I have most of the details of this incident. The man didnt burn himself to protest the country's economic problems per se. He just couldnt bear to watch his family suffer all sorts and be unable to help. His wife, sister and other persons said he had been making statements like I'm tired, this is too much for me, I can't live to see my people homeless etc., while crying like a child. I guess he needed a good counsellor/psychologist at that time, but he didn't have access to such. |
Wow. I'm engaged to a navy officer. He' quite wonderful, love him to bits. but I really hope he never get affected with all you guys are talking about. Not sure how to handle such situation. |
I can cry o! When I was little, my dad couldn't scold me much 'cos as soon as he raises his voice, the rivers begin to flow! He will just get weak. Last time I cried seriously, I was listening to the song Held by Natalie Grant, and I just broke down 'cos I kept remembering the my ex, my one true love, but circumstances beyond our control separated us. Something sacred was indeed torn from my life, alas, I really don't feel 'held'. I hope I will someday |
Not condemning peeps who drink o, but I can never stay with/marry a man that drinks- the foul stench from the mouth when they speak close to you, or worse, when they try to kiss you (shudders), the snoring, the tainted judgment/reasoning when he takes one bottle too many, the distended belly from years of drinking, the health risks, the possibility of addiction/dependency, the financial implications, and that awful, horrible, stinky smell they leave behind after peeing in the toilet... I can't handle that. |
I think that's because kissing is a touching/feeling activity; and our sense of touch is most heightened when our eyes are closed (check blind people). So 'kissers' close their eyes to get the best feeling from the kiss. |
I feel so impressed and challenged reading this. As far as I'm concerned, these are my own celebrities, role models and worthy candidates for national awards. As for the person saying the list lacks federal character, do you think the international organisation is interested in sacrificing merit on the alter of FC?? They're only concerned with those who qualify for their awards. By the way, I keep wondering why all these big coys don't organise contests/fairs for technology/manufacturing/agric/business and other tangible innovations. Its always music/beauty/movies. We should encourage all round innovation, so we can more of such testimonies |
Okay, this My oga at the top 'franchise' is getting really big. Just discovered some guys have already designed a computer game called My oga at the top!! See the links- www.nairaland.com/1226964/new-game-called-oga-top www.kuluya.com/games/my-oga-at-the- top/ |

1stCitizen: So you mean that the average Nigerian did not know the guy was exposed when he started blabbing. You mean the sarcastic remark from the lady after he goofed was necessary and professional? SMH. Tell me the difference between those journalists and that man in terms of competence. You really want me to tell you the difference between those journalists and that man in terms of competence I'm sorry you haven't figured it out yourself, but I don't want to say one thing now and your Oga at the top will come and say its another one! Dats all. |
1stCitizen: Tell me of any arm of Nigeria's security establishment being run by competent people. I am waiting. My point is an interview is not meant to be an avenue to ridicule people. It is designed to get an insight into issues, people, projects, governance etcThe Channels panel didn't set out to ridicule the man. He was asked a very simple, straightforward , germane and totally important question. Instead of admitting ignorance he went ahead blabbing. Even when the interviewers tried to bring him back on track, he kept saying WAIT WAIT and goofed further. And like you rightly said, interviews are meant to give an insight into issues, governance, people etc. We've just gotten an excellent insight into how our institutions are sometimes manned by incompetent people, who lack initiative and probably don't even know their job description. We complain that Nigerian press isn't doing well to expose lapses in the polity, yet when they try, we still accuse them of ridiculing people. |
Joey82: ake asase... methinksHmmm, maybe you're right |
Soo man, you don't know that TIVS love it when Fulani/Hausa are killing then, it is something honourable for a Tiv man if killed by Fulani or Hausa. To Sarduana Ahmed Bello and Fulani/Hausa, Tivs are their Slaves for Life, Sarduana Massacred many TIVS during his days, but till today Tivs praises and worshiped him as their god. go and Check. Only people that don't want to see Hausa/Fulani are Beroms and Southern Kaduna people, they are Sworn Enemies for life.
