Guys what's the danger of accepting a 3 year sponsorship offer? Even though the company says they will renew when due.

Bro, are you for real? You see 3 years CoS and you're still asking for clarification? Have you seen CoS of more than 3 years before? Better accept your thing and start preparing for your Visa appointment. Congratulations, by the way

Hello…..
During my UK visa application on 14th March, I uploaded a police clearance certificate that expired on 7th March and I have done my biometrics already on 16th.
It’s a skilled worker visa with CoS. Can this make my visa to be declined?
I’m really scared…….

It is 50/50. You can be denied because you submitted an invalid document which is against the visa application rules. Or you may be fortunate to meet a lenient Visa Officer who overlook it.

Either way, why would you risk wasting almost 200k visa application fee for something you can get for 10k max and it would be issued for you on the same day? You get mind sha

Let me share my experience with an NHS TRUST.

I applied to one trust that has Certificate of Sponsorship advertised in the role (the Per annum salary was over 21k pounds). I was shortlisted for an interview.
On the day of the interview, I specifically told the interview panel that I am NOT resident in the UK and would require a Certificate of Sponsorship if successful. They assured me that they were aware because it was mentioned in my application.
The interview lasted for more than 30 minutes with lots of drilling and questions flying up and down.

One week later, I received a conditional offer of employment which was even addressed to my Nigeria home address. I was so elated and danced to my "answered prayers".

I then noticed that part of my conditions was to provide my "right to work in the UK". I sent an email immediately and notified them that I would be needing a COS in order to apply for visa as earlier mentioned during my interview.

Boom! I received the shocker of my life, they cannot issue me a COS (that the healthcare assistant role I applied for is not eligible for sponsorship)
I was shocked to the bone marrow, I referred them to UKVI website with the necessary links to back up my facts.
They maintained that for NHS band 2 jobs, sponsorship cannot be issued as it does not meet the "going rate" on UKVI website irrespective of the salary.

After some days, the offer was withdrawn. I felt very bad and discouraged.

This particular experience taught me a lesson for NHS applications. It's clearly obvious they do not sponsor lower band jobs.

I have picked my broken pieces and moved on. I believe God that my YES is around the corner wink smiley

Sorry about your experience. A lot of NHS managers are not aware of this rule and they run foul of it. It was probably the HR personnel that called their attention to their goof before they realized. Just keep your hopes up. The fact that you got this one means that you're capable of even better.

That been said, please, always avoid applying for any jobs lower than Band 4 from Nigeria. They won't give CoS

They ask you to tell them about yourself
Why did you apply for the position and the skills you will be bringing to the team (this is where I would insert NHS values as part of my skills as not all of them will ask you directly).
They ask you how you have handled a difficult situation
They will also ask you to mention what you did when you made a mistake (this is tricky as I don't ever admit to making mistakes in my field. Odikwa risky. I let them know one of my skills is paying keen attention to details and asking questions when not clear, probing further to avoid misconstruing words or misinterpretations a situation. Then I consult senior colleague when I'm lost).
Give an example of you being a team player
A situation where you had to use initiative.
Question on confidentiality.
For care jobs, they ask you of safety procedures and what to do when fire alarm sounds (most often other don’t ask about fire alarm procedures).
They may also ask what you do to know care plan for service users
Importance of record taking

Always go through the attached documents for the job you are applying for.

The job description, individual requirements like skills you require for the position.

Also, try answering questions using the acronym STAR!

It is a four-step technique for answering questions about past behaviors at work:

1. Situation: Describe the situation or set the scene.
2. Task: Describe the issue or problem you were confronted with.
3. Action: Describe the action you took to intervene in the situation or solve the problem.
4. Results: the outcome

They will ask how the de-stress and what difficulties you have faced in a role plus how you handled it.

What working with other people is like.

Your strengths and weaknesses.

