Harrysong says his career progression has been “amazing” since he ditched his former record label, Five Star. Five Star is owned by brothers Kingsley Okonkwo (Kcee) and Emeka Okonkwo (E-Money). Harrysong left the record label under controversial circumstances in 2017, going on to set up his own outfit, Altar Plate. In an interview with HIP TV, the ‘Arabanko’ singer said he’s been making money, playing shows and doing well since he made the decision to walk out of Five Star. He said: “It’s been amazing since I left Five Star. We’ve been doing great work. We’ve been making money, playing shows.” Weighing-in on the dearth of quality in Nigerian songs, Harrysong said there’s been growth. He rated the present output as average in comparison to the below par level of the past. He said: It’s[quality lyrics] coming up. It’s even doing good. It’s better than the other times when we just had shayo and bum bum. “Have you heard? Davido is doing some parables and some things that are happening in Nigeria. “From 20-30 percent we were before, we are now at 50-60 percent” The singer announced that he will hold his first solo concert tagged ‘Kingmaker’ in Warri, Delta state. The Ekiti State House of Assembly on Monday held a special plenary at the foot of the newly commissioned flyover in Ado Ekiti, commending Governor Ayodele Fayose for the infrastructural development of the state and appealing to president Buhari to hands off Ekiti election for the sake of peace. The special outdoor sitting, which was presided over by the Speaker, Hon Kola Oluwawole and attended by 19 out of the 26 members, took the public by surprise, wondering why the legislators drove from the Assembly complex in convoy and held thenplenary at that odd arena for one hour fifteen minutes. The lawmakers had to block access to the flyover and other adjoining roads to hold the session, which led to diversion of vehicles to another direction, resulting in traffic congestion. In the resolutions passed at the special session, the House unanimously commended Fayose for his giant strides in Ekiti and also identified with the continuity agenda that would enable the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) Governorship candidate, Prof Kolapo Olusola and his running mate, Mr Deji Ogunsakin, succeed the governor in the July 14 governorship poll. The Assembly also resolved that ; the federal government presided over by President Muhammadu Buhari should not dabble into Ekiti Election by rigging in favour of the All Progressives Congress(APC) candidate iDr Kayode Fayemi. The house resolved that any attempt to rig the election and would be resisted, just as they advised the Independent National Electoral Commission(INEC) and the security agencies to be above-board and act truly as unbiased umpires. Speaking at the session after contributions from members, the speaker Hon kola Oluwawole, described Dr Fayemi as a serial loser in Ekiti politics, who can’t be helped with any federal might. “We have been hearing that they were planning to arrest us, but we can’t be harassed, cowed or intimidated or kidnapped by anybody (he said) “We register our unalloyed loyalty to Governor Fayose for his good works and we urge the good people of Ekiti State to troop out on July 14 and vote for joint ticket of Kolapo Olusola and Deji Ogunsakin”. He dispelled the insinuation that ten lawmakers were planning to defect on account of alleged frosty relationship with Fayose. According to him, the house is united for Fayose and for continuity agenda. Those who didn’t attend this session took permission. Only one lawmaker is on suspension, the remaining 25 are united as one big family”. While contributing at the plenary, the Chairman House Committee on Information, Hon Samuel Omotoso, said Fayemi popularity has nose-dived to the level that his impending defeat can’t be salvaged by anybody, including President Buhari. “Dr Fayemi’s case in this election is like a case of a patient whose situation has no good prognosis, it means such patient can’t survive. So, Fayemi can’t survive this political fall. At a press conference after the session, Omotoso said : “We have consistently resisted and stated for the umpteenth time that executive–legislature bickering is not sine qua non to legislative performance as some are made to believe. Other lawmakers; Deputy Speaker, Sina Animasaun, representing Ekiti South West II, Leader of Business, Hon Tinji Akinyele, Oye II, Hon. Dayo Akinleye, Ijero constituency, Hon Cecilia Dada, Ilejemeje constituency and Hon Tope Sanmi, Ado II, in their contributions warned the federal government against rigging the poll. They said contemplating such action may end up truncating democracy and create atmosphere of anarchy that could lead to crisis in the State. http://kikiotolu.com/2018-election-ekiti-assembly-holds-sitting-in-public-warns-against-rigging-harassment/ Lalasticlala Mynd44 Dominique Fynestboi

