Yes, I agree he is not competent. Bit let us realize our past mistake. We were so eager to get rid of GEJ that we hailed this regime so much when they came in.

Let us stop hailing people with no records of solid performance and let also stop hailing people with terrible bad records.

We should be making a shortlist if those not to vote for.....PMB, Atiku, Duke and co should go and rest. We have only known Fela to be a motivational speaker.....I wonder how that will translate to good governance...as they say - talk is cheap!

If we can get rid of corrupt and incompetent people in every level of government, then politicians will start taking the people serious!

The case with Nigerian ports is pathetic.

They are handling fewer volumes than before but are taking longer time to do so. This is a huge cost to the consuming public as port delays lead to higher charges and will be ultimately paid for by the consuming public.

It takes between 24 and 72 hours to clear cargoes in Cotonou and Lome. There they measure in hours, like any other good port in the world. In Nigeria, we measure in weeks. it takes anything from 2 weeks to 7 weeks (or 7 weeks plus) to clear goods in Nigeria.

It is one of the worst port records in the world!

I wonder how our government has looked away from what is considered the gateway to the economy.

The delay starts with the ports who will take 2-3 days to stack the full containers.

The shipping companies have grown wings in this regime. They will take anything from 3-7 days just to create invoices. They make demurrage income by causing these delays. They sometimes put wrong details in their records and make you pay for it, in the form of amendment costs, which can also cause another 3 days.

Then you go to wait for another invoice from the terminals. And the story goes on!

Some of the invoices are created in India (by outsourcing) and they can tell you there is nothing they can do to hasten the process.

Meanwhile, our government agencies look away. They are also too interested in making their own incomes and have less interest in the process.

Then delay with Customs, delay with SON and so on. When you finish with all the bottlenecks in the ports you now face the Apapa transport gridlock that has now lasted more than 5 whole years. We are such an unserious bunch of people!

The last time anyone tried to change the system was when Okonjo Iweala forced several changes. Since then the lackadaisical approach has returned.

The government needs real professionals to sit and review the process. Their fraternal approach of employing incompetent townsmen has not solved the problem. Shipper's Council is seen to be ineffective.

Our ports can earn as good as crude oil if we do our homework. Dubai and Singapore economies became world economies because of their ports. New York Port is so rich that it owns a lot of the posh properties in Manhattan.

When are we going to wake from this slumber, or is it a coma? Even Niger is now sidelining us!

Wake up, Nigeria.

I really think Nigeria deserves better at this stage.

I think people should look beyond the old politicians.

Maybe the best candidate for president is in one other party apart from PDP and APC.

You have changed your voice. This wasn't your initial statement. You were trying to compare Nigerian system of education with that of the US. And that was why I countered you. Before you say we should pay 1m here because Americans are paying 1m as school fees, consider the gap between the minimum wages of the two countries. That was what I was saying.

I didn't even champion increment in the minimum wage. Because I know that's not sustainable. Even the current 18k, majority of the states are not paying it. I was only saying the cost basic amenities should reflect the income of the common man.

My advice when it comes to education in Nigeria;
1. People should be discouraged from going to school to study non-bankable courses. Courses like zoology, biochemistry, arts, history, public administration, business administration, botany are useless. Even the universities that teach these course know it, but they have to make their money by means of collecting acceptance fee, school fees, convocation fees, etc.

2. More Nigerians should be encouraged to take up vocational endeavors.

3. Only people who are going to study courses that require licensure should go to universities.

4. The education system here needs a total overhaul.

I partially agree.

If you shut out these courses you will create another huge problem. As we speak research is so low in Nigeria and for any country to breakthrough that country must be strong in sciences and in research. To cut off core sciences will create another problem in the long run!

Which bank will give loans for tuition when they know there is massive unemployment of graduates in the land?

What kind of committee will propose this kind of hike?

They want to shut the poor out of university education finally!

APC will be history in Lagos!

The people of Lagos must suspend APC for he next 4 years, Ambode or no Ambode!
