Music/RadioRe: Star Quest: Nigerian Musical Talent Hunt Show by darqly(op): 1:42pm On Apr 08, 2006
Here are times the show is aired and on what channels -

Nta Network
Monday,Tuesday and Thursday 10-11pm
Sunday, Wednesday,Friday and Saturday 10:30pm

Silverbird TV Everyday 10:30pm

I don't think there's a way those outside Nigeria can watch(unless they subscribe to NTA cheesy). I think their best bet is to make do with online content i.e. Downloads, updates and pictures.

Basically, depending on who is behind any reality show, it's just a commercial gimmick. Makers of Star are carving a niche for themselves in the promotion of music and throwing in some entertainment to boot. It is true that big brother aims at entertainment, but at what cost? I believe that no good comes out of encouraging people to be salacious or treacherous just to be the last man standing.

@Badman
Yes starquest is strictly for people that are musically talented, but what do the inmates of Big brother do to display or market their talents?

Star Quest Vs Big Brother

I'm not sure how many of you are familiar with Star Quest, but it's a musical talent hunt. The contestants have been drawn at random into various bands and the winning band will get a contract. Some of these guys can really sing.

I feel it's a better investment in Nigerian youths than big brother. I don't see anything positive that big brother can add to the housemates apart from the cash, and to get it, you have to be scheming and hypocritical. They might have well just done a draw and given some lucky bastard $100k.

Check out Star Quest here and holla back: www.star-nigeria.com.

Chei, nightrider, call a spade a spade now! United do not play boring football. Mind you, we have scored the most this season in the EPL. Our strike force and strike rate is intimidating, and that's what it's meant to be. we have come this far with a 'Makeshift' midfield, imagine when de real deal comes next season.

Lehmann will probably get backache from bending to retrieve the ball outta the net grin

Red Devs, you know we have 'Plan B'? In the HIGHLY UNLIKELY event  that we don't score, Wenger will throw in Cygan.
Cygan is guaranteed,tried and tested to score an own goal!! cheesy

Pocket good ol Thierry and where will your goals come from? Kolo Toure has two 'left feet' far as Ronaldo is involved and Rooney will score from 18yds out if you all line up in front of Lehmann, who will complain of his gloves, or the upright, or the color of the friggin jersey grin
Thanks jagenne!

Yeah, just one and recently too,after 3 years. I did love this girl but sometimes love just ain't enuff. There were just too many issues- Family differences,Career objectives, health issues. She isn't a sickler but she's wont to fall ill every now and then, and her mum will just dispatch someone to come find me! That really used to tick me off, I mean it's not like we were engaged or anything yet. Bigtime warning signals, so my family kept on telling me, then my friends chipped in as well. We'd gone places with this girl, and most people assumed she was my intended. I wanted it to be so but you can only try so much really. I had no choice, I've been abit miserable since the split but life goes on. We still call every now and then and I know if circumstances change, we can still have a go at it.

Gooners should just concentrate on getting some silverware for your mercenary "King" cos if you end up trophyless, it's bye bye Thierry from Highbury grin

Who Put Henry in his 'backpocket' the last time?
Who twisted lauren and invited 'Kolo' to the fray, then left them both tryin to catch up?

Gunners de last time even your king admitted that Man U outplayed and outclassed them.
I don't see anything different with this game, except maybe the excitement at seeing Wenger give Fergie the briefest of shakes after the defeat, er, debacle, er,

Ronaldo to set up Rooney's goal; Van the man to kill off the game; Saha can just go on and run riot!!

Red Devils rule others drool,

Make that an 8 Match unbeaten streak. The battle of Old Trafford was an epic game and Ronaldo's gonna make em dance "Kerewa" like he did last season.

Ok place ur bets- Rooney to score first against Gunners and I'm sure Ronaldo will grab a goal in this game!!

@ Oasis, I beg to disagree big time there. If any animosity exists, then it's both ways. And then from personal experience, we can and do try to mingle especially with Ibo(Women folk) smiley. At least they don't keep thinking we'll stab them in the back. Not all Hausa folk are like this, some that are deep-rooted in their backwardness and insist on carrying on a feud that they weren't even born into.But since this is the case, then it holds sway for the Ibos as well man. I didn't grow up in core North so I'm more broadminded than mosta my people and am a christian.
I have been welcomed by Ibo families,dated Ibo girls and have Ibos as some of my tight friends. It's reciprocal, U get luv if U show some!!

