I for one believe marriage should be based on a strong relationship grounded in love whereby one is willing to sacrifice anything in order to be happy with that one person with whom a family can be grown.

However, I decided never to get married not now not ever because I don't have the heart to offer anyone that kind of true unconditional love nor would I pretend to anyone anymore just to conform to expected societal standards.

Its not all women a man dates that he wants to spend his life with, but women being crafty usually use some method to trap an unwilling man into promising what he never intends by using various forms of emotional blackmail. Intelligent men look b4 they leap and assess their options thoroughly even if it means going back on a wrong decision.
Only weak men are coerced into marriage with any girl because of some sympathy shrouded reasoning or a wrongfully extracted verbal commitment.

As per my first love, we tried getting back together but it was never the same again, i just couldn't flow in the same light as b4 and finally had to be honest with her and we called it quits.

For years I've tried so hard to get in the mood to love someone as much as they love me but each time it feels like am just acting a script which I do my best to perfect. Most of my exes would describe my relationship with them as the best they ever had, however to me it was all like playing a role which am perfect at and while they have lovey dovey memories, its just to me a duty I had to perform.

I could live like that for years but being true to myself is being alone and free. As per STds I use protection very well and I care a lot about personal hygene.

Finally Are you saying that there are no people, men or women who don't need to be in loving arms? I believe there are some even here on Nairaland, I only went to see a shrink to ascertain it was a normal thing and from what I learnt some of us are gifted and can do without the whole love shinenighans.

Its like being honest doesn't pay with girls. Why is it when you are honest about your feelings with ladies you end up being called an evil heartless beast.

I started out quite well in my journey but was heartbroken by the only girl I ever truly loved several years ago and ever since then, I moved on, learning from books, magazines and seminars how to be a perfect lover so I could keep my next one.

I got into other relationships and tried so hard to fall in love, I played by all the rules of being the perfect guy, was caring, supportive, inspirational, romantic, selfless, respectful, honest, sensual and all. I never even pestered any of my girlfriends 4 sex, I never cheated and was just perfect. The only problem was that I could never truly fall in love again. I was in relationships but never in love, however becos of my way of life, my partners got deeply in love and desperate to keep me forever, honestly I've tried sooo hard to love again but the best I have been able to achieve is strong likeness but my honesty to partners over this issue makes me a heartless person, would it have been better if I lied?

In all my past relationships I was never the first to innitiate sex, even with the virgins who wanted to keep it for the wedding night, they ended up seducing and giving it to me both of us thinking it would bring a bond that could grow into love. It didn't work.

No am not gay but I have actually never gone out of my way to toast a lady, somehow we just click and get into the move hoping stuff gets serious but we always end up the same way, she deeply in love, me indifferent.

Now I have a chain of ex girlfiends most of whom I broke up with or who broke up with me as a result of my being honest about my inability to fall in love with them. Each of them still friends with the hope that ill one day come around and realise I was actually in love with them, they text call or bump into me by accident and we end up trying to rework our past. But it never works cos I can't fall in true love and WON'T marry someone who loves me while I don't love her.

I later gave up on this luv relationship thingy and just hung out with NSA (no strings attached) girls, most of who try to do ojoro by springing up the love card later in our relationships. I therefore decided to stay single and free which am so loving right now! worst case scenario I get a one night stand which are abaundant in all places.

I know there are people like me, young, having a good career, financially secure (good job,car, tasteful appartment, savings, investment and all that), smart, handsome, witty and honest yet happy being single and free and not feeling needy of a love life.

So ladies if u found a perfect man who can't seem to feel exactly the way u do, or can't say 4 sure he loves u, don't castigate him, don't try to force him and don't call him wierd, quite a number of us are wired this way and only settle for the reasons of societal expectations of us. I actually saw a shrink in the Uk, who says am ok! Or do you think I have a problem?
