Does Tinubu want to be a leader or does he want to just another man?

Tinubu has done well for himself. He lives in a big house, has many cars, carries a lot of political weight. Did he get there by being fair and just? He certainly didn't; don't kid yourself.

The choices are simple; be a leader and the bigger man and he will win more to his side or go after those who malign his name and lose some support.

In all honesty, this can end in a number of ways

1. Tinubu can't defeat the Awo family (as in make them irrelevant) even though he has the political authority but they have the name AWOLOWO which will always be reverred

2. Don't be deceived, Afenifere still wields a lot of power. They can rally round another Yoruba person; they wont have to look too far. Fashola is already there and will complete his term in 2015. Fashola can move to PDP or Labour. His enemies (the awoists and Obj) can rally round fashola and ask him to jump ship. If that happens, many in ACN will go with him. Don't forget that not everyone in ACN is happy with Tinubu. So the SW may not lose in the respect of falling back into bad hands but Tinubu himself may lose.

3. Tinubu will crush all his enemies. This is very unlikely because power constantly changes in the SW. That is the nature of Yoruba people; they never want anyone to be too powerful. Many will be thinking that it will be dangerous for Tinubu to come out on top against Awo's wife for obvious reasons.

Tinubu MUST do damage control otherwise, many will work against him. Afterall, for Tinubu to gain power, OBJ had to lose it. OBJ in his old age will be hurting from the way Tinubu dealt with him. Whats to stop OBJ from trying to do the right thing now that he is going senile? Again, lets exercise caution on this issue.

I am just thinking out loud; I am not saying this is what will happen. Afterall, PDP will be strategising.

That name is sounding like a damn monkey on our backs, it has zero relevance beyond history. We are going to have greater leaders and we are going to build on and advance way better than we did under Awo.

You complain when you're losing, you complain when you're winning. Obviously, all these silly attacks and spites against Tinubu serves only one purpose which is to take him down and drag us back, I think Yoruba people need to rally around Tinubu and not leave him exposed to outside forces trying to reverse our gains and advancement. We've sacrificed too many Yoruba leaders because of silly and petty rivalries and shortsightedness jealousy.

There is something that is lost on you. The Tribune and Awo family have nothing to lose in all this. It is Tinubu that is getting into a roforofo fight that he doesn't need. If Tinubu and his supporters keep replying in kind, Tinubu will be dragged down. And just like in the 60s, the vultures are circling, waiting to pick on pieces.

Both of you alone can not ensure that the ACN continues to win in the SW and in Nigeria in general. This extremist attitude will only serve to alienate others. You can't win elections by burning bridges. If you want ACN to go from strenght to strenght, then polarising arguments are not the way.

In the current dispensation, I am with Tinubu even though I am an Awoist but I suspect that ACN may lose the support of some Awoists. And when people are not with you, they are usually WORKING against you.

I have never gotten involved in the who did what to whom first. I have also never held brief for the Awolowo family. Their situation I feel is too complex for simple analysis. I have only concerned myself with the merit of the case for or against Bola Tinubu.

If I have any sympathy for the Awolowos at all it would boil down to the age of HID and the complex burden (advantages too) it must be to bear that legacy.
