Earlier this month, Nigerian DeeJay, DJ Kaywise, had a ghastly auto crash in Abuja, alongside a colleague and his twin brother and the DJ has just opened up on the incident that almost took the lives of the occupants of the car. In a chat with Sunday Scoop, DJ Kaywise stated that it is only God that can explain how the four people inside the car survived without sustaining serious injuries. “The news of my accident wasn’t a publicity stunt. It happened in Abuja while we were rushing to the airport because I had another show in Lagos. I wasn’t aware what happened but the next thing we knew was that the car somersaulted. We were four in the car and no one sustained serious injuries. All I did was close my eyes and prayed to God to save us. “After coming out of the car, I knelt down on the road to thank God. The car was really damaged.” Kaywise also stated that his twin brother was one of the people in the car when the accident occurred, adding that he couldn’t inform their parents because he didn’t want them to panic. “By the time I woke up the next morning, the news was everywhere. I then felt it was better I called my mother before people started calling her,” he said. https://lailasnews.com/how-my-twin-brother-and-i-escaped-death-dj-kaywise/ lalasticlala

Nigerian singer who also doubles as a SARS operative, Abayomi Ekundayo, otherwise known as Yomi SARS, has admitted that the campaign to end the Special Anti-Robbery Squad in Nigeria, popularly tagged END SARS campaign, affected his music. Yomi SARS stated that at a time, he was enjoying good following in the music industry, but it later became a struggle for him (to shine). He told Sunday Scoop: “I was one of the originators of the shaku shaku dance. The dance style became popular last year, which was the season I released my hit song, Adoyoyo. Songs such as Legbegbe, Shepeteri and Egewere were also newly released at the time. While the other songs went on to enjoy more attention, it was not the same for me. Things became worse and the public’s attention shifted from me.” However, Yomi insists that he is a man of faith who believes that is how God wanted things to unfold. He said: “Since the campaign to scrap SARS has ended, people have been embracing my music more. By the time my new mixtape circulates well, I am certain that more people will get to appreciate my talent. “I was supposed to perform at Olamide’s concert last year but I couldn’t because of the tension. It was a serious national issue at the time and people saw me as one of the SARS officials even though I had left the unit many years ago.” Yomi also claimed that he usually rescued celebrities whenever they had problems with policemen. He said, “Trust me, I always look out for celebrities whenever they have issues. If you call me at 2am, I will pick the phone because I’m a light sleeper. If I can’t solve the case myself and I am certain you are innocent, I will meet with my bosses for help. I have always wanted to bring the police closer to the people.” https://lailasnews.com/how-end-sars-campaign-affected-my-music-career-yomi-sars/ lalasticlala

A lot of fans of Nigerian singers Wizkid and Olamide got jittery when it was announced Wizkid's show in December will hold on the same day with latter and fans are already confused on which one to go for. But in a chat with Sunday Scoop, Olamide confirmed the news, which had been circulating on social media. He said: “It is true that the two shows will happen on the same day. The population of Nigeria is huge and everyone cannot fill up one event centre.” The rapper-turned-singer also insisted that Wizkid’s show would not affect the success of his own show. “I believe the sky is big enough for all birds to fly without touching each other. I honestly don’t feel there will be any negative effect. If you switch on your television set, I am sure you have many options; so, it is left for you to decide which station you stay tuned to. That is how I see things,” he said. Olamide maintained that he didn’t have any inkling the date of Wikzid’s show would clash with his own. He said, “I am not living in his (Wizkid) mind, but I don’t think anyone has an issue with it and I am sure we will both make good money from the shows.” Olamide also stated that he held no grudge against the National Broadcasting Commission for banning some of his songs. He said, “I don’t think it is possible to please everyone. Even in the Bible, there were people who didn’t like Jesus despite all the wonderful things He did. “I am not trying to please anyone; I am just trying to make music. If you like my songs, it is okay. If it turns out that you don’t like it, it is cool too. I don’t feel NBC always targets me or my songs; I just feel they (officials) are doing their job.” https://lailasnews.com/having-same-date-with-wizkids-show-cant-affect-mine-olamide lalasticlalaa

Just as Nigerians will say Thunder will fire you. Singer Burna Boy has the same reservations for American celebrity Blac Chyna as she prepares to travel to the country to promote a lighting cream. Just yesterday, Nigerians have trooped to the social media to call out Blac Chyna over her plans to sell the creams for a whooping N90,000 when she tours the country. The rather exorbitant price of the cream had aggravated Nigerians and most people wondered why a non-African will come down to the country to degrade the women-folk. Burna Boy took to his Instagram Stories to warn women not to buy Chyna's products which he termed "poison". He assured them that their black is beautiful, then went on to slam Chyna saying the thunder that will fire is still wearing Balenciaga sneakers https://lailasnews.com/thunder-will-fire-you-if-you-sell-cream-in-nigeria-burna-boy-to-blac-chyna/

