Mankind2024:
The Breweries present a falling knife phenomenon.
What does it mean to ‘catch a falling knife’ in trading?

There’s a saying on the trading floor in Chicago and I’m sure it was on other trading floors: “Don’t add to a loser”. That was always considered completely taboo.

You’ll also hear it called: “Catching a falling knife” in some circles. I know people who are constantly averaging down to better prices in stocks and commodities.

Some commodities are down 44% on the year and continue to fall and some people are saying: well, ‘X’ commodity is constantly in deficit, so I’ll average down to a better price.” They’re catching a falling knife and if you can visualize that, it’s not a good thing to do.

Not many people know this, but when a stock or an asset or a commodity makes a low, it’s more likely to make another low, statistically, than for it to stop at that point and turn around.
In my own strategy, I neither average up nor down. Averaging up and down is, to me, a form of falling in love with a stock and that is very dangerous. All I do is just buy as many liquid and at least fundamentally or sentimentally sound stocks which in offers are drying up and bids mounting at prices above the previous closing day's, then take a seat and watch them. No matter what 7 out of ten of them will reverse upwards in at most 4 trading days.

The Dollar team are not happy because they have come to the end of the road. How long they can wait when they realise they may make no further shishi from thr dollars unless it is just for safe keeping. The are cut in btw still keeping it or converting to invest in naira asset or wait till end of year when it will be clearer Then again they could lose in down ward of dollars by yr end as all finger points in that direction ...God is faithful na one moniker like that.i hope some no buy above #1600 /dollar

Thank God we dey the first category

I wan convert my small dollars for my dom account of many yrs from gt gdr to buy Transcorp power below #350 when the time comes .I no buy the dollars

nku5:
Ademoyega in his book confirmed that the coup was supposed to take place later in the year but he found out from H.O. Davies that Sardauna, Balewa and Akintola were planning a very bloody crackdown on the Western Region and the Middle Belt. They then rushed their plans and staged it on January 15
If the crackdown on the Middle Belt and West had a jihad objective at the base of it as has been alleged by Ben Gbulie and Ademoyega, would Akintola, a Christian having Samuel as his baptismal name, have agreed to work with Balewa and Ahmadu Bello as said in the bolded?
PoliticsRe: Nigerians, Can We Please Listen To The Igbos? by Deadlytruth(m): 7:04pm On Mar 11, 2024
OreMI22:
It is not as if northerners or other Nigerians did not know what the Igbos knew about those men. It's just that based on the current structure of Nigeria, NOBODY CARES ABOUT THE COUNTRY.

If we had Arewa region, a grossly incompetent fellow like Buhari would never have been allowed in governance. There are too many eminently qualified northerners like Ahmed Datti that would not steal nor allow the people's resources to be stolen or wasted.

Likewise, if we had Odua Region, a shady character like Tinubu would never have been allowed to rule it. There are too many qualified and honest Yorubas that we would not allow the worst of us to rule us.

It is because of the structure of Nigeria that the worst people are allowed to rule "Nigeria". Since nobody really feels that Nigeria's misrule has consequence on the people's wellbeing and progress. The country MUST be restructured so that each region will find its best brains to rule and prosper the people.
Now having correctly identified structural defect as the hinderance to the emergence of competent people to power, and knowing fully well that the structural defect in question was not there in the beginning but later created by Igbos, isn't it therefore logical and correct to conclude that Igbos are at the root of this hinderance to the emergence of good leadership in Nigeria?

Christianity EtcRe: Can A Christian Still Be Under A Curse? by Deadlytruth(m): 12:06pm On Mar 10, 2024
ebubeson:
Can a Child of God who is born again still be under a curse?

A born again Christian who was cursed before may still be under a curse if he or she has not applied the blood of Jesus Christ in breaking such a curse.

Again, such person may still be under a curse if he or she has not restituted, apologized or confessed to the offended.

Example: if a born again Christian was formerly a thief in the neighbourhood, and had stolen from people to the point that they cried bitterly and issued curses on him or her, such curses may not break until the born again Christian does restitution to those he stole from before.
This is the greatest truth and the most common reason for which many so-called born again Christians' prayers for miraculous deliverance from spiritual affliction are not answered by God.
If anything, Jesus made it clear that whoever approaches the altar of God without having gone to make peace with those he offended will not be welcomed by God. Indeed God honours his words more than anything else hence would rather not answer the prayers of born again Christian who seeks His help while still shying away from making peace with those he has offended. Mathew on his own decided to make restitution because he knew it wouldn't make sense for him to keep enjoying the proceeds of robbery of the people while professing Jesus.
If God should answer the prayers of those who have pending personal issues with those they wronged, then He would no longer be the God of justice and fairness and Christianity will no longer appeal to the rational minds.

The thing Is now making me have double mind on ucap shares. Abi Tony don extend his cowboy move to that one.I noticed they follow for transcorp power dealings. I hope we no go see forex loss for the matter. My consolation is that it has been bouncing back once it goes below #20.
Once a company starts delaying results without a plausible excuse, that is a red flag for me and I exit without looking back. A child that got distinction in all his subjects doesn't wait for his parents to ask for his report card before he shows it to them.

On another news.Has the buy out for pz been cancelled. The price done touch #40. I thought the buy out was #20 plus
This is a very good example of buy out price not necessarily becoming a celling for a stock really set to rally. I therefore see same for IEI.

Once there is an official change in price the day high/low will change. And I noticed official price changes even when there is no single 100k deal as long as there is 100k cummulative trades at the same price.

I equally bought ar #5 then.Did you say eps of about #1 .00.How about the guys that wanted to buy out shareholders. Has it been cancelled. I can't not remember the offer but it was a big loss to me when I read it plus reconstruction
I escaped the reconstruction by whiskers as I had just sold of the remaining units in my portfolio before the reconstruction happened. The buy out was first talked about in 2022 and this is two years going. It is therefore either that it is no longer on the table or that the buy out price has to be reviewed given the improvement in fundamentals. Yes EPS is in N1 neighborhood and results for the last three quarters are consistently good.

What is your target price for iE.it is one of the school fees paid those years. I see in my portfolio that reconstruction reduced it like 5 times of what it was.i pray it continues like juli
While I can't put any target price to it, I am convinced that based on its OS of about just 1.2bn, FF of 170m and current EPS of almost 1.00, it will go really far. I agree that IEI took school fees from people back then but if you looked at it very well you can't miss the fact that it was one of the most promising insurance companies before the crash came in 2008. I remember buying at N5 only to painfully sell some at N1 when the meltdown came. However with the improving figures around it now, I have dived back into it at least to collect my school fees back.
