Lamenting indeed. You come across as tone deaf. The fact remains that Italy were on the wrong side in both wars. End of story. If anyone chooses to defend Italy and you think it si noble, then you should also consider it noble if anyone defends Osama Bin Laden or Alqaeda or Taliban afterall they are also representative of some sociopolitical ideologies

That said, you never proved anything on royal We's existence in Arabia before Muhammad. You were just rambling aimlessly as usual.

You're pretty cocky for one who was lamenting the tragedy and wickedness of Italy's invasion of Sweden less than 24 hours ago.

PPS: The point was always simple: I was explaining to you how people stand up for their countries even in difficult situations. I was showing you that people with a sense of a certain nobility and solidarity do that. If that is beyond you, that is not my cup of tea.

Look, I've had it with your tantrums and petulance like a disturbed child. Anyone can make a mistake and if you had any serious point you should have made it known instead of all the baseless and inchoate ramblings you've been making since.
You just goofed now by claiming Mussolini was not there in the first world war. Are you now going to accept that you also lack honour, integrity and humility for not realizing that Mussolini was among the few politicians in Italy who advocated for the participation of Italy in the war and even joined the Italian military.
There's nothing to be sorry for. I admitted I made a mistake and as far as I know it has caused you no injury so you either move along or bring the stupidity you're beginning to exhibit in full glare and let me help you cure it. You're the clown who claimed "We" in the quran is for royal We. I corrected you without any sanctimonious posturing.
If you're so immature to think making a mistake in facts of history call for depredation, then you need to have your head checked.
Pathetic. Enjoy.

PS: Mussolini was not leader of Italy during WW1. If you mean he was alive or fought in the war that's obviously a different thing and has no bearing on your claims of his deeds.

I don't owe you anything. You misled me. I know Italy invaded some countries so when your story was that an Italian defended his country's role to a Swedish, I assumed Sweden must have been one of the countries invaded. I'm not an encyclopedia to have knowledge of everything. Italy invaded a good number of countries.

Italy fought against for its own interests in both wars. It does not matter whose side they were on or not. It had a pact with Germany before the war but broke the pact in a bid to fight for annexation of territories they wanted. I don't now how that is inconsistent ideology except you don't know what ideology means
1. You have no honour
2. You lack integrity
3. You lack humility
4. You read into text things neither said nor inferred.

Saying that a Swedish Colleague commented on Italy's role in the World Wars could never suggest to anyone that Italy invaded Sweden.

What is most irksome also is that even after I warned you that I didn't say that, you went and produced a quote which didn't say or infer that and insisted still.

The only thing that made you back down was when you realized that no such thing had happened in history and also that Sweden didn't even participate in the world wars.

"World Wars".... This was the phrase used. And yet you presumed that one was referring to Mussolini. Notwithstanding that he was not there in the first world war. You even went so far as to say that I was defending Mussolini. At the peak of your comic idiocy you even spoke about how tragic Italy's invasion of Sweden must have been!

You ought to be ashamed not just of all of this, but worse, of the fact that you are so stiff necked that you can't say, "ooops my bad - sorry I got that wrong." Being able to do that confers dignity. Insisting the way you are insisting discloses not just shallowness but striking stupidity.

But Italy was part of the axis of evil with Germany and others and it invaded so many countries and territories in both wars.
So what's your Swedish friend's problem with Italy then
They fought on the side of the Allies in WW1 and against them in WW2. Thus that they appeared inconsistent in ideology.

You'll struggle to read cause it doesn't sit with your bias
A German defending Germany to a Jew for killing about 6m of his ancestors to have a tough job not being labelled antisemitic. While it is true that you can't hold Germans of today responsible for the actions of Nazis, it is still unacceptable to defend such actions of mass murder of people whose only offence was refusing to join in a war.
I dont see how your analogy works with our root discussion. Also you have read assumptions into the dinner conversation I mentioned. My boss was referring to the fact that Italy did not appear to be consistent in ideology from the first to second world war. So your jumping to Nazi genocide and presuming anyone was defending Mussolini is what made it had for me to read.

Back to Kemi, she was not talking about Nigeria until Abike went and chook mouth in her matter and still brought it to public space. All she was doing was talking about immigration issues in the UK until Abike went and did notice me
She should have been left alone. I don't even understand what the function of that Abike's agency is.
It is not true that she didnt discuss Nigeria until then. As I have told you, she once campaigned with promises to end the negative labelling of Nigeria only to lead the charge in such negative labelling when it suited her. Another point is the immigration thing: a person who is a beneficiary of liberaL immigration policies seeks to constrict them. Of course you who see nothing wrong with St. Donald of Florida doing same will never see the hypocrisy in that.