I find your post quite ridiculous. How would you reason that Tivs (or any other people) love to be killed by Fulanis/Hausa? Where did you get that notion from? Does it even make sense to you? And just so you know, Tiv and Hausa/Fulani don't mix. That's why you'll hardly find a Tiv man who's a muslim, despite the fact that Tivs are termed Northerners. Although the strong Hausa caliphate, in connivance with British colonial masters tried to annex and bring Tiv people under hausa/ muslim domination, they met stiff resistance. A sarkin makurdi was even imposed on Tivs by the colonialists, but that didn't work, and that seat was cancelled after lots of riots and protests by Tivs. Tiv land isn't the only place herdsmen cause trouble in Nigeria, and if Tiv men are getting killed, believe me, Fulani herdsmen, together with their cows, are losing their lives (Tiv people REALLY love meat!!! .-) |
Oh my goodness! This so hilarious! Its difficult for me to believe this isn't a comedy skit!!! He speaks, gestures, even looks like one of these Nollywood comic characters ( esp that guy in clinic matters)! Where did they get this guy from and why does he have to be the one speaking on live TV for an org line NSCDC?? O ma ga o + O di kwa e gwu! |
I just love lace fit-and-flare gowns (trumpet/mermaid), esp if it isn't that clinical white colour used by many. And it should definitely have sleeves. Something like this-

That's what you get when every Tom Dick and Harry become media personalities without undergoing proper media/communication training. Na dem go come dey form celebs everywhere, even more than the proper media staff. |
I've heard so much about women's so-called unskilled driving... Not saying its true or not, but at least women have less road crashes than men, right? And for me, arriving at my destination in one piece is the most important thing, even if you'll be labeled sluggish driver. |
It's really hot in here! What can I say, let's all be careful lest we argue religion and forget the most important thing- Almighty God. And of course, let's not fall into the category of people who, in Jesus' words, teach as doctrines the commandments of men; who have forsaken the commandments of God and followed the traditions of men... And lastly, those who worship and serve the creature rather than the Creator. Let the Spirit of God guide us all. |
'The city authorities and entrepreneurs alike are doing well turning Dubai into the world’s best tourist city. They don’t just rely on nature’s blessing; they make conscious efforts to make the city beautiful and become cynosure of all eyes.' I really like this part. Nigerian authorities should borrow a leaf from here. Don't just assume that because you have a natural attraction eg waterfall, people will start coming there for tourism. You have to make conscious effort to develop/ upgrade that site and make it more attractive. And all these governors should stop building mushroom structures and blowing big cash on commissioning (eg the recent so-called first flyover in Ogun state). Erect standard, beautiful, even futuristic edifices, keep the cities clean, set up good clean marketplaces and recreational parks, and you'll get your tourists. |
Something like this- your posting the issue on nairaland now- was probably part of the reason for her hasty retreat. She's likely seen lots of threads were guys/girls discussed their relationships in a not so pleasant manner, and wants to avoid being a subject for nairaland 'trolls' to dissect and ridicule. Imagine if she'd played along and fallen for you, only for her to one day come here and see a vivid description of how a certain guy wooed a certain girl at a park and she fell for him blablablabla.... And she knows she's the one been profiled... I'm just speculating anyway! |
Seun: Nope, sorry, that was not me. I can't remember the last time I "exchanged banter" with any human people.✽ℓ☺ℓ✽✓ you're joking right?? So what d'you banter with? Computers Kudos all the same! |
This is just a shame. But of course they'll tell you its fashion, and its their life. Don't know where all these yuppy so-called celebrity presenters are running to, with their funky names and cringe-worthy outfits. If only I had a way of showing them the exotic beauty of long, flowing, elegant and decent dresses. |
mystiqueem: FACT: When a lady goes out without a stitch of makeup on, two things are evident; it either she's really a Greek Goddess or she's simply saying to the world - my guy is broke/cheap/or doesn't care about my well being!Errmm, what are you talking about?? Seems you just shot yourself in the leg with these pics you put up, cos that lady looks better in the 'before' shot than in the madeup 'after' shot |
Ok swithrt, ah went tru ya profile, no photo. I jst hope ur sexy if not u won't mk heaven afta dis kinda bashing.