Coca-Cola has launched its first alcoholic drink, a lemon flavoured alcopop, in Japan in a bid to tap new markets and consumers. In a global first for the US drinks giant, three fizzy lemon drinks went on sale on Monday. The product aims at a growing market of young drinkers – especially women. Described by Coca-Cola as “unique” in the company’s 125-year history, the three drinks range from three to eight per cent alcohol. In keeping with the company’s tradition, the recipe is closely guarded but the drinks are modelled on the country’s popular Chu-Hi drinks, usually a mix of local spirit and a range of fruit flavours. Chu-Hi – an abbreviation for shochu highball – has been marketed as an alternative to beer, proving especially popular with female drinkers. Local companies like Suntory, Asahi and Kirin currently dominate the sector for canned Chu-Hi drinks. The most popular flavours are strong citrus ones such as grapefruit or lemon, the latter one being the taste Coca Cola now wants a share of. Coca-Cola says there are no plans to bring the new drinks range to markets outside Japan. Alcopop drinks boomed in Europe and the UK in the 1990s with the likes of Smirnoff Ice and Bacardi Breezer becoming hugely popular. They were controversial, with concerns they encouraged young people to drink more alcohol because of soft drink-like taste. http://kikiotolu.com/coca-cola-launches-first-alcoholic-drink/

Our Daily Manna Publisher Fined! Chris Kwakpovwe Ordered To Pay Church Member N9.5M For Crusade Injury A Lagos State High Court has ordered the writer/publisher of Our Daily Manna, Rev Chris Kwakpovwe and the Registered Trustees of the Chapel of Liberty to pay a lawyer, Tamara Egbedi, of N9, 454,000, for negligence. Egbedi had gone to court to complain about the broken teeth injuries she sustained when she attended a crusade organized by the clergy. Delivering judgement in suit no. LD/359/2011, Justice SBA Candide Johnson said that from the evidence adduced by the parties, it was clear that Ms. Tamara suffered injuries at the venue while attending the crusade. “It is difficult not to observe that for the Defendants who put themselves forward as spiritual shepherds of their sheep that they appear to have demonstrated scant care and concern for victims of their January 2010 spiritual crusade and have likewise by the letter of their lawyers (Exhibit F) dared this Claimant to go to Court, the Defendants appear to have elected carnal warfare over spiritual warfare thus leaving it to the Courts of Law to intervene,” he said. Continuing, the judge said: “It is virtually ridiculous for Rev. Dr. Chris E. Kwakpovwe as the presiding Pastor, and a registered Trustee of Manna Miracle Mountain Ministry and the Publisher/Writer of “Our Daily Manna” (ODM) to invite the general public and the Claimant to a programme which they expected to and which “recorded a huge attendance” and then without any remorse or conscience, argue that they only rented space at the National Stadium so he and his religious ministry owed no duty of care or concern for the welfare and safety of the guests they had invited to their own spiritual “party” or event organized by them. It is this type of reckless impunity and consciencelessness that makes many people complain about callousness and wickedness in Nigeria. “The National Sport Commission (NSC) rented space to the Defendants and it was the Defendants who structured, arraigned and independently organized their event to their own taste and standards…It is in my view, cowardly and irresponsible to invite a guest to your house or other venue for your independent event and then turn to blame a third party for your own want of care and want of organizational due diligence.” Mrs Egbedi sustained injuries when some of her family members attended the end of an anointing service organised by the defendants at the National Stadium in Lagos. The plaintiff in her statement of claims had said she lost seven teeth and suffered other injuries when she fell into an uncovered concrete gutter running in between the seats. She said she informed Rev. Kwakpovwe at the end of the service, who handed her over to Mrs. St. Matthew Daniels, a senior member of the church, who, in turn, asked her to get an estimate of her treatment bill from the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital Ikeja (LASUTH) Dental Centre. She did as she was told and said that to her surprise, the defendants instead of doing the needful, told her they were helping her out of charity. She said the defendants soon changed their co-operative attitude by denying liability after her lawyers, in a March 3, 2010 letter demanded compensation. They had insinuated that the plaintiff’s threat to go to court smacked of gold digging and expressed readiness to “meet you in court.” http://kikiotolu.com/our-daily-manna-publisher-chris-kwakpovwe-ordered-to-pay-church-member-n9-5m-for-crusade-injury/ Lalasticlala Mynd44 Dominique Fynestboi