You Italian colleague who defended Italy must be a poor student of history. Tell him to go read up on mussolini and his invasion of states like Sweden. Your claim is just like saying a German defended the Nazi holocaust to a Jew or a Polish guy. How does that even make sense to defend the murder of 6m people. I recall now. Akpabio when he was governor won an award for his "uncommon performance" in 2013 or so. In the speech he gave during the ceremony, with Jonathan present, he lamented how the history of the suffering of his people during the civil war has been diminished. He insisted he had a troubled childhood due to the horrors visited on his clan by the Nigerian side and claimed there was need for some reparations or closure for victims of that war whom he said littered the old eastern region.
Most people have forgotten that Akpabio was minority leader in 2015 before he resigned and jumped to APC obviously to escape prosecution for 108bn fraud. This is why I said lived experience matters. Your colleague does not have a lived experience of the Mussolini era which is why he's defending what he did not experience. If he had, his posture will certainly be different. Same holds in this case. Be it Anthony Joshua or Rishi Sunak, both do not have an experience of what it was like to live in their ancestral countries like Kemi does. So, someone like her could be justifiably pissed when those who preside at the helm of the destruction of her ancestral country start courting her for the singular purpose of image laundering and notice-me.
Don't blame her if she spawns them
I struggled to read beyond the first line. The point has been so mangled, so totally lost, it strained my eyes and mind.

PS: A patriotic German of the time could defend Germany without defending Hitler, and with more than 40 attempts on his life, one cannot claim all Germans supported Hitler.

PPS: Millions of us who have far deeper and more traumatic lived experience of Nigeria than Kemi has, still understand the subtler, superior point which will not permit us to demarket our country in such a vile, mercenary and opportunistic manner. And there are millions of proud people all over the global south and in developning countries like Nigeria who also understrand that. One is either noble or posessed of the natural spirit of Judas.

While that of Anthony Joshua projecting his Nigerian heritage is good and commendable, it does not make Kemi's posture invalid. Everyone cannot view issues of nation hood from the same angle but the important thing is how true the position taken is.

It is my turn to call you naive now. What has been the import of Anthony's positive characterization of Nigeria? Has it made our political leaders to be better leaders or cured any of our systemic issues?

Most of those who are angry with Kemi are angry that she's giving ammunition to the opposition they hope to isolate and pulverise not that they really care for the country's image.

These are same people who hailed Buhari when he called Nigerian youths lazy in London and described Nigerians as 97 and 5% in Germany. They supported all those de-marketing coming from Nigeria's leader on the international stage.

Recently Remi said Nigerians go abroad to do jobs they refuse to do at home. Did you see any of these people call her out for denigrating the hustle of Nigerian immigrants and the conditions that push them out?

You think if Kemi had given regard to Tinubu or Dabiri the hyenas will be on her back now? Pls, don't buy that BS
This is becoming like trying to explain the meaning of a human concept to a non human, as I have said there is a core principle at play which so completely eludes you it is impossible to discuss. It would be like desbribing color to the blind or music to the deaf.

I am tempted to try, but with my little knowledge of you, it will be pointless, especially when the core principle is so subtle, so nuanced. . . you will keep on, like the masses simply repeatiing: is it true or not?

My mind just flashed back to a dinner I once had with my then Swedish boss and Italian colleague in Jo'butg many years ago. My Swedish boss made a few absolutely true comments about the frazzled role of Italy in the World Wars. Those comments were true. Some one like you will never, never, never, never in a billion years understand how passionately and robustly my Italian Colleague defended Italy and how emotive it was for him. You will never see the nuance or the sensitivity. You will end the discussion at whether the comments were true or not.

What is at play is a notion beyond the basic or mundane, were you are stuck.

You seem to forget easily that Nigeria took over the trophy for poverty capital of the world from India even though they have like 5 times our population

Again, it is no coincidence that most Nigerian indigenous firms employ Indians to their top management and executive positions while India does not return the favour. That should tell you all you need to know about corruption and Nigeria

Besides, her grouse is basically with the situation of Nigeria. Are you happy with the situation of Nigeria? Even Remi Tinubu knocked Nigerians who go to Uzk to work as caregivers and taxi drivers recently. I didn't see her demeaning speech draw any ire from any quarters.