LiteratureRe: Robert Ludlum Or John Grisham? by darqly(m): 6:08pm On Mar 31, 2006
@ gigid, perhaps basing my arguments on the movie adaptations is not entirely foolproof; I for one do know that alot of originality is lost in translating novels to movies. Nonetheless, there are some that give you an almost intimate feel of what the author intended. I have read The day of the Jackal, and I have watched the movie and I guarantee that any novice can watch the movie first and claim to have read that novel because the intepretation was a masterpiece, same goes for The Odessa File(both by Frederick Forsyth).

The thing is they're a parallel- movies and novels,they cater for 2 diverse classes and I do prefer reading the novels to watching the movie adaptations!

Anybody read any Wilbur Smith? "Shout at the Devil", "Gold"? Most of his settings are in Africa, excellent stories!

LiteratureRe: Robert Ludlum Or John Grisham? by darqly(m): 11:39am On Mar 30, 2006
The thing is it depends on the content, Grisham's style is law stuff and/or crime. For me, after a while it pretty much becomes boring. This is especailly true when you get the watch the movies of the books. The movie "The Firm", "The Client" et al are just too predictable, too closely identical. Sort of like all he does is change the characters, plot and base them on the same framework.

Ludlum on the other hand I find is refreshing and hard to put down. He weaves his stories on conspiracies- each with it's own uniqueness and terror. I read books and lookout for the movies or vice versa; The Bourne Identity (The one made in 1988) is a very credible remake of the book and it takes you along as you watch, making you ask 'Is he or is he not?' The remake is not too far off as well but I find all that high tech stuff just too artificial for my tastes!

Us Ludlum fans often get together and actually place ourselves in Jason Bourne's shoes, trying to imagine what it must be like, pondering your next move and so on. The Authors style allows you room to "role play". Just like in The Aquitaine Progression.

Stephen King is my King of the authors though; How can he possibly not go nuts sometime?? Dean Koontz? nah, scifi is not my style.

ABUJA (Reuters) - Former Liberian President Charles Taylor, wanted for war crimes by a court in Sierra Leone, has disappeared from his residence in southeastern Nigeria, the presidency said on Tuesday.

A statement said Nigeria would investigate whether Taylor had escaped or been abducted. President Olusegun Obasanjo has ordered the arrest of all security staff attached to Taylor, who has lived in exile in Nigeria since 2003.
Sad country, the president himself should be held accountable by the Liberian Govt in my opinion.

How funny is your post?

I initially thought you were going to comment as an outsider (because of the way you started your post).
But then as I read on, I realised I was reading nothing more than another biased comment from a Man Utd. fan.
That am a Red Dev doesn't mean I can't be objective, I can and will give credit where it is due. U're miffed only because I let in on the fact that am pro Man Utd!

@Jackal
Hometruth there!! Henry gets to play week in week out cos he's alone. It's not so much about quality when it comes to Henry playing all the games, there's no one to give him a good run for his "Goals". If Wenger does increase his squad, Henry won't be first choice all de time and it wont be because he's any worse.

@Reyes4eva
I rest my case then. Different roles, different strategies hence different players!

@ thekrafter

Thanks for setting the records straight really. It's only natural for fans of either club to beef de other striker in question. But de fact remains- What's de job of a striker? To put de ball into the back of de net,QED. Who cares if he uses his head, left leg, k-leg,crotch et al? RVN will outscore Henry any day, take it or leave it gunners (i think mosta y'all will leave it sha grin). On the other hand, Henry can and will outcreate RVN when it comes to scoring chances. That Henry is currently ahead on goals in the EPL is because RVN has been on the bench. Game for game till the end of the season, RVN will score more goals than "DE KING".

P.S- When Henry leaves Highbury end of the season, and tries to catch up with Etoo in La Liga, gunners will know that too much premium was placed on good ol 'vavavoooom'!!
