Seems we can create some kind of report card with categories so we can list players in different levels of club levels and those we can class in the red flag zone.

we will take their playing stats and their club relevance and identity and use it to model a general scoreboard for most of our players playing in different leagues. their moves from club to club and trophies etc. what dyu think?

Well I have my own way of defining it. I’m not a TYPICAL Nigerian, that can swear anything out of sentiments.

As regards your example, Nigeria’s golden generation were the first to take us to the World Cup. You can hardly mention Nigerian football without talking about that 94 set which was a culmination of Westehof’s building for about 5 years. IMO our most impressive players in that era will definitively make the list of Super Eagles legends, and of course together with other iconic players before their era. These names would be first names to be mentioned for a long time to come BECAUSE OF THEIR EXPLOITS IN THE GREEN WHITE GREEN.

Modified
Yekini was very well celebrated even before Tunisia 94. I remember as a child always hearing his name. I didn’t know him until after the World Cup lol.

But yes talking about legends, let people who really followed the game and know the history speak — Iconic monikers like icon4s (pun unintended) and Kog45
lol.

Lemme just keep mute at the part you talked about those who really followed the game. Cos I don't talk it on here? grin is okay. only Sir mujtahida knows.

Iwobi passes Kante and Rudiger and had to be fouled. He has a big touche of gold in him. simple!!

It's something I've always heard my dad talk about for decades since I was a kid.

I recall 6years ago, my grand uncle died and a family meeting was called.

In the meeting, those who knew my dad for his outright vehemence against squandering of money on lavish things were ready for him.

They budgeted 16m for the burial.

My dad said its better they divert such funds to better ventures that can affect lives for years. They shouted at him despite being the eldest in the meeting.

Last last 6cows were killed and some several bushmeat as well.

All of them are broke now.... like they came apologize for their conduct that day.

Funny enough, on my own personal observation, I discovered everyone on the Christian side that lost a loved one always write "Gone to Glory" as though they knew where such a soul went to. what kind of blind hope is that?

A sister's account in 2010 I can't forget.

Her dad was old and he was mean and wicked in deeds and actions. He went to church ceremoniously. He fell ill and the morning he was to die, he began to shout "fire fire fire, no not this place now.... "

No matter how dumb you wanna be, you'll know he saw where he was going to spend eternity. He gave up the ghost with a finger in his mouth. His last words were "O MA se o"

They still wrote Gone to Glory on his Burial ceremony order of program!!!

She was the only one that didn't do anything cos she was sad that despite efforts for him to change, he was still in his Adamic self. It's not being judgemental. It's just reality.

The OP's account is right.

They'll leave an old man in illness in a rural area in poverty and no show of care for him. Only to know on the burial day that he has son's and daughters that are very rich here and there and are well placed in the society and travel abroad frequently.

Solomon was right, all is vanity and a chasing after the wind....

Be sure of where you want to spend Eternity!!!

@Joebie, dyu know that the Nigerian way of qualifying to be a legend is just one act that makes the whole country go wow for years to come.... See likes of Yekini. For example that his first goal at the world cup is what is etched in the minds of hundreds of Nigerians. it was one act that made him Everly remembered. Many can't even remember how and when he scored his other 36goals. grin

Aghahowa and his back flips. who can forget that too? Some see as legendary!

Okocha too has that status, many in here with use analysis to say he doesn't.

Finidi George

Taribo West lol

Peter Rufai grin grin

Ike Shorunmu grin

Oliseh's thunderous strike earned him that status.... did he have other great games like that again?

On and on..... Osaze too can't be forgotten even up till now. Mikel has been around for so long that it's the length, and not the heroics, if there are many to count, that would earn him the status.

Moses has such moments in 5years. Besides He reduced the the blood pressure of many retirees watching their TV sets. Lol.

It's a relative term and Nigeria has its own unique definition. This settles it.

European way is a Lil heroics+length of time spent playing for the team.

Miss Nairaland is not a true beauty pageant contest. Wetin the winners dey do? How far dem dey go? Aside the first Miss Nairaland, Adaobi123, I can barely even remember the rest. Miss Nairaland is just a popularity contest. We are talking about pageants here

Most girls entering these beauty pageants honestly have nothing else to offer aside their looks, and can you really blame them? They Mame these women sell their bodies in the name of selling tickets to raise money for the pageant organisers. These women are objectified by making them parade for some sex-starved men to ogle them, you only have to find their brain capacity when they have been streamlined to five.