In my opinion, people abroad actually highlight how terrible the countries they left behind are
I have a lot of folks abroad and some are from my place of work and they are usually quick to remind you how far better they are in the countries they migrated to and how Nigeria is a hopeless case. Those who are actively seeking to leave are also usually telling you how leaving Nigeria is the best thing anyone can do at this time. Do you think if they eventually migrate they will start to speak positively about Nigeria? Was it not a Nigerian who casted the migration through study format to the BBC? C'mon! Most Nigerians abroad do not regard Nigeria in positive light and that's common knowledge

If Cameron and his fantastically corrupt speech did not set up any diplomatic quagmire, I wonder how someone sharing her lived experience will lead to diplomatic impasse, Moreso it is Nigerian officials that went about courting her unnecessarily as if she were some prize to be paraded. I think it was the busybody that courted her in the person of Abike that should be cautioned. I don't see how a British nationality of Nigerian descent becoming Opposition leader is something that should trigger a childish notice-me from Nigerian officials.

That said, as I reiterated, Rishi never lived in India. So he does not have any lived experience to share good or bad. I understand your anger with her for turning from wanting to project Nigeria positively to putting down Nigeria but I am telling you there is a context to it. Nigerians in the UK flatly rejected that attempt when she made it. Why should she continue on something that is clearly not working?
Rishi and the whole world are well informed of the level of poverty and corruption in India, lived or not.

Point is, at that level, lived or not, he would know better than to talk down India.

This is so simplistic its painful. You make it sound as though she is saying something new or unknown. The challenges of developing nations are well known. Piggy-backing on those challenges to insult your country and thereby attempt to feel superior is shallow and creepy. Especially if you have hitherto decried the negative labelling of Nigeria and promised to change that. Only to suddenly lead the charge of that negative labelling when politically convenient for you.

In your school of thought, the best that the peoples of the developing world can do abroad is highlight just how terrible their countries are.

You have no idea how stupid, shallow and shortsighted that is. And this is completely aside from the fact that you have not even stopped to consider what sort of diplomatic quagmire she is setting up with Nigeria should she become prime-minister.

Somehow I suspected it was her unsuccessful run in 2010 you were hanging on to say she's a hypocrite

Are you aware it was same Nigerians in the UK that denounced her efforts to run and woo them based on her Nigerian background? Read the comments in this blog. https://www.naijablog.co.uk/2010/04/kemi-adegoke-for-parliament.html

They told her she had no right to expect their support simply because she's Nigerian and called her attitude "patronzing", one of the ills they claimed they ran from in Nigeria

So I am not naive nor simplistic. I understand where she is coming from . Nigerians cannot pick and choose when to be courted or supported.

The whole idea that she's doing all this because she's courting the white establishment in her party is bunkum. In case you don't know, her father was an activist who supports Igboho and the separationist agenda and thinks Nigeria as presently constituted is a fraud. Same with her brother. Her father even ridiculed the idea of Tinubu becoming President as a Yoruba agenda in an interview as far back as 2021

Look, I don't support Kemi but what I don't understand is the comparison with Rishi
Rishi never lived for a day in India
He does not have any experience of growing up in India and what the place is really like. He's just like David Alaba to Nigeria or John Fashanu. They have no lived experience of Nigeria.
Kemi has experience of Nigeria and it's that experience she's sharing. What a lot of Nigerians are doing is trying to shut her up from sharing her experience and expect her to conform by just smiling and giving the normal soundbites so our politicians especially can sleep well.
When she mentioned how the north is boko haram, what struck me was that she was responding to the VP then and he was the governor of the state when boko haram carried out its most audacious and ground breaking operations on Chibok. That shows you how much on ground she is with the experience of Nigeria because, in truth, this man played a lot of politics with chibok. He took almost no responsibility. It was the president then who took the flak for everything.
So while we may not be comfortable with what she's saying, we have to acknowledge that it's her experience she's talking about and except she's lying, we can't tell her to not share her life experiences and the lessons learned.
Besides, is Nigeria of today better in terms of socioeconomic indices than those times?
I am just amazed you don't recognize the political imperatives pushing her and the stupendous hypocrisy behind it. So much so that you think there is something noble driving her. You are naive here my friend.
