xandy84: I am not a fan of GEJ or Buhari but comparing the numbers of private jobs created or lost during this administration, GEj economic policies is ahead of Buhari. My take though I agree but don't forget that during the Jonathan administration the so called growth in the economy was due to a commodities (oil) boom and if there is anything we have learnt. Its that commodities fueled economies are fools gold since they rise and fall at the price of the said commodity. Nigeria's economy was able to grow as a result of the oil boom and when the market crashed, we could all see that the Nigerian economy was built on the sand. |

xandy84: This government is cut in between doing the right things and saying what average Nigerians want to hear which is embedded in our emotional thinking ways of life. GEJ has his many faults but his goal on creating enabling business environment stand him out and this government should take a leaf from that. Government does not have business in doing business and any business government ventures into which is not provision of social services is dead on arrival. The best government in history is not judge about the numbers of jobs they created, they are judge how they provide enabling business environment with it multiple spiral effect of job creation and increase standing of living. While you do have a good point, i disagree with some of your statements. First of all, the Jonathan administration did very little to enact fundamental economic changes that the country needed. He failed to stamp out corruption: Nigeria's rank is 136 out of 167 countries according to Transparency international. He also failed to make Nigeria a conducive place for business: Nigeria is ranked at 116 out of 178 ranked countries in terms of economic freedoms index and in terms of the ease of doing business Nigeria is ranked at 169 by the World Bank and you guys wonder why Nigeria is poor. http://www.heritage.org/index/rankinghttp://www.transparency.org/cpi2015http://www.doingbusiness.org/rankingsThe best government in history is not judge about the numbers of jobs they created they are judge how they provide enabling business environment with it multiple spiral effect of job creation and increase standing of living. Actually one of the indices to measure how business friendly an economy is, is by measuring the amount of private sector jobs that were created during a certain time period. Govts around the world usually boast about the number of jobs that were created under there administration as it is a good indication of how effective there economic policy's were. |

xandy84: Sounds like a nice idea but the world has move from government employing people. The job of government world over is to create enable environment for private sector to trive. This government should concentrate on creating business friendly environment and leave the employment to private sector. PREACH!!!! When would we learn that it's not the govts job to provide jobs for the people but to create an enabling environment to allow businesses to flourish? Goodness! The level of amateurism in governance in this country is STAGGERING. |

When you don't know how to delegate effectively why won't you be tired? Leadership is about putting the right people in the right positions and getting out of there way not about micro-managing. If you do that you would burn out in no time. When they say they should recruit the right people they wont, instead they would go and be putting their friends and there cousins in important post and they would be wondering why things don't work. |
Politics › Re: I Am Tired Of Being Governor, Says El-rufai by davidif: 5:07am On Nov 06, 2016 |
mirexxx: Kaduna state Governor, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai claims he is already tired of being governor as job is extremely demanding and so time-consuming that he doesn’t have time for other personal activities.
According to PREMIUM TIMES , speaking at the Ake Arts and Book Festival which held in Abeokuta, Ogun State, el-Rufai said, ”In the last two years, I have been busy with opposition, new political party and elections. I used to read a book a week when I was less busy. But now, I just read files and documents and so on. My advice to anyone that thinks being governor is nice, don’t try it. You don’t get to read; you don’t have a life.”
”We are negotiating contracts that were awarded. Some of them were excessively inflated. We are recovering monies that had been paid for work not done. We are doing so because we are more interested in recovering the monies than humiliating and exposing the people that did it.”
As a state governor the challenge for me is what to do to create jobs in Kaduna State. Eighty-two per cent of the eight million people in Kaduna State are below the age of 35. My challenge is not whether population grows next year or the year after. It is to get jobs for this young people, otherwise no one will sleep in peace.”
”Frankly speaking, five months as governor, I am already tired. I honestly do not think that anyone who wants to do this job seriously can do it for more than four years and not burn out. When I look at some of my colleagues, some are putting on weight, they are looking nice, I ask them, ‘how do you do it?”
”It is the third largest state in Nigeria in terms of population and land areas, with huge challenges. We are very close to the North East. We have to be worried about suicide bombers everyday”.
