NHS people, how long did it take from getting a conditional offer to start date?

Is it okay to email or phone HR for an update?

As long as they want to. Depending on how urgently they need you. Just ensure you complete all your tasks and 'exercise' patience. Your CoS will not pass you

Please, for someone who came to the UK as a dependant to a skilled worker but got to the UK and wants to switch his visa to a sponsored skilled worker (HCA), will a English language proficiency test result be required.

Note: he hasn't submitted any English language proficiency test before for any visa application

Also, can he use the DBS check done by his present employer as the police check?

Lastly, will tuberculosis test be required for applications within the UK

Thank you

Nigeria is no longer part of the list
Let’s inform people quick before agents start duping people from Nigeria…

Please make sure you get informed before making any move. Things are different now

Are you sure you checked well? Nigeria is still very much on the list.

The implication of the list is that recruitment agencies cannot recruit health workers from Nigeria to the UK. Direct application is still very much valid.

some said I would be matreated , called different names as am black, and the people I would be working for or caring for would spit on me and do all sort of things

What you have heard may be true. I know someone close to me who has experienced this. Whatever you choose to do depends on what motivates you. This person will never stop doing care work because of how much she has made from the job over the years and still making. But be advised that the UK is a very big country and people have different experiences so this cannot be the reality of everyone in Care job. So many people are finding it very convenient.

In my own opinion, I will advise that you prepare yourself mentally to face situations like this so if it comes, you will know how to face it and if you do not experience it, lucky you. However, if you do not have the mental capabilities to face those kind of situation, find another kind of job that suits you.

Tech jobs are one of the biggest, if not the biggest paying jobs in the UK. Learn a tech skill and start your process of migrating. People get jobs within one year of learning a skill.

I hope this helps

Search OANDA on Google. Use their currency converter. Add a few hundreds or thousands to cover for fluctuations.

Alternatively, use black market rate. You can never go wrong with it

Hi Fam, please I have some serious to ask.. I was the woman that got COS of 5 years... I'm at the stage of passing $604 visa fees.. My question is this:

After paying the visa fees of $604 will I still pay another money for biometrics because after that payment I will be directed to Tslcontact for biometric & photograph appointment..

Question 2, the uploading of docs is it not something one can do... Compress and upload accordingly instead of paying 12k300.

Please someone should educate me... Thanks fam

1. You do not pay any other fees aside your visa fee. However, there are value added services on TLScontact website which are OPTIONAL that you may need to pay for, should you decide to go for them.

2. You can upload your documents via the SELF-SERVICE option. However, if you make any mistake or omit any document after submission, you will have to pay for the ASSISTED SERVICE to correct it.

I hope this helps

Good Morning All.
I received my COS for 1year.
Should i reject it as I was expecting 3 or 5years.
These British people can be funny and one could be at their mercy within that 1year; What do you think?
Anyone been in this position?
Plus I have a family. cry

Just like advanceDNA has said, your employer reserves the right to apply for any desirable length of time on your CoS as they deem fit. However, it can always be renewed when its about to expire.

Whether you choose to reject it or not, is up to you, but be aware that the CoS you have is what a lot of people are begging/paying/praying for. In the event that your contract is not renewed, experience has shown that employers would rather employ someone who is already in the UK than employ someone from abroad.

The choice is yours

Hi guys.. a friend just got In to the UK and haven't started work with his employer cause no space for now. Will he be charge salary tax even when he is not receiving any salary for now ?

Taxation is not Rocket Science. You are ONLY taxed based on what you have EARNED with your National Insurance Number and if it meets the taxation threshold.

Example: My first 3 months in the UK was the last 3 months of the financial year and what I would earn within that period was not up to the taxation threshold (about £12,500) so I was not taxed for that period

Thanks for the response and suggestions in advance.

Do you plan to return to Nigeria after your trip? Do you have a return ticket? Are you going on a visit to the country you plan to go to?

