The management of National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, has announced the new payment method for all prospective corps members.

The Scheme introduced use of remita to make payment easier for corps members, via the NYSC official portal.

Below is the complete procedures on how to make payment on NYSC portal, using the Remita pay option.

1. PCM should go to the portal home page (http://portal.nysc.org.ng/nysc1/) and follow the following steps:Click on “Login”.

2. PCM enters Email ID and Password to login

3. PCM clicks on “click here to make payment”.

-After a successful login,The PCM will click on “Proceed to Payment,” once the payment confirmation page is displayed, the PCM will be redirected to Remita

-Payment Engine with various payment options.

4. Option A: For Cards and Wallet Payments;

-PCM clicks on “Pay now with Cards or Wallets”

-PCM provides card details, pin and any other information required and if the transaction is successful, the redirect URL is loaded

-Click on status of the transaction..

Option B: Paying in any Bank Branch:

Copy the RRR number generated by NYSC portal and take to any of the approved banks. Click on “see available bank branches” to view the banks.

5. After making the payment at the bank branch, the PCM can check payment status on the URL: https://portal.nysc.org.ng/nysc1/TransactionStatus_remitaa PCM inputs transaction reference number/email id or phone number used in Registering online.

6. Click on “continue” to query Remita and view the transaction detail?

7. Click on “Get status” to view the details of payments.

Ekiti state Governor, Ayodele Fayose, has reacted to the latest attack of Fulani herdsmen in Benue.

Fayose condemned the killing of two police officers and said “it has gotten to the level of terrorism and ethnic cleansing”.

In a statement signed by by his Special Assistant on Public Communications and New Media, Lere Olayinka, the Governor noted that the issue was getting out of hand.

“What is happening in Benue and other middle-belt States is more than a strive between herdsmen and local farmers, it has gotten to the level of terrorism and ethnic cleansing. FG must act now.

“Just now, we heard news of the herdsmen attacking the camp of Mobile policemen, Mopol 13 in Benue, killing two officers by slitting their throats.

Do you call people who could invade the camp of mobile policemen in a guerilla manner & overpower armed Mopol mere Fulani herdsmen?” part of the statement read.

Fayose added that President Muhammadu Buhari must take decisive steps, to stop what he described asan attempt to wipe the Agatu and Tiv people of Benue state off the face of the earth.

“What is happening in Benue and other States in the North-central is an issue that the President Buhari must have to take decisive steps.

We never had killings like these under previous administrations. It is one killing too many!”

Governor Fayose said no one can deny the fact that the Fulani herdsmen have become a nightmare to Nigerians.

“On the Global Terrorism Index, Fulani militant group (herdsmen) operating in Nigeria and parts of the Central African Republic is the fourth deadliest known terrorist group.

“A group declared as the fourth deadliest terrorist group in the world as far back as 2015 cannot be handled with levity by the federal government as being done presently and the earlier President Buhari is made to realize that his main duty is protect the lives of all Nigerians, the better.

“Most importantly, the silence of the people does not amount to their inability to defend themselves. And it should be known to the powers that be that everybody in Nigeria has rights to life.

“Taking lives cheaply and brazenly as being done by the herdsmen is the height of evil which no responsible government should allow. The federal government must have to take decisive steps to end this pogrom and stop playing to the gallery.

“As it is, police do not have capacity to handle the situation in Benue and we will not be surprised if the herdsmen begin to move from one state to the other to cause further havoc because they are getting away with murder daily.

Therefore, the federal government needs to do more; otherwise, Nigerians will begin to see the herdsmen as the APC hit group,” he said.

A former governor of Ekiti State, Otunba Niyi Adebayo, says Ayodele Fayose became governor again by accident.

Otunba Adebayo said this yesterday in Abuja while fielding questions from journalists after the inauguration of a four-member strategic committee which he led to do a forensic analysis of the reasons why the All Progressives Congress (APC) lost the just concluded Anambra State governorship election.

When asked to explain whether the APC could win the forthcoming governorship election in Ekiti State that seemed to be under the firm control of the PDP, he reacted, “Basically, I believe the present governor got there surely by accident and I believe people are more than ready to change the place.”

On the level of preparation of the APC for the Osun and Ekiti States gubernatorial elections, Otunba Adebayo said, “Pertinently, I am somebody from Ekiti and the key player in Ekiti. I can tell you categorically that we are more than ready. I am sure that you've all heard that we are ready for elections in Ekiti.

“I believe all we have to do is to go through the process of selecting our candidate and once we have our candidate, I don't see us having any problems in the general elections in Ekiti.”

On the Anambra assignment, he said the job was meant to find out the reason for the APC loss at the poll and implement the recommendations of the report submitted to get better results at the 2019 general elections.

The Senate Minority Whip, Senator Biodun Olujimi has said the endorsement of the Deputy Governor of Ekiti State, Prof Kolapo Olusola as sole candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, was a wishful thinking.

