No problem! Thought as much. Oh well, he and his ilk are free to point their guns whereever they deem fit.
There has always been all this talk about yoruba cowards. Oh well, maybe its time they realised that the OYO EMPIRE was not built on
"shakara", empty-boast alone.
There is a big different between battles fought with sticks and ropes by village empires such as Oyo and modern warfare that includes AK-47.

I guess, going by the posts of certain Igbo sons such as OnlyTruth, EzeUche, and Dede1, there are cowards in the west and as such, the West will be an easier conquest. Or perhaps its just plain fear of the North.
Nice try pal but uncertainty is the hallmark of a war.

Pal, your curiosity is well understood. The muzzle of my gun could point to East, West or even Atlantic but certainly not the North.

Granted no election is either free or fair, anybody with uncovered tendency to flout any form of statutory code is bound to rig election. GEJ seemed apathetic to civility.
I feel you but they were born to rule na and not to go to school.  Ask yourself why Nnamdi Azikiwe was myopic enough to sign such contract with the North. It shows that  even though he was a very noble and intelligent man but he never really understood the underlining factors controlling the Nigerian polity. How will holding on to power help them catch up with the south in terms of education and development?. Awolowo wouldn't have agreed left for him alone instead make oyibo hold the power till further notice. wink wink wink
It appears you have the tendency to grab historical facts on the wrong end. I am not writing this post to defend Nnamdi Azikiwe’s political short-sightedness. But given the hindsight of the era in question, it was political expedience on the part of NCNC to form alliance with the NPC. Now, you should understand it was not east against north or west. The Awolowo you have favorably cited in your post also sent political emissaries to both north and east. At least, Azikiwe did not send any team to the north for stealthy negotiation.

Again, the northerners have never proclaimed before anybody in Nigeria that they were “born to rule”. The phrase “born to rule” tagged on the northerners were perpetuated by the idiotic southerners who joined the northerners to precipitated war of attrition against Biafra.

Before the civil war, it was much unheard in Nigeria to refer northerners as born to rule. This nonsensical jargon, “born to rule”, crept into Nigerian political lexicon after Nigeria/Biafra civil war when the western, some sections of Midwestern and eastern regions elevated the northerners to the position of ruler-ship in Nigeria.

Without sounding too Machiavilian about this, I would rather ride on the back of the north than waste energy swiminng with them just like they have ridden on our backs since 1970.

We were equal regional competitors with the Yorubas until Awo arrived on the scene with his 20 pounds strategy, then we lost to them economically and politically. It makes more sense to reverse the trend ASAP

For our small, but troublesome Ijaw cousins, it's better to treat them the way you take a misbehaving child inside the house, lock the door, and teach him the lesson of his life.

All in all, being emotional static at 1960s is not an option. I just like to get even, and not necessarily get mad.
Bros, I like your point of view. And I beg to agree to disagree. If there should be any war in Nigeria today, the muzzle of my gun shall not point north. Northern region of Nigeria is not a focal point and shall never be the sole part of the amalgam of my political philosophy. It was the mouse in the house that told the mice in the bush that dried fish is hidden in the basket. I shall never commit the same blunders allowed by the Igbo generations before me.
Politics › Re: Saudi Reintroduces Free Islamic Education For Kano Indigenes by Dede1(m): 12:30pm On Oct 09, 2010
Nigeria is in a depthless pit of social decadence because Nigerians do not pay rapt attention to history. In the early 60s, it was a Saudi Arabian professor of Arabic Studies at ABU, Zaria that introduced Islamic radicalism to the school. I have nothing against Islamic religion but have everything against it when members of the sect use it as a tool of violence.
Politics › Re: Terrorism - I Did Not Exonerate Mend -jonathan by Dede1(m): 12:18pm On Oct 09, 2010
Unidentifiable A is a terrorist. A is not B. B is known as militant that blows up crude oil pipelines, kidnaps people in southern Nigeria via Niger Delta and engages in murder. B is also MEND. The name of B that operates in Niger Delta was only used in the bomb blast in Abuja. Yet B surreptitiously claimed to be responsible for the terrorist act in Abuja. If A is not B, it then means B has been exonerated from the act of bombing in Abuja by any person who made such illogical claim.

The word exonerate is “to free from accusation or blame”. I think when the GEJ said that A is not B; he meant that B also known as MEND is free from accusation or blame. GEJ also supported his empty claim by saying "he is from Niger Delta and no one knows Niger Delta more him". Again, this claim of knowing Niger Delta more than any person that walked the surface of earth is a ridiculous boloney. By the way, a sentence conveys a thought.