Rohr stated this during a press conference in Uyo on Friday. According to the German, the measures are aimed at avoiding distraction and instill discipline in camp during the World Cup. “I will do like other teams, but only families of the players will be allowed to see their husbands. Their children will be allowed also, on Sunday after our first match on Saturday. Families of the players are free to see their husbands, not Russians girls or ‘professional girls’. “Our disciplinary measures have to be stronger while in the camp. Players are not allowed to see other girls, except their family members after the game. They can even eat with us if they so like. Each player has his room, no problem for family members, they are free to come,” he said. A man identified as Michael Akpan-Isaiah, was Thursday remanded in prison custody by the Rivers State Chief Magistrates’ Court in Port Harcourt, for allegedly defiling his four daughters. The minors are aged between two and 17 years. 41-year-old Isaiah, an indigene of Akwa Ibom State, allegedly committed the offence between April and May in Port Harcourt. He was not allowed to take a plea on the three-count charge and was not represented by a lawyer. Prosecutor Onyishi Joshua told the court that the accused committed an offence contrary to sections 358 and 218 of the Criminal Code, Cap 37, Vol. II, Laws of Rivers State of Nigeria, 1999. Members of the state branch of Federation of International Women Lawyers (FIDA) were present at the sitting. They announced appearance as watching brief on behalf of the victims’ mother. The charge reads: “That you, Michael Akpan Isaiah, sometime in April, 2018 at Borokiri Sand Field, Port Harcourt, within the Port Harcourt Magisterial District, did have unlawful carnal knowledge of (name withheld) without her consent and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 358 of the Criminal Code, Cap 37, Vol. II, Laws of Rivers State of Nigeria, 1999. “That you, Michael Akpan Isaiah, sometime in May, 2018 at Borokiri Sand Field, Port Harcourt, within the Port Harcourt Magisterial District, did have unlawful carnal knowledge of (name withheld) aged seven years old and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 218 of the Criminal Code, Cap 37, Vol. II, Laws of Rivers State of Nigeria, 1999.” The accused admitted committing the crime, but claimed he was manipulated. But a FIDA representative, Fortune Ada Ndah, dismissed the claims and told the court that he carried out the act in his right senses. She alleged that the incest had been going on even before the two-year-old he also defiled was born. “The accused has been forcefully sleeping with his daughters for the past three years,” Ndah added. Chief Magistrate Zinnah Alikor described the act as an abomination, saying it was wicked and devilish. She blamed the mother for encouraging incest by not having a close relationship with her children. Alikor declined jurisdiction on the charge and ordered that the original case file be sent to the state Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) for advice. She ordered the remand of the accused in prison custody and adjourned the matter sine dine. Addressing reporters after the sitting, Ndah said: “Medical diagnosis conducted on the children showed they have been defiled. “FIDA is not happy about this irresponsible act of a man to his daughters. We will ensure the matter is prosecuted to act as a deterrent to others.” The victims’ mother said she reported to her in-laws when she first noticed the amorous relationship between her husband and their daughters, but lamented that no action was taken. She alleged that her husband threatened and beat her and the children up anytime they complained. http://kikiotolu.com/father-accused-of-sleeping-with-his-4-daughters-in-port-harcourt-remanded-in-prison/ Lalasticlala Mynd44 Dominique Fynestboi

Oluwo Of Iwo Walks Out Of Yoruba Event In Port Harcourt After Organizers Omit Photo From Programme Brochure A mild drama took place over the weekend in Port Harcourt, Rivers state capital, when the Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Abdulrasheed Akanbi Adewale, unexpectedly left a public outing without recourse to the schedule of the programme, as planned by the organisers. He also charged all Yoruba sons and daughters in the state to embrace peace and work together as one united family. Adams, however, berated the Rivers state Governor, Nyesom Wike, for saying the Yorubas have no electoral value. ‘I have it on good record from one of the leaders of Yoruba community in Port Harcourt that the governor allegedly said the Yorubas have no electoral value in Nigeria’s politics. That comment as far as I am concerned, was uncomplimentary to us as a race with over 200 million people across the world. It is sad too that such comment came from a person that lives on peoples’ patronages, particularly, a governor that had in the past, enjoyed the supports of the race all through his political career. Today, as I stand before you, it is my hope and prayer that governor Wike moves higher in his political desire and aspirations to the level where he would need the support of the Yoruba people either in the state or at the national level, then we will show him how important the race is in Nigeria’s politics and the world at large.” Adams noted also that the omission of his picture and that of the Oluwo from the event brochure was done in error, saying there is the need to encourage the organisers of the programme for putting up such historic gathering. http://kikiotolu.com/oluwo-of-iwo-walks-out-of-yoruba-event-after-organizers-omits-photo-from-programme-brochure/