She also described the killings of innocent Nigerians across the country and sundry hardship being experienced by the citizens as evidence of a failure of governance.

Senator Olujimi said this at the weekend when she hosted her constituents in Ekiti South senatorial district to a “thank you get together party” in Omuo Ekiti, where she distributed items worth N200 million.

Olujimi said her ambition to govern Ekiti State remained intact, adding that the endorsement of the Deputy Governor as the sole candidate of the party was a wishful thinking.

The lawmaker said the party’s national leadership will conduct free and fair primary and the best candidate will emerge as opposed the one that has been endorsed.

She said: “It is the business of the party at the national level to conduct a primary. What happened is just wishful thinking. The party had already said that there would be a free and fair primary and that is where I stand.

“The five of us that are aspirants have come together to say that there must be free and fair primaries. If the primary is fair, only the best will win, not the one that has been anointed.”

The former Deputy Governor, who said that the PDP handed over a good government to the APC in 2015, said people have seen the difference today.

She said for the past two years the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, has demonstrated crass incompetence and lack of profound grasp in the running of a great nation like Nigeria, hence the unprecedented hardship and suffering the citizenry are being subjected to.

Speaking further on what she described as APC wasteful years, she said, “In the last 18 years of this Democracy, I have not seen a government that is poorly managed like this APC-led government. They rode to power on the pretext of populist ideology. They did not have a blueprint on how to govern the country.

“They don’t know what to do up till now. We are just drifting, everybody is just doing what he likes and so, we went into a recession. They say we are technically out of it, but I don’t know what they mean because people are still in recession.

“No jobs anywhere, prices of goods have skyrocketed. The roads are bad. Electricity is zero. A man who cannot put food on his table who cannot send his children to school is in recession. People that are begging are too many, that is not the Nigeria we knew. The Nigeria we knew is the one everybody will eat and drink and some would even travel at Christmas. But right now, it is no longer so.

“We handed over a good government to APC. Forget all the lies and half truth, the bulk passing and the razzmatazz. People have now seen the difference. I am not one to speak evil about a government. This one has failed all of us.

“So people must follow the PDP. The party knows how to govern and have people at heart. Yes, I admit we made mistake. But we know how to regulate ourselves and deliver good governance to the people”, she said.

The Ekiti State University (EKSU), Ado Ekiti, on Sunday directed students involved in cultism and secret society groups to relinquish their membership.

The authorities also threatened to expose members of such groups while skills acquisition courses had been designed to train the students for self-employment after graduation.

The Vice-Chancellor of the institution, Prof. Samuel Iye-Bandele, who addressed a news conference in Ado Ekiti on Sunday, said students engaged in nefarious activities should either repent or quit the institution.

He said the university was fed up with the terror usually unleashed on law-abiding students, especially attacks launched on the university community towards the end of last year.

He used the occasion to condemn the murder of two students in 2017.

According to him, the management has launched a manhunt for the perpetrators and their external collaborators, stressing that suspects who failed to repent would be dismissed from the institution.

He announced that future admission of students would be strict as screening would go beyond perusal of paper qualifications.

“Our determination is to leave this university better than we met it by turning out students who will be worthy in learning and character and anyone or group of miscreants trying to constitute clogs on the wheel of our plans will not be spared.

“If parents could toil day and night to ensure their children or wards excelled in their studies and become responsible citizens in future, I wonder why such children should get to school and choose to look the other side.

“It is not our intention to punish those who reconsider their ways and voluntarily renounce membership of such groups because the Bible says God does not want the death of a sinner but for him to repent and change his old ways,” he said.

The vice chancellor expressed gratitude to Gov. Ayo Fayose for assenting to a law that prescribed life sentence and a death penalty for cultists in the state, especially in institutions.

On issues that would improve academic and administrative standards, Bandele described business and research innovations in institutions as potent weapons to boost the ranking of the Nigerian universities with their counterparts in advanced countries.

He disclosed that his administration had embarked on aggressive revenue generations through the establishment of business ventures.

He lamented the high monthly N500 million wage bill of EKSU while the state government released N270 million as subvention.

”It behoved on the institution to look inwards to meet the demands of the university for proper functioning since government alone cannot shoulder every responsibility.”

He also praised Gov Fayose for according the institution high premium and appealed for more support in the overall interest of the university.

“The global economic recession makes it expedient for university managers to think outside the box.

“Our university is making progress in rice, water and block production.

“We are now making profits in Ekiti markets while a bakery industry would be established.

“EKSU Fish, cow and poultry are also doing well while the moribund university press has been resuscitated to generate funds for the university.

“We know it will be difficult to increase the tuition fee but if we fail to take all these actions, the university could not have been stable in terms of academic calendar due to incessant strikes.

“I want to thank members of ASUU, NASU and SSANU for their understanding.

“When I came on board, I addressed the issues of outstanding promotions and allowances.

“We will try and ensure that no staff or student of this university suffers unduly for lack of fund,” he said.

