ihedinobi2: Lol. It would be pretty condescending to go, "what, are you kidding? Did you think all this started just when you decided to walk in?" There's that temptation, of course. All oldbies have to deal with it when a newbie shows up...generally one with an attitude too, lol.
When I told you I was like you once, I really was not trying to insult you or be condescending. When I started here I was really like that. Didn't know I walked in on a generational feud that's been going so long most every strike and counter-strike is automatic. If you came back here after a year or two of total absence, you'd meet the very same arguments by almost exactly the same people. It's fun, never forget that, a testosterone battle some of the time. Those who take it seriously weary of it soon enough. Others enjoy chasing their tail because it's really a cool pastime. And I'm not kidding. If you peer at the soul of the universe hard enough, you'll get hooked like that and life just won't look the same to you anymore.
So, yeah, this has been going on for a while. It's always going on. The players change sometimes, the arguments don't really. Sometimes, the arguments wear different words and emotions but.in the end, it's really the same things said over and over by the same people. The good thing about it is that it keeps one important question on the front burner for all human minds: "Who is God?"
You see, the answer to that totally defines everything about us. Ten thumbs up. . . . . But Plaetton is still a coward, lol. A comical one at that. |

BTW, how is ogogoro different from imported London Dry Gin, Aromatic Schnapps etc Abeg tell them o. Nigeria is a country full of thoughtless re.tards. And we are headed for the cliffs. I really hope Nigerians enjoy their choice of Buhari (if it was a choice at all - as I am personally aware the process was tele-guided from beyond these shores) - but I will always feel personally embarrassed at this point in time to call myself a Nigerian. A clueless people without a sense of history celebrate the election of a former Military Dictator as their salvation. In 1999, it was Obasanjo. After 30 years. In 2015 it is Buhari. After 30 years. The same tiny group of generals recyled over and over again even into their extreme old age. Please dont be surprised in this dim witted country if you have Abdulsalami or IBB as future president. I can also promise you that were Abacha to be alive, he would also be a widely celebrated future candidate for president. This is the stench and madness that we call Nigeria. I wonder what Fela, Dele-Giwa, Tai Solarin, Gani Fawenhimi, Ken Saro-Wiwa and many other dearly departed heroes would think of us. Enthroning and wildly celebrating "Animals in Human Skin. . . . . However as I said, I do not mean to insult you, so I will not go any further. I just hope that one day, in your old age, you will come back to see the wisdom in the few words this young man has said above.

SNCOQ3: What I am not sure of is if you have reached the zenith of human stupidity and arrogance or if you are almost there; What I am sure of is that you are no programmer.
Indeed, you are no programmer. You seem to have been fooled by the numerous math-like syntax in programming sample codes seen online to assert the word "ONLY".
Apart from the field of numerical analysis, cryptography, financial wares, physics engine(for simulating the laws of physics in softwares like video games), maths is rarely used by most programmers: examples are the use of regular expression (for word processing), database design, server-side and most web apps programming.
Forget "Natural laws of mathematics", its nothing but "word salad":
There are Natural laws - mostly used in philosophy of rights and justice therefore not applicable in this case.
Laws of Mathematics - effects logical consistency in calculations.
Physical laws also known as scientific laws - "a theoretical principle deduced from particular facts, applicable to a defined group or class of phenomena, and expressible by the statement that a particular phenomenon always occurs if certain conditions be present." - wikipedia. The highlighted in red is the relationship between maths and science.
What you are confusing for your so-called "Natural laws of mathematics" is what real programmers call ALGORITHM - an indispensable tool for solving both mathematical and non-mathematical problems. Algorithm is to maths what maths is to physics.
For all your "laws of maths" worship, It may interest you to know that real programmers in the field of 3D CG/Physics Engine must rely on tricks, hacks and other creative utilization of man-made maths laws in 3D matrix and quaternions to fake a 3D world on a 2D surface(computer screen).
Ultimately, every programming code is decomposed by a compiler to machine code(10110100...) and computed(calculations, bit shifting, looping, storage) by CPU; but that should not warrant such drivel like "computer programs can ONLY be written using the Natural laws of mathematics."
I like the way you make a case for God.
Is like "nature" is a pseudonym for God. "mathematical laws" for the Logos. "default state in nature" — the Logos was with God(John1:1) "nature's programming code and reprogramming" — Through him(Logos) all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made.(John1:3)
"from time to time it contains errors, errors of its past passed down the generations." — The fall of man currupted nature: For the earnest expectation of the creature waiteth for the manifestation of the sons of God.For the creature was made subject to vanity, not willingly, but by reason of him who hath subjected the same in hope,Because the creature itself also shall be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God.. (Rom 8:20-22)
The land shall be utterly emptied, and utterly spoiled: for the LORD hath spoken this word. The earth mourneth and fadeth away, the world languisheth and fadeth away, the haughty people of the earth do languish. The earth also is defiled under the inhabitants thereof; because they have transgressed the laws, changed the ordinance, broken the everlasting covenant. (Isaiah 24:3-5).
Actually you don't.
You really think you understand what genetic code in programming term is? ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Just think about it for a moment: One gram of DNA can store 700 terabytes of data. That’s 14,000 50-gigabyte Blu-ray discs… in a droplet of DNA that would fit on the tip of your pinky. To store the same kind of data on hard drives — the densest storage medium in use today — you’d need 233 3TB drives, weighing a total of 151 kilos. Extremetech.com ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The above is for storage alone.
Lets not get into parallel computation, 4bit -as opposed to our primitive 2bit(1,0) computation, data structure equivalent to a DNA with 4bit, algorithms for data sequencing.
Think about the supercomputer power it takes to simulate and decode a single strand of DNA— It can put the fear of God in a sane mind. But then, you may not appreciate it- after all, you are no programmer.... right?
UyiIredia may not be a programmer in a conventional sense, but anyone with an intuitive understanding of the nature of code and an elementary knowledge of computer science is capable of comprehending genetic coding. Thank you. I honestly dont know whether to laugh or cry at the shallowness of Plaettons mind. |