✽ℓ☺ℓ✽✓! You really got me laughing!!! Far be it from me to bash her! I didn't call her ugly, I just don't see her as sexy. And the reference to the ninja turtles, they just kinda go together in my minds eye. Same with Davido, he looks like Ninja turtles... And same way Obama reminds me of Gollum/Smeagol in Lord of the Rings!!! |
[img]Don't know why I find it difficult to see this lady as 'sexy', despite the dressing/boobz/makeup. Plus she always reminds me of those green Ninja turtles! |
Wait, why are the feminists ruffled? 'Cos a married woman took on her husband's name?? They should have complained when she got married nah. And I doubt if Beyonce using Mrs Carter for this tour has anything to do with being/playing the 'submisive woman', I believe its just part of marketing/branding/publicity in unique way. In fact, warahell is their biz with the name she uses?? Is Jay Z not Mr. Carter? And shouldn't his wife be Mrs Carter? They're not even happy that Bey hasn't been using Beyonce Carter all this while. Abeg free the girl |
Hmm Ogbeni Aregbe at it again. You need to come to osun state, sorry, 'State of Osun' and see the O everything- O'yes O'schools O'yestech O'water And now O'ambulance Welcome to the State of Osun, Ipinle Omoluabi! |
Meanwhile, d major reason y majority of u ladies are treated wrongly is because ur more concerned with material things! Guy wey hold side!! Then wat should happen to single graduates like me( with a bright future) looking for a job and love? As far as I'm concerned, if u wnt a guy dat would respect u, hv just u, treat u like a lady, n finally puts dat ring on ur finger, u should 4get about made guys and give dat single graduate with a lot of hope, a chance! When u guys suffer together and make it together, he'll never leave u. What do u think?
Its been said many times that ladies should stop looking for 'made' men and accept guys with 'bright future', and help them grow, that way the guy will respect them blablabala. sadly, it desnt always work that way. Someone very close to me married that so called modest and promising guy. In fact, he had only a first degree and was a teacher. But she advised him to stop teaching and go to UI for his masters. After his masters he wanted to start looking for a job but she encouraged him to go ahead and do a phd. All this while, he was a full time student, and for 10 years and four children, d woman was taking care of everything with her midwife/nurse salary in a mission hospital. The man would send lists of provisions dat the woman would purchase and bring to him on the campus all the way from benue. The man would come home to give her belle, then go back to school. On dat man's phd thesis, all his children, parents and grand parents were acknowledged, but no mention of his wife. He got a job as a lecturer, he's earning big money now, and what did he do? He filed for divorce. She wasn't a bad woman, wasn't demanding, wasn't proud. She didn't enjoy the mans 'wealth', but she didn't complain. He treated her badly to force her out of the house, but she was ready to bear it all. The man had to take it to court, even there, he couldn't say how the woman wronged him. Everyone kept wondering why he would forsake such a gem. They are separated now, but the woman still prays her 'husband' will come back to his senses. Anyway, let me add that the man got his Phd in 1988, this is 2013, but he isn't even smelling the title of professor. I can only say its so 'cos the woman is no longer there. That's how many men take good women for granted, so no one should blame ladies who decide to avoid the stress and seek already green pastures. (Pardon d long tale) |
This is my list of Naija songs I want played on my wedding. Hope it helps- Scapegoat- D'banj I love my baby- Wizkid Afurum ginianya- Naeto C, Waje (don't really know d spelling) Ekwuro- Davido Though I hate to see you go...
ehen, she can shortten it to "Mgbes" thats a fine name
✽ℓ☺ℓ✽✓ at 'Mgbes'! Why is it only Yoruba and Igbo names we're seeing here. Hausa/Fulani nko? And what about minorities like Idoma, Tiv? Trending names for the Tivs: Dooshima (sweetheart, loved one etc) Doose (We like) Doowuese (Good to be thankful) Torkwase (Queen) Iyuana (His gift) Ivieren (Blessing) |
