I dream of a time when an Eminem-like personality abroad will be happy and over-excited that a Davido-like personality liked his Instagramlike posts. Seriously I'm not against your opinion, but when are we going to get there, where excessive desire for imported goods @ the detriment of our own reign supreme.

It has reached an alarming rate to the extent that we craves for anything imported e.g. Brazilian hair, Brazilian yansh (boot pad), religions, even ordinary tooth picks!

My brother, somebody needs to spearhead the moves to return sanity into our society.

As for the local rice, Rome was not built in a day, we will get there. Meanwhile, imported Asian rice is still in the markets for those that can afford it. The importers passed through our seaports now & pay the necessary duty fees & this might be responsible for his higher price now.

Before, all these customs duties, clearance payments go to Benin republic & they don't grow rice for exports over there, they import from Asia, so, they are now sidelining Nigeria by the activities of smugglers who always evade payments.

I don't sell imported rice please. I have bought the Nigeria grown rice twice now but it all dirty with tares and full of Stones.

There are lots of brands, I buy Ofada rice in the local market in the island, it's stone free, other processed types as well, stop sounding like a saboteur or an enemy of progress...if you know about economics and how importing of food affects the value of our currency, you will support this policy.

Even the so called Nigeria rice are all full of Stones. They never improve on their production yield but can enforced total shut down on our land borders. The rate of appendicitis symptoms will increased tremendously in our various hospitals for this stones and tares in the rice. Very bad .

I see you in every rice thread...do you sell imported rice. Not all local rice have stones...stop spreading lies. This policy is good for our economy,we can grow all the rice we need. Nigeria have no business importing food.

Government to grow food? What happen to your own hands and legs? Even in socialist countries I dont see government doing that.

Please try respond like a learned man...when I say government grow food, I mean in commercial/mass production quantities...say what you know, countries all over the world have nationalised industries, managed by private proffessionals to provide basic needs for the people, the essence is to compete with private firms in the sector, with competition price reduces for the masses...this is the essence. Everyone can not be a farmer... please let's talk like learned men. The issue here is pricing, affordability of food for the people.

This government does not have your interest at heart. And they didn't close the borders for your sake. It was for the sake of those who are close to the seat of government involved in rice farming.

If they really have your interest, they should stop importing refined petroleum products and make our refineries work.

They should stop importing keke and set up a production factory for it.

They should stop budgeting for generators importation and give us steady light.

Common man, you can't be sinister all the time...which of them in power have rice mills... generally a country like Nigeria have no business importing food.

When government put policy in place to ensure easy way of life .some greedy nigerians will still find a way to circumvent the policy and inflict pain on fellow countrymen and blame the government.

Why rebag local rice as foreign and sell at exorbitant price. The good thing about border closure is foreign rice re fading away gradually.

And the farmers re getting attention now. Our money flow should be from govt -banks- firms- households -farmers- .

Government needs to also have an Agricultural agency/board, that will be run by proffessionals, managed by private consultants, who are proffessionals in rice farming, to grow rice across geo political zones, specifically, areas where rice production will thrive. We have abundant land, and government have the resources. This will make rice production surplus, and cheaper for the people. Everywhere in the world, Government participate in food production, in order to subsidize it for the masses. Regulation and price ceiling by this Agency will also help. Government must intervene to make things easier for the people, this is the essence of government, not just endless politicking, like we see in Nigeria.

Good development, let our money stay in Nigeria, Togo, Benin, and all these African nations should be importing from us, not the other way round. If we import less, our currency value will stabilise...it's the balance of payments principle...if you export more, your currency will be in demand for payments, this increases its value. Let the money stay here, this is the way to true growth, development and prosperity. Every nation is fighting for itself, from America to UK, these African countries are parasites to us, they are feeding off us, without buying much from us, let's stop this nonsense, we can grow all these food here, we have the most blessed land in the world, for Agriculture.

All these desperate con men embarrassing us, there should be a special punishment for them.
