RomanceRe: Are Nigerian Men Romantic? by darqly(m): 6:50pm On Jun 15, 2007
richie-x, I feel you oh! It's the girls around us really, so it works both ways. If you are in a sophisticated environment, believe me you will up your game and be alot more refined in handing your girl. On the other hand, if the babes are all drooling cos you splashed a little change around and give it up to you for next to no hard work on your part, what do you do? I've been with girls that DO not appreciate anniversaries, mementoes(No matter how minute), spending time with them really doing nothing, etc. All they want is to be picked up, taken to so and so place, attend so and so show/party and get a roll in the hay on the way back.

I do appreciate women that acknowledge the little things, they are few and far between. cry
RomanceRe: You Fit Hold Body? (guys) by darqly(m): 7:09am On Jun 15, 2007
Brother just because we're men, doesn't mean we shouldn't have scruples! I mean would you go ahead and force the girl into having sex just because u no fit hold body, even if it's against her will? Last time I checked, they called it RAPE.

You gotta hold body, that's the difference between you as an intelligent species and them primates. I rest my case.
RomanceI'm Head Over Heels: by darqly(op): 7:43pm On Jun 14, 2007
In love with this lady I met at church. There was no other way to introduce myself and I've been waiting for the oppurtunity since DECEMBER. Last sunday, I walked straight up to her and told her that I wanted to get to know her better, to be friends, I got her number that day!! wasn't easy tho. Now we've gone out once, lunch and she has been playing the cat-and-mouse game WELL since that day. Thing is I want her for keeps, but I don't want to play that "I want to marry you" wild card that drives some babes into a frenzy. I want her to enter it with her full faculties, and I want her to ENTER it i.e Agree to see me on a permanent basis! Any tips People? I'll welcome all, er, most, sorry reasonable replies. grin

OK oh, Bikini, God dey! Whenever you want to "de-calssify" your location, just let me know. But don't fear, I can't stalk you, not unless you're anywhere near the North Central?? I'd give you my official email but the last time I did that publicly, my inbox was flooded with SPAM and lottery offers. Take care then, tongue
CareerRe: First Bank Pay Now 2.2 Million Naira? by darqly(m): 6:48pm On Jun 08, 2007
Ahem, Bra, sorry Bikini, yes Bikini. Me Mushy? You're the one who's head over heels in,  embarassedanyway, story for another day, maybe on sametime. About your 12 months, nope, you won't be doing charity work, you just won't get some quarterly and annual allowances cos you're unconfirmed. You get those after confirmation. 500k on confirmation? Thats sweet of them, we missed out narrowly on that one I suppose, oh well, you win some,

You didn't answer the question, where'd they post you to?? I didn't know that info is now classified cool
CareerRe: First Bank Pay Now 2.2 Million Naira? by darqly(m): 9:05pm On Jun 04, 2007
@Brakini, I knew I'd find you sooner or later, grin
Want answers "ASAP" do you now? U forgot to say please!
1- If you're still around means if you don't leave for another job as some of my mates did,
2- 12months confirmation is exactly what it means: You'll be confirmed after a probationary period of 12 months.
3- A tidy sum here means your arrears would have accumulated and you'd get a very good lump sum upon confirmation.

So where did they post you?? A rural branch i hope tongue Maybe I'll chat with you on "Sametime" sometime (U'll understand this later).
CareerRe: First Bank Pay Now 2.2 Million Naira? by darqly(m): 5:13pm On Jun 03, 2007
@need4job, serious as in?? What does 1st Generation connote? Anyway, the pay at FBN is definitely better now.

@koldfaya, yes you're right it's around N1.7m for entry level BUT you forgot to tell them that they only get the new pay AFTER confirmation, , and not BEFORE. Confirmation is around 12 months, give or take a month grin But if you're still around by then, you get all your arrears, which makes for quite a tidy sum.

