WHAT DOES AN URBAN PLANNER DO?
Urban planners typically do the following:

Assess the feasibility of proposals and identify needed changes

Urban planners identify community needs and develop short- and long-term plans to create, grow, or revitalize a community or area. For example, they may examine plans for proposed facilities, such as schools, to ensure that these facilities will meet the needs of a changing population. As an area grows or changes, planners help communities manage the related economic, social, and environmental issues, such as planning a new park, sheltering the homeless, or making the region more attractive to businesses.
Some planners work on broad, community-wide plans, while others focus on specific issues. Ultimately, all planners promote the best use of a community’s land and resources for residential, commercial, or recreational purposes.
When beginning a project, planners work with public officials, community members, and other groups to identify community issues or goals. Using research, data analysis, and collaboration with interest groups, planners formulate strategies to address issues or meet goals. They also may help carry out community plans, oversee projects, and organize the work of the groups involved. Projects may range from a policy recommendation for a specific initiative to a long-term, comprehensive area plan.
Planners use a variety of tools and technology in their work, including geographic information systems (GIS) tools that analyze and manipulate data. GIS is used to integrate the data with electronic maps. For example, planners may use GIS to overlay a land map with population density indicators. They also use statistical software, visualization and presentation programs, financial spreadsheets, and other database and software programs.
WHAT IS THE WORKPLACE OF AN URBAN PLANNER LIKE?
Most planners work for various levels of government, nonprofits, and planning consulting firms. They work throughout the country in all sizes of municipality, but most work in large metropolitan areas.
Most planners spend much of their time working with others. They often collaborate with public officials, engineers, architects, and developers, and must give presentations, attend meetings, and manage projects.
Because planners must balance conflicting interests and negotiate deals, the work can be stressful. Planners face pressure from politicians, developers, and the public to design or recommend specific plans. They also sometimes work against tight deadlines. Urban planners often travel to sites to inspect the features of the land. Those involved in inspecting development sites may spend much of their time in the field. Most planners work during normal business hours, but many also work evenings or weekends to attend meetings with planning commissions or neighborhood groups.

Who is an urban planner? Well an urban planner is someone we desperately need in Nigeria.

I do not mean to derail this thread but these got my attention more than the real issue being discussed . Does this mean even a Senior Special Assistant to the president also has a media aide (being paid from the nation's treasury)? Remember that there are still other Special assistants doing the same job and this probably applies to all other SSAs. Where then is the reduction in government spending that he APC promised us? We know these offices are not part of the civil service, but only a political appointment. This doesn't sound well at all. What the hell does an SSA have to say that he/she should be too busy to relay by herself/himself that would now require the employment of a media aide.

I will submit by saying however that maybe it is not a bad idea to have a media aide for such offices, but I will suggest that the office holders should be made to pay the aides from whatever they are paid as their salaries. That will now show whether or not they really need the aides.

There are very few people in power who are gifted administrators so don't blame them when they don't know how to streamline an organization. If you tell them to draw an organizational chart now with the different positions and responsibilities I doubt that most of them can do it.

You don't have to be a terrorist to be affected. It's hard for almost everyone this days. The other day I read about an Argentian who is a legal resident in New York and has been here for 10 years. The man went to Buenos Aires for vacation then came back to the U.S only to be detained for close to 14 hours with no access to phone or to even contact his lawyer. After everything, the man was deported back to Argentina. This despite the fact that he is a popular artist in New York. This is how things are right now.

First of all, I have never dated two people at the same time at least not to my own knowledge because I know that would be wrong and unfair for both parties. Oh and it would also be termed as cheating.

I know this based on the third picture (the baby is not even in focus in that picture in the first place). She could have just posted the first two or simply made her baby thr main focus of the pictures but nope, she just hcouldntad to make it about herself. Hopefully the courts strike it down again. From what I heard from a Houston based lawyer on the radio, the ban will make it hard for students from this country to go back home for the holidays and renew their visas.
To make it worse, the ban might be renewed because one of the reasons stated for the ban is that this countries don't have stable govts. Well guess What? They are not going to have a stable govt in the next 90 days. There is a reason they are fleeing there countries in tge first place.

I don't know why this always happens to me. It's either I'm single with no one saying hi or I have to choose between two people who want me at the same time. It's never in-between.

I met this guy who's just a year older than me (he's 29). He's a nice person with a really good heart but I have a little problem with the fact he's a bit immature. He's always on social media posting very irrelevant stuff, plays mind games with me, not always sure about his decisions and sees nothing wrong with breaking promises. And each time I complain, he thinks I'm overreacting. And even when he apologizes, he goes back to the same thing after a few days. But even with his flaws he has his great sides too. I was really skeptical at first dating someone within my age range because I know the maturity level always differs but I decided to give it a chance and not just assume things, afterall no one is perfect, not even myself. I really do like him but his behaviors gives me concerns. The last time we had a heated argument and I tried breaking up with him, he got really sick and hypertensive and had to take days off work to see a doctor. I had to make up with him. He specifically said he doesn't know if he'd survive if I ever left him.

Now my big sister introduced me to her friend's brother who is way older than I am (he's 40). He's very mature and patient, goes straight to the point, doesn't play any games. He pretty much knows what he wants. We've only spoken a couple of weeks and talked about variety of topics concerning life, family, work, dreams and aspirations etc and trust me nothing beats having a partner you're intellectually in sync with. And although things are not defined yet, you could easily tell where this is going.

The both men have absolutely nothing against me having a son (whose father died few months to our wedding four years ago). The younger guy particularly likes my boy a lot. Never goes a day without asking about him, bought him a game for his birthday and is currently asking what he wants for Christmas. The both men have also introduced me to their parents. I spoke with the younger guy's mum on the phone. The older one took me to his family home and I received a really warm welcome from them. None of us live in the same country but my job takes me around the world and I get to see them whenever I travel to the country they live.

Now this has nothing to do with money or even age but everything to do with me making the right decision and having peace of mind at the end of the day.

Bottom line is I like the younger guy and feel more attached to him and can tell he wants this to work out. He's always talking about having a road trip someday as a family with "our twins" and my son, but it's emotionally draining being with a "man-child" and don't know how long I can wait for him to realize that certain behaviors should be left for teenage boys. If I complain tomorrow, the usual tagline would be "did you not see all those behavior but you stayed thinking he'd change?". At a crossroad now and need a tough-love kinda advice but please don't roast me.

Actually, it was not a March sponsored by Viagra. It's a March to commemorate Martin Luther King's 1965 March from Selma to Montgomery to protest for civil rights. That's why there are so many Americans there. Obama did the same last year. I guess a few Viagra people just joined the protest and took pictures to make it look like they organized it.

Bros, I go naija last year. Come see ridiculous inefficiency for airport nah. It was just amusing to watch.

You had multiple security personnel wearing different uniforms all milling about in the airport and I remember thinking to myself why so many? Why can one security agency not work?

As if that was not bad enough, when we were going back that was even worse. There probably was 5 checkpoints before getting to your departure area. It was worse than ridiculous.
