Yeah, because River Benue flows in the South. . . Daft. cry
Wow!!!!!!! Beaf my friend, I suggest you take a peek at Lokoja and you would realize that body of waters that flow southward did not come from River Niger alone. From Lokoja, the body of water that flows southward should have been named Benue-Niger but the colonialists wanted to use Niger and its area to coin Nigeria, hence all the body of water southward is referred as Niger.  River Benue does not flow northward but south.

Geographically, Lokoja is not called confluence town for nothing because it is the place where Rivers Niger and Benue converged and flow southward.

EzeUche0:
I disagree. Only Delta and Bayelsa state can be considered part of the Niger Delta geographically speaking.

Delta - a low triangular area of alluvial deposits where a river divides before entering a larger body of water;

The river Niger empties between Delta State, Rivers State and Bayelsa State. Not the other states that you mentioned. The other states that you mentioned have rivers, but they are just tributaries.
You are woefully wrong pal because there is nothing such as “Niger Delta”. The southern Nigerian deltas were formed by Rivers Niger, Benue, Imo, Anambra, Orashi, Utamiri, Qua Ibuo, Forcados and Escravos. Again, River Niger is not the only river in Nigeria that finds its way to the Atlantic Ocean. If River Niger dries up today, there shall till be delta in southern Nigeria.

I can not believe the shameless loudmouths still have audacious pedigree to lampoon the personality of Phillip Emeagwali on the latter’s meritorious achievement on high performance and parallel computing as depicted by Gordon Bell Acm Awards Organization.

It is commonly said that the test of the pudding is in the eating. I urge all the empty-headed critics of Emeagwali to partake in high performance and parallel computing exercise to, at least, gain a place in the category of Honorable Mention.

For all of you who have shown the characteristics of doormats on this issue should know that Gordon Bell is still awarding prizes and kids from Asia continent are dominating the Prize Performance category.

By CHRISTOPHER OJI

Thursday, November 4, 2010
• My problem is how to pay N45,000 hospital bill
• Suspect’s family threatens my life

The mother of a 13-year-old girl, in Ajangbadi, Lagos suburb, who was allegedly despoiled and tortured by a co-tenant, has cried out for justice.

Victim

advertisement

She has particularly appealed to the wife of the state governor, Mrs. Abimbola Fashola and other concerned mothers to assist in ensuring that the suspect is prosecuted.

Cheta (other names withheld) was allegedly despoiled and a deep cut inflicted on her private part, which also affected her intestine.

According to the distraught mother, some of her daughter’s intestine were seen gushing out from her womanliness after the dastardly act. A medical doctor in a private hospital pushed the intestines back and stitched the private part, to stop excessive bleeding which according to her, lasted for two days.

The victim, who spoke of her ordeal in the hands of one the suspect, Chukwuemeka (other names withheld), narrated how she went to dispose of refuse, after her aunty she was living with had gone out before the unfortunate incident.

According to her, she was on her way to the refuse dump site when the suspect called her.

“As a co-tenant I regarded as an elder brother, I did not suspect he would hurt me,” she said

According to her, Emmy, as the suspect is fondly called, in the area, lured her into the flat where he lives quickly locked up the door.

“He pushed me down and used one of his hands to cover my mouth and held me to the ground.” He succeeded in removing my clothes but I vowed not to allow him have his way. I started struggling with him but he kept warning to kill me, if I did not succumb, but I resisted,” she said.

The victim, who sobbed as she spoke to Daily Sun, continued: “He has long nails. So, he used them to tear my womanliness. The nails penetrated inside me and it was as if he was using sharp razor blade to cut my private part. He did not have pity on me even when blood was gushing out from my womanliness. “The man was using his fingers as if he was frantically searching for a missing object. I almost died. And when he realised the magnitude of the damage he had done to me, he stood up.
It was when I stood up that I noticed that my intestine was gushing out. I thought I was going to die but I managed to go home to narrate my ordeal to people before I would die.” The victim’s mother, a single parent, told Daily Sun that she lived in Ikotun area of the metropolis, while her daughter lived with her younger sister at Ajamgbadi. She told how she was phoned and informed that her daughter had been rushed to a private hospital, after her encounter with the victim.