An attempted bank robbery in Ile-Ife, Osun State has been repelled by officers of the Nigeria Police Force and members of the vigilante group in the area that accommodates about 7 commercial banks. Punch Metro reports that the robbers, who stormed the area in a Toyota Camry car and a bus, parked near a commercial bank in the area and shot continuously into the air to scare away people. However, policemen attached to the banks and members of the vigilance groups within the vicinity responded with stronger force, forcing the robbers to beat a retreat. “When the robbers arrived Lagere, they parked their vehicles a few meters away from the banks. “You know, about seven commercial banks have branches in the area. At the time they arrived, activities in the area were just picking up. Customers were moving in and out of the banks. “They suddenly began shooting into the air to scare people away; but policemen attached to the banks and vigilante boys responded with stronger force, shooting at the direction of the robbers. “The robbers escaped through Akarabata area, Modakeke; and moved out through Ondo road. “They were given hot chase by the combined team of policemen and vigilante boys,” a resident of Lagere, Adeolu Olagunju, said. When contacted for reaction, Police Public Relations Officer for Osun Police Command, Folasade Odoro (SP), confirmed the incident and said that policemen were on the trail of the robbers. “Their attempt on the banks failed. Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, has kicked off his presidential campaign for the 2019 presidential election and he called it The Atiku Plan. In an ongoing live broadcast via his verified Twitter handle Atiku Abubakar @atiku, the ex-vice president said: “Today, I am formally presenting myself to you as the presidential candidate of not just the @OfficialPDPNig, but of the hopes and aspirations of all Nigerians.. “The most important question in this election is: “Are you better off than you were four years ago? Are we richer or poorer?” That is why our primary focus is on getting Nigeria working again. “I am strongly of the view that I am just one Nigerian and one Nigerian cannot be as wise as all Nigerians. That is why I will offer an inclusive leadership. “Atiku Abubakar is 100% for 100% of Nigerians, 100% of the time.. “Too often, Nigerians have been promised better governance by those seeking their votes. “Such individuals have preyed on the legitimate desires of our people for their conditions to be improved, that they make all sorts of promises. “I am not one for making grandiose promises. Rather than promises, I believe in policies. “A promise is an indication to do a future action. A policy is a plan to achieve future goals. “As the International Monetary Fund stated very recently, it is the failure of this government to have a coherent and comprehensive set of policies combined with poor leadership that has led to its failure to deliver. “Over the last 18 months, I have worked with the best experts Nigeria has to offer to come up with policies and plans that when implemented will get Nigeria going in the right direction again.” https://lailasnews.com/atiku-launches-presidential-campaign-calls-it-the-atiku-plan

Ghanaian actress, Juliet Ibrahim and Vector dating rumours are spreading across the social media after the duo made same cryptic romantic posts, which insinuate something might be on between them. Just as some people might have suspected, the posts might be for a project, but it was Juliet’s responses to comments which have many believe there is more to it. Remember, the actress was recently going on a ranting spree after it looked like she wasn't cool with her break-up from former boyfriend and rapper Iceberg Slim. In her rant, she revealed that it would have been nice if ladies keep their Side Niga*s while with their boyfriends as they would have something to easily fall back on anytime something went wrong. Although some of her fans have advised her to keep it calm as she just left a rather toxic relationship and it would be quite fatal if she falls a victim the second time. Some even argued that since Vector is a better rapper, then he would fill up the space Iceberg Slim left in her heart. https://lailasnews.com/are-juliet-ibrahim-and-vector-dating-fans-react-to-romantic-posts lalasticlala

Senator Eyinnaya Abaribe, and three other people who stood sureties for the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, have been ordered by the Federal High Court in Abuja, to within two months, pay the sum of N100m each into the court’s account for their inability to produce the missing Biafran activist in court. Justice Binta Nyako gave the order on Wednesday in a ruling in which she amended the conditions of the bail she had in April 2017 granted Kanu, The Punch reports. Kanu is being prosecuted before the court on charges of treasonable felony. His trial had been earlier separated from that of his co-accused following his disappearance after a military invasion of his home in Afara-Ukwu, Umuahia, in Abia State, on September 14, 2017 The three sureties who guaranteed his bail had been made to sign a bail bond of N100m each which was backed by their landed assets whose documents were deposited in court. But with the amendment ordered by the court on Wednesday, they are now required to deposit cash of N100m in the bank account of the court. Justice Nyako ruled that the three sureties had two months to pay the sum of N100m each into the court’s account. The judge reiterated that the order directing the sureties to pay the money was an order of interim forfeiture. She fixed March 28 for the hearing of the motions filed by the sureties to challenging the duties imposed on them to produce the IPOB leader. https://lailasnews.com/judge-orders-abaribe-others-to-pay-n100m-over-kanus-absence/