He disclosed that the National Universities Commission (NUC) had approved the university to run lucrative courses like Insurance, Educational Technology, marketing, library studies and industrial relations among others.

“Before we came on board, EKSU was no longer attractive to students because we only offered traditional courses.

But with these new courses, our admission strength has gone up.”

Bandele added that he was planning to introduce a Faculty of Environmental Science, to prepare grounds for professional courses like Architecture, Building Engineering and Estate Management by the university.

The incident reportedly occurred at a mall in Accra, Ghana. The couple was seen having a discussion at a restaurant when the young man went on one knee to pop the question, he looked shocked when his girlfriend immediately stood up and showed him something on her phone.

Firebrand preacher and pastor-in-charge of Christ Apostolic Church (CAC) Mountain of Mercy, Erio Ekiti, Ekiti State, Prophet Sam Olu Alo, also called for security beef up and concerted efforts to forestall renewed kidnappings in Ekiti State before, during and after the governorship election slated for July.

The cleric and Adamimogo exponent said: “It was shown to me in a vision that some people both young and old will be kidnapped. But in the end, the kidnappers would be arrested,” adding however, that the development had been put before God in prayer.

Alo, who gave the admonition in his New Year message shortly after the second edition of his yearly empowerment programme at Ido Ekiti State, however, assured Ekiti residents of relief, saying “by the time we get to the seventh to eight month in the year, we will be experiencing relief in Ekiti State”.

The cleric, who is the Visioner of Grace of Mercy Prayer Ministry (GMPM) worldwide, assured Nigerians of bliss in 2018, saying “Nigerians will experience plenty in this year 2018” as he urged patriotism and positively confessions about the country.

Alo urged Nigerians to, “exercise more patience as there is a bright light at the end of the tunnel for the country and refrain from passing negative comments and remarks about the country”.

He said that the repercussion for those who have contributed to running the country aground would be grave, adding that some powerful and influential people directing and leading this country in darkness would be no more in the course of the year.

The empowerment programme heralds the nine-day prayer programme of the GMPM with the theme “Mercy Once Again” beginning in Akure, the Ondo State capital, on Saturday to mark the three years anniversary of Seven Hours Seven Prophets programme.

The cleric also paid the senior school certificate examination fees for 31 outstanding students in the community.

He also distributed food items and cash assistance to over 400 widows in addition to training of other members of the Ido Ekiti community in tye-and-dye business and agricultural businesses like livestock rearing.

Alo, who said the exercise was devoid of politics, said God put it in his heart to embark on the empowerment exercise, saying: “Apart from the one I did here in Ekiti, I also did empowerment programme in Lagos on December 31, 2017. About 80 people benefited from free food items and cash gifts in Lagos on that last Sunday of the month.

“One of the problems we have in Nigeria is that we neglect the poor. Even we servants of God in Nigeria, we no longer take care of the widows and needy. The most important duty and command given to us by God is to take care of the poor and needy. It’s unfortunate that today we are only concerned about ourselves,” he said

An aspitant for Ekiti State governorship seat, Engr. Kayode Ojo, has said that the state will only move to higher levels only when people with new ideas, new thinking come into the saddle. This space, he said, he is out to fill.

Engr. Ojo is seeking to run for the governorship of the state on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC). He spoke in Lagos during an interactive session with the media.

He maintained that the culture of waiting for federal allocation from Abuja has been a great bane for the development of the state. Engr. oni, who claimed that he has no godfather in his quest for the plum job in Ekiti, however, said the people of the state are his driving force.

Said he, “It is sad that today Nigerians are being fed with lies about what is happening in Ekiti. But the truth of the matter is that in Ekiti today, people are hungrier than they were before the coming of this administration. People if the state are currently in bondage. It is the wailings and cry of those innocent people that is motivating me to come into this project.

“Our people are suffering and it is written all over heir faces. But with me as governor of Ekiti, things will be done differently. You can hardly see any federal presence in Ekiti today because of he attitude of the leadership in the state. The truth is that we need to engage the Federal Government, the National Assembly and so on more than we are doing now to bring development into the state” he said.

Ekiti State Police Command has paraded two suspects, who allegedly dropped the deputy governor, Professor Kolapo Olusola’s name to con unsuspecting victims to Libya slave camp.

They were paraded by the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Mr Julius Okoro.

The duo, Dada Ogundare, and prophetess Omoseeke Komolafe, had, allegedly deceived the parents of the trafficked girls, saying that Professor Olusola had given some party members four slots to travel to Dubai.

Parents of three girls from Ekiti State, who were allegedly given three slots to travel to Dubai but ended in a slave camp in Libya, stated this while fielding questions from newsmen during the parade.

Meanwhile, the state government has written to the NTA Ado-Ekiti, demanding a retraction of the story aired by the station, during their 7:00 p.m. news bulletin.

In the 13-paragraph letter dated January 4, 2018 and signed by the state Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Mr Kolapo Kolade, it stated “without mincing words, the said publication which you knew or reasonably ought to know to be false was solely and maliciously aired to bring to disrepute and public ridicule the person and high office of his Excellency, the Deputy Governor of Ekiti State, Professor Kolapo Olusola and which you have succeeded in doing.

