Mixola:
I read this story and I thought it was my wife. I am married too but at the moment I can't stand the sight of my wife. I wonder and regret how I dragged her into a marital mess. I discovered this a week after our wedding that I am not meant for this kind of relationship but that was too late. However, I vowed to be committed to her based on my religious background. She made things really worse for me. I happen to work in another city; four hours drive from base. At no time has she ever prepared meal for me when I am traveling. She has no regard for my parents or siblings. There are atimes I get home on Saturday and there is nothing for me to eat. Before I was transferred, I do the shopping. All she does is to make a list. She sprained her ankle and was on POP for practically 2 months. I was going home each weekend for support and do all the shipping. She hardly picks my call or call back yet blames me for communication gap. It got to a peak and I actually wished life could just end somehow and give both of us peace. Suicide was a remote option. I wanted to just disappear. Now, I careless who cares or not. I guess marriage is not for everyone. I am filled with many regrets beyond count. I wish I could punch Ctrl Z on my life's keyboard. I have bent beyond backwards but it seems it's not gonna work. It all sucks.
This is real and very serious matter o! shocked shocked

- How was your courtship years like?
- Did you sound each other out at all?
- Did she cook for you before marriage and did you cook for her then?
- Do both of you do thing together and do oyu have "common interests" back then?
- Were you in-love with her before marriage (as in real passionate love that you cant do without seeing her for a day) and was she passionately inlove with you as well?
- What made the two of you to really decide you want to get married to each other? What was the conviction?
Finally
- Do you have children in the marriage right now?

I asked this question because l can "sense hatred" in this relationship and that is never a good sign because it does not get better!
Please dont get violent.
If things dont work out pretty soon and you dont have children between the two of you, l see that the hatred is sort of "mutual" (if she does not pick calls, does not cook for you, e.t.c ...l am not even sure two of you stii have sex with each other!). better to seek early divorce so that each of you can find happiness.
Life is too short to live in such poisnous atmosphere.

That was the life of yore, when a penny was a penny..
The home is being run by both parties now,due to the changes that has occurred in the global economy.
Even the wife of Dangote works, ditto first ladies.
Please STOP!
Their is a big difference in Working to earn a living (survival mode)...and working to just get out and about and reduce boredom (fufilment ).

Wife of Dangotte or any first lady isnot working so she can feed her lazy-bum husband, they do it for fulfillment.
For many years, my wife refused to work because she said "how much are they going to pay me, what will it buy me that l dont already have"?
Eventually, l begged her to just do it for the fun of it as long as it does not interfere with her primary responsibility of taking care of the family (Me and her other children) grin grin
One day she came back and told me she will open her own company or nothing.
I asked why and she said she threw the folder at her Boss who was talking to her like she was her some desperate employee!.

I nearly died of laughter but as life will have it, her Boss of then, one day came to her office that she is running to seek sponsorship for one of their programs and was all smiles, thinking she has forgotten so quickly how she use to treat her employee back then.

Point is, let your wife work but let her know that she is not doing it because she needs the money. Give her every thing a woman who is working 9-5 has (Nice car, a higher salary, apid Holidays trips, e.t.c) so she knows that hwat she earns at that work place is inconsequential and can be forgotten at a moment' notice

I can't remember my grandma offering my grandpa financial support. All she used to do was advice him in the right direction nd take care of the home with what he provides.
The Bible didn't call the woman who cannot provide for her family as worse than an infidel but the man.

Na wa o shame on today's men tueh!

I feel the equality issue came into play the day men chose to start looking at women financially. In the good ol days only foolish men will sit & wait for their wife's money. Real men earn money and cater for their wife & children that actually make them the man
But even women of today, if you the husband caters for all their financial needs and ask them not to work, they would start shouting "wife abuse"! shocked shocked
You would hear things like "he wants to make you financially dependent on him so he can control you". grin grin

What is that definition of woman sef: Someone who does not know what she wants, does not know how to get it but blames a man for not getting it! grin grin shocked shocked

But l agree with you, any man who cannot meet the (reasonable) needs of his wife (without expecting a contribution from her) should not even marry in the first place.