Personal opinion: When I interviewed (at least the ones I got offers for) after they ask me to introduce myself, I go don talk and answer like 4 - 5 of the questions they have for me already. So if your interview is meant to last 30 min and you finish in like 10-15min (knowing well you sold yourself), rest assured you did well. But if E drag reach 30 min, then the interviewers are likely giving you enough chance to answer the interview questions well to be considered for the position.

You have said it all. Thanks for this

I only know about tech. Please health people kindly assist with any information. I can make research just give me a hint then I will do the rest. Thank you

Public health is quite difficult to practice in the UK if you do not have a Medical degree. The role she is qualified for depends on what experience and what other qualifications she has.

If she has experience working in the hospital in a care role, then she can go for healthcare assistant/social worker jobs

I don't know if anyone has had any experience with any of this. I was supposed to get my passport today and waited all day only for me to receive a text message and an email from DHL that I was not at home.

While tracking my package, I noticed that it was delivered to a third party agent!

No number called me. No one knocked at my gate.

Does anyone know the next step?

Call or send them an email immediately. They are supposed to call you as soon as they got to your address.

my man @dee.. thanks taking time responding to me sir.. ..

i already knew all those u.k-medical-doctor-protocols.. i was skipping all that.. and asking if i needed IELTS for skilled worker applications.. and if i needed to ALSO evaluate my documents on ECCTIS.. ?? despite getting the IELTS?

other questions , if thats ok, please,

The TUBERCULOSIS test, .. are there designated centres for that?? or could i get it from anywhere and its gonn be acceptable?

The police clearance report, could i get that from any police station & it will suffice ??

they (the company) asking for covid test too.. could i get it from anywere??. and its all good?..

please respond sir...

thank you kindly..

1. One of the two. Either IELTS or ECCTIS.

2. TB test is done in only 2 approved centres by UKVI: IOM Lagos and IOM Abuja

3. Police Clearance can only be obtained at Alagbon. The farther you are from Alagbon, the higher the amount it will cost you. Best bet is to go to Alagbon or find a sure plug to do it for you at a cheap rate.

4. Approved COVID test centres

I hope this helps

Guys, I'm in a bit of a fix abeg. My name was spelt incorrectly on my degree certificate. I tried to correct it some eight years back, but my school frustrated the life out of me and so I left them to God, but continued my life with a sworn affidavit. Now I don't know if it can be uploaded to Naric like that, with an affidavit...is it doable and will Naric answer me? Someone told me Oyinbo school applications accommodate such, but I don't know about Naric...

PS: I've tried to reconnect with my school, but "the person" is charging 45k. That will go a long way in the Naric process...

Again, please what relationship does my name on Certificate has to do with the medium of instruction letter? Isn't it typed by the school officials? Even my transcripts have the correct name, but he insists that the name on the degree would need to be changed?

If you have the means to have it corrected, please do. If not, the affidavit is okay. You can start the application with it. The worst response is that they will tell you that the affidavit cannot be used.

Will getting work be easy?, Same as work visa

If you're qualified as a Dietician, search for Dietician jobs and check the requirements to secure the job.

If you're not qualified as a Dietician, then your best option is the Social Worker/Health care assistant route. For more information on that, start reading the thread from page 1.

✅BECOMING A REGISTERED SOCIAL WORKER IN THE UK: EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW by Sophiat Damola Omidiwura & Logan.

Social work is a regulated profession. This means that to be able to practise as a social worker in the UK, individuals must be registered with Social Work England (SWE) -- not HCPC. Once registered, all social workers are listed on the Social Work England public register.

