Give people good jobs and provide effective law enforcement and you would lower the levels of fraud SIGNIFICANTLY. |
Sorry this is just a rough draft but everybody should contribute to this thread rather than being an armchair critic. What the governor should do to depopulate the urban areas and he should do it by installing property taxes to deter people from settling in the city. For example, a $17000 minimum tax on all residents plus any additional percentage depending on your economic class (e.g 17,000 + 28% of income of tax per acre of land you own)would make people flee the city and resettle in the rural areas and the revenue would be used to transform the city to Dubai or Berne and make LASU and LAUTECH the next MIT, or Caltech. Remember that the country with the best educational system always comes out on top. Before he can do all this he needs to develop the rural areas so that people wouldn't hesitate to live there and the best way to do that is to invest in agriculture and tax the farmers to use the money to develop the rural areas by creating free education and free healthcare (people in the 21st century should not be dying of typhoid or malaria or contracting polio). Free education and free healthcare would definitely attract a lot of people to the countryside and with a sophisticated transportation system particularly railway, would lead to a less clogged up Lagos. A subway system is what the city really needs because of the heavy traffic, so it should charge very high fees for parking permits (20,000 per month) anywhere in the city which would force people to dump there cars at home and ride the train more rather than parking the roads with countless cars including 'molues" and "keke marwa's". The state govt should levy every business a property tax and each business must comply with city ordinances by building a parking lot so that we don't have many cars parked by the roadside causing traffic jams and so that the govt can easily tax them rather than taxing everybody with a car. The city should be subdivided into different districts like business districts (for the skyscapers), school districts, religious districts. We can't have chaos around the city with a mosque in the middle of a market place on Friday causing "go-slow". He should lead a state led industrialization drive in the rural areas by creating food processing plants and other light industries like textile factories in the rural areas, this would create jobs so that that all those guys who have gone to the city to look for work and ended up becoming agberos and ashewos to make ends meet would now come back home. |
McCain won the debate last night while "the chosen one" simply looked proffessorial and flat. |
Early ke?? By the way, what makes you think it was so "early" in his career, we don't even know what his real age is. |
wooooooah
|
@olaolufred I know i am an adult and i am not supposed to say "i told you so" but, HA HA HA HA HA, WHO IS LAUGHING NOW. |
oga chriscox, i forgot something also, i think it would be better to move to Abuja where it is more developed so you can start your own consulting company or work for any IT company. |
The Monday after i was married:Awwwww, that is sooooooooo extremely sweet. That's the best line ever. |
Why can't the women just support themselves. Must they rely on their husbands to support them? How?? sistawoman, obviously you are an american and have probably never been to Nigeria before. Although, no one would raise an eyebrow if a man provides 100% of the family expenses.\ Gbam take you o jare sauron, you got that on point, i can't expect my wife to pay for the mortgage or the bills even if she is making six figures, how is she going to respect me after that. |
No, never! we will never allow that to happen. They can't break the jail because they will be put right into dungeonlol. |
Why are you holding a guitar like a viola, Is that whats cool in the streets?ha ha ha. |
o boi, go find place sidon jare, look at this one. english ko, urhobo ni. |
@poster oga chriscox, why would you want to leave the UK and come to this useless joke of a country. Please, unless you have to don't come to naija but if you do eventually decide to come, then go to Calabar and Abuja and NOT lagos or port harcourt abeg. |
Truly and speaking can someone tell me which welfare service still works in Nigeria; the state and province please!NONE |
Oh yeah, i see it. McCain has a better plan for handling the economic crisis than Obama, the guy believes in solving the problem from the grass roots rather than a top down approach that obama has supported. McCain wants the fed. govt to buy bad mortgages from Americans while providindg those who could prove they were credit worthy fixed rate mortgage loans from the FHA (federal housing administration). This is the best way to solve the problem. |
the iranian president is no role model and more like a puppet of the ayatollah and mullahs who are REAL rulers of iran. ahmadenijad is just a PR nuisance.GBAM. |
@poster you are an extremely bitter bitter dude, well seeing that you have an extremely bitter fervor, it would be dumb trying to even argue with you. You are just like every other Nigerian out there, they whine and whine and whine and complain how the world has wronged them. By the way, in case you forgot, wasn't Nigeria's first coup plotter Ibo (Aguiyi Ironsi)? what of the legendarily corrupt Chuba Okadigbo? This guy while senate president didn't try to do a darn thing to remove the immunity clause from the constitution and here you are like everybody else blaming everybody. Also, the oil that you are clamoring for belongs to the niger delta region and not the easterners (ibos) so what makes you think that they would secede with you guys. What do you mean by "we" or "us"?? You and i were definitely not born when according to you the "awusas" and the yorubas were trying to exterminate you people. By the way, if you guys know how to make things happen, how come the ibo states are still extremely impoverished? ehn, why are your so called Ibo govs. (the kalus, ngiges, nnamani's) still ripping you off and embezzling millions of dollars that should be going to your schools. Why are they not issuing bonds (oh i forgot, you don't even know what it means) to build roads, bridges (that includes the river niger bridge), power plants and other infrastructure, yet they are asking the fed. govt for budget allocation each year. I thought you people are sooooooo rich and better than everyone else then why don't you go and secede then and stop blaming the "awusas", yorubas and everyone else. Nonsense. |
