This particular Toyota model parts seem to be priced valuables to these car thieves. Few months ago my boss's newly acquired Toyota (similar model) was wrecked by some car thieves in his neighborhood . They made away with the brain box, taillights e.t c.

I guess it is because the car is in high demand cos of its fuel economy and it is the most common uber/taxify car U see around. So it's parts should be hot cake in the market.

Imagine this scenario and it happened real life so don't think it's some fairy tale.

Three men visited a car stand. They asked for the pricing of a 2013 Toyota camry and the seller told them the price (say 5 million naira).

They asked him for his account details and after 2 days, they transferred 3 million naira into his account.

Immediately after the transfer, they came to him and told him they are sorry but they couldn't complete the cash; so the car dealer should give them 2 million -five hundred thousand naira and keep the other five hundred thousand naira on it as fees for inconvenience on his part. The car dealer happily did that and was happy he got 500k as fees for doing almost nothing.

Fast forward to 3 days time, he had his car stand invaded by F-SARS and anti kidnapping squads. They asked if he was the owner of the account and Nabbed him immediately He admitted to ownership of the account; then it dawned in him what was really happening.

The guys were kidnappers and they used his account to recieve kidnap ransom making him culpable in the offence. He paid them cash with no trace and they made It look like the 500k was his own share of the loot! Now he is in very deep trouble but it could have been avoided.

That's it people, stay safe and be very careful. Don't go looking for quick cash or commissions without doing your DD. Let wisdom guide you always and don't be greedy!

I'd be grateful if mods could move this to FP so people can learn this latest format from the men of the under world.

Nice piece of info...though it's actually not a new phenomenon. However, lessons could be learnt from this.

1. Those saying he should have returned it to the sender are not being realistic because the sender's account number is not indicated on the alert or narration, so how does he do that without going to the bank.

2. Accepting the #500k for his troubles was too cheap a ploy to fall for. He should have been suspicious especially for not doing anything to warrant it.

3. Since it can come under any guise...never pay out cash in situations like this. By so doing, the trail terminates with you and you make yourself the final traceable destination for the proceeds of the crime. You don't wanna be that stupid.

4. We have had instances someone will be at the ATM and ask to transfer to your account to withdraw from it since his daily withdrawal limit is exceeded.

5. They have different formats. The rule is never to pay cash, once you transfer you keep up the trail and that atleast proves you are not the eventual beneficiary of the proceed. So the authorities can extend it to the account you send to.

6. The best rule is to report to your bank or don't touch the funds in your account. You can claim ignorance if the funds sit pretty in your account without you touching it...but instead of doing that you can as well report it to your bank and ensure you have an evidence incase the bank feels there's no erroneous posting from its end, but then don't touch it.

7. In summary...the most important lesson is not to terminate the trail by giving cash. Insist on sending to another account.

The lesson: If persons or a buyer sends u money and comes back for refund (especially immediately) full or partial u must send it back to same account only or else notify authorities about it just Incase. No cash or 3rd party account for refunds.

How do you know the sender's account to return it to. Is the sender's account available to you on the alert. There's no way he's knowing that till he gets to the bank to check. The only logical thing to do us to insist on transferring it to an account. That way the destination of the fund will be traceable.

1. In the seventh year that king Obasanjo reigned over the kingdom, a great trouble broke out in the land. For when his time was come nigh that he may descend from the throne that he called unto himself noble men in the land.

2. And he declared unto them saying: "Now that my days on the throne are few, allow me therefore to rule over thee for another four years".

3. And he gathered together of them that maketh laws in the Red Chamber in the city of the king, and even unto they in the Green Chamber, that they may amend the books of the law to favour him.

4. But this thing grieved Atiku the son of Abubakar who was the king's deputy. And he said unto his master, "howbeit seekest thou to rule over the people for another term? sweareth not thou by the name of thy god to set me upon the throne after thee?

5. Practice thou not this great evil against me and against the kingdom for it is written in the books of the law that a king may not reign but for two terms which equal eight years''. But these words changeth not the heart of the king.

And when the time was come for the appointment of the king that he defeated Atiku and was appointed and anointed king over the kingdom. And king Yaradua ruleth the kingdom with the fear of God. But his days as king was full of affliction.

10. And when king Yaradua gave up the ghost that Goodluck the son of Jonathan who siteth by his side as the deputy reigned after him. But when the time was come nigh that the son of Jonathan be appointed again that Atiku departed from the camp of the king's adversaries and entered into the king's camp that he may be appointed.

But Mohammed the son of Buhari was favoured among them that seeketh the throne from the camp of the APC for he swore unto the leaders of the camp saying, "Behold brethren, I am full of age and my eyes are becoming dim, suffer me to ascend unto the throne for I shall only reign for four years". And Buhari was anointed king over the kingdom.

21. And he said, "I shall arise and go back to PDP which is the camp of my youth. And I shall declare unto them, “I have sinned against thee and against God. Accept me this day that I may once again contend the throne in thy bosom”.

22. And on the twenty fourth day of the eleventh month of the year before a new king is appointed that Atiku the son of Abubakar departed from the camp of APC and joined the camp of his youth.

23. And there was great jubilation in the camp of PDP that day for they said, “Verily, the prodigal son returneth.

24. But they forgot that Aremu, the son of Obasanjo, who still sees himself as the King maker, will not approve of it.

The rate of promotion and salary increase on your current job.
Job security of the current job.
You are making a good move on starting your personal company but be sure of the conflict of interest with your current job.
The immigration rules over there (abroad)

The truth is with the inflation and the rate of devaluation of our naira...The 200k will amount to nothing in a few years. So you must be sure of augmenting it.

It's not always fair abroad too...but you need to look at the whole picture.

Report it to your bank. The recipient will be contacted via his bank if it's another bank. If he refuses. Then involve the authorities to secure a court order. Arbitration might be activated by the CBN especially if necessary. Indeed once the authorities are involved...The issue will be resolved amicably.