“His Excellency has therefore requested that we demand from you that: ‘You write a letter of apology; publish a retraction of the said offensive, malicious and defamatory publication and give the same publicity given to the said offensive, malicious and defamatory publication; to stop further publication of the malicious and disparaging falsehood; All of the above must be done within 72 hours of your receipt of this letter.”

Ogundare was paraded alongside prophetess Komolafe, who allegedly collected money from the parents of the victims.

The suspects claimed that they only assisted the young ladies, one of whom was pregnant, to seek employment outside the country not knowing that they would end up as slaves.

The victims left Nigeria on November 25 by road, as against by air as being earlier assured that where they were going to Dubai, but taken to Libya where they were sold as slaves.

The parents explained that in their attempt to bring their children back home, the traffickers in Libya demanded N1.2 million from them.

One of the parents, Mrs Margaret Olorunfemi, revealed that both Prophetess Komolafe and herself are members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the same ward with deputy governor in Ikere-Ekiti.

Mrs Olorunfemi disclosed that Prophetess Komolafe told her daughter that the deputy governor had been given four slots for children of party members in his ward to travel to Dubai, adding that they were told to provide N150, 000 to facilitate the trip.

She said that she was worried when her daughter did not communicate with her daughter, adding that she eventually spoke with her on December 10 when she affirmed that she was in a slave camp in Libya.

“My child called on phone that the prophetess had sold her into slavery that we should get N1.2 million before they can be freed from slavery,” Olorunfemi said

Another Ikere woman whose daughter was trapped in Libyan slave camp, Mrs. Feyisayo Adedayo, revealed that her daughter is pregnant.

“My daughter, Ayomiotan, spoke with me on the phone that they went through the desert and not by flight as they were promised.

“I don’t have N1.2 million to send to them to free my daughter. She is my only girl and my last born; I reported the case to the police station in Ikere. I want my daughter back because I don’t want her to die in the slave camp,” she stated.

Another parent of Libya slavery from Ikere, Mrs. Bukola Bamise, said she was shocked to learn that her daughter had been sold as a slave.

The suspected trafficker, Ogundare, told reporters that “she contacted the prophetess to help her find girls interested in jobs in Libya. He claimed he didn’t collect money from the victims.”

Ogundare explained that his wife and younger sister are in Libya, adding that she told the prophetess to inform the girls’ parents of their destination.

“I didn’t collect one naira from anybody, I have so far taken four persons to Libya while madam (prophetess) had taken nine persons to Libya,” she stated

The Deputy Commissioner of Police, however, has warned parents against allowing their children to embark on questionable trips.

He said: “The girls were trafficked to Libya on the pretext that they were taking them to Dubai. Information reached their parents that they are suffering and they had been sold out in the slave camp in Libya.”

The Nigeria Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA) in Ekiti State has urged President Muhammadu Buhari to correct the alleged exclusion of the state’s Muslims from federal appointments.

The body, which described the situation as “injustice”, expressed dismay that the Federal Government gave Muslims no appointment into its statutory boards, corporations and agencies.

In a letter, dated January 1, by its President, Alhaji Yakubu Sanni and Secretary Alhaji Tajudeen Adejumo, the state’s NSCIA said there were qualified indigenous Muslims in the All Progressives Congress (APC) for any federal job.

The body said its letter was prompted by appointments of Ekiti State indigenes as chairmen and members of boards of corporations and agencies by President Muhammadu Buhari.

The highest Muslim body in the land said it considered the exclusion of Muslims as injustice because the 23 appointees from Ekiti State were Christians.

In the letter: Exclusion of Ekiti Muslims from National Appointments, NSCIA said majority of Muslims in the state voted for Buhari in the 2015 presidential election.

It said: “We observed that in all the series of national appointments made so far, we could not find a single Muslim from Ekiti State.

“We see this as serious on us as a people with lots of stakes in this country, given the fact that we have eminently qualified Muslims who are active members of the APC in the state.

“Muslims have always been side-lined in the politics of Ekiti State and we hope that President Buhari will redress this injustice, more importantly when majority of us supported your candidature and victory as President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.”

The group said it was “sure” the President was “not a party to this marginalisation of Muslims in Ekiti State,” adding that it was “surprising that this anomaly was not corrected in the recent appointment, given that Muslims account for about 40 per cent of the population of the state”.

The NSCIA named the appointees and their positions and attached same to the letter addressed to Buhari.

It added: “We respectfully appeal that this injustice be promptly redressed.”

Feyisetan Fayose, wife of Ayodele Fayose, Ekiti state governor, has advised those around her husband against hunting for the downfall of his government.

Speaking during a thanksgiving service organised by the state government, the first lady of Ekiti said those working against Fayose would be exposed.

