@londoncool

u remeber the candlestick we were talking about last week, querying whether it was a marubozu or not?, well i have been doing some studying and actually, its a type of marubozu, called the opening marubozu because it doesnt have a candlewick extending above the opening price. in cases where there is a candle wick extending from the opening price end and none from the closing price end, then it would be a closing marubozu. interesting stuff.

i've been looking closely at the patterns on the NSE viz-a-viz candlestick charting and its quite revealing, its like having a code and being able to decode it because u are able to understand the language its written in. I know most fellas on here are skeptical about TA generally and candlestick charting in particular, which is why i decided to "hold my peace". i no want make person come say na "topgun candle" make am lose im life savings, i no wan die young cheesy cheesy.
i will combine it with my weapons though. u never know when it will be needed. I wonder why i tend to think of investing as a sort of war? maybe because its me vs the market. So i need all the weapons i can get really.

Happy investing
@aKTOPGUN, NO HOLD YOUR PEACE O!. I ENJOY YOUR TA. INFACT I DEY USE AN CLOSELY WITH SOME OTHERS. NIGERIAN SECURITIES NA MY PAL. I AM ACTUALLY GETTING TO UNDERSTAND THEM BETTER THANKS TO YOU.

IF YOU NO WAN POST TO THE FORUM, MY EMAIL ADDRESS NA DEBENZD@YAHOO.COM.

I THINK IT IS IMPORTANT TO LOOK AT ALL THINGS FROM DIFFERENT VIEWS. IF IT IS FUNDAMENTALLY RIGHT, 85% OF THE TIME, ALL VIEWS ARE THE SAME OR CLOSE TO EACH OTHER.

IT IS THE SAME WAY I WILL ENCOURAGE F0F2 TO KEEP SENDING HIS COMMENTS AND SUGGESTIONS BECAUSE A BROKER ONCE TOLD ME NEVER TO DISCOUNT THE HISTORY OF NSE. IT PALYS A HUGE FACTOR IN HOW THE FUTURE WILL BE ESPECIALLY FOR FUNDAMENTAL STOCKS.

SO KEEP IT COMING BRO AND GURUS!

I will appreaciate info on how to get online trade alert from NSE.

Cost and the process information will be a good idea.

Thank very much guys.
I just did mine this week. You need to get all the info required from your broker. Then go online and complete the online form at this website. http://www.nse-cscstradealert.com/.

It is free.

I got my reply the same day.

@ Omoba3

You hit the nail on the head. Something similar happened to me this week. I had asked that they sell oceanic since monday this week. As I write, I don't even know if the sale has been made. Meanwhile I be don position to enter some insurance stocks by this Friday. This na Lead Capital o!

I really wish it were possible to be pals with the broker imself. So far 4 UBA Stockbrokers, I have someone who ensures my order is flagged 4 that day.

I just tire jare.

JAZES:
I must confess that i have learnt a lot here about the NSE.Its very interesting to see that we now use some technical terms as used in forex in NSE and thats where i will like to come in.
Being a forex trader myself for sometime now and since am used to those terms.I will like to contribute my own little quota to this interesting thread so that everybody can fully grasped the usage and the importance of candlesticks in technical analysis. Candlesticks are very easy to understand, you only need a half brain to understand it. grin
What is a Candlestick?
Back in the day when Godzilla was still a cute little lizard, the Japanese created their own old school version of technical analysis to trade rice. A westerner by the name of Steve Nison “discovered” this secret technique on how to read charts from a fellow Japanese broker and Japanese candlesticks lived happily ever after. Steve researched, studied, lived, breathed, ate candlesticks, began writing about it and slowly grew in popularity in 90s. To make a long story short, without Steve Nison, candle charts might have remained a buried secret. Steve Nison is Mr. Candlestick.
Okay so what the heck are candlesticks?

The best way to explain is by using a picture: http://www.babypips.com/school/what_is_a_candlestick.html
Just take your time to go through the link i have provided above and you will fully grasped eveything about candlesticks,u will not only understand terms like marubozu but will also be able to teach others.
Thanks man. Do have a great day!

How easy is it for you to place and cancel orders?

Can someone introduce me to small broker?
I either job online, send text messages with a follow up call(can't afford to risk just a text message) and sometimes email.

Small brokers fit help but u must make sure ur trade alert is in place. Then you also have to keep ur spreadsheet updated regularly.

Take note again, no market in this world get 52 Bullish weeks. The tail tail signs of bear hibernation being over will reveal themselves later in the year. IT MUST HAPPEN.
Thanks very much for your candid assessment. I know about the lull. Affected me last year. It's good to know though that what I proposed doing is not so far fetched. You strategy for this peirod is actually what I have been using since jioning this forum. Infact I can't seem to get enough dough to spread around.

Anyways, you can't eat it all. I was fortunate to get on the NASCON train although with only 30K units. I did well with Access, GT and FCMB. Like u said, profit removed and moved to other stocks.
This has helped my portfolio a lot.

Using just the RSI and MACD, you have corraborated every call I have had to make in NSE this year. I couldn't get into eveything i.e. Eterna (my bro did and has cleaned out his profit) but then like I said you can't eat it all.

With the influx of all the TA gurus aka Aktopgun, easimoni, punmice etc, I think the decision making will even get better.

I have also learnt to be patient with the market and to stop the "I WISH SYNDROME".  NSE no go die yet. Oppourtunity go still come God willing.

Little drops of water make a mighthy ocean. Any decision made is mine to enjoy or regret no oneelse's.

Do take care and do keep a heads up for more questions.

InvestmentRe: Stock Market Tips For Nigerians by debenzd(f): 9:31am On Feb 13, 2008
@Fatherof2,

I have this challenge for you. I want to carry out an experiment and I need your help.

Apart from my day to day portfolio, I may be able to set out 5m for a special purpose.

I want to make 10% net proceeds(after all commission) in 2weeks for the next one yr. That implies 14% in 2 weeks. It may be with just one stock or several. I may or may not compound the profit

Is this possible? What are the pitfalls? Where do you aslo expect a lull?

Longterm - I could put this money in say UBA and if there is a bonus given(maybe) it may double the value in 1yr.

The short term option looks appealing because even if I decide not to compound the values, I stand to make(hopefully) (10% of 5m is 500,000. This 500,000 X 26wks is 13,000,000)

13m which is 3m more than the long term option exclusive of the original 5m I put in.

Is this wishful thinking?

All other gurus in the forum are welcomed to contribute. I like to look at things from all angles.

Looking forward to hearing your contributions.
