GeneralPula:

Lamba Nanu already requested for 7 weeks..
I once mentioned it on a thread that BVAS is just a machine that accredit voters!
With the court judgements below, it means if you provide a BVAS machine for a polin unit, the only thing BVAS would validate is numbers of accredited voters!
Once the numbers of votes are not more than the numbers of accredited voters, then such result stands! But if numbers of votes supersedes numbers of accredited voters, according to BVAS, then such result would be canceled!
The only advantage of this BVAS is that... If it accredit 200 voters in a poling unit, no matter the level of rigging that wants to occur, total votes must not be more than 200!
Unlike during the era of Pdp where a poling unit can be having imaginary 10,000 votes! BVAS reduces rigging largely.. You are right, use of BVAS should continue n be compulsory but it should also be made mandatory for the elections results to pasted at the polling units before taken to collation centres, this will eliminate the alterations and readjustment of figures at the collation centres since INEC has criminally reversed her decision to directly transmit the elections results from polling units, getting a very credible elections in Nigeria is not too difficult, it's just the criminal hidden agenda been pursued by certain persons in the country. |

fergie001: Odinkalu is a former Chairman of Nigeria's National Human Rights Commission and a visiting Professor at Hazard Law School
Chidi Odinkalu If the supreme Court really wants to be fair, they should then make it mandatory for INEC to produce the BVAS machine for any polling units in dispute for inspection if not how can the parties force an unwilling INEC to hand over the BVAS machine (s) to them to tender in court?, during subsequent elections, interested parties should quickly approach the court n seek a judgement of the court to make it compulsory for INEC to use BVAS only for accreditation and to announce n paste the elections results at every polling unit before proceeding to the collation centres, any polling unit were such is not done, the electoral officials there should be arrested and prosecuted n the elections in that polling unit repeated, electorates should be allowed to record the announcement n pasting of the results for transparency,I said this because majority of the electoral malpractices are done between the polling units n collation centres. |

J3susFr3ak: So in other words the current so-called Vice President who was in collusion with the Terrorists back then denied using innocent Christian girls as a political bargaining chip? And we still reward this type of person with a VP role?
Even as far back as 2013 and 2014 I was arguing the fact that a country as complex and large as Nigeria should not just have ONE political capital at the center of the country which gives these Muslim Terrorists easier access to destabilize and commit criminal coups. Look at how it has been easy for them to kill innocent farmers on their lands because treating Abuja like an extension of the Caliphate was very convenient from their perspective.
If Jonah dared the systems and even poured enough capital to make each zone and region have strategic Federal political capitals to checkmate the excesses of Abuja....he would rested with far peace of mind. Any military cow terrorists that stages a coup in Abuja would have had a far harder time convincing Lagos, Enugu, PH or even Jos to join the plotting.
The real problem with insecurity was over-centralizing all the powers in Abuja....and this is the Restructuring every sane person was clamoring for! A lot of terrible things are happening in this country,it will really take an intelligent and lion hearted patriotic leader to remedy the situation, |

LeoDeKing: Yet you were informed of chibok girls kidnap by bokoharam terrorists and you refused to take action after one month.
Money for the purchase of arms to fight bokoharam terrorists was shared Dasuki under your watch.
One good thing about you is that you accepted defeat in good faith and continued with your life leaving some headless mobs to continue killing themselves. You people keep repeating this lie against Johnathan,I was in maiduguri at the time of this incident, moduganari to be precise, the borno state government under shetima n the commander of the military operations who were on ground then both denie the incident thus giving the federal government a false report most probably for ulterior motives, government has channels of communication, besides the kidnap was certainly planned, Boko Haram hadn't spread deeply into southern borno at the time, there was a similar girls school in gajigana nganzai of northern borno where Boko Haram held sway then yet such kidnap never happened there, you can guess why, don't just blindly buy into hate n falsehood. |