Hey people this is a bold one, and I'm in! I'd be willing to buy #100,000 worth as well. I'm currently with FBN here in Nigeria. What plans do you have laid down, logistics and so forth? What type of group are we seeking to establish? I may not be able to bring my presence "physically" as I'm in North-central Nigeria, but I'm in the industry. I'm following this thread as closely as I can, let me know how I can help.
Jobs/VacanciesRe: A Testimony Through First Bank by darqly(m): 6:53pm On May 26, 2007
@ bryton, congrats to you too!! Jos? As in the training school or your first branch?
Anyway, there will be lectures(7am-7pm), there will be weekly tests as well, before the final exam at the end of the induction programme. Some people will still be dropped but you'd have to contribute ACTIVELY to be dropped at this stage grin, so the ball is really in your court.
Before you're confirmed, there's a confirmation test as well.

Most importantly, make sure all your credentials are as you said they were i.e Qualifications, AGE,Referees et al. FBN takes time to research your background and staff have been dismissed after 3 or more years because some of their credentials didn't tally with what they declared.
Training school is boot-camp so put your back into it for the 3 weeks man. But still, there will be barbeques,a party, sports and games, talent hunt, the whole shindig!! After all, all work and no play,
Cheers Mate.
Jobs/VacanciesRe: A Testimony Through First Bank by darqly(m): 7:06pm On May 25, 2007
Good for you, welcome to the family! "Subject to receipt of satisfactory references" means Human capital will double check with your referees before confirming you as permanent staff. I assume your referees are "satisfactory"? FBN checks EVERYTHING.

Actually you should get at least 80k with the recent increment, seems you joined at the right time!!

@ frankiriri, well I daresay I'd like to see the agent make any money after making the payouts! He doesn't own the shares he's selling, how does he possibly expect to pay such amounts to various customers.
Nairaland GeneralRe: What Do You Hate About Our Moderator? by darqly(m): 7:25pm On May 09, 2007
Well I can't say I hate Seun, but I hate how he modifies some of my replies or topics and makes them too mellow sometimes. angry Then he sometimes turns you into a dartboard by editing your posts as well and allowing others free reign to reply you. Still he succeeds in keeping the forum tight and tidy. smiley

@Tipsy,well I didn't choose the screen name for you now did I?? Nonetheless, let me apologise for insinuating that you were not in charge of your faculties as at the time you replied. At the great risk of sounding immodest, let me answer you question. Yes, I can match anybody on this forum and anywhere else when it comes to written and verbal english. It's not something I learned, it's a gift. Believe it or not.

All of you flooding this board with anti Utd comments, how many of you lot are actually AC Milan fans?? Big deal Utd lost, a better side won in case some of y'all didn't notice. There's a host of pathetic gooners and mediocre chelsea fans just goading Utd. At least we're getting some Silverware, which is more than I can say for Arsenal and we didn't spend millions to get one goal in every two games (chelsea). Sheva and Ballack, an example of money gone down the drain!!

@Netsai, quite true though it didn't happen to me,it happened to one of my customers. The funny thing is the machine is inside the banking hall, the atmosphere got abit humid and before you could say "Pin", it sent the poor lady dancing as she touched the keypad. grin

@Bikini- Ahem, Firstly, I think your siggy is tight girl!! Bikini, wow!! Then,I can't understand the conspiracy going on on this forum. Whenever I post strongly-worded replies, Seun always "dilutes" them. But when you guys hurl your missles, they get to me with full force. Your reply is unnecessarily rude, Bikini. What did tipsydude say that you apparently agreed with? As his name goes, he was probabaly "tipsy" while he went through the topic and just picked the one reply that we've all agreed is not possible and started yakking on it over and over again.

Then on me being an "original fake". This one gave me the giggles I tell you. From the little I've read from you, selling myself to you would probably entail " Baby wetin dey shele naw, I for like hold that job ehn??"
This post and all the replies, are diverse opinions- Some agree, some must differ. Cest la vie

I'm still on cloud nine peeps, after last night. Utd produced some of the best football in UCL history last night. It's all about team with Utd,not one man, not one decisive factor!!! Em, sorry Chelski fans et al, playa hating won't score against Liverpool tonight. Maybe flukes still happen after all, ONE UTD!!