Governor Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo on Wednesday demanded a refund of N33 billion from the Federal Government, being money the state spent on reconstruction and rehabilitation of federal roads in the state. Ajimobi made this demand while receiving a federal government’s delegation to the state, led by the Minister of State for Power, Works and Housing, Suleiman Zarma in Ibadan, the state capital. The Governor who spoke through the Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Olalekan Alli declared that the first four years of his administration was committed to road construction and rehabilitation. He stated that, ” A huge amount of money was expended on the projects and the money had yet to be refunded by the Federal Ministry of Works”. Ajimobi said that the funds expended on such projects should at the completion of the projects be released to the states through the ministry in charge. He, however, called for speedy completion of the Lagos -Ibadan expressway and the Oyo Ogbomoso expressway, which have claimed many lives. Ajimobi said, “Roads in some parts of the state such as Iseyin-Okeho, Iseyin-Baasi-Ago-Are, Oyo-Iseyin and Saki Polytechnic and Saki Junction-Agric roads are all begging for urgent federal government intervention”. He said that the state government would have embarked on the rehabilitation of the roads which he said were of economic importance to the state, but for paucity of funds. He called on the federal government to hand over the maintenance of all federal roads in the country to the respective state governments. The governor reiterated his administration’s support for the ongoing national housing projects in Ogbomoso and Ibadan. He stated that the additional land requested by the Federal Ministry of Housing for the second phase of the housing project had been approved. Ajimobi said that the necessary land documentation in terms of titles for both phases would be made available. Zarma while speaking appreciated the state government’s hospitality, saying the delegation had visited Ekiti and Osun states. He gave the assurance that the federal government was committed to completing its road projects across the country. Zarma said that the ongoing federal government’s projects across the country were aimed at improving commerce and bring the nation out of recession. http://kikiotolu.com/refund-n33bn-state-government-spent-on-federal-roads-in-oyo-ajimobi-tells-fg/ Lalasticlala Mynd44 Dominique Seun

Tinubu, who stated this in an interview with New Telegraph, said that she only comes out when she has something important to say. “I am glad you say you don’t see me every day. I tell people that Alagemo le mi. Alagemo in Yoruba is a special masquerade; it only comes out once in a while. If I don’t have anything to say I don’t come out; I don’t want to be seen. “If I have work to do and I want you all to come, I invite you to come. You know in my first term, I did press parleys that none of my colleagues did. That is the way we play politics. “It is not every time you want to talk. He immediately ordered a senior officer to take us around the office complex and identify the officers. I was able to identify the officers with the help of a senior police officer. Though the officers denied the allegation by saying they had never met me before then, the commander immediately ordered that they be detained pending further investigations and disciplinary action.’’ Itemuagbor stated that the money was returned after he signed the necessary legal documents, noting that the SARS commander in the state personally apologised to him for what he went through. http://kikiotolu.com/police-return-n150k-bribe-after-viral-facebook-post-detain-sars-officials/ Lalasticlala Mynd44 Dominique Fynestboi

The former Deputy Governor of Osun State, Senator Iyiola Omisore on Saturday announced his exit from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and formally declared for Social Democratic Party (SDP). Omisore, in a press statement he personally signed and made available to newsmen in Osogbo, gave a vivid historical allusion to his political career since 1999, saying his new political move would remain irrevocable and irreversible. He stressed that his personality combines toughness and flexibility, which according to him make a good leader in all standards. Omisore argued that those who have “misconstrued” his personality to be arrogance are weak personalities with intent of mischief and practically visionless. His statement read: “It is pertinent to note the historical pathway of my engagement in the political affairs in Osun state, and indeed at regional and national levels. I played a pivotal role in the creation of the now defunct Alliance for Democracy (AD) when the country returned back to democratic ruling in 1999 and I became the Deputy Governor of this great state. “It is intrigues, dishonesty and loss of vision in vociferous attacks on my person that led to my departure from the AD and foray in the PDP. My pathway of commitment to state as a distinguished Senator, and Chair of the Committee on Appropriations speak very loudly of my commitment to Osun state, evidenced in the volume of allocations and projects in the state. “This record remains without a parallel. My commitment to its citizens is without contest as over many years, I have reached to provide access to jobs, enterprise and social assets for our people through my political, professional, business and social networks. “In