He paid a heavier than normal penalty for not paying his taxes on time (eventually did pay them). They usually don't go after people criminally once they pay their taxes. Compare that to Trump's man Roger Stone. They filed a civil case against him instead of criminal one for not paying his taxes. When the case was filed, he still hadn't paid his taxes.

He also paid a heavier than normal penalty for lying on a gun form (saying that he wasn't an addict), for a gun he had for 1 day. They usually only prosecute that if it's in commission of a felony. But here they just prosecuted that alone here.

On top of that they had a 4 year investigation of him, dragged his personal life around, released private pictures of him from data that seems to have been stolen and then went after him during an impeachment hearing. And they still found nothing except the little they went after him with.

I don't mind the pardon. If he wasn't the President's son he would have gotten a plea deal for everything without jail time. Even the initial plea deal he got was harsher than what anyone else would have gotten. And Republicans still forced the Prosecutor to spike it.

This is a very very deep, poignant and apt question.

There are certain things to bear in mind. Do you remember our discussion as to whether machines/ robots could ever be self conscious? If so, you must remember the distinction made there - to wit - that a machine can be made so perfectly that it is impossible to determine if it is actually conscious or merely perfectly replicating the behavior of a conscious being.

In this same way, it must occur to us that it may well be that it is impossible to distinguish between base reality and a simulated one.

For me, however, a few pointers exist. One is death. Another is the fact that it is possible to manipulate perception. The mere fact that we can hallucinate is deeply telling. Also several paranormal things such as out-of-body experiences are telling.

Its not hard pointing to Trump's corruption. For a convicted felon, there is judicial evidence anyway and aside from this the man has literarily confessed to various acts of abuse of office for personal gain since he assumed office. That's why his wealth has vastly increased since he resumed again. Its just that the Trump phenomenon is so remarkable that he is strangely able to get away with murder in broad day light.

GracieX3 is right. It is absurd to deny a people who have lived somewhere for over a thousand years indigene-ship of that place. And this is regardless of if others have lived there before as well. Let us take a walk down the demographics of the area through history to understand the issues better.

The history of the matter is that roughly two thousand years ago, the Romans destroyed Jerusalem and scattered the Jews into diaspora. They went into Persia but mostly into Europe where they suffered much persecution through the middle ages, the renaissance, the enlightenment and all the way through to the 20th century where they suffered the holocaust.

In the intervening time, Islam had arisen in the 7th Century AD, and by the turn of the millennium the crusades had begun in which troupe after troupe of Christian armies generation after generation sought to displace the Muslims from the "Holy Land." This went back and forth over a couple of centuries and the land would alternate between Islamic and Christian authority - all the time retaining a small Jewish population. The long and short of it is that the presence of Arabs in that land dates back at least one thousand years now.

Now, moving on, by the time the second world war ended, I hope you know that the British had made promises to the Jews via Zionists that they would create a homeland for them in Palestine. At that time, the place was mostly occupied by Arabs like I said, for about a thousand years already. It is unreasonable to claim that it was not home to them. Besides, the European Jews who were returning had been so adulterated that one cannot really claim that they are necessarily of the same ancestry as the Israelites of old. Frankly, most of them today are noticeably white.

At the end of the 19th century, the Jewish population in Palestine constituted a small minority, making up about 5-7% of the total population. The majority of the population was Muslim (around 80%) and Christian (around 10%)."

You will note that -

1. From 1517 to 1882 through the rule of the Ottoman empire, the Jewish population varied from 1.7% to 8%. Thus it is clear that the Jews were a distinct minority throughout that period.

2. By the end of the 1st World War, they had become 9.1%.

3. Throughout the period of the British Mandate they grew from 11 percent in 1922 to 32% in 1937. This was the period of the first wave of significant Zionist migration from Europe, and so it is obvious that the majority of Jews in the land were now migrants from Europe.

But hang on, the evidence gets worse -

4. Between 1947 and 1948 - a period of one year only - the year of the creation of the State of Israel, the percentage of Jews jumped from 32% to a staggering 82% - in ONE year only!

a. That the migration from Europe formed almost all of the population of Jews by that time as compared to the negligible percent prior to the British Mandate

b.In the same period of ONE year the poulation of non-Jews fell from 1.3 million people to 156, 000 people!

The foregoing discloses conclusively what had transpired. A mass migration of Europeans had flooded the land and there was a mass evacuation/ removal of non-Jews.