UTD Rules,
Others?? Still drooling mates. grin
Jobs/VacanciesRe: Firstbank Recruitment: How Many? by darqly(m): 6:07pm On Apr 24, 2007
@ llyods, No I don't remember signing after my interview. It may be standard procedure but maybe some centres overlooked it, thats all. It really doesn't mean that those that signed were successful and others didn't make it. Keep the faith, you'll be pleasantly surprised!!
Jobs/VacanciesRe: Firstbank Recruitment: How Many? by darqly(m): 8:19am On Apr 24, 2007
Lets see-
Firstly, they always end up recruiting more than the 550-600 that they "officially" recruit. Reason is staff turnover is alarmingly high, too many are quitting each day. You can imagine that 4 months after recruitment last year, they created a fourth batch and offered them employment, after taking the initial 550. For the intakes this was a miracle, several had forgotten that they even did they interview!!!

Secondly, they will probabaly use only 2 training schools like last year; Lagos and Kano learning centres. We have hostel facilities and they are in the very least 5 star. Kwairanga hostel in Kano has just been renovated again, so its like a resort more or less. Theoritical aspect of the training is 21 days with exams each week, 7-7 classes each day. You get the practical hands-on in your branches when you're posted. Make no mistake, if FBN can give nothing else, they will train you to be the best banker, operations wise. Forget the rantings of one cheeky fellow that claims Access has the best training school, it's balderdash. FBN's only challenge is customer-friendly service delivery, and we're seriously working on that presently.

Thirdly, pay, this is touchy, tricky. I don't know about your monthly pay going higher after confirmation. In FBN, it reduces significantly after confirmation, cos of deductions and loans you get. In training you'll be told that you earn N1.5 P.A. I can account for the .5M but up till today I can't find the 1m!! I check my payslip every now and then and do the math all over again. But we get alot of bonuses and allowances, quarterly and annually. FBN actually pays you to go on leave, and even give you cab fare!!(Which is quite hefty)

Confirmation is after 12 months now unless if they only did that to annoy us last year, cos prior to last year it has been 6 months.
At this stage, forget pay, after all most of us were earning zilch before being employed. In my case FBN multiplied my salary by 10, its a good start. Open your eyes wide and learn fast, don't moan about what GTB,INTER or ACCESS is paying otherwise you'll form a moaning habit too soon. Most of my colleagues have it and it sucks really. There's news making the rounds of an imminent pay rise, so you guys are coming on board at a really good time. Make yourself an asset, not a liability. Deliver service diligently and believe me, you'll be sought after.

HealthRe: Doctor in the House: Free Medical Advice Available by darqly(m): 3:54pm On Apr 20, 2007
Hello Doc,thank you for sharing your expertise with us at no cost!! In 2003 I landed badly in a basketball game and I suppose I tore some ligaments. My physio didn't do an x-ray or scan but placed me on shock therapy for some 12wks or so. A month after I stopped the therapy, I was back to the court and after only a day, my knee popped out again. Infact I daresay it was worse than the first time because of the pain!! Since school had started, I resorted to wearing a brace and didn't bother telling my physio. With time the swelling went down and the pain reduced significantly.

Last year, while in the final stage of a physical fitness test during a job interview, my knee gave way AGAIN. Needless to say that I lost the job!

Well I'm working now;If I sit for long periods, my knee hurts. If I stand for long periods, it hurts still. I only get some relief when I use my brace, it won't hurt as much. I'm worried this may persist till my old age when healing will definately be harder. What do you advise??
P.S- I'd still very much like to continue playing basketball

For all you "Nouveau" Chelsea fans, the FA cup belongs to UTD this time around. Who did u beat on the way to the finals? Tottenham was your stiffest opposition and see what they did to you shocked. Chelski is just riding more on luck than anything else,it's got to run out sometime, so why not in the finals? Man Utd pls.

On the job board, keep it simple, make it concise and as much as possible use proper tenses, spellings etc.

Some keep suggesting that employers would never come scouting on this forum for candidates so it justifies using whatever "language" one wants to use to communicate.