Four men have been arrested on suspicion of murder following the fatal stabbing John Ogunjobi, the Nigerian teenager killed in London, police have said. The 16-year-old, from Tulse Hill, south London, died from his injuries after being attacked on 5 November. Detectives said on Monday they had arrested four men, aged 20, 21, 22 and 23, who have been taken into custody at south London police stations for questioning. Officers were initially called to Greenleaf Close, Tulse Hill, shortly before 11pm on the day of the attack, finding the teenager collapsed in the street with stab injuries. Despite the efforts of paramedics he was later pronounced dead at the scene. The teenager died in front of his devastated parents, with one witness describing his mother’s screams. Metropolitan Police officers returned to the scene a week on from the attack to appeal for any witnesses to come forward. Officers also asked for anyone who may have captured footage or images of the incident on their mobile phone to get in contact. Detective Chief Inspector Richard Vandenbergh said: “We believe the victim was attacked by a number of suspects and the altercation would have undoubtedly drawn the attention of those who were in the vicinity. “Did you see or hear anything? If so, no matter how insignificant you think it may be, please call – your information could prove to be crucial.” Police earlier confirmed that a post-mortem examination found the teenager’s cause of death to be a stab wound. In the week from 31 October, John Ogunjobi was one of five people stabbed to death in London in separate killings. So far in the capital this year there have been 119 violent deaths, including two cases that are being treated as self-defence. https://lailasnews.com/4-men-arrested-over-the-death-of-nigerian-teenager-killed-in-london lalasticlala

President Muhammadu Buhari on Monday , in Paris, France informed Nigerians in Diaspora that the country’s electoral process has not been fully fine-tuned to permit their participation in the electoral process, adding that they will consequently not be allowed to participate in the 2019 general elections, in Nigeria, Vanguard reports. The President who was speaking during an interactive session with the Nigerian community in Paris, on the sideline of the Paris Peace Forum, President Buhari said about five percent allocation to the education sector was inadequate to propel the desired growth for the economy, pointing that United Nations target of 26 percent remained ideal. On the participation of Nigerians in Diaspora in the forthcoming elections, the President said the population of Nigerian citizens in various countries across the world already necessitate their inclusion to elect leaders, noting that it might not happen in the 2019 elections as the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, had been more focused on strengthening and consolidating on its achievements of conducting credible elections within the country. He said: “I am doing my best now to utilise our resources to develop the country. We are already getting results on road, rail and power. My frustration is that some people still have plenty stolen monies stashed in Europe, US and other countries.” He said it could happen in future, the President said the Constitution had taken into cognizance the need for representation in the political structures to ensure harmony, urging more people to pick interest in governance and quality representation. https://lailasnews.com/you-wont-vote-in-2019-buhari-to-nigerians-in-diaspora/