You're right.
However, and since politics is a game of no-permanent friends, but permanent interests, we Igbos need to learn to use this opportunity to advance our own interest, and quickly too.
Since the race is still going on, there should be little need to remain fixated in the past. Doing so will be ino na agha n'a gu ndi egburuegbu
Bros, Americans say “the past is prologue”. In addition, my grandfather told me not to forgive or forget the onlooker who did everything other than to commit suicide to cheer my opponent who had me in stranglehold. The political philosophy of “no permanent friends but permanent interests” can only hold true if there is iota of mutual understanding among the parties involved. In Nigeria, there is no mutual political understanding among the people and memories of favor are very short-lived.

I had rather swim with the northern Nigerians who had respected my ability to fight back than swim with the so-called neighbors (southern Nigerians) who would drown me at the urging of northern Nigerians.
Politics › Re: Attacks Were Targeted At Jonathan, Says Asari by Dede1(m): 4:27pm On Oct 08, 2010
There are too many loudmouthed punks from the so-called Niger Delta who are under the influence of akamere or ogogoro. They usually speak with great quality of daftness.

I think the northern leaders are quite in order if they should call for the impeachment of GEJ. Truly speaking, the presidency has shown lack of dedication to the rigorous job of running a country. It is mindboggling to know there is apparently no intelligent apparatus in Nigeria.

This case brings me full circle to the alleged case of taxi driver who ran into the motorcade of the president. GEJ must be seriously quizzed about what he knew, did or not do as a result of the bomb blast in Abuja. If GEJ is found guilty in dereliction of duty, I pray his dark arse should be impeached.

It is funny many forum contributors continue to compare military Heads of State with democratically elected presidents.

Politics › Re: Gej, You Can Still Redeem Yourself by Dede1(m): 2:09pm On Oct 08, 2010
GEJ exudes everything wrong about Nigeria. If judging by the posts on this forum following the bomb blast in Abuja, I say the cross section of Nigerian society is screwed. GEJ has displayed unacceptable dereliction of duty and gross incompetence as nation’s leader. Those Nigerian who seemed to be flagrantly pointing accusing fingers at IBB and others should take a serious look at them selves.

Where is GEJ the chief security officer of Nigeria? Where are the IGP, Director of SSS, Armed forces Intelligent Boss, Minister of Internal Affairs, Minister of FCT, Chief of Defense Staff and National Assembly Oversight and Intelligent Committee? In fact, the Nigeria has gone beyond geographical expression. Somebody needs to be impeached and sacked.
Politics › Re: 1st Oct Bomb Blast! Where Is Our Chief Of Army Staff And IG? by Dede1(m): 1:45pm On Oct 08, 2010
^^^^^ Why are you particularly interested in Chief of Army Staff? Do you know the duties of COAS? Have you forgotten that Chief of Army Staff is one of the three service chiefs? What about of Chief of Naval Staff and Chief of Air force Staff? You should be more interested in GEJ, Chief of Defense Staff, Director of SSS and IGP than COAS.

By the way, GEJ is the chief security officer of Nigeria and should have been quizzed for unacceptable dereliction of duty with gross incompetence.
Politics › Re: Terrorism - I Did Not Exonerate Mend -jonathan by Dede1(m): 1:23pm On Oct 08, 2010
If I have constituted authority to arrest and quiz anybody about the bomb blast in Abuja, I should have invited GEJ, VP, IGP, Director SSS, CDF, Armed forces Intelligent Boss, Minister of Internal Affairs and Minister of FCT for serious talk. I should also judiciously pursue MEND leadership, few political heavyweights and selected media houses in Nigeria.

During quizzing, if the presidency is found fumbling in areas of intelligent gathering and setting up protective/preventive apparatus against the terrorist act such as the bomb blast in Abuja, GEJ must be impeached and few individuals must be forced to quit.
Politics › Re: Dokpesi Arrested For Abuja Bomb Blast by Dede1(m): 12:57pm On Oct 08, 2010
If Nigeria is a country, the investigation of bomb explosion in Abuja should have been two- prong approach. The primary investigation should have been focused on the perpetrators and secondary investigation should have focused on the presidency. The presidency should be quizzed on the intelligent sources, if any, and any actions taken to prevent the attack.

If the presidency can not supply answers to such questions, I guess someone should tagged as being incompetent then resignation or impeachment has to follow. All these fly-by-air accusations on IBB and Dokpesi as main focal point of the bombing in Abuja are politics of bad faith.

Politics › Re: Northern Political Leaders Ask Jonathan To Resign by Dede1(m): 6:50pm On Oct 07, 2010
When did these disgusted and betrayal artists from southern Nigeria develop such contemptible hatred for northern region of Nigeria? It was not long ago northern Nigeria was regarded by western, mid-western and some section of eastern region as the best thing God created after the slice of bread.