If the answers to these questions is NO, PTA is not for you

Good day house been following this thread before I make a move.
My question is this, if a sponsored company doesn't have jobs and haven't communicated when such will be available. Can someone take a second job without starting first with the company who gave the CoS first.
Would that amount with UKVI as violation even if the sponsored company didn't have jobs yet.
Secondly, can someone with another company without having first to work with the main sponsor who brought them to the UK. Will a permission be needed from the main to switch or someone can apply directly even without working yet with the main sponsor.
Thanks.

1. You can find another care company and work with them but you have to inform your current employers.

2. Find another care company to sponsor (new COS) and apply for a new visa with the COS.

Good day house, please I'm to fill a post employment form given to me by my employer. In the health question, A yes or no question is asked about High blood pressure which I've had in the past but has been stable for months now. Should I declare the past issue or I should leave it as a No? Thank you all.

As long as it does not impact your ability to work, you don't need to declare. If it does affect your ability to work, then you need to declare.

As I stated, some professional bodies require the Academic. The UK’s Nursing & Midwifery Council is an example and state this on their website.

We're saying the same thing

It really depends on what you intend to do. For skilled worker (not Healthcare route) UKVI General will suffice (I’m a sponsor and my candidate did this test and I’m using an immigration lawyer to help me through this process). However, if you intend to go into healthcare that requires “professional registration” then some UK organisations may require UKVI Academic.

https://takeielts.britishcouncil.org/take-ielts/which-ielts-test/ukvi

According to the link from gov.uk website I posted, it was NOT specified that only one of either Academic or General UKVI IELTS was acceptable for Health and Care Visa/Skilled Worker visa. Both are equally acceptable. The guideline on the British Council website is to guide those who intend to STUDY that only the Academic version will be accepted for their visa application.

However, if you have any other evidence that says otherwise, kindly share so we may be enlightened.

Hello bro.pls I need your input. As regards this health care job, can one apply directly without agents? The rate they are calling is astronomical. I'm asking for a sister as she have been searching online for a while now. Does anyone know what sites to look at please?
She really need this

My only advise is to keep searching and keep applying. I do not believe in paying agent for COS whether genuine or fake. People have gotten and are still getting COS via direct application. Don't let anyone scam you.

I don't think so. The only accepted IELTS for skilled worker migration is IELTS UKVI General and can't be used for Academic Purpose. Also, The IELTS UKVI Academics is only for Academics and can't be used for Skilled worker migration.

THIS IS FALSE. Please do not mislead people. Follow this link for more information

They should only ask this 2 years proof from couples that are claiming civil partnership with no marriage certificate....

If they need to confirm genuineness of marriage they should take it up with the registry.....

God bless you sir for this.

We’re already working on changing her address on her bank account. Please can I submit a different bank statement from the one I used for POF (the one used for solely used for POF and doesn’t have enough transaction duration) but I have other banks with enough transactions.

Also, we’ve started working on the letter to best describe our customs and traditions regarding our marriage.

One more thing please, how long does it take for newspaper publication to come out?

We have just 10 days

As long as you have been using the account for more than 6 months and it has your address on it, yes you can. But its best to use an account that shows regular usage to avoid suspicion.

As for the newspaper publication, I cannot give an answer to that. Check online for the contact details of any newspaper company of your choice (preferably PUNCH) and call them for more information.

God bless you too

Good afternoon house and kudos to everyone dropping one or two advice on here 🙌🏽

Please, I am a silent reader here and I need help with my dependent’s visa application.

I just got my visa and plan to travel with my wife (we did biometric on different dates) but UKVI is asking for additional documents.

NB: We have been dating for over 2 years now but we don’t stay together. We officially got married on the 3rd of January (few days before I got my COS).

Documents initially uploaded

Marriage certificate (with our various parents home address)
POF
Police character (carrying her parents home address)
TB test (carrying her parents home address)
WhatsApp chat (date back to Jan 2021)
Random pictures together
Wedding photos

Please, find attached for the details of the mail sent by UKVI. I’m so confused on how else to demonstrate that we have a genuine relationship despite not staying in the same address over the years. Please help.

