A no-fly list is a register of people banned from boarding commercial aircrafts for travel within, into, or out of a country. The Defence Intelligence Agency of the Nigerian military is behind a no-fly list containing names of some persons, who took active parts in the recent #EndSARS protest across the country, a source at the Nigeria Immigration Service has told SaharaReporters. A no-fly list is a register of people banned from boarding commercial aircrafts for travel within, into, or out of a country. A particular case of reference is that of a lawyer, Modupe Odele, who was prevented by the NIS from making a trip to the Maldives where she was billed to celebrate her birthday. While it was initially thought that the NIS acted alone in that incident, SaharaReporters has now confirmed that the names of Odele and other active participants in the protest were included on the list by the Defence Intelligence Agency following their efforts in rallying demonstrators at the Lekki Toll Gate area of Lagos where Nigerian Army personnel attacked and killed several protesters on the evening of October 20, 2020. “Odele was prevented from travelling as a result of a memo from the Nigerian military claiming that they were investigating her. "The military sent us a no-fly list of EndSARS leaders especially agitators involved at the Lekki protest,” the NIS source told SaharaReporters. Earlier on Monday, Odele had shared with her friends how she was stopped by NIS from travelling out of the country at the Lagos airport. She said, “I went to the airport, passed through immigration, and while I was putting my bags through the body and baggage scanner, the immigration officer who had previously cleared me, called me back. He told me he had orders from above to detain me. “Okay, at this point I’m like ‘excuse me, my flight is in an hour. On what grounds are you detaining me?’ He didn’t respond. Instead, he goes to his computer where he typed in my name and something that looked like a ‘wanted poster’ popped up on the portal. “He blocked my view so I couldn’t see most of it but I saw some of it. And it read something like – ‘This person is under investigation by XYZ intelligence agency. If seen, they should be apprehended on sight." Odele, during the nationwide protest, offered her services as a lawyer free of charge to help release scores of participants arrested and detained by the police for exercising their rights. “I’m not a full-time activist or human rights attorney. I am a corporate lawyer at the moment so dealing with police stations isn’t my area of expertise. I did what needed to be done in the face of gross injustice and had the support of over 800 wonderful volunteer lawyers,” she said. Following the controversy generated by news of the no-fly list, the Ministry of Interior under which the NIS falls under on Tuesday quickly distanced itself from the situation. In a post on its Twitter handle, the ministry said, “The Ministry of Interior did not, has not and will not generate any no-fly list. Ignore fake news, please!” The Nigerian Army has since confirmed that its personnel were invited by the Lagos State Government to break the peaceful protest at Lekki Toll Gate after initial denials by the military and Lagos governor, Babajide Sanwo- Olu. Over 10 persons were killed during that incident with the Nigerian Army personnel taking away at least eight bodies to conceal the massacre. saharareporters.com/2020/11/03/nigerian-military-put-endsars-leaders-no-fly-list-immigration-source-reveals

Two suspected members of a robbery gang specialised in attacking residents and snatching their personal belongings at gunpoint have been arrested in Ondo State. Asukwo Abednego and Ajiwe Oluwaseun were nabbed by officers of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps in Akure, the state capital. The duo, who always pretended to be commercial motorcyclists, were in the habit of searching for passengers and robbing them. The suspects are part of a gang terrorising residents of Osinle, Ijoka, Danjuma, Oluwatuyi and Oke Aro areas of Akure. The Ondo NSCDC Commandant, Eweka Edenabu, paraded the suspects and said they had been on the watch list of the command for several months before they were finally caught. He said, "One of the suspects normally posed as Okada rider in search of passengers while the other two suspects would hide. "As soon as the motorcyclists (who is also a member of their gang) pick a passenger and approaches a lonely terrain; the riders would stop in the pretense that the motorcycle was faulty and the two suspects would come out from their hideouts, unleash terror on the victim and cart away all his or her belongings." Edenabu explained that the two suspects had confessed to the crime through their statements, adding that they would be charged to court. According to him, no less than seven residents, who had fallen victim to the gang, had visited the command to identify the suspects. He listed items recovered from the suspects to include an unregistered motorcycle, a bag containing baby and female dresses, three mobile phones and the sum of N4,600. The Ondo NSCDC Commandant said would continue to partner other security agencies in the state to tackle crime in the state. saharareporters.com/2020/11/04/nscdc-arrests-two-robbery-suspects-terrorising-ondo-residents