Family › Re: I Had Been Restless Having A Chat With My Elder Brother by Deepthoughts: 3:26pm On May 12, 2023 |
DownTime44: Hi guys
Please i put up this post basically because of my elder brother. I sincerely want to know if i was wrong talking to him, or I could have just let him be. I wasn't myself ever since i talked to him, and i was somewhat having guilty conscience since then.
I have an elder brother, he's 38 years old and also the first son. I am the fourth child in the family of five. The second child is a female and she's married. We lost our third child, that's my immediate elder brother some years back, while i have a younger brother. I came from a humble background. Lost my dad while i was in JS 3, even before his death we had been hustling on a daily basis for survival, and we live happily as one big family. My mother, siblings and i do hawk daily before we could eat. All thanks to public school in Lagos, my family wouldn't have had the opportunity to basic education. We hawk daily after school, weekdays and weekend. My family was bred and brought up in Ajegunle.
Few years after the demise of my father, we struggled to pay house rent. We had to leave Ajegunle to a local and developing area. I didn't allow my family conditions deter or weigh me down. Never! I believe I'd make it in life legitimately without venturing into crime, fraud, theft etc. After my secondary school, i was into all sorts of labour work. I worked in factory, building site, cleared bushes, laundry man , just to save up and further my education. I worked for 6 years after my secondary school, bought a bike from the little savings i had and proceed to school through jamb. I gave the bike to someone who often deliver #6,000 weekly for the upkeep of my family. I was in year 2 when i let go of the bike, it was on a higher purchase and the agreement we have had elapsed. I hustled my way through school and graduated. I'm done with service last year but couldn't land a job, probably due to my age. I'd be 29 this year and most graduate trainee often request for age below 28. Although, i had a 2.1. I'm only managing in a pure water factory to make ends meet, keep soul and body together and support my family
I sat my elder brother down and talked to him. He has been hustling like every other person in the family but i don't understand what's happening. He didn't futher his education nor learn a handwork. He's 38 but still live under his parents roof. He has been doing conductor work for many years. The family had talked to him several times to look for something else. It's fine you are hustling as a man for survival but doing conductor for many years without thinking of what else to do is wrong. A family friend of ours who later got to know what he does for a living had advice him also.
The bus he was following, the driver had misunderstanding with the owner and he collected his bus back. My elder brother had been idle for months, doing nothing. He claimed he has gone virtually everywhere in search of bus he could be working with but couldn't get any. This is a family that we all had to bring something no matter how little to survive. I was talking to him as a younger brother. I asked him why didn't he heed to people's advice when they were advising him then to stop the conductor work and look for something to learn, if perhaps he doesn't want to further his education? He doesn't believe in Nigeria education, because he could count graduates without job or those with petty job. My elder brother wear almost rag as clothes. I had to give him some of my little wears I'm managing. He has just one slippers. We don't wear same size of shoe or sandals, we could have been sharing that also. He sold his phone to feed sometime ago and had been without phone. I was initially saving to get my mum a small phone but i had to give him the phone instead.
He was crying when i was talking to him. I understand the situation of things in the country, which i myself is going through. I was just trying to know what other things he could come up with. I am not happy seeing him sitting idle doing nothing. The fact that he's the first son and found himself in this condition at that age breaks my heart daily. My mum had been so worried about his condition. I had to convince her that things will be better. I don't want her to develop high Blood Pressure that could lead to her untimely death.
Please guys was i wrong talking to my elder brother? You know that he is helpless already,so what's the point asking him to look for something else to do,rather you all should be thinking of how or what can we get for our elder brother to pull him out of shambles so that he can help himself n the family tomorrow,or is it a taboo for you the younger ones to prop him up?, talking to him the way you did even though well intentioned would only bring back bitter memories to him n make him depressed. |

Evestar200: A Ghanaian is complaining about the high rise in foodstuffs prices after buying six seeds of tomatoes for 10 Ghana cedis (N380).
According to him the tomatoes he bought for 10 Ghana cedis (380) were sold for 5 Ghana cedis (N190) a few weeks ago. one may be tempted at first to assume that by this Ghana is very expensive but this may not be correct, just assume for a moment that those tomatoes were to cost #10 in Nigeria n 380 cedis in Ghana!,of course we will feel great,to me,I would rather buy those tomatoes in Ghana at 10 cedis than #380 in Nigeria.By the way, please can anyone here explain to me the practical effects of having a global uniform exchange rate for all currencies? |

nairalanda1: At the end of the day, companies have to make profits to pay their workers improved welfare, and at the same time also account for increased prices elsewhere.
Because for DSTV/Multichoice, the prices and cost of doing business have been increasing and will continue to increase year in and year out.
That's life. You don't have to watch DSTV, you can always switch to cheaper alternatives like Startimes. You are not answering the questions, all businesses faces the same challenge but they don't behave the way DStv does,it appears to me you don't see anything wrong in what DSTV is doing in Nigeria because perhaps it favours you in a way, tell me exactly when did DStv increased her tariff last before the latest increment n whether they did same in all countries where they operate? |

nairalanda1:

NANS should consider that
1.Multichoice has thousands of Nigerians working for them directly and indirectly, and they all want to be PAID WELL
2.The people worldwide who make the TV programees and bring you the stuff you want to watch also want to be PAID WELL.
3.The equipment used to bring you those DSTV shows, were made by people who want to be PAD WELL
4.The Premier league is made up of football players and so forth who want to be PAID WELL
5.Health and other insurance costs a lot of money for workers who want to be PAID WELL.
6. No one in Nigeria has done pay as you go. No country in the world where DSTV is has pay as you go. Because it cannot work for a system where workers want to be PAID WELL.
7. Did TSTV's pay as you go work.? No, because ....PAID WELL.
NANS should realize that when prices go up, it is because a lot of people, not just the rich and mightly...but a lot of poor people who work and pay bills and so forth...want to be.....PAID WELL.
Maybe NANS should set up their cheap version of DSTV and bid for programme rights....or tell their members to patronize STARTIMES. STARTIMES last i checked is VERY VERY CHEAP. so it's only Nigerians that should be exploited to justify all said? |

Yes the southern part made a right choice but they are also not immune to crisis, most of the crisis in African countries is caused by forceful dominance suppression, oppression n discrimination, Even the present one in Sudan,if it's not one ethnic group against the others, it's one religion especially Muslims against other religions, I'm not a prophet of doom but I'm afraid to say that Nigeria is tilting dangerously towards her own catastrophe, the only solution to Africca's crisis is the acceptance of truth equity n justice. |
