Foreign AffairsRe: Mccain For President: Say No To Nobama by davidif(op): 4:08am On Oct 07, 2008
Sarah Palin's addition to the ticket was either a feeble attempt to lure those who would have chosen Hillary Clinton, or John McCain was pressured to pick her by the far right of the Republican Party. If they chose Sarah Palin to try to win over Hillary's supporters, what were they thinking? The only thing Sarah Palin and Hillary Clinton have in common is that they're both female.
Blackspade, you have nooooooooo idea how americans love this woman, she is so anti-Hillary and they love her for that. Trust me, i live in middle America, and believe me when i say this, they would have prefered a Palin/McCain ticket and not a McCain/Palin ticket. They are sooooooooo enamored with this woman its not even funny. She also galvanizes the religious right as McCain is not seen as conservative enough.

I disagree with you davidif. I, and many other Africans look at the issues when discussing this election. Sarah Palin linking Barack Obama to terrorism yesterday was the final straw for me. That was low, even for a 'dirty' election campaign. It's fine to dislike Obama, but dislike him based on his policies, not his f.ucking name, or any alleged links to terrorism.
Hey blackspade, this is politics and everything is fair game, remember karl rove in 2000 and 2004?

Of course, i would have prefered Mitt Romney or even Bobby Jindal but he went for Palin to appease the christian right and win more votes. It was basically a strategic decision.

Most of all,if he is not good as the poster wants us to believe Americans wouldn't nominate him over Hillary clinton.
Because hillary is not likeable. A lot of Americans do hate clinton whether you like it or not.

OJ flaunted his trophy white blonde wife in the public eye, and an example HAD to be made to remind American blacks that such relationships are no more tolerated in the hearts of white Americans now than was the case back in the Jim Crow days of yore when screaming white lynch mobs formed at the drop of a hat to "put the nigger in his place".
Jakumo, what are you talking about?? OJ is regarded as a murderer. If he hadn't murdered his wife, then we wouldn't be shouting about all this.

MILAN, Italy (AP) -Being arrogant is all part of a strategy for Jose Mourinho.

The new Inter Milan coach has lashed out at rival coaches and the media at will since arriving in Italy, including an ugly verbal tussle with a journalist this week that ended with Mourinho declaring how much money he makes.

"Everyone is free to interpret things how they want to, but the last thing you can expect from me is that after a game I go to the press and criticize my players,'' Mourinho said Friday. "I'll never do that. After a loss or a draw I don't go hiding. ,  I like the players to feel protected. They're calm because I'm the man to beat, I'm the one who's not nice, I'm the arrogant one, I'm the incapable coach. This is positive for us.''

Mourinho is under pressure after losing the derby to AC Milan last weekend, then drawing 1-1 with Werder Bremen in the Champions League on Wednesday.

On Tuesday, Mourinho became agitated when he was besieged by questions about the derby, telling a roomful of journalists that it was too easy to criticize the lineup after the game.

One journalist replied that he would help out with the starting lineups if Mourinho gave him part of his ?9 million (US$12.6 million) salary, to which Mourinho snapped back, "It's ?11 million, and I get ?14 million if you count sponsorships.'''

Inter later issued a statement saying that none of the figures were correct.Inter hosts struggling Bologna on Saturday.

On your Claim that Obama is just trying to have popular  appeal, this is the same man that voted against the war in Iraq at a time it was politically risky to do so
No he didn't vote for the war because he was not a US senator at the time.

The  US Economy is failing today because or the conservative fiscal attitude of Markets without any regulation which has in turn led to the collapse of the markets due practices by unscrupulous individuals that has been unchecked.
Actually the subprime mortgage lending started in 1999 with the clinton administrations decision to allow poor people (or people who were not qualified for loans) to get it.

Hey let's all argue with some class and not become unnecessarily impassioned.
PoliticsRe: A Must See Pictures From Ariaria International Market Aba by davidif: 7:31pm On Oct 04, 2008
Eat your heart out Los Angeles, because Rodeo Drive will NEVER be as scenic as these breath-taking pictures of Nigeria's shopping malls , and the same goes to you, London, because Oxford Street will NEVER be able to boast of a central brown-water CANAL deep enough to float the boat of customers who choose to shop from the seat of their Kawasaki jet-skis or recreational canoes.