The angry woman, who simply identified herself as Madam Ify said she was devastated, when she saw the condition of her daughter. “ As a single mother, I knew that my world has collapsed. I tried to imagine the harrowing experience my daughter went through and the excruciating pains she went through during the attack. So, I rushed to the Ajamgbadi police station, where I reported the matter,” she said.

She disclosed that her life is now in danger after she reported the matter to the police. According to her, the suspect’s uncle and other members of his family had been threatening and intimidating her for reporting the case to the police. To her surprise also, her younger sister she was living with, had aligned with the suspect to blame her for reporting the matter to the police.

She alleged how she was beaten up at the hospital by the suspect’s relatives, which compelled the police to charge the matter to court. According to her, immediately the police charged the matter to court, Chukwuemeka’s family members threatened to abandon her daughter in the hospital.

“So, I was blackmailed to withdraw the case from the court and wrote an undertaking not to pursue the case in court any longer.”

She said even after writing the undertaking, her daughter was still abandoned at the hospital with a medical bill of N45,000, hanging on her neck. She said each time she went to Chukwuemeka’s family to request for the payment of the hospital bill, they threatened her.

She said her daughter had been having psychological trauma and abdominal pains since the attack on her by Chukwuemeka. “I am a single parent. I have no money to follow up the case. I beg Mrs. Abimbola Fashola, the Deputy Governor of Lagos state, Princess. Sarah Sosan and all concerned women to fight this battle for my daughter. It is a war against female intimidation and inhumanity to womenfolk,” she said.

There is no fathomable means under the sum in which a man of ordinary strength would disembowel a girl of 13 year old through her vagina with mere finger nails. It is unfortunate that this forum is recently populated with dullards who stock in trade is shameless blackmail.

Truely but to a fault. The south easterners caused the problems for themselves. They betray one another. you will imagine an ibo man's house burgled still by his fellow ibo man funny enough the person that did the act might be his neighbour. Truth be told ibos are'nt united. If the hausas has been clamouring for marginalisation for the past 50yrs they would have got it and left. if its the yorubas that has been, they would have got it. but i see that ibos are confused, disorganised, money driven and never thinking of the way forward. why has the south south held nigeria to ransom through their oil, why has the notherners held nigeria to ransom though the use of their Jihad. Though i am yoruba but i am not tribalistic i see every tribe should be treated equally without favouritism. If the ibo leaders at the top can come in one accord, there would be result in terms of structural development and security. I pray so
If I say you are deluded and stark ignorant, believe me it is an understatement. I lived in Lagos and can say without equivocation that a Yoruba neighbor’s house was burglarized by a fellow Yoruba neighbor who happens to be his cousin. If I tabulate crimes committed by Yoruba against another Yoruba, I shall definitely run of bandwidth.

Actually I do not blame you because some idiotic Igbo extractions took over the nonsensical June 12 political saga and made it a doctrine against the advice of people such as myself.

Nigerian presidency is a piece of crap that can not grace the fancy of any true Igbo man. Having said that, I must say that any Ndigbo person clamoring for GEJ’s dubious claim to Nigerian presidency in 2011 is first line enemy of Ndigbo.
Politics › Re: You’re Ignorant, Ex-ohaneze Secretary Achuzie Tells Critics by Dede1(m): 2:20pm On Nov 02, 2010
With all due respect, I am of the view that Chief Joe Achuzie is the person who exuded ignorance on this subject matter. I must remind Achuzie that the spirit of south-eastern region in conjunction with Ndigbo which he invokes freely in the alleged interview died a natural death in 1967 hence abandoned property saga in River State. Where was Goodluck Jonathan and phantom spirit of south-eastern region when the properties of Ndigbo were declared abandoned properties?