No less than 18 vehicles were destroyed by hoodlums in the early hours of Sunday in the Oyingbo area of Lagos State during a clash by the touts. Traders plying their trades in the area were also reportedly robbed in the clash. It was gathered that the hoodlums, who reportedly numbered more than 25, were fighting for territorial supremacy on the streets of Oyingbo. Punch Metro gathered that some of the vehicles vandalised by the hoodlums included interstate buses used in transporting farm produce to the Oyingbo Market. One of the market women, Alhaja Moji Kadara, while counting the losses incurred as a result the fight, said the extent of damage was unprecedented. She said: “It has been about six months now that they (hoodlums) started fighting; they would come into the community and destroy things. “On Sunday morning, before I arrived at the shop, I was told not to come early because the boys were at it again. By the time I got there, I saw that they had already destroyed numerous vehicles, including three of the buses that bring in agricultural produce for us from Ile-Ife, Osun State. “The drivers had to run for their lives when they sighted the hoodlums. The hoodlums stole the battery of one of the buses, broke the windscreens of two others and stole the vehicles’ particulars. They also stole the drivers’ phones and money. I have never witnessed such vandalism before.” The leader of fruit sellers in the market, Alhaja Fausat Shogbamu, said the fight broke out around 1am and lasted till about 4am. “I live in the community. The hoodlums broke into six shops and stole every valuable items and money they could lay their hands on. Those selling vegetables were also robbed of their money. They vandalised every vehicle parked on Coates Street, Oyingbo Road and Borno Way; in total, 18 vehicles were destroyed,” she added. However, upon visitation the scene of the incident, seven of the badly damaged vehicles were still parked on the streets, while the others were said to have been evacuated by the owners. A community leader, Lateef Lasisi, called on the government to make a police patrol team available in the area to put the hoodlums in check. He said, “The traders in this community are into the sale of agricultural produce. The little they get as proceeds are what they use for training their children through school. Imagine some miscreants breaking into their shops and stealing their money. What we ask from the government is that a police patrol team should be provided for the area any time from 8pm. “Those bringing the goods from the farms didn’t know what was happening in Lagos, only for them to have their vehicles vandalised on getting to Lagos. It is not fair at all.” The Baale of Oyingbo, Chief Adegboyega Junaid, said the boys were only using the fight as an alibi to steal. Junaid stated: “The boys perpetrating these acts are between the ages of 14 and 16. It is when they want to steal that they claim to fight each other and in the process, they vandalise cars, snatch phones from people, break into shops and even injure some people. “All that were destroyed were valued at about N5m. We have lodged our complaint with the Denton Police Station and we are making attempts to find a permanent solution to the menace.” The state Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Chike Oti, said some of the boys had been rounded up, adding that investigation was still ongoing to arrest those who were at large. Oti said: “We received a distress call that a group of boys were engaged in a free-for-all in the Oyingbo/Ebute Meta area of Lagos. A quick intervention team from the Denton Police Station was deployed in the location and brought the situation under control before it escalated. Fifteen hoodlums were arrested. “One of the boys has made a confessional statement, claiming that he and the others engaged in a territorial battle for supremacy. He took us to where they kept their weapons and we have been able to recover eight machetes and two daggers. Investigation is still ongoing and as soon as it is completed, they will be charged to court.” https://lailasnews.com/18-vehicles-destroyed-by-touts-traders-robbed-in-lagos-clash/ lalasticlala

A neo-Nazi couple await sentencing after been convicted of being part of a terrorist group and also naming baby after Adolf Hitler. Adam Thomas, 22, and Claudia Patatas, 38, were found guilty of being members of the extreme right-wing organisation National Action, which was banned in 2016, Yahoo News UK has reported. The jury at Birmingham Crown Court was told the couple, from Waltham Gardens, Banbury, Oxfordshire, had given their child the middle name “Adolf”, which self-confessed racist Thomas said in evidence was in “admiration” of Hitler. Photographs recovered from their home showed Thomas cradling his newborn son while wearing the hooded white robes of a Ku Klux Klansman. A third defendant – a leading member in National Action’s Midlands’ chapter, warehouse worker Daniel Bogunovic, 27, of Crown Hills Rise, Leicester – was also convicted of being a National Action member. Former Amazon security guard Thomas and Patatas, a photographer originally from Portugal, were found guilty after a seven-week trial at Birmingham Crown Court. Jurors were told Bogunovic already had a conviction from earlier this year for stirring up racial hatred after being part of a group that plastered Aston University, in Birmingham, with the group’s offensive stickers. Thomas, a twice-failed Army applicant, was also convicted of having a terrorist manual, namely the Anarchist’s Cookbook, which contained instructions on making “viable” bombs. The Crown’s case was that after being banned by the government in December 2016, National Action simply “shed one skin for another” and “rebranded”. Thomas, Patatas and Bogunovic will be sentenced on December 14. https://lailasnews.com/couple-to-be-sentenced-for-naming-baby-after-adolf-hitler/

