A group of soldiers of Ekiti State origin who had just completed their recruitment training went on rampage in Ado-Ekiti on Thursday and attacked some policemen on duty. A police Corporal, Abdulkadir Yakub, who was allegedly stabbed with jack-knife, is now on danger list at the Police Clinic, Okesa, where he was rushed to after the attack. Six other persons who were injured during the attack have been discharged from the hospital. The “sin” of Yakubu, a Traffic Police Officer, was that he challenged the soldiers for causing a traffic snarl while extorting money from motorists. He was allegedly stabbed by a soldier identified as Private Ebenezer Babalola. Yakub sustained deep cuts on his head and buttocks and lost much blood. The young soldiers, who were 17 in number, wore the army uniforms and visited the Governor’s Office to pay a courtesy visit to Governor Ayo Fayose after completing their training in Kaduna. Sources revealed that Fayose was not around to receive them. After emerging from the Governor’s Office, the soldiers poured into the streets and stopped vehicles at Fajuyi Roundabout to extort money. Yakub’s colleague, Corporal Monday Agom, who was on duty with the victim when the incident occurred at about 2.00 p.m., said the policeman was attacked by the soldiers after he pleaded with them not to cause a traffic gridlock during their alleged extortion. Agom said: “I was with Yakub at the Fajuyi Roundabout where we were deployed to control traffic. The ‘recruits’ were returning from the Governor’s Office and on getting to the point where we were controlling the traffic, they stopped and started harassing motorcycle riders and motorists for money. “One of the soldiers, Ebenezer, stopped a man in mufti who happened to be a policeman right in his car and demanded the car key, while Yakub was trying to pass him to allow for the next person in line, so as to free traffic which was already building up. “Yakub then explained to him (Ebenezer) that the man he stopped (Boboye Oluwakorede) is a police officer and that he should allow him to go, as stopping him there would cause hold-up, a statement said to have infuriated the soldier who immediately slapped Yakub, before bringing out a jack-knife with which he started cutting him at several parts of the body. “I then joined other people to rescue Yakub from the soldier, who had started shouting ‘I will kill you, idiot; I will kill you, idiot” even as his colleagues had started punching Yakub who was already soaked in blood.” http://ekitidefender.com/2017/12/29/new-recruited-soldiers-stab-policeman-ekiti/ Lalasticlala Dominique Ishilove Mynd44

No fewer than two hundred and fifty-five (255) workers of Ladoka Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH) Teaching Hospital have been sacked by the management of the institution. An internal memorandum signed by one A.M Ajiferuke, dated 27th December, 2017, a copy obtained by the media house on Thursday morning, confirmed the disengagement of workers of the teaching hospital jointly owned by Oyo and Osun States. The list also revealed that 299 other workers of the hospital are to be redeployed to the state service, bringing the total of affected workers to 554. The internal memo reads: Kindly find below the list of disengaged staff as directed by the Oyo State Government and approved by the board at her meeting held on Thursday, 21st December, 2017. We also learnt that axes may also dangle on workers of LAUTECH as the owner- states begin the process of 'weeding'. An internal source who begged not to be named said: The headcount was unable to commence yesterday due to flight delay. The team couldn't fly from Lagos to Ibadan due to unfavorable weather condition. It was further gathered that various unions are spoil for war against the owner-states. However, efforts made by members of the press to get the spokesperson of the Teaching Hospital to confirm the list proved abortive as at the time of filling this report. But Public Relations Officer (PRO) of LAUTECH, Mr. Akin Fadeyi when called to speak on the matter said he could not comment because LAUTECH is different from LAUTECH Teaching Hospital. http://fabinfos.com/breaking-news-lautech-teaching-hospital-sacks-255-redeploys-299/ Lalasticlala Dominique Ishilove Mynd44

There are certain foods that could slow ageing by improving your metabolism and boosting your energy. So, even by the time you hit forty, your skin will still appear smooth with little or no wrinkles. Accordingly, Jumia Food, Nigeria’s No 1 food ordering platform, identifies anti-ageing food you should be eating. Seafood Seafood such as salmon, tuna, mackerel, and sardines contain substantial healthy fats that help moisturize your skin. It also protects the skin from ultraviolet radiation damage naturally. Eggs To protect your eyesight, eat the yolk. It features nutrients that lower your risk of cataracts and age-related eye degeneration. Cucumbers There is a lot of water in cucumbers, which makes it an excellent choice for additional hydration that replenishes your body cells. Also, its silica content is a natural wrinkle fighter that gives your body a radiant skin. Strawberries Strawberries contain flavonoids (healthy chemicals that give fruits and veggies their colour) with antioxidant powers that could keep your heart young. Regularly eating them and other flavonoid-rich foods like apples and pears could also reduce the risk of heart disease. Milk As you age, you lose bone and muscle. Milk helps counter this because it’s packed with two anti-ageing nutrients—protein and calcium. Downing a cup of milk daily won’t be a bad idea. http://fabinfos.com/5-nutritious-foods-slows-ageing/ Lalasticlala Ishilove Dominique

