Do you agree that your mothers are prostitutes in Italy today?

Do you agree that Ife birthed your kingship?

Do you agree that Yoruba was the language of Benin kingdom until Ewuare stopped it?

If you guys are telling the truth why is it that all the writings on the Yoruba pantheon of gods (ogun, oya, oshun, sango etc) come from yorubas?

Were are your writings about these gods?

Why did Ifa divination system come from yorubas?

Is it not obvious that you are an idiot?
Do you know that your own mother cheated on your useless father? Idiot child of a witch mother and armed robber father..

And oyo controlled all of 10,000 km2 of Dahomey not some which is not small and were free due to the fall of oyo just like egba and others took advantage of the fall. Dahomey Amazon are another infantry of Dahomey not the whole infantry there were many male warriors the women were just popular coz they were women and vicious. Yoruba see your history!!

Before the advent of missionaries and the British colonial masters to what is now Nigeria, the language spoken by the people of the south-west today identified as the Yorubas was called ANAGO. But the Hausa/Fulanis to the north of old Oyo empire called them by a derogative nick name YABA YABA/YOBA.
Therefore when the Hausa's refers to the Anago speakers of Old Oyo, they called them by that name. Sometimes it is pronounced "youba. " When the missionaties started pouring into the south-west after the abolition of slavery, they met a territory in the throes of civil wars. Old Oyo had fallen to the Hausa/Fulanis, thanks to Afonja. Ibadan was trying to enslave all the other ANAGO-speaking people. There was the the Ijaye war and the Kiriji war. It was only the Benin army that stood between Ibadan and Ile-Ife.

The missionaries, most of who were freed yoruba slaves-Bishop Ajayi Crowther was one of them, started looking for away to unite the warring Anago clans.
They also wanted to preach the GOSPEL OF CHRIST TO THE GRASS ROOT. On the other hand the British colonial administrators wanted a peaceful territory to rule over and an educated elite to work in their civil service. The missionaries therefore adopted OYO VERSION of ANAGO, which the Hausa/Fulanis have given yaba/yoba/youba as the name of the general language of the Anago-speaking group. Bishop Ajayi Crowther published the first dictionary of ANAGO as Yoruba language. Oyo became the CMS academic headquarters. It the saw the birth of St Andrew's college, Oyo which actually started as trade school in the 1800's. And gradually, very gradually the word YORUBA displaced ANAGO.
The people of the south-west today are bearing the nick-name given to them by the Hausa/Fulanis.

Just imaging the incoherent you wrote again? Do you not know, in standard English, you can't infer in this manner when refering to tribe's citizen, as, “Edo person"?What's “Edo person"? But Edo descendant/Edo citizen. Oviedo strictly mean a descendant of Edo .And Oviedo doesn't necessarily mean “a child of Edo" in a literary form you try to inform us about it but man/woman of Edo ancestry grin. Laugh wan kill me here......This same goes for the term, “Omo Yoruba" as Yoruba descendant and also used to refer to a child. Yoruba owns the word “omo"(child) . For example; omo pupa( light skin child),omodè(young child) omo ikòkò(baby), omomí( my child) etc. And this just showed you borrowed the word from Yoruba land. So also Itsé that Edo borrowed ,which is pronounce as asé. In fact, Edos do not know the efficacy of âsé with its deep spiritual undertone.Yes, I know Edos have many confusioning words, which is the reason, the language is going to extinction. Enjoy the bitter truth.
So Yoruba don’t have a single word to describe all those you just mentioned. Rather u mix two words together to describe it. It goes to show u borrowed the word Omo from Edo.
It is easy to understand how you got those words.. Benin kingdom once ruled over the Yorubas that’s how u got the words.

Even with the fraud quote u plan on passing it still buttress my point that ekiti was never controlled by any Benin. Benin only engage them in war. They still maintained their own autonomy seeing as how ado fought war with not only Benin twice in 1500 and 1815 but also Ibadan Too during the kriji war like ur quote without source shows
It wasn't only Ekiti that was under Benin. Ondo, Osun, and all Eastern Yoruba states were under Great Benin Kingdom

Another piece copied from the research work of a Yoruba Scholar:

