Lol. Someone just told me about the rear light thing. I have no idea how that could have come about.

I got the car about two months ago. It's my first car, and I used it to learn how drive. My teachers decided I couldn't burn the clutch because I picked up clutch control pretty quickly. I don't stress the car, I only mostly drive to and from work... Ten minutes away from home.

I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. The clutch thing and rear light issue are the only problems right now. I recently fixed the disconnected vacuum pipe that a mechanic left open while fixing speakers in the door, so I'm not a total noob to the workings of a car.

Oh well... Guess I'll just get myself a new clutch plate tomorrow

PS. My passenger side rear light doesn't work. It doesn't come on at all. I have changed the bulbs and checked the fuse. The fuse box is fine. Ideas?

Just got home. The car stalled three times. Something began smelling burnt. Neighbor say na clutch

MY 1.8 VW Golf 3 can't seem to accelerate past 40km/h. The issue started this morning on my way to work. Any ideas? Changing into 2nd and 3rd gear is accompanied by a slight shudder. The 'idle' RPM is slightly lower.

Also just noticed switching on the AC tell a lot on the engine as the rpm reduces I'm in traffic now and afraid the car will stall

Fixed! Central lock now working. My hands are very sore. I had to fix it all over for three of the doors.

Each time I managed to get one harness sealed, the air would begin to escape from another. It was a good learning experience though.

Now my central lock is popping like normal. Goodbye to getting robbed in traffic while i sit powerless at the wheel.

I have rremoved the wires. Still very difficult to fit.

Also, the wires you see there were fixed by the mechanic because we discovered the floor wasn't provisioned for rear speakers. I had already bought them, so I just asked him to go ahead and fix them. I won't mind ripping the damn things off if they are the culprits preventing the hinges from latching.

I just came in from checking the car to see Sienas comment. I found that the thing which you called grommel (I have been googling since looking for the name) is unhinged on both sides of the door. The air has been escaping from there. I can patently hear the hiss.

I cannot, for the love of God, figure out how to connect the two sides together. It looks easy until you try to do it. Been battling for about an hour.

I am thinking I mah have to remove the cover of the car pillars to get at the thing easily. Jeez. Been sweating since.

One of the grommel thingy (not the one on the door) is always shaking. I'm hoping that's not how it was designed. That way, it's almost impossible to fit anything it because it always moves back into the car whenever it feels pressure

I recently fixed speakers onto my 1997 Tokunbo 1.6 Golf 3, and it involved removing all the door panels on the four doors.
It wasn't until i got home from the mechanic's that I discovered my central lock had stopped working. Anytime I lock or open the driver's door(either with key or by pulling that knob), the driver's side, the pump can be heard buzzing loudly at the back for about a minute, but the other doors won't lock/open automatically.

I almost got robbed in traffic last week but thankfully, the robbers tried to open the only door at the back that i had remembered to lock manually.

I was thinking this would be an easy fix, since the pump is obviously still working. Could it be just a matter of connecting wires?
Is it something I can do myself from, perhaps, the driver-side door?

Havn't done a DIY before, but I'm not averse to trying. At the very least, I can remove the door panels.

Yes o. I don turn pro. Would never have believed it if I'd been told I'd be a passable driver now. I don't need to get the Learners permit I had planned on. My clutch contro is almost perfect now, and I've begun dragging space with those lagos pblic buses.

Having a car has opened me to new realms of responsibility. Been hopping around mechanics but I've found the perfect one. The guy loves the car so much more than even I, the owner.

I'm totally in love with the AC of the golf 3. It gets so cold so very quickly, I find it hard to believe people had this kinda luxury in 1996! I have to shut it off every now and then while driving. Fuel economy is top notch. Haven't filled the tank yet tho.

Unfortunately I'm not technical at heart, would have loved to try some DIY fixes myself. Recently put it some security features. My window was smashed in the middle of one night last week, so now I have a battery guard and that 'fuel-lock' security, that once saved my father's mercedes 230e from being driven far by armed robbers in the early 1990s.