The western and certain section of mid-western regions were willing to kill easterners on the urging of northern region of Nigeria. Today’s shameful displays of political shenanigans by delusional southern Nigerians are complete waste of time. The water is already under the bridge.
Politics › Re: To Hell With Your Oil, North Tells South by Dede1(m): 2:28pm On Oct 07, 2010
The current waves of accusation and counter-accusation of dependence on crude oil emanating from the northern and certain parts of southern sections of the Nigeria amount to unfathomable idiocy and display of unforgivable blunder. The action of northern region, western region, some section of mid-western and eastern regions of Nigeria to foist a war of attrition on Biafra in 1967 was instigated by crude oil.

It is still funny to read from certain quarters of these shameless sections of Nigeria when they argue it was the need to keep the colonial contraption united instead of crude oil instigated the civil war.

And to the loudmouthed idiots from the southern Nigeria who often ascribe the “born-to-rule” phrase to northerners, I say it not so. The truth remains a cross-section of southern Nigerians has conferred the fictitious born-to-rule title on the northerners due to deplorable and treacherous behaviors of many southern Nigerians in 1967 civil war. I guess people shall reap what they sow

The author did not only display tribal bigotry but showed lack of logic associated with human beings. The slowpoke was so blinded with tribal sentiments he or she could not see the need for regional development in Nigeria.

I can not believe the dunce was pen-happy to orchestrate the fact that arrangement has been ratified for USA to commence direct from Washington, DC to Lagos. Did the author forget it will be nice for direct flight to commence from Washington, DC to Enugu since Lagos-Ore-Benin road has become a death trap? When did it become a national crime to have more than one international airport in country?

Sometimes I wonder if it actually good to share nationality with certain people.
Politics › Re: Tafawa Balewa's Mind-set Captured Accurately by Dede1(m): 2:38pm On Oct 02, 2010
It is commonly said that people who do not understand the past will repeat the mistakes of the past. Anybody who thinks his or her problem is primarily homemade dies a miserable death.

The major problem of Nigeria is the ethnic coloration of the country which is very natural and human. The corruption aspect can be corrected with stringent approach. Nigeria is a wrongly conceived idea constructed on a very loose foundation and needs to be deconstructed and reconstructed on a foundation strictly based on commonality and composition of the ethnic groups.

Some people would want Nigeria to leap along but it could be too late if agitations to disintegrate Nigeria are not taken seriously. The issue of differences in Nigeria is better handled amicable in the conference rooms than in the battle fields. Time is fast running out on Nigeria.

It surely is the best evidence for it in the context of a forum where opinions are being thrust about.

I can't vouch for everyone in the list but I think majority of those on it are good at delivering logical and objective arguments that they can back up in most of their arguments, and willing to accept same when another person puts it forth to them.

I do think though that some NLers are confusing being intelligent to having a sharp mind.

There surely are a few intelligent people on NL, but I think majority of the shapest minds are likely on that list. I don't know everyone on NL, so the poster might have missed some.

There are obviously people that take NL as a bit of fun, time-passer or joke that don't engage too intensely in debates.

Some people can not make the list though as they do take NL seriously but yet their arguments only show passion, not top intellect.

Imagine saying Dede1 and Beaf should be put in the same category as, for example, Deepsight. LWKMD  grin grin grin grin

Read the debate that follows and then the inevitable outcome

Such comparison of the 2 with Deepsight is like pitching the present fastest runner from Sri Lanka against Usain Bolt.

That would be a joke as he would not even be able to compete with the 3rd fastest from Japan/Nigeria that are still a few notches below.
You can stomp this forum to dead and try very hard to bring other contributors to your dirty level; you shall still not be qualified to attract ordinary mention of your handle name to the group.

Forum is not a place of unnecessary analytical essays or a platform for popularity contests. It is a place where historical facts are stood on their feet and fictitious conjectures are led to rest.

Unlike you who spent much of the time debating about the overage of Nigerian girls, I stick with the political facts about Northern and Southern Protectorates including 1960's Nigerian era. I suggest you stick with the issues on overage or underage of Nigerian girls and stay away from subject matters that are way beyond your imaginary intellectual pedigree.

If MEND is responsible for the car bomb in Abuja or not, I do not bloody care. I have seen worse than the scene displayed after the alleged car bomb. This pales in status when compared with loads of train coaches that brought dead innocent easterners to Enugu, Umuahia, Aba and Port Harcourt.  What about strafing of innocent children at feeding centers by Nigerian MIGs?

If Nigeria is not peacefully disintegrated, the talk of revolution is a child play because war of attrition waits in the wing.