A friend to a lawyer who allegedly murdered her husband, Maureen Offor, on Wednesday told a Lagos State High Court in Igbosere about a text message that the lawyer, Udeme Otike-Odibi, sent to her on May 3 around 12.04am, after stabbing husband to death. Punch Metro reports that she stated in the text message that she had done something terrible. Forty-eight-year-old Udeme is standing trial for allegedly stabbing her husband, Symphorosa Otike-Odibi, to death at their residence on Diamond Estate, Sangotedo, Lagos State. Udeme was also alleged to have mutilated the corpse of her husband after killing him. Offor, at the Thursday proceedings, while being led in evidence by the Director of Public Prosecutions, Titilayo Shitta-Bay, said she was surprised when she saw the message as Udeme was billed to travel out of the country that day. She added that she replied to the text message saying that she thought Udeme had packed her things for the trip. She said: “In the text message to her, I reminded her that our agreement was that she should travel first and take care of her health because she has a thyroid problem. We agreed that when she comes back, we will address the relationship with her husband and see if the marriage will work out. “She sent me a second message that read, ‘I have tried.’ I called her several times, but she did not pick the calls. I sent Udeme another message asking why she did not pick my calls, but she did not reply till I went to bed. “Around 4am, I got a call from Udeme’s mum that Udeme and Symphorosa had had a fight, asking if she should come to Lagos. But I told her that Udeme was billed to travel to the UK that day that she should exercise patience. “I called Symphorosa’s younger brother, Andrew, around past 5am; he did not pick the call. Later, Andrew called back and I told him that I received a call from Udeme’s mum. He said he also received a similar call from his mum the previous day that Udeme and Symphorosa were fighting. He added that they were adults and should be able to resolve their issues.” Offor stated that Udeme’s mum called back and told her that Symphorosa was dead, adding that she started screaming until her husband came to collect the phone from her. Offor, who said she had known the defendant since 1992 when they were both employed by Diamond Bank, added that Udeme was her chief bridesmaid when she wedded in 1996. She stated further that since they met in 1992, they had been friends, adding that she knew the deceased at the University of Benin. Offor said: “I knew the deceased for over 30 years; we met at UNIBEN and he was my elder brother’s friend and was even my elder brother’s best man when he got married in 1998. “The deceased and the defendant got married in October 2014. I was present at their wedding; I was aware that they were having issues in their marriage and Udeme wasn’t happy. I knew because she confided in me last year that she was travelling to the UK to take some time off. “She came back from the UK before Easter and she told me that Symphorosa wasn’t eating at home, so she did not bother to cook his food. I advised her to cook for him even if it was a small portion. “On May 2, 2018, I saw Udeme; she had called and asked me to assist her to pack her things, so I drove to their house on Diamond Estate, Songotedo. We packed the things she needed for another UK trip and we went to a cinema to see a movie.” During cross-examination by the defendant’s counsel, Oluseye Bamgbose, Offor said the defendant was a peaceful person and that for the 26 years that she had known her, she had never seen her arguing with anybody. The presiding judge, Justice Asedayo Akintoye, adjourned the matter till October 30, for continuation of trial. https://lailasnews.com/lawyer-sends-text-message-to-friend-after-stabbing-husband-to-death/ lalasticlala

A Kenyan woman has been arrested over allegations that she drugged her 35-year-old son for being jobless, which made the man sleep for 3 days before regaining consciousness. According to reports, after the man had gone under the influence of the drugs, she then tied him down to a post in their house to prevent him from relating with other unemployed young people in their village of Eb’biba in Khusikulu Wemilabi, Vihiga County. According to Tuko.co.ke, the mother said she had become tired of her unemployed son’s habit of hanging out with villagers for baseless talks every day and returning home in the evening. A social media user identified as Egor Efiok has taken to Facebook to urge Nigerians to boycott the new cab hailing system Mr Taxi over what she considered as an alleged usage and dumping of Nigerian actor Jim Iyke. Egor Efiok believed that the company rode on the popularity of the actor to publicize the App before claiming that he wanted a share in the company and was parading himself as the CEO. She wrote: This Mr Taxi App Austin is a big MUMU and I urge all Nigerians to boycott his service and use Ubi Franklin's own, Taxify or Uber instead. After using Jim Iyke's name and brand to garner publicity, he is now calling Jim Iyke out as an impostor. In the same breath, he also quips, "Jim Iyke is my friend". With friends like him, who needs enemies? If it weren't for Jim Iyke, I would never have heard of Mr Taxi App. He now claims that Jim was only hired as a brand ambassador and then started asking to be a shareholder. So what if he asked to be a shareholder? Is he not a businessman? Jim has several other businesses and does not need his ponkious Mr Taxi App. He was only helping out a friend and now this is the thanks he gets in return. It is just the same way a filmmaker decides to front Idris Elba or any other big celebrity as producer because they know that these celebrities would pull massive crowd and returns. I am certain that this is what this ingrate of a man agreed with Jim and then suddenly became jealous, as Jim stole the show. He is not a proper businessman and just shot himself in the foot. If celebrities refuse to help people, they will be labelled as snobs etc...would you blame them after encountering ingrates like this Austin man? I repeat, Nigerian celebrities, please if you have loyalty towards your colleague, Jim Iyke, boycott this Mr Taxi App service. Let us see how successful his business will be after running down another man who tried to help him. Rubbish!!! https://lailasnews.com/mr-taxi-owners-vs-jim-iyke-egor-efiok-urges-nigerians-to-boycott-app/