It's a Driftboard, not a Hoverboard. Don't you know what 'Hover' means?

Unfortunately, I'm not technical at all! I don't even understand +ve and -ve whatever in electricity. My brain's learning center shuts off that kind of learning. I'm never interested. I'm thinking of being more hands on with the golf tho, especially as youtube videos abound.

I forgot to mention..the car stalled yesterday again and absolutely refused to start

Finally got a Rewire who scanned the car. The cars says it's a Security problem. The car's fob key doesn't work, so I'm not sure how that's possible. The Rewire told me the issue stemmed from the brainbox. He has taken it to Iyana Itire for a scan and a fix. He just called me from Itire. Says a sensor in the brainbox is faulty, and that they're working on it. I hope I meet a working car this evening

Golf 3 is a car good car cuz I own one. They can come up with faults any f**cking time. Have you throttle body checked and then the coil. Is it an auto or manual drive?

It's a manual. Turned out the plug contacts were weak. The new Rewire discovered that after 15mins despite three Rewires being baffled all day yesterday. I just have to change that and I'll be good to go.

Yes. It's a new battery.

Golf 3 didn't come on this morning. Called a mechanic and he suspected the plug and/fuel filter. It's a Tokunbo, and I haven't really driven it.

He managed to bring the car online by pulling on a cable in the bonnet while I was revving it.

We drove it to his shop (Jibowu), I bought new plugs and filter, but the car still didn't come on as expected. In fact, the pulling of that mysterious cable isn't helping anymore. The mechanic has serviced the nozzles to no avail.

Basically, the car just coughs when we try to start it. Anyone have any idea?

A Rewire Is trying to solve by elimination, but no one really knows.

I have always heard that Bail is free...but is it really? Is the money given to the police ever returned if a certain condition is fulfilled?

Can anyone help with the minimum battery capacity for Golf 3 (1.6L). Car didn't start yesterday after a night of being parked, and a battery guy checked and told me the battery was bad and advised a new one. The new one I just put in is 60amps...and the car is still not starting. Any ideas?

Could the battery capacity be the issue?

The cars didn't come with AC gas. I have to fill it up. Costs about 1500 or so. But the wiring for the AC is in perfect condition.

I was skeptical about the 1.6, but then I found out (through the VIN) the golf was made in 1997 and that the engine was used in some golf 4s of the time.

620k (It's a manual). The cotonou exchange rate was not smiling at all o. We got 394 to 1000naira instead of the usual 350/370 or so. It's a lovely car. God golf 4 type engine. Servicing and all will be done before the weekend. Still learning to drive tho

I went for a meeting last week with my partner and he insisted we rode in a convoy to meet the client. I wanted to save fuel by parking at his place and rolling with him but we ended up rolling seperately in convoy.


When we were leaving the meeting and we both remotely opened our cars from afar and both cars answered in unison, the client that was unco-operative suddenly laughed and became friendly....... he was like '' no wonder we refused to reduce our fee''....... and he invited us to hang out with him this weekend.

In Nigeria, people are very class conscious and a car apart from being convenient also makes people accept and listen to you better.

It's shallow but it's the Nigerian way.

Owing a vehicle is prosperity in action, because its a change of level. Whether the person chooses to be grateful for the prosperity that's coming to him/her to attract more good life or not is left for him/her. Prosperity constantly flows in ones life when he or she wishes it to him/herself and appreciate them as they come and not analyze , repel or become ungrateful when Universe or God brings them to their attention.

Having a vehicle is a good life. If you see it as one, it becomes one to you. If you see a vehicle as a liability, it becomes your reality as well, that is, a liability. What you wished for or your interpretation of good life are your prayers, because what you give out is what you receive back. Seeing a vehicle as liability will draw more circumstances that will make you struggle and spend all you have to keep the car on the road, while one that appreciates and see it as good life will continue to get more circumstances that will bring in more and continue been elevated financially and others. That's why some struggle to have and keep only 1 car on the road, while some keep getting more and more vehicles as more good life flows into their lives.

What you interpret a vehicle as becomes your reality, because that's your prayer or wish.
