the poor builder maybe loosing his shirt in the whole deal. cheesy Most excavations for 4 flats in areas I work may be above N200,000.00

Why didnt you opt for electrified fence which is far safer than this thing robbers never see as challenge. Cost difference is not much. 200k would have done it just like you handled this one.

Some ppl install electric fence with no energizer and robbers still get goose pimples on mere thought of getting a shock.

If you have energizer, they never know when its on or off, this idea keeps every body off the fence unless the robber is a pole jumper in which case he may not walk away from the raid.
If the Robber notices that 'NEPA' have taken power and say by 1pm, your Generator went off, what do you think will be going on through the Robbers mind?
Would the Robbers not be shouting "Alleluyah, God don catch am" or does the energizer not need constant Power supply to work?
I am just wondering becos that is what put me off the Elelctric fence route: I cannot ensure that Generator will be on 24/7 or go and refuel it in the middle of Night, if it goes off.

Hello Nigerians, I would love to introduce the BEST WINDOWS IN NIGERIA to you. Anyways, you might be wondering why I called it the best windows in Nigeria but let's start with the fact that it's energy saving in essence it deflects up to 60-65% of sun rays and uv rays thereby helping you save cost of running your air conditioner. Due to this fact 90% of noise is eliminated as well,along side odor and dust due to the factory fitted gasket that comes with the windows and doors which can be proven with a white paper test. Now these are just a few of the features that the Windows and doors has not the mention the factory fitted mosquito net which is detachable. I'm sure you must be thinking why do I even need to bother with this Windows and doors oh well here's why;
1. There's the cooling effect and it saves 60% of energy(let's think about it guys, Nigeria is too hot and you can't come and die)
2. Anti-dust and anti-odor(I'm sure you wouldn't want to spend extra in this recession by calling cleaning agencies and having to deal with offensive ordors)
3. 90% of noise elimination (some peace and quiet finally!!!)
4. Reduction of UV effect (Don't let that furniture, curtains and pictures be damaged by the sun for memory's sake)
5. Technical capacity and Aesthetics ( invest your 4 years of sweat into 40 years of bliss...durability is key)
6. Mosquito nets (it's inbuilt and removable, need I say more about those darn mosquitoes)
7. Modern solutions for ventilation (the tilt and turn function is just out of this world)
8. Self-cleaning Windows (now we wouldn't want to spend so much would we)
9. Resistance (it's a no matter the weather kind of product...doesn't rot, rust or corrode)
10. Best glass used (I mean it's double-glazed come on)
11. Highly experienced foreign staff (nationwide and international standards are met without doubt)
12. Guarantee in quality (if this isn't quality I don't know what is)
13. Inward and outward window sills ( for picture frame lovers and book owners)

If you use FIVE DAYS to dig a trench of an already Pegged land, then l will assume you did all the digging for a very large Mansion, all by yourself! grin grin
Share the loot please, let your boys chop out of it.

Five labourers will finish any trench for a block of four flats (2Up, 2down) in a single day.
Labour = #2,000 each.
Oga Spyder = #10,000 for supervision.

What else? huh huh

spyder880:
5 laborers to complete the excavation of a large mansion in 1 day and you pay them N2k each? grin grin

Sir, let us do an open challenge for the world to judge. I have a new foundation coming up this month, I have not fixed the starting date yet. Location is Enugu outskirts. Can I give you N100,000 to pay boys for the excavation and another N20,000 for you or anybody you choose to be on the grounds as supervision fees, here is the challenge.

If you can use N120k to deliver this foundation pegging and excavation till column bases are completed in 4 days, I will cough up another N100,000 as fine paid to you for winning the challenge, but if you cannot beat the deadline, you pay me just N10,000? What do you say Sir?
My Oga Spyder, l am wondering why you keep towing this path?
If we must take a challenge, we should at least be speaking about the same thing.
I have quoted again, my initial post, upon which l based my argument.

It was based on a FOUR FLAT Configuration (2-Up, 2-Down)
Now, you throw a challenge, without stating whether your challenge conforms to the configuration ls stated in my assertion?

How can yo use the trench-digging of a "Big Mansion" with that of a Four Flats?
Moreover, l have seen some of the Trenches dug by our Contractors, some are no deeper that 2feet, in a good red soil.

So, if you clearly state the terms of your challenge and it conforms to my initial post, l will certainly take up your challenge.

And please dont forget to add 'transport fee' for me and my boys to the location you want us to work in.

I am not ruling out the fact that some terrains can be challenging (As in those one with Rocks that you showed in those picture) but we all know that when we make these points, we are speaking from an "average and generalized" point of view.
Not one or two, specific cases that are not the norm.
Oga, I will have to disagree with you here. A block of four flats, say 2 bedroom flat semi detached, two on the ground floor and two on the first floor will have a perimeter of about 120m and about 20 or above column bases (pad footings). It will take more than 3days to do the digging and another 2 days to the the excavation of the pad footings.
My able Engineer, I am not very sure what you mean by the bolded.
20m or above for column base? is that an 'area' or 'depth' of trench measurement?
In saying it will take more than 3days, you did not state how many Labourers are involved in those 3days?
Is it five , ten or just two labourers?

Digging the 'Trenches' is included in "Excavation" of Pad footings now?
All 'DIGGINGS' that have to do with foundation, is included in that statement of 'digging trenches'.

Finally, to make arguments meaningful and beneficial to all of us, we should make ourselves clear and conform to the same points in the argument.
Bless both of you.

Oga Spyder = #10,000 for supervision.

What else? huh huh

If I am the client in that case, I will cancel the contract and even insist that the guy supervises the house from setting out till roofing (after all roofing poles could be "set out" too) grin Let us make sure these contractors end up without a dime after their hard work grin

Na play I dey play o, before my fellow contractors punch me on the nose.

@ Daboomb, my respects. grin
Oga Sypder,
This is 'tongue-in-cheek' and very much unlike you!
Anyways, you are always ma-guy. Much respects.

I still insist that "Pegging and digging trenches" are better negotiated together and agreed.
Once there is an "agreement", everybody is happy

It shows that for 25yrs, this man has been living in ABSOLUTE FEAR OF HIS WIFE!
I will rather remain single that live as a SLAVE, to my own wife, in eternal fear, under my own Roof.

God forbid!
Marriage will only work when both parties respect each other, not when one puts the other party into morbid Fear.

For real?
I thought putting the ropes for labourers to cut out the trenches is also part of setting out...
It is.
The Client made a mistake (which he is paying for now) by not setting-out clearly, what he was negotiating over.
The Contractor saw his naivety and is taking advantage of it.

If he were myself, l will cancel this wayward contract and negotiate the real "setting out" (Pegging and Digging of the trenches) with the Contractor.
Properly documented and signed.

If he likes, let him go and sleep in his house and not supervise what he wants to be paid for.
Any deviation from the signed Contract means he gets no final payment otherwise, he will cough out the initial payment as well, for defaulting on agreement.