ha ha, kai, na wa o i tire for this country. |
what question? |
jimoh sounds like a fool. but his mentalit represents what is parroted in the nigerian media all the time, about debt being a bad thing. so i guess bill gates owes no one money. idiot@obong Some debt is bad just as long as you don't take too much that's why the US is in a mess right now. By the way, Microsoft has NO debt. |
@poster bring it, i would keep it for you. |
@quotasystem In case you didn't know, secession is not and has never being the answer. Just look at Bangladesh and Pakistan who split from India, are they all not incredibly poverty stricken. Heck, even the former soviet republics like the Tajikistans, Turkmenistans, Lithuania's, Bulgaria's and all the other "stans" or "ia's", are they still not poor? But trust Nigerians, when something bad happens, everybody starts pointing fingers from left to right to everyone except themselves. The yorubas blame the hausas, the hausas blame the ibos, while the ibos just blame everybody else (as if they were not the first ones who launched Nigeria's first coup destroying the once bright future of the country). Look at America that fought a civil war just to prevent secession, now look where they are today, the most powerful nation the world has ever seen. So instead of blaming everyone else why can't you sit down and see how you can make a difference in your enviroment. Remember this saying "there are some people who watch things happen and there are some people who make things happen" now the question is who are you? are you the type to sit on your backside all day long having pity on yourself and complaining how everybody else has wronged you based on hand me down stories from your parents or uncles who supposedly lived during "the war" or how your people have suffered more than everybody else, or maybe you are the type that picks himself up by the bootstrap and gets to work and no matter what the situation is, still keeps fighting against the odds. If you are not, then keep promoting your ethnocentrism. |
dumbest movie ever made. |
The problem is that my parents will not support me marrying a foreigner, it has to be a nigerian girl.@poster Look, you are not marrying YOUR PARENTS. You are marrying someone you love, at the end of the day they are going to die and your happiness is what matters the most. This is almost the equivalent of a forced marriage. This is where you have to man up son and step to your parents. The bible says that "for this reason a man shall leave his mother and father and cling to his wife and they shall become one flesh. I would love to marry a naija girl but am not attracted to anyone of them here. |
Is California not a Republican State@A-40 NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO O, California is not a republican state but a fuuuuuull blown liberal state. Because they have a republican gov. does not make it republican. |
The people in that picture don't look Nigerian in any way. Nigerians pride themselves on their appearance at social events, and I don't know of any graduation ceremony in Nigeria where the students will turn up in that kind of outfit. Wearing slippers and looking unkempt. For you and others to believe that photo is Nigerian, shows how out of touch a lot of people are, about the country.@tpia Can somebody pleeeeease tell me how Nigerians look? I lived in several places in naija and maybe its you who is out of touch with the common man. Let me guess you lived in a very rich suburb in naija, in a mansion with walls as high as the walls of Jericho. In case, you didn't know that's how the average Nigerian looks like (yes, the one that the world banks says is among the 70% living on less than a dollar a day). |
Chinwe and Ebele Obiohadeepzone why are you trying to fool us by naming 2 oyinbo girls igbo names? |
the answer is sooooooooooooooooooooooooooo simple, education, education, education, geez. ![]() |
North can never catch up with SouthOh yes they can, through education, education, education. |
On a positive note for Palin, however, her election shut-out and resounding loss should at least bestow her with that mandatory 15 minutes of fleeting fame that she can subsequently parlay into a few months of steady income doing the late-night TV talk-show circuit for the amusement of bored insomniacs coast to coast.Trust me, even if they lose this coming elections. The future is bright for conservatives. There are a lot of young conservative govs. in the future including Bobby Jindal (Louisiana) and even Sarah Palin. If she loses the election, she would go back home and having garnered experience she could come back and make a stronger bid in 4 years from now. Like i said, you have noooooooo idea, how much of a favorable impression she has left upon us. She is able to galvanize the christian right in an unbelievable way its not even funny. |
rubypearl what is the name of the Ghanaian girl in pink that you posted? she is soooooooooooooooooooooooooooo incredibly hot hot hot. |
