3g in Nigeria is just a waste of time and money. Even gprs hasn't really caught on and NCC is selling 3g for around $150m each, daylight robbery if you ask me. The operators in europe and the americas haven't broken even yet from the expensive 3g they also acquired way back then. How many of us really want to watch TV on our phones and pay through the nose, because we will pay believe me!! ![]() |
Hello gamers, I'm looking for Medal of Honour: Heroes on PSP? Can anyone help? I want to buy it outright. |
@ Mikkyluv, The spelling error I made has already been pointed out by the first person to respond to this topic. I could've modified it, but it's a MISTAKE, so what the heck? I decided to let it be. Shows that mistakes do happen, but you still understood what the message was trying to convey. From your tone, you sound like one who has a large book of "reasons why you must fail," bound and ready for publishing!! Please stop encouraging mediocrity with a myriad of excuses. English is not our native tongue? you should've responded in YOUR native tongue then. The people who don't mind their language or tenses, gradually UN-educate themselves, slowly, but they do get there eventually. @ essojay, Help me tell them, Use your pidgin at the right time if you must, otherwise, just stay off it, it adds no value far as I'm concerned in the long run. |
Hey Tolu, you're definately the TOLU I lost contact with! I'm Babby High set of 97, remember Peterson??Agboola House?? I actually caught your name in the cast after an episode of e360, and I was so sure it was you. Lets take this private. I'll send you an email. Nice one!! |
@ diyobdw, I reiterate, at least on the job board, keep the english simple and concise. You can't even understand some of the ads some people put up here because of the poor literature. And the rejoinders are even worse, this thing becomes a habit eventually, I should know. There is nothing like your "application english and spelling" being different from your "Nairaland english and spelling". If the admin was in such a rush all the time, I guess we'd have all moved on to better forums instead of one where you spend ages trying to decode what anyone has to say. @eseaba, I actually prefer Websters dictionary, just in case you were curious. Well, wafarians can "pidgin on", but until I see the text on their payslips written in pidgin, I'm sure they'll keep applying and writing in the queens english. |
Dan,an Unemployed graduate does not translate to an uneducated graduate. If you must be chosen ahead of others then you must be ahead of the others. If you had to apply online for a vacancy and because of time constraint, as you put it, you sacrifice accuracy for speed, your application is headed for the trash can. Where you abbreviate or use slangs instead of spelling it out as it is, you lose points and credibility;nobody wants to hire a liability!!! |
Hello Tolu, totally unrelated to your post, but I'm curious, Did you finish from Baptist High?? I've been searching for one Tolu Ojo that went to Babby High. |
Well, she wanted a commitment after 3 months and I was like wait for abit, lets give it one year and see. Then she comes over to my family house and well, my mum disapproved. Then I was put in the middle, "If you luv me, you'll or you won't, " kind of situation. I really can't handle those sort of choices or lets say I refused to be drawn into it. I know I love this girl, she's my friend too, and she's so nice to be around. Now she doesn't want to even speak to me anymore, can't blame her too much though. |
@stephberts I agree with you that we can't be 100% all of the time, but when you see a typographical error you know what the intention was, and you generally tend to move on reading. Just like ogs, the other poster, he made a few typos as well and made out to correct them. We can't rule out typos really, I scan top news websites from time to time and I still see some errors that escape the editors and proof-readers, what with all the spell checks and what have you!! All in all, english is still a foreign language to us all, so we keep learning it everyday. @ogs, Thank you! @stellose, there you go again, |
There may be the remote possibility that your state quota had been exhausted by other "potentially" more qualified applicants than you. I know FBN uses a quota system in recruitment, to make it balanced and fair. Keep your head up man! |
Hello Nairalanders, Longtime no post, well am back!! Now lets see. I noticed alot of people on this job board really have trouble communicating i.e grammer, tenses, SPELLING!!! Especially spelling. It just kills me when I see someone spell test as "text" or aptitude as "apitute" or something equally bizarre. The thing is you must be marketable for anyone to even glance your way these days,if you can't get through just on a simple forum, you'll never be confident enough to play in the big leagues. If i was a an employer of labour and I browsed through some of the posts on this forum, I'd blacklist some folk right away!! We say we're graduates, then let it show in all that you exhibit; We're supposed to be cultured, people. I remember a while on this same nairaland, someone raised an issue on the use of pidgin english in our posts, and he was slammed instantly from all quarters. I've never been a fan of "broken english" and some say it sounds awful on my tongue, which is just as well, because I didn't go to school to come out sounding like "an average joe blogg". I mean, how many of us can ask our bosses at the office "How far Naw?" or "wetin dey?" Let me draw an analogy for you in closing, I heard a true saying once- "Dress for the job you want, not the job you've got" Simply put, if you like plain tee-shirts and jeans while you work with an ISP company or cafe,on your way for a bank job interview, please wear a shirt and tie. Likewise, talk like the job you want, not the one you've got!! ![]() |
It's true that some of the guys that turned up for the audition couldn't sing a note, even if their very lives depended upon it. They made the show quite lively really. But the thing is Dede is damn rude, no the word is abusive. He's allowed to be rude but I don't think he has the right to call anyone names or make caricatures of them, ![]() |
I don't know about you lot but my babe sent the text and lost N100 credit and still the text FAILED! Anybody else try it? |
Shola, I'm not comfortable with "past" goods, I need to see what you have right now! The stones in the pictures are fantastic, good rich colors, can u get me this exact quality? What is the average size? I'm interested in anything from 1gm, better yet 1.5gm and upwards. I pay N1300/gm for top quality facetable tourmaline from Ibadan, if the stone is right I will go higher. What do you have right now and how much? Lets wrap this up by mid week next week, yes i buy beryls, do you have pink or blues? |