"Every town or village under him (Ewi) except Ijan were prepared to fight…The Benin soldiers stormed Igbara-Odo and Ilawe and took them. At this time, Ado town had been vacated. Aroloye took the people to a place called Oke Oko Axis between Ifaki and Iworoko. Most of the gods Ado worshipped on that side: Olua at Eyio, Obanifon at Esure and Are, Ogbese and Orisala at Iworoko. The soldiers pitched their camps near Uyin (Iyin)…Ogbesi Okun, the then Oluyin …was conquered and killed. They proceeded to Igede, Awo and Esure and took them. The inhabitants of Igede then uder Okiribiti were driven in a north-easternly direction to a place called Oke Asha…Edo troops then marched to Iworoko…The soldiers entered Are…The same fate befell Afao. They were all taken to Ikere. The soldiers moved to Igbemo …entered Igbo-Omoba (now Ilu-Omoba)…The soldiers left Aisegba for Agbado and without delay took it and evacuated the people. Agbado was the last place under the Ewi. With the conquest, of Agbado, the soldiers seemed to have finished their job…

‘Ewi Idagunmodo (1696-1710), Ewi Okinbaloye Aritawekun (1710-1722), Ewi Amono Ola (1722-1762), Ewi Afunbiowo (1762-1781), Ewi Akulojuorun (1781-1808), Ewi Aroloye (1808-1836) who reigned at Ado but were attacked successively by Benin hordes…‘During the reign of Ewi Aroloye, Ado-Ewi’s kingdom witnessed massive dislocation across the terrain as town dwellers and villagers ran for safety in different directions. Many of the captives from Iworoko, Are, Afao, Ugboomoba (now Ilumoba) and Agbado were taken to Ukere by Benin invaders

…the rapid expansion of Ado brought it into conflict with Benin, another power with imperialistic designs in Ekiti. Responding to the invitation by Ado’s neighbouring states who had become unduly alarmed by the consolidation and excesses of the Ewi’s power, Benin army invaded and subjugated Ado in addition to overrunning most of the other Ekiti states some of whose ruling dynasties, as in Ikere, were replaced…’’"’

Moneywomen, why don;t you go research if Benin conquered and ruled Eastern Yoruba states or if Benin armies fought in the kriji war. Since you can post on nairaland I assume you can also do some research on the matter instead of just shouting on here. Or are you scared to research and find out I have been telling you the truth?

anyways below is some piece I found when researching those topics. Some of them was done by intelligent Yoruba scholars.

"‘No part of Ekiti was spared the agony of imperialist invasions…The rampaging Benin armies sacked Ogotun, Aramoko, some subordinate communities of Ijero, Ado communities such as Are, Afao, Ugbo (now Ilu) Omoba and Agbado and settled a large percentage of the haul of captives therefrom in Ikere, their garrison post.
It is obvious from various studies that the Yoruba internecine wars between 18th and 19th centuries did not help but heightened diplomacy with foreign powerful states by weaker neighbouring states. For instance, Benin armies constantly waged wars of external aggressions on Ekitiland and other communities in different parts of old Ondo State in their quest for territorial expansion and control, among others. A good reference point is the Ado-Ikere relations that resulted to Benin pillage and attacks on Ado-Ekiti on several occasion. Olomola (1984:2-3) noted that Benin armies invaded parts of Ado kingdom a few times between 1500 and 1815, though its military prowess spared Ado-Ekiti the rigours of devastation due to evidence of its kinship with Ado-Ekiti. Benin was only interested in clipping Ado’s wings by either sacking Ado communities or causing a dispersal or dislocation and forced evacuation and migration of human settlements from Ado-Ekiti to other locations. Olomola further asserted that the Ewi actually devise a strategy of evacuating his capital city so that the Benin armies would not disturb the Ewi and the rest of his people in their new site. Whatever has persistently made Benin to assail Ado-Ekiti, it was evident that the human settlement was frequently unsettled or dislocated by wars and invasion. Olomola (1984:10) noted further that Ado-Ekiti landscape was turbulent and often disorganized or reinvented when he asserted thus:

‘"Ado suffered military reverses and lost considerable number of its people during the Benin and Ibadan invasions …For instance, Odo which was, before the Benin invasion a town of considerable size, broke up as the people sought the safety of rocky and forest recesses and Uyin and Igede lost part of their population in their fight against Benin in 1815 and Ibadan in 1873. Above all, Ado communities were denuded of their population and those the Benin carried away were placed in Ikere subsequent upon which its population swelled up. Ibadan armies made a huge haul of captives, running to several thousands – of Ado men, women and chief…Ado (was) more than compensated for its human loses in its wars especially in parts of Owo and Akoko from where Ado made huge hauls of captives."’

so you see moneywomen; Benin Kingdom was in control of many Yoruba states.

Well good u know Oyo was conquered and ruled 100yrs by foreign invaders. 100yrs is a very long time.
Throughout Benin history from when it started as a small city state and throughout its existence nobody, no tribe could defeat it in battle or rule it.

