bemeruca:There is much evidence that his issue is not about legal immigration but the immigration of non-whites generally. I only cited the cats and dogs case as one example, even at that, just look at how you have gotten your knickers in a twist trying to defend the indefensible. |
budaatum:Valid and interesting interjections. I would however, contest that beyond knowing that one himself exists, we can know for certain that other people exist. Every other person could be a hallucination of some sort. "Cogito" does not infer the existence of other people. |
voiceunheard:I do, still, the context does not provide enough to hold him to legally. You cant hold a person who simply promised you help legally liable if he was not obliged to give you that help. To hold a person liable in a scenario where you have relied on his words to your detriment, there needs to be elements of 1, intention to induce reliance, 2, clear and unequivocal statements, 3, detriment, 4, loss, 5, unconscionability. Other scenarios include some sort of professional mis-advise for example, or torts (civil wrongs) where there was a duty of care on one side. Your reliance on this pastor's promise of help is not certain by any means to be considered reasonable. He was virtually a stranger. Drop this thing and move on, at the rate you are going the man may actually be the one to have a legitimate case against you. |
bemeruca:Its tiresome how you dont realize the irrelevance of TPS being temporary. The issue is its legality because the original question was whether its only illegals he had an issue with. The Haitians were not illegals but he still had an issue with them. Anyway, no point talking to stone. |
voiceunheard:Morally wrong perhaps. Even at that, probably just careless rather than morally wrong. Truth is people fail even with good intentions. But there is zero legal wrong. |
tctrills:Not when you insist on framing the alternative as murder when it is not. |
bemeruca:It's hopeless. |
tctrills:I was telling you just the other day that some people rightly fear giving out their children to strangers. On the abortion discussion. Yes, this is not the US, but it is still telling on the question as to how strangers can treat an adopted or foster child. There have actually even been criminal cases in the US where a family deliberately signs up to foster children only for the purpose of the payments that come with it and abuse those children thoroughly. |
LordReed:Absolutely. This kind of case can even lead to the lawyer who brings it being penalized for frivolity and abuse of court processes. |
bemeruca:God have mercy. Had their TPS ended when Trump was lying about them eating cats and dogs and whipping up crowds against them? |
NerdCat:The pleasure is all mine - the high quality in your thought processes was noticeable right away and for me such a thing is almost like a narcotic to a drug-addict. No. I find all evidence presented in support of the concept to be insufficient and the logical architecture of classical theism - in particular - to be structurally compromised.Classical theism aside, do you countenance the purely philosophical concept of the existence of a necessary thing, a necessary first cause of this material and finite world / plane / dimension / reality. I refer to necessary things in philosophy as opposed to contingent things - https://philosophy.lander.edu/intro/necessity.shtml And if God were defined strictly as - That self existent root of all other existence. Would you say that such exists. I think, therefore I am. 🙃Cogito ergo sum. Descartes. But this saying is used as logical deduction that we exist - and not of an explanation of what we are. But one concedes that it may also demonstrate that we are thinking beings. Tho I suspect you're looking for a more rigorous answer, so I'll say that I'm an arrangement of matter that just happens to be conscious, and self-aware. I'm not entirely sure how I gained this awareness, though I can try to speculate. I'm equally not sure how much more time I have left on this planet.Do you think that a machine could achieve self consciousness? I ask this question because personally I doubt it strongly and it is related to the issue of whether any configuration of matter alone could achieve the same. In thinking of these questions please let me know if you think a machine can ever feel pain. Meaning for me isn't discovered, but constructed. I don't believe in an objective meaning of life, as per the religious rhetorics for instance. Personally, I build my own meaning of life from my curiosity of life itself, the people around me, the universe in general etc. If I hard to pick my current purpose/meaning - it's to acquire sufficient material resources in terms of food, money, and more, to satisfy myself and my loved ones for as long as I can breathe.Fair enough - at the subjective level. Am I to take it that you are firm in your mind that there is no purpose of this world inherent in any external factor beyond us? No, and I think the desire for it is psychologically understandable but also quite dangerous in epistemic terms, as it too easily becomes the engine driving belief rather than the conclusion following from evidence. What I find more interesting is the question of whether "I" persist continuously even now, between sleep cycles. That one keeps me up at night, fittingly enough.Eureka! I have found it! I have finally found someone who wonders about one of the strange things I wonder about. Because I have strange thoughts, wondering for example if I have not already passed on and happen to still be having a human experience in another dimension cut off from the last point when I was awake or conscious. This leads to / springs from / is related to several other considerations some of which question whether this reality or experience is real or simulated. So let me ask if you think experience is real, or a sort of imposed virtual reality. What do you think of that possibility and of Simulation Theory? Maybe you can also chip in here - https://www.nairaland.com/8621001/lordreed-revisiting-simulation-reality |
cococandy:There are a million pieces of proof to cite! |
bemeruca:Are you challenged? Like seriously? Do you have to be painstakingly walked through every discussion? The issue at hand is whether Trump is against even legal migrants on grounds of race. I showed you one group he has displayed that same hostility to - even when they are not illegal. Simple. |
raumdeuter: bemeruca:I repeat, temporary is NOT illegal. TPS is legally issued by govt. |
raumdeuter:TPS is not illegal period. |
raumdeuter:Escapist. |
victorazyvictor:Lol, what about many who simply understand that churches are scam business centres? |
victorazyvictor:Why the stingy part tho ![]() |
bayelsaowei:Everyone knows this. Bemeruca and raumdeuter inclusive, dont let them deceive you. Some people were even arrested or turned away at the point of coming for their oath taking ceremonies. |
bemeruca:Why then did he slur them as eating cats and dogs. And campaigned for them to be removed. Even after it was shown to be false he still went to a rally and whipped up the crowd to chant throw them out. You are deceiving yourself. The claim that conservatives are only against illegals is a huge scam. At its root, people like Trump are against colored people, period. They dont care about white illegal immigrants a jot, and there are many of those, but they barely even check. The issue is immigration of coloured people. Its racism, period. If I wasnt getting used to you folk, I would have been shocked that anyone would say Trump had nothing against the Haitian legal immigrants in Ohio. But now I understand you. Barefaced lying is normal. |
bemeruca:You are in denial. Tell me what Trump had against legal Haitian immigrants for example? |
bemeruca:Between the Democrat and Republican parties, which party has a policy against immigration to the United States? Simple. |
GracieX3:Perfectly said. Oh he knows the bold. He is just fooling around. Dont be deceived. |
NerdCat:Completely resonates with me. I am curious. Even tempted to create a thread to "interview" you here. I have a history as a resident Larry King on this board. Let's do it. https://www.nairaland.com/8664951/welcome-nerd-philosophy-existentialism |
Welcome, Nerdcat Your very well weighed responses to a few theological / philosophical matters interest me. Can you summarize your worldview for our benefit. Lets start with - - Do you believe in the existence of God - What do you think you are - What is the meaning / purpose of life to you - Do you believe in life after death Many thanks. |
raumdeuter:Stop playing around. The question was simply what side makes noise about immigrants and immigration? We all know the answer. Dont bother. |
raumdeuter: raumdeuter:Wager over. We both knew you would not answer. |
JuanDeDios:https://web.facebook.com/Ajayireports/posts/the-man-who-dared-death-the-twisted-legend-of-dr-ishola-oyenusiin-the-turbulent-/1310102234453527/?_rdc=1&_rdr# |
raumdeuter:In the USA, which side blames immigrants? Both you and I know that you will not answer this question. |
mmadu4:You dont have to do jack. |
tctrills. As if your God wanted to help me debate you. |