moving forward, and way from the PDP, this commitment to Osun state shall remain resolute and unshaken. It is my state of origin, the people my people, and where ever I go, I shall remain their dutiful son, and leader. Nothing can change that. “Notwithstanding my enormous contributions over the past years or so to building the PDP, after very deep thought and the widest consultations with my God, my family, my supporters in and outside Osun state, It is with great concern that I have made a very expedient decision today, to withdraw my membership from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and join the Social Democratic Party (SDP). “On the platform of the SDP, I shall with the support of my supporters, followers, and the electorate of the state, seek the nomination to contest for, and by His grace, be elected as the Executive Governor of Osun state on September 22, 2018. “While I have always regarded the entire state as my constituency, as a democrat, I will continue to align with the forces of change that would guarantee justice, prosperity, peace and happiness for our peoples”, the statement reads in part. http://kikiotolu.com/omisore-dumps-pdp-for-sdp-to-run-for-osun-governor/

A Liberty Television journalist, Aminu Nurudeen, suspected to have posted the viral video showing the Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, struggling to read a speech at a public event in Kano, has gone into hiding. Impeccable sources revealed that the Kano State Police Command invited the reporter to its office immediately the video went viral. The video, shows the IG struggling to read his speech at the inauguration of the Police Technical Intelligence Unit in Kano, Kano State on Monday. It was learnt that Nurudeen’s whereabouts had been unknown since the Kano State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Musa Magaji Majiya, invited him on Thursday. Sources said the police authorities were upset with the journalist because he had allegedly disobeyed a directive by the Kano State Police Command to journalists present at the event not to report the IG’s blunder or make the video public. According to sources, the IG’s blunder brought an abrupt end to the event, leading the police chief’s handlers to hurriedly usher him away from the venue of the event. The viral video showed the IG delivering an incoherent speech, which had since exposed him to public ridicule. So Buhari did not see any other Police Officer in Nigeria worthy of the position of the IGP but this Idris of a man that ought not to have gone beyond the rank of Constable? In a part of the transcription of the footage, Idris said, “I mean, transmission, I mean effort, that the transmission cooperation to transmission, I mean transmission to have effect, ehm, apprehend, I mean, apprehensive towards the recommendation, recommended formation effective and effect, I mean, apprehensive at the transmission of…and transmission and transmission for the effective in the police command.” Voice of Liberty had posted the video on Wednesday. It was gathered on Friday that the IG was embarrassed by the trending video and had ordered an investigation into its release. In the video, the police boss stumbled over nearly every word in the address, pronouncing transition as transmission and generally bungling his remarks. The over two minutes video showed Idris apologising to the audience intermittently as he struggled to read the speech which appeared to be a few pages long. As he battled to read the speech, a senior police officer moved to his side to assist him, but he still flunked the speech. A source said that the IG explained away the video to his officers, describing it as doctored. “He has however ordered an investigation into the leakage of the video but we are watching to see how he intends to deal with the individuals behind the viral video without further embarrassing himself and the force,” a senior police officer, who spoke on condition of anonymity, told one of our correspondents. It was gathered that detectives were using the police technical platform to track the original source of the video on social media. It was learnt that bloggers that posted the video might be interrogated by the police for allegedly “peddling a doctored video meant to cast the IG in bad light and embarrass the police leadership.” Idris, in an interactive media chat on the police Twitter handle, Nigerian Police @PoliceNG #Askthepolice, had also told Nigerians that the video was doctored. “Yes, it was doctored,” he said in response to a question from a twitter user who wanted to know why he bungled the speech. The mood at the Force headquarters on Friday was solemn as policemen believed the video was sponsored by the enemies of the IG. “I believe the IG may not be the most intelligent officer, but he is capable of presenting coherent speeches,” a Deputy Superintendent of Police who also spoke on condition of anonymity said. The police spokesman, Jimoh Moshood could not be reached for comments as he did not respond to calls. He had yet to respond to a text message as of the time of filing this report. http://kikiotolu.com/journalist-that-exposed-igps-viral-video-goes-into-hiding/ Lalasticlala Mynd44 Dominique Fynestboi