Yoruba borrowed the word that’s why you don’t have a definite word for it rather u mix words together to describe it. Kekere is little and Omo is child so u mix them together omokekere.
In english there is baby, child, kid.

In Edo little means kere but we don’t say omokere to describe little child. We have a word for little child.

Bitter truth is what I just handed down to you!
If it’s true you are actually descendant of Oduduwa/Izoduwa/Ekhaladeran then I can authoritatively tell you that you are an Edo man. An Edo man that is lost and roaming in Yorubalands. You should come to Benin let’s take you through the spiritual and cleansing rites.

On the other hand what is this your craze about Oviedo and Omo Edo for?
In Edo language we have different words for baby, child, kid, children.. maybe yorubas use just one word for all of them.

Omo is Edo word and it means child.
Oviedo means Edo person.
Ibieka means children
Ovokhan means young child/kid
Omomo means baby

Oviedo is a phrase not a word. If u remove the Edo, Oviee is still a phrase not a word. It means his child, or her child or someone’s child.

The Edo language is unique that’s why it’s difficult to learn easily unlike Yoruba that is a collection of borrowed words..

I’m educating you on these because you said you are an Edo man. A lost one.

Me I’m just trying to show Benin kingdom’s greatness, It’s might and reach and also the advancement and civilization of ancient Edo people. I’m relying on evidence in the not too distant past to prove this.

Igodomigodo changed to Edo.
Questions you should ask is if before the Europeans documented the Kingdom as Benin Kingdom did the Edo people call land benin/ile ibinu as Oranmiyan called the land? or they called themselves a different name?
It was you Yorubas that refered to it as Ile Ibinu.

Heads of dead Obas were not buried in Ife

The Ogiso system of rule is different from Oba system of rule. Its like Nigeria changing from head of state to president. or from prime minister to president. they all have different functions and powers.

Please what is it about horses? does horses represent civilization to you? Can horses survive in rain forests?

Guy, na una start the fight

I never hear you say one positive thing about oyo. But I did about benin

I personally believe we do not have to be friends or brothers to respect eachother

Ooni and alaafin should consolidate our nation in the west, that is, all yoruba speaking peoples in yoruba territory, including present day republic of benin, (the people of sabe, popo)

You should also go and consolidate your empire. Edo, delta, cross river and all your peoples in the south south

I think it will be a beautiful thing if benin can rise to its ancient prominence and influence (pre-colonial)
Guy we didnt start any fight. We only stated the obvious about Oduduwa and the reach of Benin Empire but your brothers took an offence at it. The only reason they will do that is because they consider Benin and south south to be minority tribes hence to them its a shame that a minority tribe will once rule over your majority tribe.
I dont see Yoruba denying Nupe invasion and conquest of Yoruba, or Fulani conquests of Yorubas. Fulani even gave you kings yet you do not deny that but you deny Benin gave you Oduduwa.

Oranmiyan came from Ife we agree but we also say he was the son of a Benin man (Oduduwa) but in my opinion I will still call him Yoruba because he was born there to a Yoruba woman and grew there. Even at that the Oranmiyan blood as been washed out of this present Oba. A thousand years is enough time to wash off any Yoruba blood in our Oba.

The British Royal family has German blood in them but you dont hear Germany calling the British monarchy german.

Oyo was renowned for its large cavalry.

You are one damn fine researcher man.
Only a fool (not insulting you) will dwell in and celebrate myths and fables.. A wise man will look at actual documents written by historians and explorers.. Those are what is considered as evidence when looking into details.
Someone like you will actually believe Oduduwa cane down from the sky on chains.

Do you think the British that wrote that article believes their own myths about Zeus and Mount Olympus?

u said Benin fought in the kriji list just one or u Ogun destroy u and ur family. What u listed above was the people u said fought vs akure in ur imiginary mind not the ones who fought the kriji war like u claim. List one bini warrior in the kriji war
My friend instead of throwing insults because I'm giving you the bitter truth, just try to do your own research about the Kriji wars. You will find that Benin army actually fought alongside Ekiti warriors, giving them assistance and logistics.
Everything about Benin Kingdom, its campaigns, expansion, its exploits are all documented and witnessed unlike the Yorubas that is only in myths and fables.

Benin wasn't only great 1000yrs ago 500yrs ago or great in myths and fables.. Benin was great up till late 19th century, just about when modern age began.

there was nothin like the same people in the past each people consider themselves different then base on community not like Benin who consider themselves the same and still sell themselves
and just like the Yorubas who still indulge in human sacrifices till tomorrow. kidnapping people and innocent children to use for sacrifice.
