AutosRe: Help! My Car Vibrates When I Hit 100km/ph by darqly(op): 7:41pm On Aug 19, 2008
@ All thanks for de bits and pieces!

I just backed out of a friends driveway(On Sunday) to embark on a 285km trip to my base and voila, my left front ball joint collapsed and the axle gave way, leaving the tyre askew! It was horrible, just the thot of what if I had been driving at even 60km/hr, made me realize how blessed I was to get away with just a dent/tear to the lower panel of the car and me intact!

I still needed to make de trip, so I called up my mechanic who screwed the whole thingy up again, and I travelled albeit cautiously.
Steering still veers to the left and I really hate using different mechanics, so I may just wait till I travel or plain have the mechanic travel down and fix up de car.
Thanks a bunch guys!! wink

@Ivvie, I bought the car used, but can't get a history report first, my bad! U hit the nail on de head though. Nice one
AutosHelp! My Car Vibrates When I Hit 100km/ph by darqly(op): 7:31pm On Aug 17, 2008
The steering wheel just shivers in my grips whenever I hit 100km/ph. Do i have anything to worry about?? And de steering veers left when I hit the brakes as well!
AutosRe: @ Siena Et Al: I Want To Turbocharge My Honda Bullet by darqly(op): 8:00pm On Jul 24, 2008
Sure,If its strong enough to handle being turbocharged. Though I'd really love to do it on a 97'Audi A4.
AutosRe: @ Siena Et Al: I Want To Turbocharge My Honda Bullet by darqly(op): 6:40pm On Jul 22, 2008
well, about the only thing stopping me now is de cost. Call it an idiosyncrasy or passion or just a plain ol must-have, soon as I can afford it, I'll try it out.

@ ALL, thanks for the info and tit-bits.
@ Siena, I'll be in touch wink
AutosRe: @ Siena Et Al: I Want To Turbocharge My Honda Bullet by darqly(op): 7:31pm On Jul 21, 2008
Hi Siena,
Thanks for your reply, knew u'd reply!! wink Well, lets say for the small turbocharger, can u just translate what it means in terms of cost? U can reckon in pounds, I'll reckon in Naira, so that I get the picture.

Thanks again mate!

Autos@ Siena Et Al: I Want To Turbocharge My Honda Bullet by darqly(op): 7:05pm On Jul 20, 2008
Hi,

I'm a real fan of performance cars and I love cars that growl and have lots of power under the hood.
I drive a Honda 94, what we call a Bullet or Noblese and I'd really want it to pack a helluva  punch, Engine-wise!
What does turbocharging entail? Asides giving extra power(and guzzling more fuel), Will it give my engine the mean growl I want? Or is that the job of a muffler? Please pardon my naivety, but I watched Mad Max1 some 20yrs ago and I still can't get the image of his "Interceptor" out of my head till date. Thanks mate,
Car TalkRe: How To Raise A Car Loan? by darqly(m): 6:18pm On Jul 04, 2008
People, he has not asked for any daft advice on where to put his money or whether he shouldn't borrow angry Why all this sanctimonious crap? Its his money, his funeral (pardon my choice of words, ).

@demsy,what you need is not a car loan, since your budget is around 600k. Go for a personal loan instead, you won't have to pay any equity upfront or insurance and crap like that. Depending on which bank you bank with, a PLAS(Personal loan against salary)shouldn't take more than one week to setup and you can draw on the funds. I assume you have a steady income, whether paid employment or business. Just walk into the retail department of your bank and tell them you want a personal loan of 600k.Decide the tenor(12mths, 6mths, 3mths, as it suits you best) Fini, !!
Good luck wink

PoliticsRe: Nigeria Without It's Vast Oil Reserves by darqly(m): 7:08pm On Jun 26, 2008
No, we won't be doomed without oil, we'd just be less profligate and more ingenious. AND,de clowns in the Niger delta who have turned to terrorists can just as well guzzle any crude they stumble across.
Nigeria does not necessarily have to even run out of oil, all that has to happen is for the world to evolve a cheaper, cleaner alternative to oil.

Nigerians will think better, act better, reason better, behave better, and above all be guided by the fact that they must work harder to make money and not just sit down somewhere expecting oil money. Remember the Malaysian story. I think they are doing better than us now.
@ Pastorking, well said. Malaysia has grown to where it is by planting and exporting what type of crop? CHIEFLY Palm oil!

