AMINDA: That was very unnecessary from Tuggar. No need to be on the defensive even before the interview is aired. The inexperience continue to manifest. Nigerian politicians are not used to media scrutiny and drilling. They see it as an attack. The downsides of having a compromised and captured media in-country. + Hmmmmm . . . . . On this one I understand why Tuggar would pre-emptively insist. Because if indeed Piers was referring to the "Chibok boys" that is grounds to show his scant knowledge of the history of this matter. At the level of psychological combat the Minister would want that to be clear - namely that some of those either "poke-nosing" or adopting a judgmental stance as per happenings here, are really quite ignorant of happenings here. What I have just said does not mean that I agree or disagree that there is Christian genocide please. Neither is it an opinion on whether or not there should be foreign intervention. Disclaimer: I havent heard Piers "poke-nosing" on this matter. |

OBJECTIVITY4ALL: Questioning the Culture of Disrespect Toward Public Officials
It is difficult to comprehend how some individuals can celebrate or ignore acts of blatant disrespect toward a Minister of the Federal Republic. The office of a minister represents the authority of the federal government and, by extension, the President. Such disregard for due process and constituted authority undermines not only the individual in office but also the institutions they represent.
One must ask: under what military or administrative provision does a naval officer—retired or otherwise—assume the role of a guide in facilitating an illegal land purchase? This act, by every legal and ethical standard, is questionable and unacceptable.
Even more concerning is the attitude of the superior officer, who, after being presented with clear facts about the illegality of the land transaction, appeared reluctant to engage directly with the Minister on the matter. Such conduct raises serious questions about discipline, accountability, and respect for civil authority.
At this point, Nigerians must reflect deeply. Are we responding to these issues with reason and fairness, or are we allowing emotions and biases to cloud our judgment? Respect for lawful authority remains a cornerstone of order and governance, and it must not be compromised for sentiment or convenience. + All this in defense of the one man in Nigeria who respects no one and is rude to and insults everyone? |

Kukutente23: Wike allocated lands of 2000 hectares to his kids. He revoked Abuja university land. He instigated crisis in Rivers state that got the gov illegally suspended. He locked PDP secretariat on a phantom ground rent issue. He is using the courts to scuttle PDP convention. I can go on and on + This kind of thing makes one tired. How can anyone seriously ask how Wike has abused his position in this country? Anyway, people will ask anything. |

Some of you on Social Media - are just too Funny, Biases -due to loss of your Elections by your Party! + How weird. Many of you dont know the simple protocol of these things. Every Service Chief (and all top tier officers such as Generals by the way) is given a detachment of guards for life, after retirement, for the protection of themselves, their families and their assets. The actions of those guards are supervised by serving senior officers. This is standard protocol. |

The United CEO case however is unique and wasnt about being a hero to any left, but I will not bother because speaking to you takes the energy that speaking to a three year old does. You will forget that easy access to guns is something the same left has been trying to work against forever while your conservative friends resist. hotseat: One begins to wonder whether being a military personnel gives one the authority to be above the laws of the land.
The laws governing land use in the FCT cuts across all and sundry, irrespective of one's status in society.
Since Wike became the FCT Minister, he has insisted on having things done in the proper way but, this has not gone down well with the very rich and mighty people.
They would rather wish to maintain the status quo where impunity reign supreme.
Wike may be criticized for his brashness but, a drastic situation, they say, requires a drastic solution.
Come to think of it, does Wike, being the Minister of the FCT, require the permission and authorization of the Defense Minister, Matawale, for him to do his job?
Is it because a retired naval chief is involved?
How many times has Wike sought his permission and authorization since he has been doing his job for which he was appointed?
Nigerians must not let their hatred for Wike blind them to the facts.
In a true democracy, the military is bound to abide by all rules and regulations and comply to civilian authority.
This is what marks a civilian rule from a military rule where the gun is mightier than the pen.
@hotseat + Did I just hear you say that Wike has been insisting on things being done the proper way? Are you living under a rock? |