I note with great pride the botanical gardens tastefully planted on the roofs several hovels in the foregoing pictures. This environmentally friendly concept of combining avant-garde architecture with roof-top greenhouse gas-absorbing gardens is only BEGINNING to be explored in the West and Far East, obviously with inspiration sparked during furtive espionage trips by foreign architects to Nigeria, where visionary urban-planning concepts are invented daily.
O boy you are clown of the highest order grin grin grin. Your sarcasm is second to none.
PoliticsRe: Oj Simpson In The Net At Last by davidif: 7:14pm On Oct 04, 2008
While OJ Simpson was by NO means an ideal husband, he NEVER did in truth murder anyone, yet his REAL sin against White America was deemed to be far more grievous than homicide - He fell in love with and married a beautiful white, blonde-haired, blue-eyed woman,
That's a lie, everybody knows he had something to do with the murder. heck, he even published a book about the murder titled "if i did it".
Concerning the interracial thing, there are a blacks who date whites and its not a big deal as it used to be, you are blowing it waaaaaaaaaay out of proportion.
Foreign AffairsMccain For President: Say No To Nobama by davidif(op): 6:13am On Oct 04, 2008
Let's face it, the reason why most of you support NObama for President is because he is black or because his dad was from Africa. Majority of you guys don't even know his party beliefs or what they stand for.

This guy is a new senator serving just his first term and he is so inexperienced, is he the guy who going to lead American in probably one of the most important eras in American history? I don't think so, the leader who is going to do that is someone who is tough, experienced and decisive like McCain who was a warhero and known as a maverick in the senate. In case, you didn't know, America is in a huge moment of crisis, with the credit crunch, mortgage meltdown a ballooning deficit and a war we can't seem to get out and the last thing we need is another popular celebrity with all style and no substance. Like one recent commercial said, "he may be the one, but is he ready to lead?" is record in the senate says NO!!!! He voted present in the senate over 150 times and yet he refused to vote on any meaningful legislation. What does that tell us? that he is very indecisive, and Americans have learnt what indecision in the oval office can cause (see: Jimmy Carter). Americans would rather stick with a president who is wrong but who is decisive and bold than one who might be right but indecisive. John McCain has principles to stick with his convictions in the face of the tide. He supported the surge even when it was not popular, and now that it is now a success, everybody seems to be on board. Most important is that he unlike Obama he doesn't form his political arguements on popular opinion. With John McCain, you know where you stand but with Obama he seems to be shifting all the time.

NObama seems to promises a lot more than he can deliever, he claims to be a uniter but he has a mentor who happens to be a racist pastor but besides all that, what's worse is that you don't know where he stands he seems to craft his stance based on popular opinion he belongs to a party that has traditionally TOLERATED HOMOSEXUAL MARRIAGE AND ABORTION. I don't know how you can call yourselves people of religion and still root for the democrats. The man advocates cutting and running and leaving the iraqis behind while they are ill-equipped to fight the war themselves. If America cannot get the job done now and leave in just 16months, something would force them in future to come back. Like John McCain said about a soldier who told him "let us win sir, so that my children won't have to come back here". The iraqi's are not fully ready so we can't leave them behind, it would be immoral. Can you imagine what would have happened if we had left the Germans after winning world war 2, the soviets would have taken Germany putting England and France under a gun.  The last time we left people behind they got swallowed (read: the vietnam war), this means we can't bail out on them like that.

Another reason, to vote for McCain is so that i can oogle at Palin for the next 4 years grin grin grin.

By the way, let's keep this arguement CIVIL.

PoliticsI Wish Nigeria Luck — Obasanjo by davidif(op): 2:22am On Oct 01, 2008
Former President Olusegun Obasanjo on his return from Libya has wished Nigeria goodluck as the nation celebrates its 48 years of independence.

File
Chief Olusegun Obasanjo

Obasanjo, who arrived aboard a Boeing 707 aircraft with registration number TZ-TAC at the presidentail lounge of the Murtala Muhammed Airport, Ikeja, Lagos, said, “Libya was fine, it was nice travelling there to see my friend, Gaddafi. I wish Nigeria luck in its 48th independence anniversary.”

When journalists prodded him on his assessment of Nigeria since independence, Obasanjo simply said in Yoruba, “Ti ‘ lekun mi”, meaning “shut my door.”

He was accompanied on the trip by his former spokesman, Dr. Doyin Okupe, his childhood friend, Chief Femi Olapade, and his daughter, Ronke.

Obasanjo flew in about 4.40 pm, and shortly after alighting from the aircraft boarded a waiting GMC executive utility sports vehicle with registration number Lagos CV-48-APP.

Dressed in a cream buba and pair of trousers attire with a cap, the former president said, ” Barka de Sallah to you all. I wish Nigeria good luck in 48 years of independence.”

He waited in the car for a few minutes for his Nigerian passport to be stamped by immigration officials, before he rode in a four-car convoy out of the presidential lounge.
