tomiwiyu: Are you sure you checked well? Nigeria is still very much on the list. The implication of the list is that recruitment agencies cannot recruit health workers from Nigeria to the UK. Direct application is still very much valid. 4 Likes |

Baloemmy23: What you have heard may be true. I know someone close to me who has experienced this. Whatever you choose to do depends on what motivates you. This person will never stop doing care work because of how much she has made from the job over the years and still making. But be advised that the UK is a very big country and people have different experiences so this cannot be the reality of everyone in Care job. So many people are finding it very convenient. In my own opinion, I will advise that you prepare yourself mentally to face situations like this so if it comes, you will know how to face it and if you do not experience it, lucky you. However, if you do not have the mental capabilities to face those kind of situation, find another kind of job that suits you. Tech jobs are one of the biggest, if not the biggest paying jobs in the UK. Learn a tech skill and start your process of migrating. People get jobs within one year of learning a skill. I hope this helps 2 Likes |

aussy1: 1. You do not pay any other fees aside your visa fee. However, there are value added services on TLScontact website which are OPTIONAL that you may need to pay for, should you decide to go for them. 2. You can upload your documents via the SELF-SERVICE option. However, if you make any mistake or omit any document after submission, you will have to pay for the ASSISTED SERVICE to correct it. I hope this helps 1 Like 2 Shares |

MsLane: Just like advanceDNA has said, your employer reserves the right to apply for any desirable length of time on your CoS as they deem fit. However, it can always be renewed when its about to expire. Whether you choose to reject it or not, is up to you, but be aware that the CoS you have is what a lot of people are begging/paying/praying for. In the event that your contract is not renewed, experience has shown that employers would rather employ someone who is already in the UK than employ someone from abroad. The choice is yours 1 Like |

IRIEBOY: Taxation is not Rocket Science. You are ONLY taxed based on what you have EARNED with your National Insurance Number and if it meets the taxation threshold. Example: My first 3 months in the UK was the last 3 months of the financial year and what I would earn within that period was not up to the taxation threshold (about £12,500) so I was not taxed for that period Read more: https://www.gov.uk/income-tax-rates 5 Likes |

Damolaoj4: 1. You can find another care company and work with them but you have to inform your current employers. 2. Find another care company to sponsor (new COS) and apply for a new visa with the COS. https://www.gov.uk/health-care-worker-visa/taking-a-second-job 1 Like 1 Share |

Ama15: According to the link from gov.uk website I posted, it was NOT specified that only one of either Academic or General UKVI IELTS was acceptable for Health and Care Visa/Skilled Worker visa. Both are equally acceptable. The guideline on the British Council website is to guide those who intend to STUDY that only the Academic version will be accepted for their visa application. However, if you have any other evidence that says otherwise, kindly share so we may be enlightened. 1 Like |

Akp500: As long as you have been using the account for more than 6 months and it has your address on it, yes you can. But its best to use an account that shows regular usage to avoid suspicion. As for the newspaper publication, I cannot give an answer to that. Check online for the contact details of any newspaper company of your choice (preferably PUNCH) and call them for more information. God bless you too |

Akp500: This situation is a bit tricky but I'll provide the following suggestions: Ask your wife to change the address of her own bank account to your address and both of you should print and submit bank statements for at least, the last 3-6 months. You can add electricity bills and any other bills that has your name and address. Newspaper publication of change of name might be useful if you have not done that already. You may also want to write a letter to them, letting them know that you and your wife are newly married and have not lived together before marriage as it is against Nigerian customs for couples to co-habit before marriage. I will stop here and allow others contribute. I hope this will be helpful and wish you the best 2 Likes 1 Share |

Generalkoke: Hello. Did you send the email to your employer as I suggested in my last response to you? What was their response? It is ILLEGAL for them to ask you to pay money for tax when you have not even been paid. TAX is to be paid on the money you EARN. If you have done all I asked you to do in my last reply to you and they continually refuse to give you a job, you have 2 options: 1. Report to the Home Office and let them know what your experience has been. Let them know that you are struggling to survive since you haven't started working not to talk of being paid. 2. Start looking for another job aggressively. Target NHS organisations around you. They are very much in need of care workers and will happily recruit you and give you a new COS. Wishing you all the very best and I hope this helps 3 Likes |

eniola1010: 1. You still need to fulfil the 70 points needed to apply for skilled worker visa. 50 points come from getting a job which meets the shortage occupation criteria, while you get 20 points for passing an English language test or proving your proficiency in English language. I am struggling to find the reference on the UK government website but if you can do your research, you will find the information on gov.uk 2. NO |

chy55: £250-500 should be enough for you till you start earning (that is with the assumption that accommodation is settled already). If you're a lady, you may tend towards £500. As soon as you arrive, get a SIM card, download Monzo or Revolut app, create an account and you should get your debit card between 3-7 days (Monzo card is free, Revolut card is not). If you have a dom account in Nigeria, you can use the card here as well but you may have to pay extra charges on withdrawals. You can create account with traditional banks when you're settled. I hope that helps 9 Likes 1 Share |