Righteousness89:I am not against preaching the Gospel. In fact I am a Teacher of the word by calling, but you see preaching online is fruitless. For starters, does your life in reality depicts Christ? All I am saying is go preach the Word to that Aboki that sells Suya, and may die without ever hearing the Gospel. Matthew 24:14 And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come. PRESS RELEASE
NAF DID NOT RECEIVE ANY ‘RESCUE CALLS’
REGARDING ATTACK ON BORNO VILLAGE ON 1
NOVEMBER 2020
The attention of the Nigerian Air Force (NAF)
has been drawn to a publication in an online
platform alleging that it “did not respond to calls
for support when suspected Boko Haram
insurgents attacked Takulashi Village in Shikarkir
Ward, Chibok Local Government Area (LGA) of
Borno State in the morning of Sunday, 1
November 2020”; an information which the report
alleges it obtained from supposed “military
sources”. The NAF wishes to state that there is
absolutely no iota of truth in the spurious
allegations. Indeed, we ordinarily would not have
responded to such baseless, unfounded
allegations but for the need to set the record
straight as well as reaffirm the NAF’s unflinching
commitment to ensuring the security of Nigeria
and Nigerians, wherever they may reside in the
Country.
For the avoidance of doubt, it must be stated
that the NAF did not receive any call for support
regarding an attack at Takulashi Village in
Chibok LGA on 1 November 2020. Had any such
report been received, the NAF, in its
characteristic responsiveness, would have
certainly taken appropriate action. Indeed, the
report rightly remarked that “if air support came
on time, one or two air strikes would have
decimated them”. However, no request in this
regard was made to the Air Task Force of
Operation LAFIYA DOLE (ATF OPLD) on the said
date. Accordingly, it was very wrong of the
report to state, without any basis, that the NAF
‘ignored rescue calls’.
It is pertinent to highlight that the NAF, through
the ATF OPLD, has flown over 26,000 hours of
Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance
(ISR) and air interdiction missions as well as
close air support missions in support of
Operation LAFIYA DOLE in the last 5 years. The
NAF has been working ‘hand-in-glove’ with other
security agencies and has a crop of well-trained,
highly-motivated young pilots that are ever ready
and willing to respond to emergencies, whenever
called upon. Hence, it is utterly ludicrous to
insinuate that the NAF would fail to respond to
any such situation, if called upon. The general
public is therefore enjoined to discountenance
the evidently false report.
It is equally disingenuous of the online medium
to refer to an isolated incident that had its
peculiar nuances of predisposition to collateral
damage as a basis for justifying their blatantly
false claims. This smacks of gross
unprofessionalism and obvious deliberate intent
at mischief.
The NAF, as a professional and disciplined force,
has and will continue to do its utmost to ensure
the security of Nigeria and Nigerians across the
Country. We remain resolute in performing our
function and will continue to work in synergy with
other security agencies to rid the Country of
insurgents. Hence, we will not be distracted by
such evidently orchestrated attempts to tarnish
the hard-earned, good image of the Service.

[quote author=Marine54 post=95563120]Do you understand what is rules of engagement ?[/quoteThe R.E has instances where it is being waived. Like I said earlier buratai and his caucus put it across to bihari that the protesters were threatening the democracy and sovereignty of Nigeria. Which is obviously a lie, and perfect example of ass licking. Hence, an executive order from Buratai, approved by Buhari moved for the massacre of innocent protesters. in fact at this stage it will be best I keep shut, I've revealed quite enough. My life or career could be at risk. Just know the Generals don't give a shit about R.E, people who kill BH child soldiers. |