My sister you are welcome to "Men's World". The heart of men is desperately wicked. If you are not doing anything to generate income for the family is a great problem for you because anything about you irritates him. Check your financial life very well.
Secondly, it could be you have turned yourself to a different person after giving birth to your child. Check your looks.
Last but not the least. Check your relationship with your in-laws. They could be instigating your husband.
In conclusion, I encourage you to pray without ceasing.

I am sure that in your femminazzi-mind, you think the Bible was referring to a MALE, when that phrase was used? grin grin grin

FYI, the use of "MAN" in the Bible refers to creations of God, both Male and Female.

Judah and Benjamin are the Jews, they are the southern tribes of Israel, collectively called the kingdom of Judah. Hajj,

a) Have you connected your phone to your Personal Laptop in the past?
b) Do you have itunes ~Samsung keyes on your Laptop?

If the answer to the above is YES {and (b) will likely be YES, if (a) is YES}, then l am sure that your Itunes would have 'synced' your device to the/your itunes, on your laptop.

if so, just connect the new phone (after login-in to your itunes on your Lappy) to the Laptop and 'sync' the keyes backup to the phone and EVERYTHING on the previous phone that was 'synced' to the Lappy. will be synced back to the new phone automatically...with a few questions requiring only a click/yes and your google account password.

Hope this helps.

*The above can be enabled automatically, under 'Settings => General => Wifi-Sync => Sync Now ..such that it does it everytime the Ipad and Laptop are within the same Wifi Network without any input form the user.

As for travelling long distances for potential jobs, the client described in your scenario is not nice at all. But also, it’s an important lesson to iron out all deals before travelling such a distance.

As for giving price, what is the need for holding price? How will the potential client ascertain whether or not to use your services if you’re padlocking the price? Your quote/price should not be moving up and down depending on the client but the economy.

I don’t understand why people are so hesitant to name price. If you don’t want to do it on nairaland and would rather discuss with the client privately that is your choice. But that is not how a transparent business does things. Even if it’s not the exact price, an estimate should be available to allow the potential customer see what is available and if it’s affordable or competitive with other similar services.

This is how it’s done all over the world. I don’t know why Nigeria’s case must be different.

Ex. You want to purchase some paint or an accessory or tool. You enter Home Depot’s website. The prices are laid out for you. You can compare between brands. If you like you can now check a similar stores inventory and compare the prices between the two.

I don’t understand the mentality behind this at all. In Nigeria in order to get a quote for a new building project the contractor will charge you. It’s ridiculous. One contractor here told me that abroad customers pay for quotes of work.

I have NEVER paid any contractor to give me a quote. They’ve come to my house, looked at the job that needed to be done and then gave me an estimate/quote of labour (that didn’t fluctuate) and also materials needed. My contractor even followed me to Home Depot to help me purchase the materials and took time to educate me on the differences between products and quality.

If it was Nigeria they will charge you for fuel to get to site, time to go to store and inflate labour prices if you buy your own materials. It’s ridiculous. And most of these contractors that charge you to look at a site are not serious for the job. It’s one thing to say you need transport fare if the contractor doesn’t live within the same area and the client is adamant on working with that specific contractor. BUT if they live in the same area, WHY would I pay?

When you go for an interview, does the potential employer pay for your transport fare regularly?

You don’t pay a lawyer to hear about your concerns in the first meeting before they decide to take your case or you hire them.

I’m tired of this thing to be very honest.
IN SUMMARY:

The major difference between "Sellers" (of goods and services) in Nigeria and other places is that:

In other places, Sellers are open concerning prices and beleive that they can use lower price to attract you to their goods/services, while maintaing the same quality.

In Nigeria, Sellers beleive that by being sneaky and hideous about their prices, they wil lbe able to TRICK you into buying their goods/services and/or even reduce the quality so as to make a bigger gain margin for themselves.

Think about 'every reason' why a foreign builder/Contractor/Builder/Shop would put their price label on everything, including their labour...and you will find it above.

Also, think about 'every reason' why our Nigerian builder/Contractor/Builder/Shop HIDES THEIR PRICE on everything, including their Labour, ...and you will find it in the above summary.

It all boils down to GREED! and that is why you wont ever find a "Business" in Nigeria, that has gone from one to two or three generations or is over a 100yrs old.
They must 'finsih eating it' within a life time, at the most

These guys rode on the pro-Buhari brigade which in itself rode on the anti-GEJ sentiments of the day.

