I already have, this is my way, and by questioning you lot if you know who you even voted for, why, etc. The current government in Brazil came about because the people were BRAVE enuff to protest against bad and corrupt leadership- Simple.

AdvertsGemstones As A Source Of Income by darqly(op): 4:23pm On Mar 15, 2006
Nigeria has a wide variety of precious gems, as a matter of fact, it has been proven that almost all gems that are of value can be mined in the country.Obviously some Nigerian gems are the best in the world whilst others are just marginal in quality. There is an insatiable demand for these rocks outside, especially Europe and more recently, Asia. China is buying everything we can mine!
US is a good market as well, but they buy only the best are very choosey, especially when you're not present with your goods. This happens because most times, you can only courier the stones to them for inspection and appraisal before they pay.

I have sent stones to people I have never personally met and after inspection, received payment which is usually through Western Union. In the early days of the business, after sending an image of the material, you could ask for and receive a down payment as a gesture of good faith. But trust Nigeria, some boys collected cash upfront, bought fancy cars, fancy clothes, bling bling and never sent JACK to the customer- So this is quite rare. As a matter of fact, the fastest and most efficient way to lose a customer now, is to tell him to send cash upfront to Nigeria; You won't get a goodbye email.

I will give a more detailed study into what is availabe, sources, prices, etc.
Nairaland GeneralCowardly Nigerians by darqly(op): 3:54pm On Mar 15, 2006
Aren't we Nigerians just a sorry lot of cowards? I mean why can't we face up and call a spade a spade, not an implement for digging?
I suppose thats why our country is in the state it's in. We are too docile and are willing to accept crumbs and handouts as our lot, instead of demanding our due. I don't see a future for Nigeria because we want God to come down literally and strike our corrupt leaders with bolts of lightning and reward the rest of us faithfuls.
What happened to people speaking out, protest marches, active opposition to anti-people policies, ? Rather we all take a piece of silver and start singing the devils tunes (and add a dance to boot, ). Everyone is happy with the status quo and it can and will only get worse. A people deserve whatever form of government they have, we have our bitter pill and by God we will continue swallowing it till a few brave ones step up.

@ desiretom

Magongo- We are a people from Kogi State. Actually, the area itself is called Ogori-Magongo, But trust Naija now, everyone wants a place for himself even if they're only half a dozen! So Ogori is a seperate tribe and Magongo is a seperate tribe, tho the lingo is almost identical! Satisfied?? grin

SportsRe: John Mikel Obi Better Than Okocha At 19? by darqly(m): 4:43pm On Mar 11, 2006
Mikel is cute no doubt, but does de cuteness translate to skills? Did you see how hesitant he was on de ball most of the time? See how his first touch lets him down? See that he didn't mean to score de goal he did score cos de preceding touch was tooooo much?
He's being overhyped and de sooner he finds some club where he can polish up, de better for him. Far as am concerned, there is nothin excitin about Mikel's game, no one they'd bench for him. I don't see him as a regular for the next few years, in any big club.
PoliticsRe: Third Term Agenda <Vote, Comments> by darqly(m): 4:30pm On Mar 11, 2006
Just don't make sense- It's only in Africa that when a tenure is extended, it is guaranteed that the incumbent will continue, whether we like it or not! Then what is the use of elections? We might as well just appoint one LOSER and give him the 12 yrs that the amended constitution now proposes!

I say NO to any idea of third term for president, governnors, the whole damn party! I foresee grave consequences for the nation.
PoliticsLast Presidential Election: Who Did You Vote For? by darqly(op): 4:04pm On Mar 11, 2006
For as many of us that voted in 2003, let us in on who you cast your vote for and why. If you didn't or couldn't vote, you can still let us know who you would've voted for and why.

I voted for Kris Okotie (and proudly too, ). grin
Reason?
1. He rightly and outrightly won the presedential debate that is supossed to show us the best candidate.
2. He produced a Manifesto, what some of the other "contestants" didn't know they were supposed to have!
3. Pastor or no pastor, good governance is all leadership is about; In him I see the qualities that can make Nigeria the country it should have been.

Who'd you Vote for?

NYSCRe: Corpers' Lodge: Ask Questions & Share Your NYSC Experience by darqly(m): 11:32am On Mar 01, 2006
Yes,Yes wink, absolute waste of one year. I got diagnosed with the following diseases after only 3 months in Northern Nigeria- Bronchitis, Typhoid, Malaria, Asthma (Never even knew I was asthma prone till my service year and am almost 28! shocked).

Under NYSC, some people serve, whilst others are SERVED, if you catch my drift. So it depends on you really, if you can make do with no electricity, red-rust brown water, Scorpions in your bathroom and snakes in your backyard, then sign up legitimately. If not, if you can pull some strings and you'll be posted to some organization that'd give you their guest chalet as corper's accomodation( I visited a LUCKY fellow corper, found out that service had 2 meanings wink) and airtime allowance.