Thanks

This situation is a bit tricky but I'll provide the following suggestions:

Ask your wife to change the address of her own bank account to your address and both of you should print and submit bank statements for at least, the last 3-6 months. You can add electricity bills and any other bills that has your name and address. Newspaper publication of change of name might be useful if you have not done that already.

You may also want to write a letter to them, letting them know that you and your wife are newly married and have not lived together before marriage as it is against Nigerian customs for couples to co-habit before marriage. I will stop here and allow others contribute.

I hope this will be helpful and wish you the best

Dee1504 Uzland Have been in the Uk for two months my employer keeps posting me about job provision, with no certain start date in place infact I believe they have nothing no job to give..it’s two months now No steady income through my NI& tax ain’t being paid too..After complaining employer said I can pay 244pounds for them to pay the government my tax and my ni.with full salary slip issued in the process..Can the visa be revoked when salary is not flowing?

Hello. Did you send the email to your employer as I suggested in my last response to you? What was their response? It is ILLEGAL for them to ask you to pay money for tax when you have not even been paid. TAX is to be paid on the money you EARN. If you have done all I asked you to do in my last reply to you and they continually refuse to give you a job, you have 2 options:

1. Report to the Home Office and let them know what your experience has been. Let them know that you are struggling to survive since you haven't started working not to talk of being paid.

2. Start looking for another job aggressively. Target NHS organisations around you. They are very much in need of care workers and will happily recruit you and give you a new COS.

Wishing you all the very best and I hope this helps

Uzland and others. I just have few questions.

1) back in those days, to get skilled visa, you needed to earn 70 points, but recently on this thread no one talks of the 70 points anymore and even on the gov website i dont see anything about the points anymore, has it been abolished?

2) if someone finished from polytechnic but not uni. Can the poly degree suffice to stand for english proficiency?

1. You still need to fulfil the 70 points needed to apply for skilled worker visa. 50 points come from getting a job which meets the shortage occupation criteria, while you get 20 points for passing an English language test or proving your proficiency in English language. I am struggling to find the reference on the UK government website but if you can do your research, you will find the information on gov.uk

2. NO

Thanks for your explanation.

Does it mean that I can use Monzo or Revolut card to withdraw from my naira account? I am asking because that will be the only account where I will have fund.

Monzo and Revolut are banks like KUDA in Nigeria. Like somebody else suggested. Download Lemonade app to convert your naira to pounds and send to your pounds account.

Wow thank you for the info. I have already canceled any plans with those airlines even with their cheap fares. I plan to book with Turkish Airlines what do you advice? I know I do not need a transit visa but with the earthquake in Turkey I just don't want the flight to be cancelled cos I think people are avoiding booking with them. I plan to travel 23rd or 24th before the elections. Sorry about your passport experience.

Please anyone has a suggestion on Turkish Airlines and the situation with the earthquake in Turkey

Turkish Airlines flights stop over at Istanbul Airport which is very far from the earthquake epicentre. The only issues they have had recently is freezing weather and snow. Asides that, I know its a very good option because I used them. Qatar Airways is a fantastic option as well.

Please kindly advice me on the least amount of cash
someone (1 person) can have while traveling in case of
emergency.
Also those already in the UK, how do you normally make
withdrawals once you arrive before you settling in.
Do you use your normal cards from Nigeria or is there any
other means?

£250-500 should be enough for you till you start earning (that is with the assumption that accommodation is settled already). If you're a lady, you may tend towards £500.

As soon as you arrive, get a SIM card, download Monzo or Revolut app, create an account and you should get your debit card between 3-7 days (Monzo card is free, Revolut card is not). If you have a dom account in Nigeria, you can use the card here as well but you may have to pay extra charges on withdrawals. You can create account with traditional banks when you're settled.

I hope that helps