To register with Social Work England, you need the following:

1. An approved degree or diploma or postgraduate programme in social work
2. English proficiency test (IELTS) where band score for each part of the test must not be less than 6.5 with an overall band score of 7
3. A C.V: You will need to show that you have an understanding of social work and experience of working with clients. This can be from paid or voluntary work.
4. Academic Transcript
5. Proof of identity: Certified copy of your Passport
6. Proof of address such as bank statement or light bill
7. SWE Course information form completed and certified by your university

Once you have all these documents ready, certify them as they should and submit ONLINE. Yes, application is done online. You do not have to post them. So make sure you submit everything they ask of you the first time

The international application route exists for applicants that have completed professional training outside of the UK. As someone who meets this criteria, you may be thinking about how to apply via the international route or where to access the international application forms. So this is where Sophia comes in.

Sophiat Damola Omidiwura is a SWE registered social worker who studied in Nigeria. She shares her story whilst providing insight into the SWE international application process and offering helpful tips and advice for anyone considering applying for SWE registration via this route.

▫️How I embarked on my international application for SWE registration

Hello guys I've just been registered with Social Work England and it wasn't really easy -- these guys are really thorough with their scrutiny.

I got to know about SWE from a friend last year and first thing I did was to Google them up to get their requirements as an international applicant. So it led me to their Website (www.socialworkengland.org.uk)

I read through it and realized I had to do IELTS to prove my knowledge of English, it is not applicable to everyone but none of the other options is applicable to me so I chose IELTS (academic) where its requires that each band is nothing less than 6.5 and an overall band 7.

After practicing and writing my IELTS I passed with overall 7.5 but I had 6.5 in my writing section such a narrow escape for me.

I must emphasise that it's important that you go through the website before applying. Some of the requirements are Course Information Form which should be filled by your university -- must be TYPED STAMPED and SIGNED by a staff of your department. I literally met with one of my lecturers in school then and he did it for me.

I also printed out COLOUR COPIES of my documents, its compulsorily so (no black and white copies will be accepted) they won't take any other copies because when i started my application and i was asked to upload my certified documents i uploaded it but the machine changed its original colors to almost blue so i was asked to resend it all, got it certified by a known person in the community. I chose a provost that i know who helped me to certify them. It can be certified by a teacher, banker, lawyer, lecturer, or even your HOD. Just someone that has an official email and stamp.

After getting all of my documents (Bsc certificate, C.V, Transcript, International passport, professional license, Statement of account not more than 3 months, Waec and IELTS academic) ready, I decided to start my registration.

#HCPCRegistrationGuide

▫️The process of submitting my application

I started my registration on December 29th, 2021 after creating an online account with SWE, I filled in my personal details, education, knowledge of English, DBS check, disability check etc.

▫️The time it take takes to process the application

After submitting my application I received my scrutiny payment link immediately by online account message and email too. I had to pay within a short time frame or I will have to start my application all over again. I paid on December 31st, 2021.

I asked someone in the UK to help me with the payment of £495 and sent naira equivalent. After the payment it was acknowledged almost immediately.

Few days later on January 13th,2022 I received a mail requesting my certified documents as I explained earlier that the first ones I sent has colour issues, please it is specifically stated that the documents should be COLOUR copies do not print otherwise, and it must be certified or notarized on the correct page holding the information on the certificates.

They requested my documents, OFFICIAL email of my university, employer and professional body which must be sent within a time frame. I sent it and they contacted the three of them(employer, professional body and school). Please make sure to call ahead and confirm their contact details and also inform them about what you want to do because my professional body had a strong head man feeling himsel and asking me stupid questions if I was sure I'm a social worker. Same person I paid my registration money to.

Long story short: The three of them replied the mail from SWE and I was asked to provide a reference letter from an employer and also write a professional standards letter to prove that I am qualified to be registered with them. I made use of their professional standards and wrote them a letter relating well with my experiences and what I can offer the society if I am considered to be registered with the body. After sending these 2 documents as PDF I received a mail that it has been sent for processing on February 3rd, 2022.

After a while, I got curious and sent them a mail after weeks of not hearing from them. They responded that they're working on it.