Which was BASICALLY a fairly debatable Pro-North agitation.

Buhari did not win because of his capacity to govern but because of the North's expedient desire to regain power which it felt it had unjustifiably been denied.

The 'North' no longer needs Buhari (having served his purpose in unseating an incumbent president). It is on the other hand Tinubu, Amaechi, El-Rufai, Mamma Daura, Kyari and a number of others that need Buhari.
@the bolded:
This is where most people who for their own reasons love GEJ, continue to live in denial.
For the avoidance of doubt, Buhari had previously lost THREE TIMES, (and if we are to go by your logic, even though the North had an expedient desire to regain power) .
Note also that Buhari has also lost against the same Jonathan in 2011, ....even though "the North had an expedient desire to regain power"!

You can see that your thesis does nto standup to test!

But l can tell you that Buhari won because people were just too disillusioned with the ineptness of Jonathan's administration.
A lot of People felt that given just a choice between a Jonathan and a Buahri at the Polls, ANYTHING ELSE, is beter than having another four years of Jonathan.

That is the simple reason why Buhari could win this time, after three failures.
Not because he is good or trusted or credited with any mental capacity............ just get this Jonathan outta here!

Consider, if Jonathan has performed wonderfully, when even in 2011 people still gave him the benefit of doubt and voted for him but he blwe it BIG TIME!
At times, l just dont know how to describe that former President!
A Mistake? A failure? An Anomally? An Accident? A Stooge?

But as we have seen, Buhari is not better, in his own ways.

History has a way of repeating itself: Now, in 2019, Nigerians may be faced with the same dilemna of choosing between a Buhari they dont want anymore, and an Atiku they detest!

Either way, Nigerians are SHAFTED....unless the other minor parties can present someone credible and nigerians can vote with their HEAD, and not thier snetiments.

No one can do anything to any Contractor who does the "see me on WhatsApp" trick, the Client is the one who still has to ensure they seek enough "independent and relevant information", before agreeing to anything on WhatsApp.

The thing about this forum is that it has helped all Contractors to gain Clients, some of whom they would not have met anywhere else but it is strange that once established, some now turn around to think the forum is not good enough for pricing discussions.

My brother, negotiations always continue with workers even when they have started working, especially if some conditions change. I employed this painter to paint this whole house, from;

POP ceiling painting with white emulsion paint
All inner room painting
All outside wall painting with silk paint
Parapet fascia painting
Inside of my fence with texcote
Spray painting one locally made door

All agreed at N130k.

However the time frame agreed for the completion of the works is past, not any of his fault but materials sourcing delays. Plus some other screeding works he did on his own. So he is asking to collect an additional N20k.
Respects Sir!
We dey learn from you, that is why l have to "pull your trousers"! grin grin grin
Its not out of place, if you give him a little bit more. undecided

Good for him,
The bloody debtor is trying to whip up sentiments.

EFCC is on the right track,
Gtbank is on the right track.
You are so always TWISTED, why?
Did you read the story of how they over-charged his account with "unfounded interests" to the tune of #750Million and the court asked them to refund Innosson with interest... and GTB did not comply?

Do you know how many millions of Business men are facing the same extortion from our banks (Not just GTB alone but all our banks)

Do you know that borrowing to finance a lucrative business, actually makes a lot of sense and ALL the richest men in this world do borrow to finance theor business?

I am sure you have no idea about what goes on within the banking software, in the Back office.
Your "small change" in that savings account is not worth over-charging

. That's an insulting generalization! Do you know that Joseph Ayo Babalola, David Oyedepo, Samuel Adedoyin, Kunle Afolayan, Sarah Jubril, Chief Adesoye, David Abioye, Alabi Pasuma, Bisade Ologunde (Lagbaja), Ibrahim Gambari etc are all from Kwara? How then do you rationalise that Kwara people are ''mainly illiterates who don't bother a bit about their future''?
Nice one!
Nice comeback.

I think the other Poster made such assumption because everyone keep wondering why in Kwara, once they hear "Up Oloye" like this, they all line-Up behind anything with the name-tag "Saraki". grin grin grin
