As long as you dont set it on fire (the fumes are very toxic), you are good to go with PVC.
Asbestos is what l know to be dangerous.
I thought same. Thanks.

1.5mm- 92 vs 60 2.5mm- 60 vs 48 4mm- 36 vs 13
That's about half a million diff , and it's a worst case scenario. Everything ultimately depends on your piping network and the size of your rooms . You could even "manage" 4mm for the cooker Thanks for your help. It was very detailed. I appreciate. However, the 1.5mm is 72 and not 92. As little as one might think it is, it is actually a very huge saving in cash. Do you know how many blocks I can buy with that amount? But I thought we were always advised to use Nigeria wire as they are the best and can accommodate our unique electricity fluctuations. |

diordaves: Electrical works could be very tricky. It is not just all about the length or rolls of the cables. The pipping work plays a significant roll as well and the design, position and quantity of points or outlets: How many plugs per room, living room and dinning, fan points, security lights or not, side lamps at every wall etc will add up to the quantity of cable used.
Below is my outlay for a six flats. Mind you, my project is mix-mode: 2 units of three bedroom flats, 2 units of two bedroom flats and 2 units of one bedroom flat. Two toilets each in both the 3 and 2 bedroom flats and one toilet each for the one bedroom. Mind you, if you have all ensuit, you will consume more cable.
My outlay includes Generator point for all flats, A/C point for all rooms and living room and two points for water pumping machine:
QT................................Cutix Cable..................................................................Unit Amount.................................Sub Total
25 Rolls of 1.5mm-15 Red, 10 Black N5,500= N138,750
38 Rolls of 2.5mm - 14 Red, 14 Black, 10 Yellow N9,350= N355,300
1 Roll of 6mm N21,800= N21,800
2 Rolls of 10mm - 1 Red, 1 Black N36,000= N72,000
3 Rolls of TV Cable N3,500= N10,500
Workmanship 250,000
GRAND TOTAL N848,350
Can you do sometime about your labour cost? 600k? But be mindful of over bargain to rock bottom price as you may encourage the eletrician to cut corners to make up. There is a fine line between fair price and slave price. I hope this helps.
The pix below are not Cutix products but Wickes UK. You are the bomb! Thanks.. |

allCopacetic:

1. Go a size down for the earthing ( i.e. earth 2.5 with 1.5, earth 4mm with 2.5mm and so on)
2. Estimate the total lighting and power cables for a flat and multiply by 6
3. Optimally locate your meter points ( d/board is obviously already fixed in location ) to minimize the distance between your meter and D/board , it'll help save on load cables
To estimate the lighting and power cables: -How many sockets .....per b/ room and living room? -How many wall lighting points as per above -Do you intend to have pop ceilings and hence pop lighting?
If the rooms are large, and you intend to have pop lighting, the below is an "approximate" quantity , i don't see it requiring more than the below though.
The load cable is listed already.... That's the 10mm
25mm, is that copper or aluminum for servicing?
***Edit, 2.5mm should be 48 not 32 sorry What u gave is close to what he gave. . Na wa o o....that estimate is going close to 3 mil. |

allCopacetic: Lol madam, and you know this how? @ bolded
You cannot safely arrive at such a conclusion unless you know:
-if the connection to the D/board is single or three phase, -The number of boards to be fed -The distance (along the counduit path) between each board and meter/power house - the generator set up and location. the 10mm is most likely going to be run for the gen aswell.
The question about the TV cable would be...."coils of how many meters each ?" .. 10 is obviously not practical anyways. Supported. |

allCopacetic: You might want to find out what brand and length you were sold first. coaxial cables are manufactured by many companies to different specifications. the cores are in different diameters, some can have core conductors with cross-sectional areas (standard cable sizing) as large as 1.5mm2, though most typically range between 0.75mm2-1.0mm2 the insulator and flex mesh inside also differ in size and material. For instance coleman is about 14k, but is just 100m. A 300m variant of that same standard will cost over 35k Oh ! Unless dat. I will try to check when chanced. If I find out I was ripped off that bad. I will simply buy the next cable and tell him to fix it but to pay for workmanship on completion. And once job is tested and done. It is to tell him to use my remaining cable money to balance up ( Bihari PDF style ) @ hajj Some national stations are on DSTV but I can't say about other cable networks. |

ProTouchDesigns: I actually will say it's less expensive to an extent if it's the regular wall paper. But it's not like the margin will be that much. To use a regular wall paper will also require you have the wall plastered so as to bring out a very smooth feel and it's beauty. So you are only comparing paint and wall paper. Nice job! The first 2 pictures are not wall papers, are they? What is the cost per square meter of the regular wall paper? |

My guy, if I were to be you, I would see my staying in Oke -Aro as my hustle in the short term. In other words, I would complete the house and move to Oke-aro. Atleast, I am in my house. Then I would save very hard towards gathering money to rent an apartment closer to my work place. This way, I am neither under pressure to pay rent and I know I always have a roof over my head should it be that my office says they no longer need my services. Be prudent and be wise by bracing up for the worst (this does not make you a pessimist) especially in these times of economic uncertainties. |
