Good advice, but you see the bold, the truth is that many people put on the spot with such a request to "appreciate" their wife or babe for a favor done would not want to object as it could seem petty, awkward and needlessly insecure. Thus they may not say anything even if they dont like it.

The law of demand states that, ceteris paribus (all else being equal), as the price of a good or service increases, the quantity demanded by consumers decreases. This DOES NOT work with Nigerians. We argued about this severally before and after the 2023 general election but the Supreme Court failed woefully in their rulings on the election to give effect to the requirement of the law that requires Political Parties to submit their membership register to INEC 30 days before the election. Allowing people who are not on the party register to contest as candidates of the party made a mockery of that particular section of the electoral act.