I tried very much to resist the temptation of insulting the Igbo figure in Achuzie especially when he insinuates that GEJ presidency would open the door for Ndigbo to become president. What a goofy stream of thought. The Ndigbo can only achieve such a feat by adhering to a process guided by constituted policy as enshrined in the PDP constitution. I could not discern how GEJ presidency will augment the unstoppable zeal for an Igbo extraction to become president of Nigeria.

Please could someone tell Joe that Nigeria is practicing democracy and its all about numbers? Baring rigging, GEJ is a sure bet to loose 2011 election if the northern region decided to frown at torpedoing of the PDP zoning formula.

Sir your stand is that the zoning in PDP constitution should be upheld above every other thing. Have you looked at Ohanezes historic position that power rotation should be among the zones and not between North and South which the North shot down at Abacha's constitutional conference which eventually did not see the light of day.? Is it to be assumed that because PDP is said to have adopted the North's view in their constitution that Ohaneze should jettison their historic stand? No sir. An organization leading one of the largest tribes in the Nation must maintain their stand unless there is a painfully contrary National Consensus via an acceptable or accepted forum like an SNC or National Conference or plebiscite, etc, which PDP constitution, whose zoning arrangement was crafted by a handful of insincere and self seeking politicians, clearly does not represent. Ohaneze is standing true to their long held view about power rotation and should actually be praised for that steadfastness. Towing the Northern view as is said to be enshrined(?) in the PDP constitution would be what ought to have been seen as political suicide, unprincipled behaviour and fatally capitulating to Northern scheme .

[/b]
Sir, I do not have any use for sentimental posturing as many Nigerians would like to have it. Based on the training I received from my parents and other facilities, I tend to pursue issues on constituted merits.

The only entity mentioned in Nigerian constitution with powers to sponsor a candidate for political office in Nigeria is political party. Other than Nigerian constitution which had granted express powers to political parties, I only hold judiciously to detect of the constitution of contending political parties in Nigeria. In this regards, I am at home with section 7-2c of PDP constitution as far as zoning or rotating of posts are concerned in Nigeria.

I came to this conclusion based on the fact that PDP is the only political party whose members had gray matters above their shoulders capable of removing any ambiguity on the issue of zoning or rotating political offices by entrenching such clause in its constitution. Whether it was a brain child of northern politicians to inject the idea of zoning political positions in Nigeria into PDP constitution, which I doubt very much, I do not give a hoot.

It is very ludicrous for some peeps to deny and even kick against the zoning formula of PDP and at the same time conjuring the idea of rotational of political posts within the umbrella of PDP. If GEJ runs for presidency of Nigeria against the back drop of section 7-2c of PDP constitution, all the subsequent positions thereafter must be decided based on the winner takes-all since democracy is a game of numbers.

I am lost trying to fathom why PDP constitution is a political suicide. At least, it shows sense of virtue, sanity and decorum instead of horse race GEJ and political minnows are trying very hard to introduce in PDP. It is unfortunate you failed woefully to see that GEJ is trying to introduce the latent influence of incumbency in party primaries. After GEJ tenure, it certainly will be the turn of Sambo and then followed by whosoever is Sambo’s VP.

I am lost for words to describe the political mess created by the endorsement of GEJ presidency by Uwechue led Ohanaeze. There is not doubt that there is EZE in Ekpeye the home of GEJ. Is that EZE a member of Ohanaeze? I shall left my humble self by asking if Ohanaze is an exclusive entity of the southeast. In every release statements from Ohanaeze under Uwechue, it is either a common reference to southeast or mention of one deluded Eze Cletus Ilomuanya.
Politics › Re: Why We Endorsed Jonathan, By Ohanaeze (Guardian Newspaper) by Dede1(m): 9:30pm On Oct 30, 2010
The posted article allegedly from Ohanaeze or Uwechue in solidarity with GEJ presidency is a load of rubbish. The aforementioned article kept refereeing to either southeast or one goofy Eze Cletus Ilomuanya, who is the chairman of the Southeast Traditional Council. The question remains is Ohanaeze an exclusive entity of southeast?