I guess our biases always gets the better of us. Appreciated. But I don't need you to deconstruct every single sentence in the OP. Just deal with the issue of consciousness alone. plaetton: Well, for one, the op made very bold and broad statements about consciousness, Such as. . . . . ? I told you to reduce his argument on consciousness to one sentence for me so that I could be sure you understand it in the first place. without defining what consciousness is. Do I understand you as averring that consciousness requires a definition here? I hope you are aware that many people on this board have since become wary of the sort of round-about merry-go-round debates which do nothing but demand definitions of commonly understood terms ad infinitum ad nauseum and thus say nothing and do nothing . . . . If this is your approach my Friend, you would be better served using your time to contemplate dinner please. He made broad and bold statements about genetic code without defining genes nor what a code is.
The last time he made this sunday school argument about nature and codes, I presented him with the SNOWFLAKES and how nature wips it up in just hours. Proving to you that we have had this arguments before.
Pls ask him if he understands what a genetic code is. He made statements on the existence of codes. This does not show that you have discussed the core question of consciousness satisfactorily in the past. I again urge you to sum up the core question of consciousness in one sentence so that I can see that you do understand the core of the question at play in terms of the consciousness issue. Now imagine if this UyiIredia is a teacher, and happens to teach this crappy, false silliness to impressionable youth, then his own ignorance multiplies a thousand times. This is the bane of Africa's underdevelopment. To debate him here means to throw away every single sentence in the op. Then what am I left to discuss? You see the problem with you? Take a look at the words in red? These are simply logicboy-esque declarations. You have not shown them to be the case. Declarations do not suffice for anything. Indeed, the OP is not as well articulated as I would like. However, by repeating these lame, logically inconsistent pseudo arguments, you seem to be desperately seeking for a REASON to believe in the existence of god. This is not a rebuttal of anything in the OP and nothing in the OP remotely suggests any "Sunday School" teaching whatever. I would like to hope that you are aware enough to understand what a premise is, and what conclusions may derive: and I certainly further hope that you have not become so lazy in your approach that it suffices to brand an argument "Sunday School" in order to successfully or reasonably rebut it. You should probably try your hands on the argument he made on consciousness. Start with that, if you will. |

plaetton: This is the pitfall the humans have often fallen into. There is a danger in trying to ascribe properties and qualities. Often, this is where false twists are added to simple essential truths.
Our obligation should be to continue to ask questions and to seek answers, using reliable , universally accepted methods.
Remember, Start with doubts in order to arrive at certainty, not start with Certainty, and then battle with doubts thereafter for eternity. What on earth are you saying, and how is it relevant to my simple question? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? If that "electron" has no discernible properties, then you have no right to use any descriptive term for it in the first place, much less call it an "electron" at all!Indeed you cannot even state that anything exists at all if you say that no properties can be known or ascribed. This is made worse by the fact that in your next post above, you go ahead to actually ascribe properties to it - such as omnipresence. This is a ridiculous contradiction because, in answer to the question on properties, you merely react by meaninglessly sermonizing about the danger of ascribing properties. You then go right ahead and ascribe many properties - aside from omnipresence you also ascribe interconnectedness of self therein. There is no problem with philosophizing this way and that way - even while you merely substitute religious ideas with supposedly scientific terms (viz: "God" for "Electron" - "soul" for "mind" - "Life/ World/ Spirit" - for "deluded disconnection with reality" - and others) - - -> However there is every problem with the cocktail of meaningless confusion which you have set out up there, especially as it is far more meaningless than the religious gibberish which you so vehemently deride, and also as it is glaringly self-contradictory to the extent that you deride the ascription of properties and then proceed to immediately ascribe properties yourself - aside from the worse issue of the fact that it is untenable to even say that anything exists if you cannot identify any of its properties.Indeed, is this not the very ground on which you and multiple others have scoffed at the existence of God? This simply shows that you are indeed desperately confused. What is pitiful is the way you lot spew this kind of inane gibberish and yet smugly imagine yourselves more enlightened or coherent than the religionists you so deride. I would advise you to step down from this paper-tower of pseudo-scientific delusion and welcome and embrace the warmth of simple and clear truth. |
