I can see the apprehension about the Nemanja Matic deal. Lol.

to be honest, I'm not really sold on the Matic deal, whether true or mere rumour,but have you considered some things? If Mourinho really want Matic, him alone knows why and what he sees in him. so many of us seem to be blindsided by Matic's awful performance last season, judging from the reaction of Chelsea fans, that we neglect to take some things into context.

3 seasons ago in Jose's 2nd stint at the Bridge, Matic was a beast, a rock in the midfield and covering for the defence. the next season, the whole Chelsea team underperformed which led to Jose's sacking. don't single out Matic for the blame alone.

last season, Matic's job was effectively being done by Kante, so it was like he's useless and needless, a waste of space, but he still gave his best. maybe his 'best' wasn't enough to impress some of us.

if Jose Mourinho really want Matic and the rumours are true, it shouldn't surprise anyone considering that is a defensive coach, who knows how to drill defence into tough, impenetrable unit and he knows the defence needs midfield protection and also added steel in the middle. Matic may not seem a like for like long-term replacement for Carrick, but consider a midfield 3 of Herrera, Matic and Pogba and tell me what you think. Matic might just recover his form he display 3 seasons ago and be the steel in front of the defence, while freeing up Pogba and Herrera to carry out playmaking responsibility father upfield, knowing that the back is secured safe in Matic's hands.

I'm still not sold on the Matic deal if it's proven true, but let's look at each player in the eyes of the coach. he's the one who knows what he wants.

Sir, please you guys better fix this issue because I'm beginning to lose my mind. I noticed MTN keep deducting my airtime for no clear reason. everytime I recharge my line, I barely use the airtime only to notice that some amount has been deducted without any cogent reason. please fix this issue and my money refunded, because I can't imagine my money going down the drain just like that every time I recharge.

I agree with Afrodoc2. no offence to Rojo, but it won't be bad having a strong bench that can come up and do a good job when called upon. if all three Cbs are on form and only two can be accommodated at a time, there's no problem having one of them on the bench who can come on and do the job. or better still, they all share minutes(rotation). but we all know JM doesn't work that way.

If posterity will judge then you should not criticize any fee, there should be no levels to it. Who decides what the levels are?
That a club has money does not mean you start wasting your funds buying players you do not need for fees that make no sense. It is about buying the right players that will help you build a team NOT just buying the most expensive players out there.
If the player is expensive but fits the needs of he team no one will complain. But just breaking transfer fees willy nilly without a clear cut plan won't take us anywhere.

Gbam! as simple as that. the price shouldn't be a problem to us as far as the money is there. what is important is, is the player the solution we need? is he what we really want? or would he just be another addition to the ever expanding number of average players on our wage bill without solving the problems we have in the squad.