Is it okay to judge 32 or so contestants based on the errors of just five of them? Especially when you find that some of them may have lost major points because they didn't sell enough tickets, not necessarily because their carriage was bad or they weren't pretty enough.
Funnily, many peeps on here know that the online contest is actually a popularity contest. Miss Nairaland not having the backing of the owner makes it seem drab and uninteresting, but Dygeasy has tried, running stuff solo till the team stuff came about; bottom line is I agree about the Mr and Miss Nairaland. How far has Adaobi gone in the business though?

But my comment your quoted was about her winning real life beauty pageants@Lanicky. She's tried. infact I don't even remember much about all these online contests.

Glad we're on the same page about the Pageantry stuff all across Nigeria and the world as a whole. My chaperone experience in 2yrs is enough to pull out cos truly your points are all facts as well. It's sad.

But she's tried@Lanicky.
Education › Re: How Thousands Of Teen Students In U.K. Celebrated Their A-level Results(Photos) by daveP(m):
I love this news.

Someone is saying that Nigerians are already bashing their own cos of this.

See are you happy that our Edusector is the way it is with a 70yr old system that is wack?

Plus the corruption and the watering down of getting good grades from a good teaching, and well informed and helping lecturing system?

It's not about the A grade. It's about the full and deliberate attempts and hard work that the teachers put into the kids, with only their success on their minds. That's it!!!

They just want these kids to prosper and leave well.

Someone fails a C.A, the lecturer in UK would pick the phone and call and wish to see why the student failed, and then do one or two to make such a student catch up fast, if not better.

Here, the lecturer would enter the class and be bragging and happy and sermonizing how students aren't serious and all that nonsense. Cos their sermons seem sweet, it makes it look legal. But it's wrong.

189 people take a course by a Dr.

Only 12 people had an A grade and only 34 people had a pass. The rest had an F. Is that supposed to make the lecturer happy and comfy?

Or in a situation like this....

A lecturer is good to students. Wants their best and then he makes things easy. Result comes out and all passed with at worse a C grade.

Dyu know that some departments would query such a lecturer, that why did he pass them all? That some supposed to have F so that the Senate would not think something is fishy. Like we can see its not only Bubu that is thinking
backwards now!!!!

I'm happy seeing these young ones happy and also celebrating their A.

This Moses argument never end?

I can't call him a Legend yet, but he was very pivotal to Afcon 2013 than Mikel. Simple.

Mba sits among Legends cos his solo contributions to the title sits well in the hearts of Nigerians for that goal that made 180million peeps jump up in front of their TV sets just like Kanu's winning Goal at Atlanta 96. That's why Mba sits there.

If you like play like Iniesta and don't do what Kanu and Mba did at very vital moments, you can't be qualified as a legend. That's the Nigerian way!!! Has VicMo done that? Nope!! So he can't be called a SE legend. guy doesn't even have 70caps sef. Kanu wasn't even playing well in the final prior to his heroics in Atlanta.

Hence, I can say that It's the same eyes that we use to look at Mikel for his heroics Vs CIV. But Moses has done far far more than Mikel did to our team. Siasia was one of the coaches that proved his team can work without the presence of Mikel. But remove Moses from our attack line and we are back to our High blood pressure days again. The ish was that he grew selfish as time flew by. I think that's the eye peeps are using to see him, I did to.

The same eye peeps use to see Yakubu for his miss at 2010 WC. Meanwhile he had a very good record as an attacker for both club and country.

That's just it.

These footballers should know that's how we see them.

Mba can never ever be forgotten in decades to come until we have another superlative heroic from any current or new SE player. simple.

Yeah. I can't change the school of thought that Nigeria has bastardized this pageantry of a thing. Been in the chaperone business the last few years and it's really really bastardized.

Lanicky however, has been a big big difference so far; and exception from the candidates I've seen so far. Perhaps the trend might be extended soon....

Intelligent girls are good.

Not like one I saw in a University pageant and she swapped the definitions of manicure for pedicure. Some ladies said its excusable. I almost slapped them.
