datola:Some people usually don't know the God they pray to. They think he is a genie who just grants then there wishes (whether good or bad) no matter how hard they pray? They don't know God is his own person and will not be biased around and that he would answer prayers according to his plans (will). It's like some while back I over heard someone praying that God should inflict pain and hurt on her husband for what she did to her. It was one of the most stunning things I've heard. Its like some of this people don't know that God is love not a petty God who uses his power to help you influence your evil desires on people you don't like. Have you forgotten that God also does for those people and that he has his own plans for them also? |
sexybbstar:Good for you! Now ask yourself why you want to do it in the first place? What is your motive? Are you trying to serve your fellow men or are you just trying to make a name for yourself? Cos the difference between both is huge. If you are going into serve your fellow man and your intentions are altruistic then good for you. If you are doing it just because of the prestige then it's going to be easier for you to be bought or influenced after all you would do almost anything to retain your seat or to get a better one. If you have decided on your motive for doing this, then you now have to ask yourself how am I preparing myself for this career? Are you pursuing a master's or Ph.D in public administration or public policy? Are you reading books and if you are how many books in economic development or politics? Do you have any executive or management level experience in an organization? What of philosophy? What are your guiding principles? Are you a liberal or a conservative? This are things one needs to reflect on before embarking on a career in politics because anyone can criticize when they are outside of govt it's when they get to office we now know what and what they can't do because passion and dedication is not the same thing as know-how. So start getting prepared or else you could end up like the guys you replaced. Best of luck. Tomorrow belongs to those who prepare today. - Malcolm X |
Shortyy:Hahaha |
divineshare:He be like say Nigerian journalists are not thought how to summarize. How many people do they think are going to have time to read stuff like this? Reading Nigerian papers can be a challenge at times. So much unnecessary information and pointless interviews from different kind of folks. To make matters worse, the writing style can be too pretentious at times. They seem to be written by journalists trying to show off the latest big grammar they learnt from the dictionary. This usually ensures that there is not always 'flow' in the pieces being written. If they cut out all the fluff, the pointless articles, tge unconfirmed reports and the Q&A's from every politician who has served Nigeria from the first republic till now maybe the average daily newspaper would only be 7 pages long (excluding the advertisements of course). |
tens4real:She is probably a journalist for the BBC reporting in Nigeria. On a different note, I usually feel sorry for those western journalists who get the unfortunate draw to be sent to this less advanced regions of the world to report. I am sure some of them would rather prefer to be sent to report from America as supposed to some backwater in the middle of nowhere. Part of me thinks that the way they threaten there employees at work is to threaten them. "Look here mate, if you disrespect me again you will soon be reporting from Africa" ![]() I guess thats why some of this postings are given to young or single journalists or the ones that love adventure. |
NextGovernor:Not only that. The local govt can seize it and publicly auction it to the highest bidder. |
unclezuma:Bros, this post needs to be reposted several times. |
IamAirforce1:Imitates igbos?? Cultures round the world do this. Some native Indian tribes in South America do this. They pour it our for the gods. This is prominent among people who worship mother earth. |
smartmey61:She is actually based in London o. |
erico2k2:Actually she is based in the UK. |
CarolineOlawale:Aww, jealous much? |
lefulefu:Inferiority complex and papers my brother. |
smartmey61: ![]() My brother, the inferiority complex is real. |
Ngokafor:A lot of Nigerians who have not left there country before no know say some whites are not attracted to blacks. Especially Africans. |
seangy4konji:And you know this how? |
NabeelAbu:And so? If she was not with him will she even consider you? Abeg leave the thing jare. |
acc001:Please tell me what's good about bleaching? |
amanze15:Yes now. Did you not know how there country went through a brutal civil war that has gone on for close to three decades? So many of them fled there home land and some have yet to return. |
NaWetinDey:And this is one of the most foundational reasons why Nigeria is poor and why you have the uprisings in the Niger Delta. It's because Nigerians don't fully grasp the concept of property rights. This is the building block of what created the wealthy countries. The fact that my land is my own and not the govts. If Nigeria cannot get this right, no matter the policies you pass at the federal level there would still be massive inequality in the country and unrest. The govt should have no right to take what belongs to an individual. If I own land them i own the resources on it and I can exploit it when I want. It's called property rights. |
RaptorX:Preach it sir. |
unclezuma:Dude! I don't think I will ever forget that your legendary quote some weeks back when a Naija boy married an oyinbo grandma. It was epic. |
BiggyB242:From what I know you get allocations based on the number of LGA's that you have. What I am trying to say is that allocation is the main driver of waste and corruption in this country. If this state's entire revenue were solely from income taxes I bet the money to steal would be smaller and that there would be less money for unnecessary positions in govt. |
BiggyB242:What else were you expecting when you are propping up state's via allocation? If There was no allocation majority of this state's would not exist. In fact Nigeria would probably only have 4 regions and those state's would be forced to spend there money judiciously instead of wasting it on an expansive bureaucracy. |
TippyTop:And what's wrong with her winning if she is the best person for the position? |
lightblazingnow:What is wrong with Nigerian politicians? Why can't they simply just learn the words "No Comment". Abi must they respond to everything? Geez, Mr. Governor what do you feel about the sun coming up this morning? Well the sun is out because of Buhari and APC. Goodness gracious, it's as if this politicians never saw a microphone they didn't like. Keep your opinions to yourselves. No wonder Nigerian newspapers are difficult to read, there is just soooooo many pointless articles from so many different people. If we cut out all the fluff and the noise there should only be 6 pages on the newspapers. |
Deem:What else can you expect when someone is handing you free money? Or do you think any of this state's in this country could afford a bloated bureaucracy if they didn't get allocation from the fed govt? And they wonder why Nigeria is not prosperous. |
breadplanets:It's not a taboo, it's just absurd. It's like frying bread or Pizza instead of baking it in an oven. It's not forbidden because in your own kitchen you set your rules but it's real weird. |
NaWetinDey:I am saying that if I own land, I own all the resources in that land and the govt has no right to claim it. This is how advanced democracies work and rich economies operate. Anything else is theft or a dictatorship. |
FunspoT:And who deems it illegal? |
erico2k2:Wrong, Wrong, wrong! This is the most fundamental reason Nigeria is poor. They just don't understand that the most foundational building block of every successful capitalist society is property rights. That the govt has no right to any individuals property. This is one of the most significant differences between wealthy nations and poor nations. |
NaWetinDey:Govt has no right to take anyone's private property? I believe it's called theft. |
nwabobo:That's how things are supposed to be. The govt should have no right to take what belongs to an individual. If I own land them i own the resources on it and I can exploit it when I want. It's called property rights. |