“Every enemy pretending to be a friend close to the government of Ayo Fayose and working against the government, the Lord will expose them with shame this year. Enough is enough,” Gbenga Ariyibi, Feyisetan’s spokesman, quoted her as saying.

“I want to plead with everyone, don’t hunt for the downfall of this government, don’t even try it.

“God is looking at you, and God is watching. Don’t hunt for the failure of continuity. Why? Because our God is God of continuity, our leader is carrying the unusual grace; if you don’t want to be disgraced, don’t hunt for the downfall of this government, don’t hunt for the failure of continuity, I have said my own.

“It is not him, it’s God through him. Look beyond him, and let’s continue to work together in unity.”

She said God has revealed to her that her husband would occupy a political position higher than that of a governor.

“God told me expressly, years back, that he needed Ayo Fayose in Nigeria,” she said.

“What brought about this was that, I was praying that the trouble of this man was too much, that I wanted God to take politics away from him, to separate him from politics, that I have had too much.

“But God said, ‘Leave him to me, he is in the hollow of my palm, l need him in Nigeria, it is not only Ekiti. He is just passing through Ekiti State.

“In December 2015, the Lord said that we will have series of victories in 2016 when you are expecting victories prepare for battle.

“In spite of all challenges I held on to His word that I will have series of victory and I continued to ask for God’s Grace. If It had not been for the Lord, we would have lost out: it is not because Fayose is a superman.

The Ekiti State Governor, Mr Ayodele Fayose has carpeted President Muhammadu Buhari over claim that some Nigerians were deliberately inflicting hardship on Nigerians by creating the current fuel scarcity and that he was determined to get to the root of what he described as “collective blackmail”, telling the President to “take responsibility and stop blame game for once.”

While speaking on the ongoing fuel scarcity President Buhari had said in his New Year Broadcast that “Some of our compatriots chose this period of inflict severe hardship on us all by creating unnecessary fuel scarcity across the country and that …whatever groups that are behind this manipulated hardship will be prevented from doing so again.”

In a statement issued on Tuesday, by his Special Assistant on Public Communications and New Media, Lere Olayinka, Governor Fayose said; “The president should rather take responsibility, apologize to Nigerians and stop blaming others for his failures because apologizing when you are wrong is the hallmark of honest and sincere leaders. What is wrong if he had said sorry to Nigerians who are at the receiving end of his bad policies? But in the case of President Buhari, he will always have someone to blame for his own failure.

“As a military Head of State, he blamed former President Shehu Shagari’s government. Since he assumed office, he has been blaming his predecessor. And now that he can’t provide fuel for Nigerians, despite claiming to have removed fuel subsidy, he is blaming some unknown Nigerians. When is he going to be man enough to stop his blame game?”

The governor said rather than blaming people, what Nigerians expected to hear from the President was what had been done and being done to stop the loss of millions of jobs and hunger that is ravaging the land as well as wanton killings going on across the country.

Governor Fayose said “Nigerians are aware that petrol is scarce across the country because the federal government deliberately reduced supply since it is only the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) that is importing the product. This is aimed to forcing increment in pump price from N145 to N185 per litre on Nigerians.”

Speaking further, the governor said; “The other time, Vice President, Prof Yemi Osinbajo’s said that the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) was bearing the cost of fuel subsidy and not the federal government and we asked; what is the difference between NNPC and the federal government? Who is NNPC and who is federal government? Is NNPC now an autonomous agency of the federal government?”

“Nigerians are tired of Buhari’s repetitive speeches and unfulfilled promises. Nigerians are crying that he should give them responsive and competent Cabinet.

“Nigerians want the president to create jobs for the suffering masses and make life more abundant for them.

“As at today, everything is wrong with Nigeria under President Buhari. The country is not secured. Look at the horrific and disheartening killings in Adamawa, Kaduna, Benue, Borno and Rivers States between yesterday and today. The President is totally not in charge of the country. The cabals only brief him and whatever they tell him is what he accepts. Nigerians want their president to take charge and stop buck passing.

“He should show to Nigerians that he is a changed president by bringing those looters in his government to book.

“President Buhari should gauge public opinion to see that the people are no longer with him. He should listen to Rev. Father Mbaka who used to be his supporters but has now been telling the truth of how disappointed and frustrated Nigerians are with him.

“People are only tolerating Buhari and counting days and times for them to shove him out of office in disgrace like Mbaka said.”

The Young Democratic Party (YDP) on Tuesday called for the cancellation of the December 23rd local government elections in Ekiti State.

The party said the demand was based on its exclusion from the election without any reason.

National Secretary of the party, Mr. Bolaji Oni, at a press conference in Akure, the Ondo state capital, lamented that his party’s name and logo were deliberately excluded from the ballot paper.

“It was with great shock and embarrassment that we found out through thousands of our members and followers on the morning of the election day that our party name and logo was excluded in the ballot paper”, he said.

Oni, who hails from Ido-Osi LGA of the state, noted that YDP had 8 councillorship and one chairmanship candidates but they were disenfranchised by the commission.

