Happy Birthday Mr. President. ambassadorgozie:That's the spirit. |
Femich18:Well after 6 months your dad can legally evict them. Tenants like that take advantage of the present eviction laws which says a landlord must give 6 months eviction notice if the tenant pays annual rent. However, if they were paying a monthly rent, your dad only needs to give them one month eviction notice. |
Femich18:Who says it can't work? It will work if it becomes a law of some sort and tenants begin to insist on paying in accordance with such laws. Do you know that in Lagos more landlords are now willing to collect one year rent from new tenants? Why did this happen? Because a lot of potential tenants now are telling agents they want an apartment where they can pay for just one year. Some landlords realized that their apartments would remain empty if they didn't shift ground. It was simply a case of demand and supply. I had such an experience in 2013. After much shakara insisting on two years, the agent came back and informed me that the landlord had agreed to collect rent for one year. But initially people said it wouldn't work. |
doncaster:Bro, I guess you didn't see this part: "He added that a more rigorous enforcement system for eviction would then be worked out for anyone in default.” Truth is paying a year or two years rent upfront is a burden on so many families, especially young couples with young kids, when you earn monthly. The government worker who is being owed 10 months salary is more like to hustle and raise 25k easily every month (assuming his rent is 300k per annum) than having to run from pillar to post trying to raise the full sum at the end of the year. For those in the private sector whose salaries are paid on time. You can even ask your banker or accountant officer to deduct and transfer from source without having to even touch the money. I hope the government can succeed in pulling this through. |
dabriggs:Wa gbayi!!! Best post I've seen on Nairaland all year. |
Still can't wrap my brain around the 'standing up immediately the plane lands' bit. Even when the pilot is constantly repeating that people should please remain seated until the plane comes to a stop. For where, my naija people go stand begin open luggage compartment. I'm like wtf ![]() |
Omotolu:First sensible post. NANS lost direction in 1999 with the advent of politicians. I will start taking them serious when I read headlines like: NANS questions Buhari over percentage of budget allocated to education. Stop harassing female students for sex for grades. - NANS |
Still waiting for Mourinho to bring out the best in Falcao.
|
mukina2:Mukina, abeg no ask of Edwife this night o. I hear she now supports QPR. |
buchilino:Says who? So we should wait until all the rapist, armed robbers, kidnappers and other criminals are apprehended before we prosecute all of them at the same time? Where is that done around the world. Even if two people go to rob at the same time and one is caught, that one will face prosecution while his mate is still on the run. That's how justice works. |
This is like a man who couldn't satisfy his ex wife sexually or impregnate her, now telling her new husband how to do it. Laughable stuff I tell you. |
Olisa Metuh. But of course. Next? |
I love the giant rubber ducky. That cloud that formed indoors though? Gerrerahere mehn! |
Congrats to the U23 team. Looking forward to the Olympics. joseph1013:I can't but agree with you. I hope they can include him in the CHAN list. |
I can't really say who is telling the truth here, but I only have two things to say on this issue. 1. We need to learn as a people that blocking major highways or even minor side streets in the name of religion, rallies, conventions, protests etc, thereby causing hardship to other road users is wrong and unacceptable. Your right to free association and religious alliances should not infringe on other people's rights to free and peaceful movement. If you must even have a road procession in large numbers, then get the police and traffic management authorities involved to help manage the situation and if possible create alternative routes. Christians, Muslims and other religions need to know this. 2. Some people on this thread need to understand that a gun is not the only weapon of attack. If a man comes at you with a cudgel, a cutlass, a dagger or even a sword with the intent to cause you grievous bodily harm and you have a gun in your own hands, you will 9 out of 10 times shoot first and ask questions later. Rest in peace to the dead. Hopefully, the truth will eventually be revealed. |
Technocrat1759:I would rather vote KOWA or APGA than vote PDP if the APC should fail eventually. Beg PDP my ars* |
Afrok:Just move on bro. Left to that dude we will see Agu grow up, get married and become President. |
Afrok:Breast bawo? Purify thy mind brethren. Lol. |
Agu!!! Very interesting movie. The opening was quite engaging with the kids and their "imagination TV" |
chukkiephil:So, in your village 18-23 year olds are boys? Some of their mates are in university, some married. If they are not men, what should they be? |

This ref dey smoke igbo. Where was the foul there? |
xynerise:Goalie Daniel has got to be the star of this team, followed closely by Etebo. |
coded01:It's very juvenile of you to be making fun of a teenager every week. How good was Thierry Henry at his age? As I remember he was being benched by Victor Ikpeba and Jurgen Klinsmann. Martial will have his day in time. |
Another philosophical defeat. Well done LVG. |
Emmagenius:Calm down, English major. To the sane mind and in a sane society, everything we have read and heard about this "Armsgate" actually comes across as being unbelievable. |
Semper247:HABA BROS! Ghana is far o! When Benin Republic and Cameroon are just next door. |
DASUKI AGAIN!!! Chai! Pavore9:ATM? The dude was the real Central Bank governor. |
Chigold101:Guy, even I am not ready for argument. Gowon was kicked out in 1975, just about 6 years after the civil war ended. Since then we have had several governments, both military and civilian. Have we not had Ndigbo officers in the top echelon of the military? Generals, Vice Admirals, Chief of Naval Staff, Chief of Air Staff, etc that could have influenced recruitments to favour their kinsmen? If majority of Ndigbo wanted to join the army they would have done so, but they chose a different option. This may be because the average Igbo man is largely independent and may not be interested in joining a force where he will be saying "yes sir, yes sir" to someone. Owning their own business and being their own boss appeals more to them. Even you cannot deny that fact. We practically left the military for the Northerners. |
ubecharles:Er, bro your logic is kinda skewed. To start with many people who are not from Lagos by origin still get counted as part of its population as long as they are in Lagos when the census was held and didn't travel back home to be counted in their state of origin. Secondly, the private sector employs more people in Lagos than the public sector (federal and state), unlike some states that are seen to be "civil service states". Lastly, most Lagos indigenes are more likely to be working with the Lagos State government than even the federal government. |
Chigold101:Stop for a moment with the propaganda and be honest with yourself. Most southern parents are more interested in seeing their kids become Doctors, Engineers, Lawyers, Accountants and what not than having them join the military. We are more interested in seeing our kids get a University education than going into the Army. I have also worked in a military barracks before some 12 years ago and had dealings with officers and soldiers alike. You even tend to have more Southerners in the officers corp than you have among the soldiers. We simply gave control of the military to them by our actions and inactions. |
obstead200:Yes "today today" because of increasing rates of unemployment. But was that the case say 10, 15, 20 years ago? |