The police in Ogun say they have arrested a 29-year-old driving instructor, name withheld, for allegedly raping and killing one Ms Modupe Taiyese, a National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member serving in Abeokuta, Ogun. The Commissioner of Police in the state, Mr Ahmed Iliyasu, told journalists at the scene of the crime in Abule Ayo area on Thursday that the suspect had confessed to the crime. Iliyasu said prior to the arrest of the suspect, the coordinator of the NYSC in the state, Mr John Okon had complained to the command about a missing corps member in the state. “We went for a powerful technical screening of fact left behind by the last person she contacted, who is the suspect; we are able to arrest him. “We are able to uncover this nefarious act and he led us to this place and confessed. “Technically, the information led to one person, an indigene of Uromi in Edo, who was teaching this innocent corps member, Taiyese Modupe, how to drive car. “The man tactically and deceitfully convinced her on Saturday evening that her driving permit was ready. “She decided to answer his call and he cleverly and deceitfully apprehended the lady and brought her down to this forest where he had a forceful and unlawful carnal knowledge of her. Thereafter, he strangled her to death,” he said. Ilyasu also said the police tracked the suspect, following some passport photographs found at the scene of the crime. “The passport photographs of the suspect were found at the scene of the incident which is a remarkable evidence of crime.” The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the corpse of the deceased has not been removed from the scene of the crime as at the time of filing this report. The police boss advised members of the public to be wary of persons they interact with to avert unpleasant consequences. He, however, restated the commitment of the police in the state to protect lives and property, saying that the state had no room for criminal activities. The suspect told journalists that he dragged the victim into a forest and had sex with her before he strangled her to death. “After I took her to this place, I told her that I wanted to have sex with her, she said `No’, but I dragged her into the bush and had sex with her. “After having sex with her, she said she would tell her family; that was when I tore her cloth and used it to strangle her. “As she was gasping, I ran away,” the suspect said. http://fabinfos.com/driving-instructor-nabbed-raping-killing-nysc-member/ Lalasticlala Dominique Ishilove Mynd44

While speaking during the launch of a job portal in Lagos on Tuesday, the Head, Retail Banking of Diamond Bank Plc, Robert Giles, said that the bank and the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) have introduced a curriculum vitae (CV) web repository and job portal as part of efforts to enhance employment for corps members. According to PUNCH Newspaper, Robert said that in accepting to be part of the portal project, the bank realised that youths needed more of information beyond banking. He said further that the youths need a platform to showcase themselves and their talents, adding that it was a good thing that the NYSC bought into the initiative. “We are proud to work with you (NYSC) and are committed to ensuring the sustainability of this initiative," he said. The Director-General of NYSC, Brig. Gen. Sule Kazaure, said the portal is an initiative of the NYSC Lagos State coordinator, the Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development team and a group of corps members. “The portal is aimed at providing the links between outgoing corps members seeking white collar jobs and employers of labour who desire to employ qualified graduates based on their jobs specifications,” he said during the launch. Kazaure said that despite the obvious difficulty in securing white-collar jobs and the overriding benefits of self-employment, many graduates were still inclined to trying their luck with paid employment. He said, “The portal we are launching will among other benefits, serve as a platform for corps members to get information on job vacancies and market themselves to prospective employers, serve as a large pool for employers searching for suitable candidates, and provide means of verification of credentials.” The NYSC boss said the NYSC had been taking steps to empower corps members for self-employment through the SAED programme and the in-camp and off-camp trainings in various skill areas, in partnerships with the Central Bank of Nigeria and the Bank of Industry through which corps entrepreneurs benefit from start-up loans at single-digit interest rates. The Vice-President, Business Development West, Sigma Pensions Limited, Mrs. Mabel George, said, “Our job is basically about helping people to plan for their future and with this portal, it makes everyone employable. “We are so excited that people can get employed and in turn have savings for their future. I see this as a wonderful initiative by the NYSC. We are here pledging our continuous support to this cause and anything that is going to help this country to become greater we always want to play a part of it.” http://fabinfos.com/nysc-diamond-bank-unveil-portal-graduate-employment-nigerian-youths/ Lalasticlala Dominique Ishilove Mynd44