So the myopic ones insisting that we can't make it through agriculture really have to reasses their line of thought.
AutosRe: Manual Transmission Cars; Extinct? by darqly(m): 10:02am On Jun 19, 2008
I just purchased a manual transmission vehicle, taking delivery tomorrow! Most of my friends and even de car dealer couldn't understand why. I just love the burst i get when I downshift, and I love being in direct control of de power my engine gives.
AutosRe: Toyota Land Cruiser For Sell by darqly(m): 5:32pm On Jun 16, 2008
And all because someone wanted to sell a car!!!
So what if he doesn't want to dash de car?
I mean is it mandatory that everyone be 'mindlessly' generous?
I believe if you've worked hard for every kobo, you'd pay better attention to what you did with your property and be more accountable.
Even us Nigerians that milk govt treasury dry and claim we have arrived are damn measly, talk-less of someone who came to seek greener pastures here.
We're still an ignorant lot.

AutosBmw 3 Series 1997 Vs Honda Bullet by darqly(op): 11:54am On Jun 02, 2008
Car Buffs, I have 5 days to make a choice between both these cars and frankly, I'm undecided as to which to go for. I have driven a Bullet before and it handles quite well, but I think the engine tends to strain abit, especially when u use de AC and try to accelerate for speed!
Have never driven a bimma, so don't know de pros and cons.
PLEASE contribute, Thanks. smiley
Jobs/VacanciesRe: What Does It Take 2 B Successful In A Bank Training? by darqly(m): 5:13pm On May 29, 2008
Was shocked when I heard they dropped some people in de last batch, but its true. And, not to sound sadistic, twas a good move. Some staff i've encountered are a bumbling sack of errors just waiting to be unleashed. Pre-recruitment errors, we call them.
Read hard, it's just the last step. If you can't learn de basics, how can you hope to become a professional in your field??

All de best.
AutosRe: 1997 Bmw 3-series For Sale by darqly(m): 4:01pm On May 25, 2008
Viper, think HARD and you'd remember that I've called you twice already. You promised to supply the VIN, but no show, though you said the rides' from Europe so that's irrelevant. My offer still stands JUST because I've not found another car that suits me. I want a power ride, though I don't drive all the time, I want to be able to dash from place to place and be sure!! That's why am into this car, but you're 'gumming' yourself to de thing like say, Get me a full side view of the car, and I'll make you my final offer. I'm miles away from Lagos but I can come with my driver to take it home this week, as my annual leave begins.

It's up to you man!! Cheers grin

BusinessRe: "You Can't Ban Spraying, It's Our Culture" - KSA To Soludo by darqly(m): 1:20pm On Feb 19, 2008
The general consensus is that people who lack money are the most likely to show off at any given occasion. The other group are those that are just plain uneducated. What does spraying money add to you? or take away from you for that matter? I'm all for it. Soludo's duties are not exclusive to inflationary-countermeasures as some are wont to believe. If we must do it, then we must do it right!

How can spraying be our culture? We always use that term to justify our lawlessness and brazen disregard for law and order.
AutosRe: Ask Sienna? (nairaland's Resident Automobile Specialist) by darqly(m): 7:27pm On Jan 29, 2008
Hi Siena, I'm still waiting on you. And then add a BMW 3 Series 1995 - 1997 model to my list. That is Mercedes 190, Honda Bullet(dunno de year, should be 1994-96) and the Bimma. Would appreciate some sound advice. Thanks!!

@ Big nero, which of my posts? Perhaps you could refresh my memory, and I'll see if I'm interested!!
AutosRe: Ask Sienna? (nairaland's Resident Automobile Specialist) by darqly(m): 8:32am On Jan 22, 2008
Hi Sienna, I'm due for a ride in about a month or so and I'm not really sure what to buy. I fancy german, but in our part of Nigeria, Hondas are the mainstay, i.e Spare parts are awash and mechanics are at your beck and call. I'm aware that the rover comes with a honda engine, but I feel the body isn't durable(exterior anyway, ) and won't work for me, because I like my car looking spic and span ALWAYS.

I'm down to the good ol Benz 190e (Saw a pimped one, really looked good, ) and a Honda Bullet (sleek ride, my friend drives one, )
I love manual transmission, have no qualms shifting gears.
What do you advice? better still what do you recommend? My budget is around N900,000

Thanks alot and keep up the good work smiley

Hello House, just about to purchase the xbox 360. De only snag is the GAMES, !! I'm really big on war games and the like, but don't know where to buy them aside from ordering online and that's really a bother. Anyone in Lagos that can source games for me? I'll pay for shipping to where I'm at.
P.S- No pirated copies please, I'll pay for the quality, if you have what I want!!