In the worst case scenario, I'll just get a bunch of clowns taking me on a wild goose chase that they have what I'm looking for, aside that, I may just get the stones if I'm lucky enough. Shola, haven't heard from you, How far? I just asked for pics oh, Layi, how far?? ![]() |
Shola, go ahead and post the pics right here, its ok!! If the stones are ok, I'll give you my number and we'll talk. I'm right here in Nigeria, I work here!! Thanks. IF you have pics of the new green material thats coming out of Ibadan, that'll be interesting as well. |
Thanks people! I'm goin 2 do this thing on this forum and let all see the transaction,if there is any,I want 2 place Layi where he belongs. @emiko I have enuf greens in my parcel already so I'd prefer any other color unless its blue-green! @shola, 20gm? That will be somethin if it's clean. Pls post pics here soon as u can! |

em Liar, so what's ur big beef mate? Who's we on Nairaland? What blasted brother's keeper when you think you're holier than every other member? Talking about "modus operandi", am sure you spend endless hours in those choked up festac cafes. I assume the aim of NL is to foster unity and build diverse relationships. I asked on the forum cos I thot I'd get a better and more reliable deal than I'm used to. But with "awon watchdog" like you that can't ever be positive, I guess I was wrong. Once again, its TOURMALINE not FORMA-F***king-LINE. SPELL!! |
Layi, whats a bleeding "farud"? You're so quick to jump to conclusions you don't even spell right abi?? Do you have tourmalines? If no, read another post mate. I have been buying gems for the past 5 years, my referrals are international, not local even!! Once again, I'm interested in these stones people. |
Hello people, I want to buy tourmaline from Ibadan. Pinks, blue-greens, good quality. Here's a chance to be your own boss, just locate these gems and we're in biz. Interested? Reply this post. |
Can't ever pass up the chance to lampoon gooners, Gosh, memories of last season just come flooding in, Kolo Toure wearing Lehmans jersey and making that vital save (contender for save of the season by the way, ) ![]() Just use simple statistics, Man Utd should win this one. It's old trafford and its Arsenal, Man U's training material. I make bold to say that if ever there is a time when Arsenal needs just 3 pts to avoid relegation and their last game is against Man Utd, then they're as good as playing in the Coca-cola championship ![]() Man U rulez, Gunners drool |
ehem, its been a longtime coming but I knew I had issues with this ad. Jerry is a cheapskate, imagine, how long was the call he made? tops 59 secs. If he's on per minute billing, that cost him like N47. Worse still, if it was happy hour then( ), probably alot less, Smooth operator then. |
The shawshank Redemption- "Sorry, they broke the door down before I could start taking requests, " Excellent Movie, if I might add!! |
Adamawa,Zenith will pay you more, infact they will give your pension and stuff in your salary,so that when you retire you don't get shizzle!! The main catch here is that there is no job security ie if you can't deliver, you won't last long there. Don't get carried away by all the "zenith is the biggest brouhaha, " Biggest in what terms? Branch network, that's all. If that's the main criteria, when Eco merges with FBN, Eco will be largest! Go with Eco, with a merger, there will be newer challenges, oppurtunities and space for growth. U'd get peace of mind and build a solid banking career,if you care to!! |
UBA aptitude test comes up on Saturday. I don't know if it's nationwide but the details I have are for Abuja zone. Venue- Tudun Wada Secondary School Zone 4 Time- 8am Focus: Post-Consolidation, Maths and English N.B- Take CV and credentials along!! Good luck people. |
Hello, Rosez. Could you please give me any tips on how posting is carried out in firstbank? I mean after the training, what criteria is used to determine which branches we will be transferred to. Also, do we have a say in it at all? Thank you! |
England 3 -Ecuador 0 Three lions for life!!! ![]() |
Hello People, I just received an SMS from Firstbank offering me "Employment". Hope all other prospective "Firstbankers" get theirs, or just head on to their website and find out for yourselves. Luv to all Nairalanders, and em, tonisafe22, will you marry me?? Am employed now!! ![]() |
A friend of mine called their office in Abuja. We were told they're working on it as fast as they can and that we would receive SMS's today or tomorrow telling us to check the update on their website. Let's keep em crossed abi?? ![]() |
It seems some people are getting "irritated" at the insinuation that they aren't as smart as their qualifications claim, or that they are actually smarter than what that piece of A4 minting paper says. You can only be so smart or lucky to cover your incompetence in any field for so long. And as well, you can't keep a genius under wraps,it'll just keep seeping out!! When you pass an exam or test, it's because you studied and were able to channel all you garnered to your benefit when the need arose. Some people read alot but they still can't pass or at best, they get mediocre grades. I believe they're doing something the wrong way, and if they get help on time, they will improve and be where they really should be academically. All this brouhaha; there are "graduates" that can't write their own application letters, can't spell- it doesn't matter what class they finished with, the bottom line is they are not quite the finished product. If you try hard enough, you will be where you want to be, not where you ought to be.Success is a choice, so is the level that is attainable. Some folks just want to earn enough to buy a "pint" at the end of the day; they work till they attain that level and then just keep coasting there. And that's why no mattter what class you finish with, you owe it yourself to admit that you worked for it and have to make the most of it. If you're so smug with your 1st class or 2.1, then by all means live off your inventions. If you're so full of self pity with your 2.2, 3rd class or pass, then by all means wallow in it!! If you're an elite graduate who can't prove your worth, someone else will take the oppurtunity, simple as that. |

Now lets see. I noticed alot of people on this job board really have trouble communicating i.e grammer, tenses, SPELLING!!! Especially spelling. It just kills me when I see someone spell test as "text" or aptitude as "apitute" or something equally bizarre.