“YDP showed intent and obtained forms EKSCF 001, 002, 003 and 004 and submitted same to the commission for the just concluded local government elections, in line with the guidelines and timetable published by the commission”, the party wrote in a letter to EKSIEC.

“Our candidates were screened in your office and no form of communication was made to us or our candidates notifying that we would be excluded and the reason(s) for the exclusion.

“It took a lot to calm our members and followers down, who felt they are being deprived of their rights and ready to exercise their grievances there and then if not for God and the Party’s State Executive’s quick intervention.

“We hereby write to demand for the reason(s) behind this unscrupulous, unethical and villainous act of the commission. The petition also serves as pre-action notice.”

He revealed that the petition has been submitted to the Resident Commissioner of Ekiti State Electoral Commission, warning that YDP would resort to litigation if its cancellation demand was not heeded.

A former Senate Deputy Chief Whip, Gbenga Aluko, has assured aspirants in Ekiti State that Pesident Muhammadu Buhari has no vested interest in who becomes the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the forthcoming governorship election in the state.

Aluko, who has been a political ally to President Buhari since 2003, said the country’s number one citizen is too disciplined and cautious to rig the primary in favour of any aspirant.

On the recent appointment of 24 Ekiti APC chieftains into the federal government boards, agencies and parastatals by President Buhari, Aluko said the gesture confirmed that the president has tremendous respect for the state and south west, in general.

The APC has over 40 aspirants jostling for the ticket to fly the party’s flag during the July 14, 2018 governorship poll in the state.

Addressing the 2,600 APC delegates from the 177 wards across Ekiti in his Ode-Ekiti country home, on Tuesday, Aluko said he was neither wavered nor rattled by the rumoured governorship ambition of the Minister of Mines and Steel Development, Dr. Kayode Fayemi and that of former governor Segun Oni, who had already declared for the coveted seat.

He said he had traversed all the wards to meet with the delegates to sell his agenda for the party and Ekiti and that he could boast of over 50 per cent support that put him in a good stead to be able to defeat any contestant.

Said he, “I have been President Buhari’s political associate since 2003 when it was not even political safe and wise to support any other party other than the Alliance for Democracy in the southwest. I knew him to be too disciplined and those thinking of his interference in Ekiti primary should bury such thought.

“We did primaries in Edo, Ondo and Anambra and I think the party tried his best to ensure transparency and whoever thinks he will be imposed is wasting his time.

“Aside from this, I am the only aspirant who has built a vibrant industry in Ekiti. The industry worth over N1.5 billion that generates jobs for over 100 youths, this is also additional advantage”.

On Fayemi’s rumoured governorship ambition, Aluko said: “It is still at the realm of rumour and I don’t deal with conjecture. Former governor Fayemi has not openly declared, so it is still a rumour.

“Dr. Fayemi is a former governor and now a Minister and I don’t think he will be afraid to declare openly that he is interested and if he eventually declares , we will all go into the race as one big lovely family”, he said.

Aluko exuded confidence that the party would wrestle power from Governor Ayodele Fayose in the coming election.

Aluko continued, “Dr. Fayemi presented himself for a reelection in 2014 and was deprived of that right, because the government of that time didn’t give a level-playing ground but the coming election will be different and APC will record a landslide victory,” he boasted.

Ekiti State Governor, Chief Ayodele Fayose, has urged Nigerians and particularly the people of his state to hope for an abundant future and not be deterred by the current challenges they are contending with.

In his New Year message to the people in Ado-Ekiti, the governor said, “the insufficiency of today will turn out to the abundance of tomorrow if we all improve on our efforts and dedication.”

According to a press statement by his Chief Press Secretary in Ado Ekiti on Sunday, the governor while thanking the people of the state for the rare opportunity given him to lead them twice, Fayose expressed satisfaction that he did not betray the confidence reposed in him by the people.

He added that the chance afforded him the opportunity to correct some erroneous impression some had about him, and the deliberate mischief peddled against his person towards the twilight of his first term in office.

Reeling out his achievements in office, the governor said he had been able to transform the face of the state from a rustic settlement to modern urban centres through the provision of infrastructure, socioeconomic policies, and other measures.

” During my first term in office, we embarked on the dualization of major roads in Ado-Ekiti. We are however, happy that we have extended the dualization of roads to almost all our local government headquarters. The icing on the cake is the 1.3 kilometers flyover that links Fajuyi Park to Ojumose axis in Ado-Ekiti.

“Just like we did during our first term, we also embarked on the construction of public buildings to make governance and public service more conducive. We built the Adunni Olayinka House, a new Governor’s Office, new High Court Complex, new Ojaba Market, new Speaker’s Lodge among others.

“Our efforts in education and social sector yielded positive results as we improved significantly in public examinations with our state coming first back to back in NECO examinations, ” he said.

Governor Fayose said despite the huge debts left for him to inherit by the Kayode Fayemi administration, he was able to overcome some challenges and achieve results due to the support of the people and the prudent management of available resources.