The Most Rev. Nicholas Okoh, Primate of All Nigeria (Anglican Communion), has appealed to Christians to understand marriage before going into it. Okoh said this in an interview with journalists on the sideline of the opening service of the Second Session of the Tenth Synod of the Diocese of Abuja, at the Basilica of Grace, Gudu, Abuja, on Thursday. Okoh, who is also the Archbishop and Bishop of the diocese, advised would-be couples to understand the dos and don’ts of marriage instead of making children to be produced from their unions suffer what they knew nothing about. “If you notice, there is an increase in divorce; people rush to marry but soon afterward, they are going to court to file for divorce. “We want to be sure that people understand what they are entering into when they say they are getting married,’’ he said. The primate urged parents to discharge their duties very well at home so that their children would have good foundation and the society would be a better place. “We discovered that the problems we find in our society, schools, colleges and universities actually have their foundations in the home. “If the homes do their work very well, if children are properly taken care of, if fathers know their jobs and mothers know their jobs, I think the society will be a better place. “That is why we decided to concentrate on the family,’’ Okoh said. http://kikiotolu.com/why-there-is-increase-in-divorce-anglican-primate-okoh/ Lalasticlala Mynd44 Dominique Fynestboi

Engineer Chibueze Onu has narrated how Pastor Benedict Mgdire of the Lord’s Chosen Charismatic Revival Ministries, Georgia, United States of America (USA) branch, defrauded him of $38,000. This was even as Onu claimed that his son, who attends the Chosen International Secondary School, was chased out of the school for not paying his fees. Onu, who is the Chief Executive Officer of Kenglobal Trade and Industry Limited, said that he was also a member of the church. He said: “I singlehandedly financed the opening of the Mbaitolu and Ikeduru branches of the church in Imo State. What is happening between Pastor Mgdire and I is quite unfortunate. My son, who is schooling in the church’s school, located at Mgbidi Oru West, Local Government Area, Imo State, was sent out of the school because we couldn’t pay his school fees.” Recollecting the genesis of his troubles, Onu said that after Mgdire returned from the U.S., he engaged him in discussions. He said: “I told him that I have a car park space on Apapa-Oshodi Expressway. He also told me that he had his own car showroom in the U.S. He told me that he used to import vehicles into the country and spare parts. One day, he came to borrow money from me. By then, exchange rate was N500 per dollar.” Onu and Mgdire reached an agreement; rather than refund the money, Mgdire should ship vehicles to Onu. Onu said that he sourced most of the money from his banks and other means. The money was later wired to Mgdire. He said: “I didn’t receive any vehicle. I called him several times, but he wouldn’t pick my calls. I suspected a foul play and reported to our General Overseer, Pastor Lazarus Muoka. Our GO told me that, if it was Mgdire, I shouldn’t worry. Other church ministers I complained to about him, said Mgdire was reliable. I was so disturbed, because this was a breach of trust. He duped me! He lured me into his business and deceived me, using the name of God. He told me that if I could send a certain amount of money, he would supply me cars of my choice at a good rate.” When Onu realised that he was about to lose his money, his blood pressure jumped. He said that he almost died, but for God and his doctor. He said: “My problem is that most of the money was borrowed from banks and the interest was galloping every day. At a point, I could no longer sleep. The pastor refused to pick my calls or do anything about our business deal.” Onu said that he tried to report the matter to as many pastors in the church as possible, but at a point, they all allegedly stopped picking his calls. He decided to seek the intervention of their Public Relations Officer (PRO). The man allegedly told him to exercise patience, that the matter was an in-house one. Onu said that eight months after, the bank loans and Mgdire’s inability to fulfil his part of the deal grounded his business and caused his son to be sent out of school. He said: “Financially, my situation was getting worst. I could no longer take care of my family. I went to our GO and asked that the church should assist me; at least for my son to be allowed to continue his studies.” Onu was directed to the church education director, who after listening to him, replied that he was not in a position to do anything. Onu was further pained after his boy was not allowed to sit for his examination. He added: “I called our GO several times until he picked. He told me that a lot of people had problems, just as I do. He said that if I couldn’t pay my son’s school fees, he shouldn’t come back to school. I appealed to him to understand my predicament. I was into importation before now; and if not for what happened to me, I wouldn’t go to the GO to seek assistance for my son to continue his education. Some of the buses the church is using, I assisted to buy them from the U.S. Until