The irresponsible Amodu has once again in his tradition way, exonerated himself of any lethargic display by the

Having been abroad for 13+ years, I believe that the average Nigerian intellect and sense of self-worth have regressed.

I cannot believe the attitude and lack of dignity and laziness shown by our Super Eagles players, even the young ones.

The only players that have the correct attitude in the whole team are:

Enyeama
Ejide
Echiejile
Danny Shittu
Onyekachi Akpam
Adeleye
Ayila
Etuhu
Odemwingie



It seems the average Nigerian psyche is lazy and our footballers are no longer diligent like the Oliseh's, Adepojus, Amunekes and Thompson Olihas of old. This is because our society in general has regressed.

I think we need to scrap most of these players, and inject some foreign psyche into our team.

Honestly, I believe a central defence of Shittu and Sam Sodje, with Etuhu in midfield and Odemwingie on the wing should be an ever present combination in SE. . . . with Shittu as captain!

Sam Sodje may not play for a great team, or be that skilfull, but trust he is ten times more disciplined than that fool Yobo.


I think that many Nigerians are now second-hand goods, affected by the corrupt incompetent mentality that now pervades Nigerian society.

I saw the same with the Under-20 boys in the last youth World Cup.

It seems our intellect is regressing, hence I recommend that as many players born and bred abroad as possible be drafted into the Super Eagles!!!  Tongue Tongue Tongue

I kinda agree with you a little on the intellect of some of our players, but don't you also think that a great leader could have done better?
The team lacked leadership not only on the field of play but worst from the coaching aspect too. Till tomorrow, I will stick my
neck for Onigbinde's leadership skill, not coaching skill, that is why he could assemble 'junk' in less than 3months and still not be
disgraced even in a defeat. No wonder FIFA has kept him in their Technical committee for so long. Super chicken needs overhauling from
the technical crew.

I 'm glad that some folks here have taken SAGAMITE to task over his vociferous support for AMODU. I 'm also happy SAGAMITE took up the gauntlet and spoke up. That's the caliber of people with strong convictions.

The match has come and gone, but lessons need to be learnt from it. Many of us here shouted ourselves hoarse about how AMODU should not be entrusted with the task of taking us to the NATIONS' CUP and WORLD CUP, but we were inundated with statistics about how AMODU is/was the best for the Super Eagles. I remember commenting then that it would be rather late by the time the REAL statistics start coming in. Now see the result of the game against EGYPT! Adeboye ONIGBINDE that was said to have taken 'junk' players to the World Cup was never disgraced like this.

A number of previous commentators have written on what needs to be done. I will only add that I pray AMODU does the needful. I will also counsel that AMODU resigns after the NATIONS' CUP (even if he wins it). He shouldn't wait to be fired. The NFF have left things too late. The best thing to have done after the team secured the World Cup and NATIONS' Cup tickets was to have held a meeting with the players and coach, relieve AMODU of his job (giving him a fat pay-off) and recruited a solid coach (local or foreign). As it is, NIGERIA needs a new coach asap. I can only pray he is given the same uspport as was extended to WESTERHOF. Please no one here should complain that AMODU wasn't given sufficient support. He got it, and more.

After all said and done (and unlike many commentators here), I still wish the SUPER EAGLES well in this tournament, and I believe (with GOD) they can go all the way to the final. Hope NFF and Presidential Task Force didn't pay $30,000 for loss against EGYPT? The team deserves only their appearance fees.

Ladies and Gentlemen it ain't over yet and if I may add, you have just witnessed history. We lost to Egypt for the first time in 47 YEARS!!!

This is the best SE team in a decade. No, seriously. No kidding.  Cool
They played a wonderful first half (erm 33 mins to be precise) and later got tired. Please don't blame them. The temperature in Angola is high and the price of fuel has also increased.

Our defense marshaled by the able Yobo was so tight it was very hard for the opponent to infiltrate. Forget three goals conceeded for it does not matter.

Our left back position was so effective Taiwo deserves an award.

Our midfield so efficient we played with 3 DMs at a go. Little wonder the most effective of them was taken off for a pair of old legs. No offense to Kanu. He is one of my favourite Nigerian Players.

Our hitman Yakubu was the best player of the pitch so much so he touched the ball only 5 times. Someone said he is out of form and shape. Sorry but I disagree. He is the best we have.

Conclusion: We have the best coach in the world. Thank You Shaibu Amodu.

Life is guided by principles, if you violate it you will pay for it and that is what is happening to us. We know the right
thing to do but we will not do it instead we will be busy putting statistics that cannot hold water together; like Amodu not losing any match, not scoring many goals but not conceding much either theory. we close our eyes to the fact that the team won must of its matches more like luck without any meaningful pattern of play.
We simply lack vision and allowed ourselves to be fooled by one nonsense 'statistic'. I bet when we beat Mozambique and Benin by 1-0 each we will say that we have arrived again even if we don't have any team pattern and we scored our goals with individual brilliance like Obasi did today.

this forum can be used positively to try changing somethings in our country. Lets try to support one of our coaches to take over from amodu and rebuild the team. Samson Siasia, Stephen Keshi or Sunday Oliseh. These are all no- nonsense men and who can impart discipline and purpose in the team. There's nothing wrong with the players, just the team and the NFA

I don't know. Taye wasn't that bad today? He even made some dangerous moves first half that I thought if we

The Egyptians knew what they were doing, they had a game plan and each time they moved upfront
