Christianity Etc › Re: Why Many Youths Are No Longer Going To Church by DarkHenrie(m): 2:58pm On Jun 11, 2017*. Modified: 4:30pm On Jun 12, 2017 |
Actually, many people are not religious during their youth after being forced religion throughout their childhood and teenage years. Most older people, parents you see who are religious today were very irreligious when they were younger. So it's not a really new trend that youths are uninterested in religious activities. Some of us have that friend who while in the university was the least religious person but preaches to us now that they're married and all. I think there are social and psychological factors that can explain why people generally get more religious and conservative as they grow older.
That said, I think the times are changing and society and the world generally is witnessing a decline in overall religiosity which is making the fanatics more mad hence these terrorists springing up everywhere. Thanks to the age of science, information and evidence, it is becoming more difficult to deceive people with fantastical claims of supernaturality. |

The man can only move to another Third World country where people need the clutch of religion to thrive. Definitely not isreal! He won't get customers if he goes to any developed country where things are working. He knows this. He will be here because Nigeria needs him as much as he needs Nigeria. It's an inevitable symbiotic relationship. |

Politics › Re: Shehu Sani - Those Agitating For Biafra Have Never Seen War by DarkHenrie(m): 8:17am On Jun 07, 2017 |
That peaceful secession only exists in very few places is not some ordained phenomenon that cannot be altered. Nothing stops us from working towards achieving those peaceful scenarios in other places. Humans with their heads made it peaceful even if it's just one place. The same Nnamdi Kanu talked about the government allowing for a referendum recently while he addressed his fellow Igbrew Biafran travelers. The Scots haven't got independence, the Quebecs haven't either, but theyve gotten the chance to cast their votes numerous times. Let the Biafrans have theirs, nothing says the result must be secession. When people starting hearing the debates and arguments for and against leaving, you have no idea what can happen. Sending down troops even when they sit at home however shows you simply have no superior argument except the force you're privileged to have. And no, anyone who thinks the Biafra of tomorrow will include the south south is simply deluded. And I don't think Nnamdi Kanu will not take his Biafra if the south south refuses to be a part of it. obailala: As unfortunate and as infuriating as it may sound, there's wisdom in the words of those who warn agitators about the dangers of a potential secession war. Splitting a country isn't child's play anywhere in the world, don't be deceived. In the actual sense, the kind of systemic structures needed to achieve peaceful splitting of a country only exists in very-very-very-very few places globally, it certainly doesn't exist anywhere near Africa.
Even the Scottish referendum which is typically cited as an example of civility, that same Scotland has fought several wars for this same purpose but are still yet to achieve full independence (by the way, Scotland is already a country with its own laws, parliament etc, but they're currently only agitating for 'independence'). Even Nnamdi Kanu himself was quoted as saying he doesn't believe in the 'rubbish' called 'peaceful secession' because according to his history books, 'peaceful secession' has never been recorded anywhere before now. Sadly, he made a somewhat valid point which we should have in mind whenever we talk of a secession.
Nigeria today from the north to the west to the east and to the south is totally parasitic on Niger-Delta oil; do you really think Nigeria is civilised enough to fold its arms and watch as one group breaks away, taking away with it, a large chunk of the nation's 'feeding bottle'?... People who warn about a potential war aren't completely stupid as you think, trust me. |