On the jibes being thrown at him by some opposition figures and antagonists, he noted that he was not bothered because he saw it as people expressing their own views which could be utterly wrong.

On the need for the state to continue with the current pace of development, Fayose called on the people to support and vote his party, the Peoples Democratic Party and its candidate in the coming governorship election.

He reiterated his commitment to leave the saddle without owing any worker or leaving any project abandoned.

Fayose expressed confidence that posterity would be kind to him, as he said he felt fulfilled marking his last year in office as the governor of Ekiti State.

MY OWN EXPERIENCE

I had my University education in Osogbo, Osun state and sincerely, Osogbo is a pain in the neck. All through the years I spent over there, I see young people like myself yelling and complaining terribly about the state.

Yes, at a point, I felt the same way but since I can’t drop out of School, I was left with no choice than to fall in love with the State and get things moving little by little but luckily it came out well.

With the Poor Internet connection and Lack of Ginger/Motivation in the State, I must say but I was determined to succeed irregardless.

Many youths only get motivated by what they see around them but a true hustler will get Motivated from the inside without seeing anything rosy or intimidating around.

Most of us these days tends to get Motivated with what we see around us. The fine houses, dopest rides, lovely mansions and all that.

When you don’t see all this around you, you feel less motivated and and then you finally come to conclusion that you need to move to Lagos and hustle.

Then you think when you see all these around, you will have the Ginger/Zeal/Passion/Motivation/Intimidation to work your Ass out and then things will start falling in place for you As if there is a Magic in Lagos.

WARNING

The moment you see Lagos or Abroad as the only place where you can Succeed , you are finished.

I stayed in one of the Porschest (Let me use that word) area in Lagos “ Lekki ” but let me tell you one truth today, I made the most of my Money while I was in far far Osogbo and when I came back to Lagos, those I left in Lagos still don’t have a bearing or idea on how to go about their lives.

Your Location does not influence how your Life will be in most cases , your Mindset and how hungry you are for success does.

It’s even easier these days to connect with anyone with the help of the Internet. So, you can be in far far Nasarawa and be running affairs in Lagos excellently.

Today, am telling you this, Irregardless of the State you are based, tell yourself “ Am going to Succeed from this Bush ”.

There are many people in Osun, Kano, Jigawa, Anambra, Owerri and many other places that live way/far better than those in Lagos.

Stand on your feet, Do your work properly and diligently, even those in Lagos will look up-to you.

There is no where the Lord’s blessings doesn’t reach – keep this at the back of your mind as you all step into 2018.

At a respectable (by his standards) sixteen tracks length, The Glory is almost sparse, as Olamide begins to consider his legacy both as an artiste and as a father.

8. Illy Bomaye -Ill Bliss

After fatherhood comes introspection it seems and while this is a trajectory that has worked for everyone from Jay Z and Eminem, no one wears the role quite like Ill Bliss. As on past albums, on Illy Bomaye, the rapper’s fifth studio album, Ill Bliss does introspection quite well. With little or no A-list help, Ill Bliss and his team of producers (Tha Suspect, Major Bangz) put together some powerful verses set to deep ominous beats.

7. Timeless -Omawumi

For her third merry go round, Omawumi could not have taken a more divergent approach. Signed to a new management and with an eye on the international market, Omawumi has carefully downplayed her considerable hit making abilities and embraced a richer, fuller, jazzier sound – one that mixes Fela Kuti and the throbbing pull of Afrobeat with the vivacious scatting of jazz songstresses gone by. If the album had stayed true to the energy of the first half, Timeless might have topped this list.

6. Blessed Forever -A-Q

Thinker. Troublemaker. Veteran. Genius. All these parts of A-Q show up and battle for prominence on Blessed Forever, his fourth studio record and follow up to the brilliant Rose album. Nothing much has changed since he last put an album out. A-Q on Blessed Forever is just as crazy, just as brilliant, and this time, quite emotional. Divided into five acts, the record is inventive with hot takes like Lekki Expressway showing his inventive, subversive side.

5. Niniola -This is Me

Home to Maradona and Sicker, two of the biggest Afro-house anthems of the year, Niniola’s debut has more goodies embedded within. Jam-packed with slick, sexy, power dance tunes delivered with relish, in both English and Yoruba. First albums aren’t usually this assured but having spent a couple of years, developing her craft, This Is Me is Niniola burrowing in, carving her own niche, and then bursting out the gate confident in her abilities.

4. Agberos International -Bantu

For regulars at Afropolitan Vibes, the premier live music gig in Lagos put together by Ade Bantu and his 13-man band, Agberos International is simply a continuation of the quarterly visits to the Muri Okunola Park. Familiar yet refreshingly so, the music on Agberos International is an amalgam of Afrobeat, jazz, rap and performance poetry. Standout track, Niger Delta Blues, featuring legendary Fela Kuti collaborator, Tony Allen, is by itself worth the price of admission.