On the 3rd of March, I received an email to pay for registration -- payment of £67 because the registration cycle already started since December. Originally I was to pay £90 for a full cycle. I made a card payment on March 7th, 2022 through my UK contact and I received my Registration Number immediately.

It was worth the wait and I will not encourage you to give up halfway. Congratulations are in order for you as you begin your step to register with SWE. Goodluck!

MY TOP TIPS:

▫️Never print your documents in black and white copies. Colour copies are the only acceptable copies
▫️It’s always a good idea to keep in touch with your referees, professional body and school and request them to respond to the email from SWE promptly
▫️Make sure you provide a valid email address, as all the communication regarding the application is done over email
▫️On their website they requested police report, but I didn't submit any so I guess its not compulsory. I also used statement of account downloaded from email so no need of going to the bank.

@emike92..
good day,
i hope you get to read this sir.. or if anyone would respond, please ,

only a few questions, if thats ok?.. thanks..

so i graduated with a medical-school degree overseas, im asking, for the u.k skilled worker visa application,
1, do you think i need to sit for the IELTS ? .. OR..
2, do i EVEN need to send my medical degree on the Ecctis website for evaluation ? and that will be enough to prove i already studied a major course overseas in english language .. ?

SIDE-NOTE.. ...
i also have a proof from the university i attended, saying that all my medical studies was conducted in english language.. so, lets say i evaluate my medical degree/diploma on the Ecctis website, will it suffice? or will they STILL need that IELTS exam proof before granting me that visa...?

cos on the website gov.uk, .. it says a lot of things , .. proof of knowledge of english , .. then it also says your UK PhD certificate, or your unique Ecctis reference number (formerly unique UK NARIC reference number) if your qualification is from outside the UK - you’ll need to apply through Ecctis . . . ( But i guess thats ONLY for the PHD HOLDERS right sir ??)

it also says,
If you’re a doctor, dentist, nurse, midwife or vet
You DO NOT need to prove your knowledge of English if you’ve already passed an English Language assessment that is accepted by the relevant regulated professional body.
If you’re a vet, you may need to prove that you passed an English Language assessment with the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons.

im not sure what to make of this, please if you may respond, it will be appreciated .... let me know where i stand ..
i thank you kindly sir..

Hello,

As a Medical doctor in Nigeria, these are the steps to follow to get a job in the UK:

1. Write IELTS and pass
2. Write Plab 1 and pass
3. Pass Plab 2 and Write Plab 2
4. Pass plab 2, confirm your registration with MDCN is up to date
Ask for Certificate of Good standing to be sent to GMC
4. Register with GMC
5. Start Job applications
6.Secure a Job and apply for VISA
7. Come to the UK

I do not know the country you graduated from so I cannot say if the same rules apply but you can check the GMC website for more information. You can also check if the IELTS can be substituted with ECCTIS certificate for you to write PLAB 1 but I am sure you can use ECCTIS for visa application.

It was an Interview.

I think that Laura girl intentionally was asking hard questions.

Give me an example of when you handled this, give me an example of how you handled this patient.

She won't ask you if you have encountered such patients or not. She assumed you have had such patients.

I know it's a sin in interviews to answer "I don't know", so, i was just cooking up on the spot stories.

To make matters worse, a girl called and my network ceased and refused to come back. They ended the video chat from their end. I called Laura and she said she's already attending to other candidates and can't go back to the video chat again that she will send all of us email in the evening.

I got an unsuccessful email yesterday around 4pm
.

The interview lasted for 31 minutes

1. Well, before you give up, this is a picture of my dashboard before I got my job. So, I'll just encourage you to keep pushing.

2. I have said it before on this page that NHS and other care home are looking for people with EXPERIENCE, that is why they keep bringing up scenarios. If you don't have the requisite experience, you can just forget about getting the job. Mine was a Band 6 job so you can imagine how tricky and technical the questions were but I scaled through. After I got the job, that's when they even asked if I had a B.Sc. This is your cue to find hospitals and care homes to get your experience from or better still learn a lot from other people's experience. Hopefully, something good comes soon. Bonus tip: These guys conducting the interviews have YEARS of experience on the job and in interviewing people so they can smell a lie in your statements easily.