Pastor Enoch Adeboye, general overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) was ambushed during an early morning prayer walk on Wednesday. The story, narrated by him on Wednesday night, was one of the many highlights of the third day of Congress, holding at the Redemption Camp of the church, along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway. According to the pastor, he was trying to look for a quiet place in the Camp, which is fast becoming a big town, at about 4am, when some people ambushed him for blessing. The high demand for meeting the pastor has often denied him privacy. “If you see a man of over 75 years old walking alone at night, you must know that he is doing that on a purpose, but the people won’t let me,” he recounted. “I tried to veer along a path into the bush, and was relieved to be alone to pray, but they traced me there.” He said finally, he was able to be alone with God, who assured him during the Wednesday programme every yoke of bondage would be broken. He did not explain how he was able to free himself from the people who were following him, but the deliverance service later that day and early Thursday, was attended by millions of people. Another major highlight of the day was the demographics of attendance, which confirmed the spread of the church around the world – now in 196 countries- and the popularity of the Congress. There were delegates from several African countries and many representatives from the Europe and the Americas. The congregation shouted with joy when representatives from countries like Mongolia, Macao, Bangladesh, Thailand, Bahrain, and Peru were announced. So also was the congregation excited by the recognition and praises of RCCG by some of the foreign delegates and representatives. Pastor Mensah Otabil, a renowned Bible teacher, whose powerful ministration was another highpoint of the night, described Pastor Adeboye as, “the foremost Christian influence in the world at the moment,” and praised for his integrity, holiness and leadership qualities. Much later, the Senior Pastor of the Family of God Church in Indonesia, who led a delegation of 21 from that country to the Congress, said through an interpreter that God directed them to come and see the great work he is doing in RCCG, which he described as the “people’s church of the world.” He hopes to “catch the annointing of Pastor Adeboye and the church that makes the impossible, possible.” In another goodwill message, Apostle Omobude, leader of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria, congratulated RCCG for the Congress and its other achievements. Mr. Otabil, noted for the depth of his messages, was cheered by the congregation as mounted the pulpit. Ministering, he said the greatest restorer is Jesus Christ, who like in the example of Zachaeus, does not only save a person but also restore that which was lost. He explained that what one loses in the sinful world is the glory of God, which Jesus came to restore. Glory, he said, has weight, it is the presence of God and the manisfestion of his power. Then citing the incidence on the Mount of Transfiguration , where the glory of God so transformed Jesus, that Peter and John could not look at him, he glory brightness the individual, even his clothes and his environment. He made the point that before the cruxifiction of Jesus, he was able to transfer the glory he carried to others, such that anyone who worshipped and obeyed God could receive His glory. The deliverance Pastor Adeboye’s turn, the last of the day, which is also the highest point came after testimonies by people who had been blessed by God. A youngman, John Odega, fulfilled his promise to God by rolling seven times on the stage over the cure of prostate cancer, after he sat on a bed Pastor Adeboye had used which is on display at the Open Heavens International at the Camp. Many couple testified about how God blessed them with babies after many years of waiting. Pastor Adeboye described his session as a serious one because people were going to fight for their freedom from bondage. He explains that fighting the devil, who attacks at many points, is complicated by the fact he is an invisible enemy, who could even deceive an individual into thinking that they are invincible, while he (the devil) attacks the persons relations. He likened life in bondage to a person with hands and legs bound in prison, a situation which restricts his coast and limits his progress. But he said with deliverance, God’s glory with all its power is restored for a turnaround and progress; enemies become disappointed , some disappear and some others become servants. He listed seven reasons why he believed people were going be delivered that night. After that he made an altar call to enable sinners in the congregation to receive salvation before leading a prayer session he described as warfare, which was preceded with praise singing for God to arise. The session ended at about 12.40 am, as people went away singing songs of victory. http://fabinfos.com/pastor-adeboye-ambushed-rccg-holy-ghost-congress/

A Nigerian man, Mathew Chukwu Nolly (pictured) have said that based on the biblical injunction any lady wearing NYSC khaki trouser has committed a detestable offence before God. He posted this on a Facebook page. “A woman must not put on men’s clothing, and a man must not wear women ’s clothing. Anyone who does this is detestable in the sight of the LORD your God.” Deu 22:5 Based on the biblical injunction , any lady/woman,girl wearing NYSC khaki trouser has committed a detestable offence before God.