3. For You -Cobhams

For his first album as a solo artiste, Cobhams Asuquo abandons the trappings of fame and lure of the bright lights and makes a complete gospel album that astounds in its craftsmanship and overflows with richness. Technically the project is faultless. The finish is of international quality and Asuquo’s big booming voice is placed at the center of the affecting ballads that make up the album. The entire experience is a thoroughly pleasurable and enveloping, yet intimate encounter with the Most High.

2. Simisola -Simi

2017 was the year X3M Music’s years long investment in Simi, the awkward but terrific singer, songwriter and sound engineer finally paid off, reaping well deserved rewards from Lagos to London. Responsible for this was the arrival of her debut album with X3M, the gloriously imagined, conceptualized and delivered Simisola. Simisola is easily the most enjoyable disc put forward this year, boasting delightful songwriting, beautiful melodies and sublime singing.

1. Musa Jikan Musa -Morell

The city of Jos has contributed its fair share to the music business (2face, the Abaga brothers) but because of the humanitarian crises in that part of the country, somehow the North seems to have been written out of pop culture. Morell is here to address that. He takes on this responsibility without being self-aware and delivers a debut disc that is proudly reflective of his origins, yet bears a finish that is ready to cross over. Musa Jikan Musa’s unique blend of traditional instrumentation, impressive songwriting and delicious rhymes is almost second to none.

10. The Wedding Party 2: Destination Dubai

The sequel to Nollywood’s biggest film delivers exactly what it promises, no more no less. It isn’t better than it has a right to be, and no worse than it could have been. The entire gang returns for another romp of escapism and jolly good fun. Niyi Akinmolayan grabs the helm and delivers a sequel that knows exactly what its audience wants.

9. Potato Potahto

Potato Potahto certainly remains pretty to look at, even when the screenplay begins to sag with repetition. The sets are colourful and costumes were designed to both grab attention and flatter the actors, particularly Jocelyn Dumas, who is a designer’s dream to dress; and Lala Akindoju, who flaunts legs that stretch from Accra to Ankara.

8. Couple’s Award

It isn’t a complete picture that Couple’s Award, as written and directed by Kehinde Olorunyomi Odukoya presents, plus, there is that troublesome itch to reach for a crowd-pleasing ending. Looking beyond this though, Couple’s Award is a finely acted, well presented effort that is marked by a rich story and a somewhat faithful execution. Shame it wasn’t widely seen.

7. King Invincible

Ultimately, King Invincible is a director’s film and Femi Adisa’s hard work and vision is what is most striking about the entire picture. His passion is visible in every shot, and in every fight scene. He falters on occasion, with what he gets in (clustered sets, unimpressive supporting actors) and with what he leaves out (a pivotal battle scene that could have told more of the hero’s character) but anyone can see that bigger things are sure to come from him.

6. Slow Country

Slow Country moves with a deliberate pace until it gets to the bloody shootout that is really where director Eric Aghimien’s heart lies. He unspools a final act that is impressive in its stunt work and easy command of visual effects. It would be unjust to dismiss Slow Country as a minor work from a promising auteur. Pretty obvious Aghimien has plenty more things to teach Nollywood. Someone just needs to give him a budget worth his talent.

5. Banana Island Ghost (BIG)

The real star of BIG is the picture. Sasore manages something special here with drone shots and visual effects that tell a story all their own. His cinematography is pretty basic but the pictures are lit up to near perfection, only interrupted by the over enthusiastic product placements. Watch out for Akah Nnani who steals his scenes and makes quite the impression as a hopeless police sergeant.

4. CaTCH.eR

A basic police procedural – to the extent that it can be called one – masquerading as a clever whodunit, CaTCH.eR turns out to be more tame domestic drama, albeit with some blood and gore, than edge-of-your-seat thriller. The attraction for the young actors, must have been the chance to work with Taylaur, a filmmaker who with a soft focus on style and action, is setting himself up as one of Nollywood’s thinking men.

3. Hakkunde

In many respects, Hakkunde is the story of contemporary Nigeria, a witty, emotional exploration of what it means to be young and Nigerian. Set in Lagos and Kaduna, Hakkunde places one young graduate’s quest for dignity at the center of a larger, more encompassing story of resourcefulness, doggedness and the importance of community.

2. Isoken

Isoken builds up to a satisfying, if cluttered ending as the usual romantic comedy tropes are ticked off. Director Jade Osiberu’s imprints are all over the film as she unspools the sights and sounds of contemporary upperclass Lagos living. Her camera work is deft and even when she needn’t bother; she comes up with interesting ways of presenting her picture.

1. Ojukokoro

With its voice over narration, noir-ish mood, ensemble cast and time bending snap structure, Dare Olaitan has obviously studied the iconic films of auteurs like Quentin Tarantino (Reservoir Dogs) and Guy Ritchie (Snatch). He pays homage to them in ways that may seem obvious but makes it clear that his vision is no lazy copy, as he situates his madcap story very much in present day Nigeria.