3. I once spoke against using your phone or phone's network to do an interview on this thread but people kept bring up evidences against what I said. I hope it is clear now. If you cannot use the DND feature on your phone, please get a new SIM card or buy a modem for internet connectivity and ensure that your call lines are deactivated before any interview. 1 hour of switching of your lines will not kill you. And please, ALWAYS USE A LAPTOP WITH A GOOD WEBCAM FOR INTERVIEWS. Not only is it convenient, it says a lot about your PROFESSIONALISM.

In any case where the hospital does not have an official email address (Bleep@companyname.com), you can use their official gmail address but your reference will have to send his/her official ID card + employment letter/promotion letter (must be on official letter-headed paper signed and stamped with the official stamp by the head of the organisation or HR). I love the that this thread is very interactive. I have read through and I can say you are all doing well.

I have a few questions please and I would your response. If one should go through this route, can one enrol for a part-time study while doing the care support?

The other question is that, can I decide to change to a proper skilled job after a year or two of care support in a health?

Does healthcare support offer one a time to do freelancing work online, considering that one can be assigned a shift with no enough notice?

I will come back for answers. Thank you

The answer to all your questions is YES. As long as you are focused on what you want, you can do anything.

As for your last question, you need to consider your work hours before taking other jobs cos if you're meant to be at a job within a particular time, whether there is work to do or not, you must be there. You also need to plan your schedule well to avoid overworking yourself.

I hope this helps.

Hello,

Please apart from cos, tuberculosis test, police certificate, uk degree (proof of english), what other documents should I submit for my visa application?

Please I need answers, thanks in advance.

You can submit your Scanned passport page and Visa application form too. It may not be in your checklist but it could boost your chances of a speedy approval. You can not err on the side of surplus. No need to submit care certificate or the likes if you were not asked to do so.

Hello please help me understand the 31days. If you usually have more than what you need as pof in the account, does that affect the 31 days? Or the 31 days is just for the statement of account. Meaning you need to print a new one after 31 days. Thank you

You can print you statement of account on or after day 28 but you must use it within 31 days after printing it. The PoF can be above the stipulated amount but MUST NOT fall below it, at any point during the 28 days. If you don't use the statement of account after 31 days, you must print a new one.

1. You can apply at anytime as long as her CoS is still valid. Whenever your visa is ready, you can travel with it but not later than 3 months after your visa is issued.

2. The money must be in your account for 28 days. The day you deposit the COMPLETE money is Day 0. You must use the statement of account not later than 31 days after the PoF matures i.e Day 28 becomes day 0 of the 31 days.

I hope that helps

For NHS applications...please advice these docs that one should have handy when filling d forms..are you expected to have Ur IELTS results b4 applying?

No need for IELTS before interview with NHS. It's only needed for visa application. Just ensure that you have all the qualification certificates you claim you have during application. You will only be asked for them after your application is successful.

Please during the process of your cos by your employer were you requested to submit some documents for the process? And if yes, what did they requested for?

Congratulations to you

It varies from different Trusts but you will need to present the following at least: Certificates, Transcripts, Proof of identity and Police certificate

Please do you mean that an employer will pay 3000£ to generate CoS to sponsor a person for a 3 years contract?

You guys need to calm down with the rush for Certificate of Sponsorship. As long as you have been offered the job and you have accepted, CoS will eventually come. My CoS came after 4 months of accepting the offer because they wanted to conclude all the necessary checks.

All you need to do is start preparing all other documents needed to apply for Visa, especially PoF, should in case your sponsor does not provide maintenance.

If you have had an interview and you haven't gotten a response, wait for 1 (or 2) week(s), then send a follow up email. You should get a response to know where you stand.