I am ashamed to read statements devoid of intellect and substance that have been credited to Uwechue such as “agreement with some Northerners that Ndigbo should support them in 2011, so that in 2015 they will support Igbo Presidency did they consult Ohanaeze or the governors of the Southeast?” Who are the northerners in this case? If Uwechue is in a bid to torpedo a well constructed process under a constitutionally constituted political body such as PDP, I asked what nonsensical agreement he is talking about.

One thinks that a man of Uwechue caliber should understand that a strike against PDP zoning is equally a strike against the so-called rotational presidency he kept referencing in the interview.

It is either the writer of the posted piece of trash is indebted to stupidity or lacks the ability to indulge in history.

Since the inception of colonial contraption called Nigeria, the section the writer audaciously tabulated, thus, Yoruba, the so-called south-south and Middle Belt had never voted for Igbo man.

It is the height of insensitive on the part of the writer to reference instances of loss of political sympathy of Yoruba, the minority ethnic groups of southern and central Nigeria by Ndigbo. May I remind this idiotic writer that when it was a matter of life or death such as Nigeria/Biafra civil war, the Yoruba and the so-called minority ethnics groups in Nigeria, baring Ibibio, Annang, Ogoni and Atama, joined the Hausa and Fulani in their bloody thirsty quest to exterminate the Igbo people?  If the Yoruba and certain minorities both in the southern and northern Nigeria did not care to show their misplaced sympathies towards Ndigbo in a war of attrition, one wonders what induced this loudmouthed son of a naughty woman to insinuate that Nidgbo would give a rat arse about block vote of Yoruba and the minorities in a ridiculous joke such as the presidency of the cesspit called Nigeria.

I could not believe this drooling maggot had such time to spend on trivial subject such the presidency of cesspit called Nigeria. Let me inform this hack writer Ndigbo believe in a process sustainable through ridged policy. The writer displayed unmitigated sycophancy and hidden political treachery in attempt to lampoon the political personalities of Igbo extraction. PDP showed unequalled political sophistication and vision when it included the zoning clause in its constitution. In my estimation, it was a winning clause and should be respected for continuity sake.

It will be waste of my precious time to implore the writer to survive the political landscape of Nigeria. He or she would find most political parties such AD, a tribal enclave, have sunk under the weight of political sycophancy that is very common in Nigeria.

Zoning of anything in Nigeria would have died a natural death if GEJ runs and wins the 2011 Nigeria presidential election. It amounts to unqualified silliness for Uwechue to have 2015 election and zoning in one sentence after encouraging political support to a man who destroyed the normal spirit and principles of zoning of political posts in Nigeria.

The story is always that villagers tampered with the fulani mans cows and that he holds his cows in high esteem infact that a fulani man prefers to loose the life of his child than loose his cow. Please did anybody tamper with his cow? Yelwa Shendam, Dogon Nahawa, Retsat, Zot, Mazza, and now Bassa. My take is that instead of sneaking in at night to kill innocent women and children cant they bring up the issue so that it can be solved.

We the should still thank God that Jonathan took Dambazau and Sale Maina off. If not the Hausa muslim soldiers, the Almajeris, and the fulanis would have masacared the people of plateau. The people of Plateau are not ready to take the bull by the horn. These killings will still continue. There is no man like Zamani Lekwot he is my all time Hero. Just one man messed the fulani cowards in Zango kataf. We have quite a number of Military men from Plateau but not any seems to be bold enough to hit these cowards.

I pray that plateau state can just produce one ZAMANI LEKWOT this mess will be over.
Were you referring to the unqualified moral support Zamani Lekwot rendered to young Igbo warriors during the riot in Zango kataf?
