One of the US Doctors who is receiving treatment for #Ebola has released a statement. Statement “I am writing this update from my isolation room at Emory University Hospital, where the doctors and nurses are providing the very best care possible. I am growing stronger every day, and I thank God for His mercy as I have wrestled with this terrible disease. I also want to extend my deep and sincere thanks to all of you who have been praying for my recovery as well as for Nancy and for the people of Liberia and West Africa. “My wife Amber and I, along with our two children, did not move to Liberia for the specific purpose of fighting Ebola. We went to Liberia because we believe God called us to serve Him at ELWA Hospital." “One thing I have learned is that following God often leads us to unexpected places. When Ebola spread into Liberia, my usual hospital work turned more and more toward treating the increasing number of Ebola patients. I held the hands of countless individuals as this terrible disease took their lives away from them. I witnessed the horror first-hand, and I can still remember every face and name. “When I started feeling ill on that Wednesday morning, I immediately isolated myself until the test confirmed my diagnosis three days later. When the result was positive, I remember a deep sense of peace that was beyond all understanding. God was reminding me of what He had taught me years ago, that He will give me everything I need to be faithful to Him. “Now it is two weeks later, and I am in a totally different setting. My focus, however, remains the same - to follow God. As you continue to pray for Nancy and me, yes, please pray for our recovery. More importantly, pray that we would be faithful to God’s call on our lives in these new circumstances.” http://www.nigerianbulletin.com/threads/ebola-us-doctor-releases-statement-from-hospital-says-thanks-and-ask-for-prayers.87789/

Notable elders of the ruling People’s Democratic Party (PDP) are no longer glossing over the raging crisis in the party. And they have put the blame for the turbulence in the party on President Goodluck Jonathan, whom they accused of failing to show a mastering of intra-party crisis management. Consequently, the elders who are mostly founding fathers of the party, said the defection that has swept across the PDP within a month, had shown that something urgent must be done to save the party form total collapse. LEADERSHIP Sunday learnt that among the options being considered by the founding fathers is to stop Jonathan from flying the PDP flag in the 2015 presidential election. According to them, this is the most feasible way of keeping the party afloat at the centre and building confidence in those that have left or plan to leave to return and remain in the PDP. Lately, the PDP has faced a formidable challenge from the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC) as the party, formed barely six months ago, has become the entry point for aggrieved members of the ruling party. Five PDP governors and 37 members of the House of Representatives have so far dumped the PDP have dumped for the APC. With the development, APC has clinched the majority seats in the Lower Chamber with 172 to PDP’s 171. Worried by these developments, the concerned party elders, LEADERSHIP Sunday learnt have resolved to “advise” President Jonathan to opt out of the 2015 presidential race to “save the PDP from being disgraced out of office.” A founding father of the PDP confided in our correspondent last night that the challenges faced by the party were due to the refusal of the presidency and the PDP hierarchy to accept certain critical decisions taken to salvage the party. According to him, two things now pose challenges to the PDP - allowing President Jonathan to contest and “lose the election in the face of the current crisis and advising him to step aside and search for a credible successor to re-bounce the party to its former position.” He said: “All these things that are happening now some of us predicted them long time ago, especially before the ranks of the PDP governors split just before the Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF’s) election because we saw it all coming and we warned against some actions, but some of us were taken as enemies who wanted someone out of office either as chairman or whatever. “I can tell you authoritatively that as things are now, drastic measures have to be taken to save the party and no one should be scared to say the truth because our refusal to say the truth has largely been responsible for where we have found ourselves. “If you look at the demands of the G-7 governors, two things were very topical - and that is the resignation of Tukur as national chairman of the PDP and that the president should not contest. “The view of some of us was that we should pick one of the two and sacrifice one for the other, but all our pleas have always fallen on deaf ears because of the lust for lies on the part of some of our members who misinterpret issues as they arise,” he said. The elder continued: “Now before our very eyes, five governors have abandoned the party; as if that is not enough, 37 lawmakers have also defected. Can we still say we don’t have problems in the party? The only way out of this debacle is for us to come out courageous and say the truth as things have reached a point that any measure to save the party should be seen as important as saving the ambition of an individual. “The only way for us to come out strong as a party is to humbly advise the president to save the PDP from being disgraced in 2015 because what is happening now is like a wild fire that might not extinguish easily unless we take steps to make some painful sacrifices to save the party,” he said. The source, who is a pro-Jonathan party elder, said some selected elders of the PDP would have audience with President Jonathan shortly after the New Year and explore the possibilities of having him to consider their position. LEADERSHIP Sunday learnt that once the president acceded to the position of the elders, a subtle search for a successor would commence in earnest. Among those in the new clamour, which the source, called Third Force, are a former Senate president, a former minister and some members of the PDP Board of Trustees (BoT). Mopolchi: Maths: 25. To determine x, U have to consider components of each side of the ratio respectively: 2x=3 & (x+1)=2. To get x, 2 will crossover the equal sign and it will now be: x=3-2, so x is 1. When U put 1 in the other equation, it become (1+1)=2. The ans is 1 (b).Maths 25. To determine x, If 2x : (x+1) =3:2 Dis can also b 2x/(x+1)=3/2 Cros multiplication 2x(2)=(x+1)3 4x=3x+3 Collecting like terms 4x-3x=3 X=3 D answer is 'd' |

The New Peoples Democratic Party has threatened to make public the document signed by President Goodluck Jonathan, in which he allegedly agreed to serve only one term in office as the President of the country. The National Publicity Secretary of the PDP faction, Mr. Chukwuemeka Eze, told our correspondent on the telephone in Abuja on Friday, that the agreement would be made public as soon as the President declared his intention to run for a second term. Jonathan had, during the Presidential Media Chat last Sunday, challenged the New PDP to prove that he agreed to a one-term tenure by publishing the agreement. Eze said, “When he decides to contest and the party directs accordingly, all the facts relating to his signing any document or making any promise that he would serve one single tenure would then come to the fore.” Eze said the President would one day realise that he was surrounded by enemies, adding that by that time, it would be too late for the President to correct his mistakes. He said, “This crisis (in the PDP) is orchestrated by some people in Jonathan’s cabinet and some of his aides. Most of these people apart from being opportunists don’t know what it is to serve the people. “Instead, their pockets are what matter to them and in order to achieve their selfish agenda, they are ready to do anything to block anybody with sound ideas on how to improve our country. “Sadly, Mr. President gives them much room to operate and they have succeeded in ruining his plans for the country and succeeded in creating more enemies for Mr. President than friends. “I don’t want to mention names here but most of the people with President Jonathan are more of his enemies than his friends. He will eventually realise this when it is very late.” Special Adviser to the President on Political Matters, Mr. Ahmed Gulak however insisted that there was no one-term pact in existence. According to him, the New PDP may forge a document just to prove a point. He said, “We have debunked this claim. We challenged them eight months ago and we are still challenging them. Even if it means forging it, let them bring it for us to see.” http://www.punchng.com/news/one-term-pact-presidency-new-pdp-clash-again/ |