Anyway, our POP pix ( took this with my phone! cool)

RomanceRe: How Many People Have You Dated So Far? by darqly(m): 10:57am On Feb 24, 2006
In the beginning there was Li (From Northern Nigeria).Dark and luvly,High sch swthrt, drifted apart after sch but still remain friends.
Then There was Tomi (half Ibo,half Yoruba).Pretty,Petite, motor mouth after I got to know her.I think her friends did her in cos she just changed after one trip, dumped me when I was walking her home! Needless to say she walked home alone sad. Heard she's a Mrs now, didn't even give me an invite.
Then Adamara, the only woman I'm sure I ever loved with no reservations.Tall, pretty, smart, fantastic accent! Had to go to the US to sch,so we couldn't continue.Damn,I still miss her!
Then Ronke, broke my heart to smithereens and just said NO, after leading me on! Women.
Then MJ, loves me, love her back but circumstances are tearing us apart. dunno if we can get thru this one this time! undecided
HealthI Need To Gain Some Weight by darqly(op): 6:14pm On Feb 21, 2006
I'm into sports, in particular I play basketball. Whilst it's not exactly American football or full contact karate, there are times when having abit of flesh does help. We all have different positions on a team, and I have fit quite well into my role as small forward(emphasis on small!). Anyway, I want to experiment and change my position, so I need to gain some body mass else it's just not going to work. I'll literally get bumped back into my old position grin. What sort of diet can I go on? Any pills I can take?(P.S- I don't do steroids shocked)
Thanks all.
PoliticsRe: 16 Killed In Nigerian Cartoons Riots by darqly(m): 9:28am On Feb 20, 2006
Well, I'm a northerner and a christian and it disgusts me when ALL northerners are classed as moslems, which in turns means we are all barbarians! angry
In my own opinion, Nigerian moslems don't even begin to understand their religion and only rely on what the leaders tell them. Can't understand why a cartoon that 90% of the nation hasn't even seen can lead to the deaths of fellow human beings. Starting with them 'Honourable' members in Kano state that publicly burned a flag and asked for boycotts of Danish goods to the clown offering a reward for the life of the cartoonist, you can see blatant illiteracy. I just spent a year in Kano and the place is rundown with little government presence in infrastructure and development; the only thing new and exciting was the Hisbah or Islamic police who have powers that can be equated to the Nazi SS.
At the risk of sounding treasonable, I often imagine and dream of a Nigeria where the moslems have a land to themselves and the rest of us can just go on and live and let live. If that was the case, I imagine the moslems would have had to settle for burning and stabbing effigies instead of barbecuing humans.
RomanceRe: Can You Date Someone You Can't Marry? by darqly(m): 4:36pm On Feb 10, 2006
The way I was taught, date only those you think you can marry. This means date those that have the qualities you'd otherwise want in your dream spouse. What's the use of dating a party freak when you dread gigs undecided? Don't make sense. I subscribe to the fact that you may want to have fun before settling down, but on the whole date those that have the potential to become your spouse.
Jobs/VacanciesHow To Join The SSS, Customs by darqly(op): 3:40pm On Feb 09, 2006
Hello People,

I just passed out of the NYSC last week, yeah, yeah.thank you all.you're far too kind! I can hear your welcomes from here!

Seriously though, I have always dreamed of working with or rather for the Nigeria SSS. Does anyone know what the procedures are? When do they recruit? Where do I go to make inquiries and the like? Alternatively, the Nigeria customs. Heard they were selling forms or something like that just before our POP, don't know if they're still recruiting.

Anyone help please? Thanks

RomanceRe: Do You Remember Your First Kiss? by darqly(m): 3:13pm On Feb 02, 2006
I think I was in what we call Pre-primary school. There was this girl with a really funky American accent, I guess I went to school just to hear her speak back then! It just happened after school one day while we were waiting to be picked up- She kissed me, or I kissed her, can't remember who started it but we sure as hell continued it for abit. grin
SportsRe: John Mikel Obi. Which Club and Why? by darqly(m): 5:27pm On Jan 31, 2006
SAF is building a new team, a younger generation that'll click like Becks,Giggsy,Scholesly et al. Obi would not only get the chance to play week in-week out, but be up to claim for himself a regular starting slot. Right now, Man U's midfield is in crisis, Obi would only be too welcome to play for US.
Going to Chelski, let any 'nouveau riche' fans tell me who Jose's going to bench for Obi? SWP(the next Becks..), Joe cole(chk his work-rate), Essien(someone just paid through the nose for him),Makelele(the almighty HOLDER)?

Simple Maths, boys, chk the statistics, numbers don't lie.
SportsRe: Germany 2006: Who Will Win The World Cup? by darqly(m): 5:12pm On Jan 31, 2006
Well, I'm an England fan so I go for England winning the world cup this year. Can't see why they can't really, they are not consistent which is why most guys rule them out but let's face it, if not for Ronaldinho's freak-fluke goal, England would've been in the finals in Japan/Korea! Aside that, Holland!!
TV/MoviesRe: Nigerian Commercials (TV Adverts) by darqly(m): 10:26am On Jan 25, 2006
There's the maggi commercial where the mother goes "I always use maggi cube wit the star"....and before she's even through wit that statement, her daughter says "why the star?"and mother goes "you'll soon see". That part cracks me up!!