now, I have never gone to the church to seek help.” Thinking that his GO’s wife might be able to help, Onu sent several text messages to her, explaining his situation and that of his son. He said: “But my GO’s wife, Mrs. Joy Muoka, didn’t bother to reply my messages. I was surprised because she used to be very nice to my family and I. I don’t know what went wrong. I don’t know my offence against the church. I don’t understand why the church and ministers abandoned my family and I. My financial situation was so bad that my landlord issued me a quit notice because I couldn’t pay my rent.” When everyone, especially his church failed him, Onu started making moves himself. He tried to get information on when Mgdire might come into the country. In the course of probing, he discovered that Mgdire had been to Nigeria several times with consignments, but usually leaves immediately after selling them. Onu had to report the matter to the police. When our correspondent called Muoka about the matter, he said that he was not aware of it. He added: “If there is any issue of such in the church, the people involved should settle the matter.” But Onu said he later recovered a container valued at $20,000 from Mgdire. He said: “We were able to track the container from the U.S., while monitoring his activities. We got information recently from a reliable source that Mgdire shipped in goods, which included vehicles and spare parts in a container. We went to the terminal at Apapa, Lagos, where the container was cleared. Later, we learnt that he moved the container into the country through Ghana. I heard that he has been shipping containers full of goods into the country through Ghana. After selling the whole things, he would travel back to the U.S. without bothering to see me; me that he collected money from for over two years.” On the day that Mgdire entered Landipo Market to contact people to buy some of the cars and parts he shipped into Nigeria, Onu got the information and alerted the police. Mgdire was arrested and moved to the State Criminal Investigations and Intelligence Department (SCIID), Panti, Yaba. Reacting to allegation levelled against him, Mgdire said: “Onu is like a brother to me. What happened between the two of us was a mere misunderstanding. Onu got police to lock me; he’s just suffering my body, not my soul.” Mgdire’s brother-in-law, Dr. Tony Onwuka, who took his bail and stood surety, said that he couldn’t speak with our correspondent until he had contacted his lawyer. Onwuka, however, said: “I believe that the issue between my brother-inlaw and Onu can be settled without going to press or making it public knowledge.” Mgdire’s lawyer, Arthur, said that the two parties involved had agreed to resolve the matter amicably because they were brothers. He disclosed that Mgdire had earlier sent a car and $1,500 to Onu as part of money owed him. The Lagos Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Chike Oti, said that the matter was still under investigation. A neurologist with the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University (ATBU), Dr. Nura Alkali, has opined that the Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris’ struggle during his ‘infamous’ speech at an event in Kano could be as a result of ‘brain block’. We recall that in the footage trending online, the IGP, who visited Kano on Monday to commission the Police Technical Intelligence unit in the state, struggled consistently to pronounce some of the words in his text. The clip stirred up reactions online as some Nigerians described the development as ’embarrassing and a shame to the Nigeria Police Force. However, reacting Dr. Nura Alkali, in a Facebook post explained that contrary to opinions that the IG may be ‘dyslexic, the police boss might be suffering from Severe emotional stress, a non-motor seizure, or transient global amnesia. He wrote, “Having watched the IGP Idris speech video, I can only conclude that he had a brain block. What caused it I cannot tell, since I lack his medical history. But I suspect one of three possibilities: Severe emotional stress, a non-motor seizure, or transient global amnesia. “He is certainly not dyslexic, after all, he has read public speeches flawlessly in the past. And from available evidence, the video was not doctored. I advise the IGP to see an experienced neurologist or psychiatrist, who should also watch the video.” “Some of us find it hard to believe that a medical condition can make a speech sound like a “broken record”. Well, one of such causes is transient global amnesia (TGA) “The main sign of TGA is being temporarily unable to form new memories. This is called prominent anterograde amnesia. During the episode of TGA, the person will seem disoriented in time and often ask questions about the date or their environment over and over again. This may be described as the person sounding like a “broken record.” Meanwhile, the force is yet to issue a statement regarding the controversial video. When the Press contacted the Force Public Relations Officer, Moshood Jimoh, on the ‘authenticity of the video, he simply said, “Yes we have seen it , but you can call back later.” http://kikiotolu.com/neurologist-reveals-why-ig-of-police-idris-struggled-to-read-own-speech/
